My Hobby of Cross Stitching

Several years ago, my granny taught me how to cross stitch. Back then, this was a very popular thing to do. Now days, it is not as popular. However, I still love it. Being able to sit and cross stitch relaxes me and makes me think of my granny, who is no longer with us. I started with some simple patterns. My first cross stitch was an Owl ornament. I proudly display this on my wall. It brings back lots of memories of my granny and the time we spent when she was teaching me one of her biggest loves.

I have not done any kind of cross stitching in years. I remember being at school and we were taught to cross stitch, it was only simple patterns that we followed but it was a lot of fun. I remember going home and telling my Mum about it what I had done at school and how much I enjoyed it and she bought me the stuff to cross stitch at home. I remember having a love heart cross stitch pattern that was my first pattern I did from home and it was so easy to follow.

Cross stitching is so relaxing and so simple, I would go back to it now if I could however having the time to just sit and cross stitch is a really hard for me nowadays. One day I will go back, maybe even work my way towards more difficult patterns.

Though I do lots of different types of sewing, crocheting, and crafting... cross stitch isn't one that I stuck with. I tried one project once years ago, which I think I made the mistake of choosing something kind of large and complicated as a starter project, and just lost interest. I'm not sure I even finished it. It was a very repetitive type of crafting and slow to show results, compared with crocheting and sewing. I do remember my mom learning to cross stitch when I was a kid. Her first project was a small gray bunny. I loved it. She then stitched on some wording to give it special just to me. It was in a little plastic red, ornament frame for many years, until a puppy I had chewed it up. I was so upset because my mom had passed on several years before that. Thankfully, the cross stitch piece itself was in tact, so I then sewed it onto a patch on my personal quilt.

Back when I was in highschool, we had a task in our T.L.E subject to do cross stitching. When my teacher shows some example, I was amazed how the sample is neatly done and looking so perfect. I remember I was by one of the samples, it was a cross stitch of a swan incorporated with different colors of flowers around it. That was the exact moment when I started to fall in love in cross stitching. I made a lot of samples of cross stitch myself, from doing my name, flowers and animals. Cross stitching is just a really nice and productive kind of hobby. Every now and then though I am busy with a lot of things, I see it to myself to do this hobby once in a while when I'm not busy.

I have tried cross stitching when i was young. I remember those time that i really liked it and it's a good way to spend your time, you won't notice the time passing by. I only finished two designs that time. We even framed it and display it in our ancestral house. But i haven't got the time to do it again cause of busy schedule when i'm still studying and till i found work. And now because of your post i think it gives me an idea of trying it again.

Can remember when I was taught by my mim how to knit.I knitted a lot of stuff for my younger siblings and for myself, now I don't even remember it let alone doing it..

I need to find time and knit for my baby,I know she will love it.

My wife shares your hobbies, my dear Sweet, and I appreciate the patience that she has when she is making a cross stitch draw. Usually, she makes animals and flowers, but sometimes she tries to make a view with mountains or seas.
You are right this hobby was more popular in the past but now this kind of a draw it became a business, you can sell one piece with more than 40 dollars.
Have you tried to sell them on eBay or Amazon?

When I was at school, I did some cross stitching for sure, but not anymore. To be honest, I'm not very gifted with crafting, so is not like my favorite thing to do. I've done some here and there with my students, little cousins, and god-sons, but not in a professional level but for rec. Nowadays you can find very good tutorials online, and lots of materials on crafting stores, so it's way much easier than when I was a kid, so I won't deny that maybe I should give it a try and see what I can do.

I actually had to learn cross stitiching for school when I was like 8 years old! It was really cool and I stitched a flower and I think I bought myself some other ornaments but they were too difficult for me at that time so I didn't stitch them. I would like to learn some crafts like that, maybe not stitching but knitting so I'd be able to knit myself a scarf or something like that.

I last did a cross stitch in highschool. I remember it was is Tazmanian devil from looney tunes. I spent a lot of time for it because it was my project back then. I'd like to make another now that I remember it. Maybe the portrait cross stitch of my wife will be a great present for her.

This kind of work is a dying art, sadly. But what is important is that you get mental satisfaction to continue doing it. Do not give up. Who knows just as so many old traditions are coming alive this could too one day.

I remember doing this cross stitching because our school told us to do it. So, what we basically did is we did buy all the materials we need and we did learn the different kinds of stitches. I remember we had a project and we need to do this and put it in a frame, so my first idea is I will cross stitch a flying butterfly which for me is awesome and my work turned out really well.

Cross stitching is very popular here too way back 1990's. The 90's kids can really relate to this. It has actually become a part of my childhood. Cross stitching is also one of the projects we had in our home economics class. I remember completing one when I was in grade 5. The cross stitch pattern I completed back then was a Disney character, Pluto. I even remember learning techniques that make the back look neat. The stitch at the back of my work is in horizontal pattern. I never had it framed though. This is one of the things I miss. Gadgets and internet rose to popularity, which replaced hobbies like this. I wonder what it will look like if they make an app about cross stitching.

Having a hobby is a really great thing. My grandma taught me how to cross stitch and this was years ago. She was very good at this. I remember when I was still at school we had a project involving cross stitching. It was time consuming but fun. I have not done any cross stitching for a very long time. This post of yours brings back some good memories. Maybe this is something that I can do during my free time.

I am a fan of cross stitching. I had learned this hand craft from my niece. She could cross stitch beautiful pictures and framed them into wall pictures. I had several cross stitch fabric and threads in hand. Sometimes I stitch pencil case, pouch or pillow case for home use. If I could, I want to sell them online.

I start to encounter it during my elementary days. My teacher teach us how to do different kind of stitches. And I am motivated always to make one. It is my hobby in the past. I always make different things that are made of stitches. Some of my classmate earn money from it. So I say that this is a good hobby.

I have done a few more detailed cross stitches, but it isn't a craft I can stick to. I find it is only a once in a blue moon craft for me, even though I enjoy it.

My crafts of choice are crochet and knitting. I started off learning super basic crochet from my grandmother when I was a teen. She started learning (or re-learning after decades of neglecting her skill) from some of the women she worked with, and passed it on to me when I would visit.

Up up until last year, I couldn't wrap my head around knitting. I started trying to learn, but it got a little frustrating and seemed tedious. This year I've gotten back into it. I eventually want to start knitting sweaters and things for my family OTHER than hats haha. So far that's the only clothing I've done. It is quite addictive, I find. Hopefully once our new baby arrives, I will still have the occasional time in the evening to keep it up.

I think many people who are into the hobby of cross stitching are working around with the hobby. And that seems to be helping a lot for many people. I have noticed that some of the cross stitching type of the work can be good for selling online. You can choose etsy too. It seems to be good website for those who are into such handmade work.

I think I can do almost anything I put my mind to. One thing I can't do though is cross stitch. Actually stitching in general is a skill that is just completely beyond me. When I was in school and we had a stitching assignment I would give it to my auntie to do. I just don't have the patience. If I loose a button, I give it to the tailor to fix or I just get rid of the dress or shirt. Stitching is just not meant for me, its not my thing.

I remember back then when I was 6 that my mom is doing something and I was amazed by how she make the crossed stitch thing. I gave it a try and as a kid I find it interesting to do. My mom then bought me a cartoon pattern and some DMC threads and I started making hermit the frog. Since I was new to this I got bored and did not able to finish just the whole head and one eye haha. It was fun though but my Mom continued what I started and gave it to me in a frame. It was a bit hard learning that type of stitch but at least I learned something.

Oh, that's so cute! Unfortunately, modern grandmothers don't do handicrafts so they will not be able to teach this to their grandchildren. This is a great rarity in our time, which should be appreciated. Honestly, my grandmother is one of them, but she can cook the most delicious pies and taught me her wisdom. I think I learned the most important life lessons from her. For example, she taught me how to understand that a young man is the only one who is for life. And recently I read an article on https://reliablelifestrategies.com...male-attraction/ and realized that this article reminds me of my granny.
