Would you rather create your own e-book to sell or ask someone to create it for you then sell it?

Would you rather create your own e-book to sell or ask someone to create it for you then sell it?

I’m a beginner in digital world and I’m having difficulty to get started. There are ideas that I have in mind that I’m planning to create an e-book. But when I search the internet, there are already tons of people selling the e-book with topics that I want to
e-create. I read advices of the people about creating e-books on different niches and they suggested at least 10 topics that according to them are really profitable. But the problem is I’m not knowledgeable on their suggested niche. Others suggests hiring other people that could create for you great content on particular niche because you could still sell them as if you are the author. And lots of online entrepreneurs are actually doing it.

Have you ever sold an e-book? Didyou write it for yourself or you just hired someone to create it for you?

I can never think of someone else translating my thoughts in their language. At best ,may be I would dictate my thoughts for someone else to create that ebook. There is no joy if someone else writes even though it could be based on one's thought but expanded by someone else.

I also can't imagine it because something seems to be really incomplete. I mean, it doesn't matter how much work someone is doing is, in fact, good... It will never go out the way it's programmed in my mind (it's very personal... at least for me).

I have to agree with you on this. I just could not have some else writing what I want to say in their own way. It would just feel weird. It's also difficult to find someone that can write in a similar way to you. Plus you will have to end up sharing some of the profit with that person. I would just rather create my own ebook.

I think many people think the same way. But the point is you can get it to record. And let someone else do the writing. Even there are softwares that can do dictation. And it does help out on that context. I personally prefer to make use of the dictation like dragon naturally speaking some of the time. But it can be expensive to use.

As a person who has written ebooks for clients, I see great benefits in hiring a writer to write an ebook. Currently, I am working on an ebook for a client. He had an idea. He asked me to elaborate the idea for $10. I created 20 topics and sub topics related to the idea. The client was happy, he asked me to use those topics and subtopics as the chapters and sections of the ebook and write an ebook for him. The client will have an ebook just for $120. He can make more than this amount if he is a good marketer.

Bravo to your effort. All cannot do what you have done. It needs a lot of practice, patience and tenacity to see to its end and you have done it. There is only one question I have to ask. What about the writing style. Will that reflect the owner's personality?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have published only two ebooks. However, I have written over one dozen ebooks for clients, I have made more money by writing ebooks for clients than from my own ebook sales. Writing ebooks for clients bring you quick money. However, in order to earn from your own ebook, you will have to do a lot of work, you are not only writer and editor, but also a marketer for your ebook.

I couldn't agree more with you on this with you your assessment. What is the joy in selling another person work and thought as if it's your own? This is one inappropriate way to do things, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone because I definitely wouldn't take such route in writing and selling my own ebook.

I don't think I would ever hire someone else to write content for me, unless I did not intend to put my heart and soul into it and was just doing it to generate some quick cash. While I don't think it is an illegitimate or dishonest thing to do, I just personally would not feel satisfied with hiring someone else to do what I feel should be my work. The fact is that with enough time and experience with writing about random topics, you learn to do really in depth research that can make you sound like an expert in a topic you may not have even heard about. Find good sources and do some research on these niche topics, and with some time and dedication you could be writing your own content. Remember that nothing worthwhile comes easy. You also might end up learning about something you never thought you'd be interested in!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

We have the same thought about hiring someone else to write content and then sell it. I wouldn't be so proud if they're not my real work. But if is just on the business aspect, the idea of hiring someone to write for you is just like buying the book's copyright and also the right to distribute it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I can't really say. I guess both ways would be equally attractive. I mean, the really big thing is whether or not there is a market for it and you have the means and brains to sell it. In other words, the first question is minor.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
That's why it is really important to have a thorough research on what niche are profitable before starting to create contents.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jpyy,

More than having brains for it, you need to have some marketing skills that definitely is not something for everyone. However, if you decide to do things yourself not expecting to have high expectations about the results (because that's probably what will happen), it's a great start.

For if I will be going to have an opportunity to do so, Id rather wanted to sell my own books you know, inspired by my own history because it is more easy to sell the things that you already know that those things that you dont know where it came from.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
That's a good point also. But of course if your going to ask someone to create it for you, you probably hire a writer that is reliable and you're going to read it before you sell it so you know exactly the content if it is valuable or not.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DarthHazard
Definitely. I think it is easier to sell something that you have written or developed because you truly believe in it. You know how hard you worked on it and you are the only person that can portray that to your potential buyers. If you trying to sell someone else's product, you may just not be as passionate and may end up not selling as many as you would have hoped for.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's always best trying to have your own book written by yourself because it's going to be more inspiring and fulfilling for the writer. There is no joy in having another pen down your thoughts for you, there are bound to be break ups with the flow on the subject matter because that contracted writer wouldn't be writing from experience than when it's written by the author.

I have published an ebook with Amazon Kindle and I did it all by myself.I don't know but I don't just like the idea of paying one to write for me.I always feel the person might put my views and thought on the book properly because I believe whatever you want to be done properly then, do it yourself. So I prefer doing it myself.

Yes me too. I haven't created an ebook per se but I have written several articles and I don't think anyone else could capture the feel of what I wanted to convey quite right as only I could. Also there is the money factor involved

Can I ask how much time did you spend creating your e-book and what particular niche did you write about?

Is your e-book contains ideas originally created by you or is it something what you have learned from other books, articles, or blogs?

As a beginner in writing, what holds me back from creating my e-book is the thought that,

Am I just going to write what I have learned from the books or other materials that I have read?"

and

Could the e-book that I’m going to create still be sold if the ideas that I have in mind have been written
already by other person?

"...I believe whatever you want to be done properly then, do it yourself."

This is a sentiment that I agree with as well. I think that there are many people who might not think there is a difference between writing a book yourself and hiring someone else, but I think that it is reflected in the overall quality. You can tell when someone is doing something simply to make a quick buck, and when someone is truly putting their heart and soul into their writing. I feel that it is noticeable when someone really put the time and dedication into their work, as opposed to just churned something out because it was their job.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think creating yourself is more fun. So you can write the story and get the cover done. I have seen that working for myself. So far there seems to be very limited amount of the creativity out there. So letting other people write may or may not work out. So you have to some of the time think of the plot. And then build things on the top of that. I guess we have to see how that can be working there as well. I have realized that ebook and other things to be properly managed as well. Hopefully in near future things change.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Tronia
That is also true. It is far more fun especially if you are very creative and enjoy writing. The whole writing process and the creation of book isn't easy at all and it can be time-consuming but in my opinion, it is completely worth it.

You feel like you have created something and it is a very special feeling. Just imagine if the book sells well - you would get a lot of motivation for future projects as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
Yes. That feeling is not compared to anything. I have written a lot of short stories. And it seems like a lot of options for anyone who is into writing ebook. I guess for many among us it'd be reasonable to get the ebooks written. but for those who are into writing ebooks through outsourcing. They just do it for money. Not a good outcome as far as satisfaction is concerned.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Authord
Exactly not only about the fun aspect, but also the ability of developing new skills while you are at that. And nobody can really write it better than you, because while you're writing, there may be things you will need to chip in as you remember them, which another writer can't do for you.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

True. Fiction writing is a hard skill. And one can't learn it unless he or she tries to do the same. You can see that ebook writing in fiction takes a lot of effort. Unlike novela and other big books, ebook can be stressful too. So that experience is worth having for those who are into writing. I think for that experience alone it's better not to outsource.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Authord
Yeah, I do advise people that is only good to outsource, when you have been in the field for long, otherwise, it is better to just do it yourself and gain some experience. Then when you have gain enough experience on your own, you can now outsource.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
Yes outsourcing can be done for some of the parts. Like say making ebook cover. And doing the proof reading. And checking the errors while exporting the book. Those type of the things can be surely outsourced. It's just that not a lot of people can make use of the ebook for their regular use in that case.

It depends on your talent, if you have the talent to right stories from ebook so go for it but if you think you are good in selling ebook so it means you have a talent in marketing strategy. so don't close doors for that 2 kind of options maybe you will find which one you prefer. for me i am not good in writing ebook so i go on let someone right for me and i will sell it online with good promoting of the product.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
Yeah. From what I've learned, you can still have the authorship and the right to sell it many times
even if you just hired someone to create an e-book for you. And there are many good writers that don’t want to be known in public by selling the e-books they’ve created by themselves. They just want to use their writing skills to be paid by other people.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think these days short stories seems to be selling a lot. And many people are choosing ebook route because big book pubishers don't like the small books. So it's reasonable to make use of the ebooks and post the small stories. I am sure that can give many people some idea on how to publish and take the things further.

For a starter, it is better to ask someone to create it for you and the sell it than making on your own. You must know first how it works and us for some tips and guidelines. So for the next time, you can make on your own. It is good If you can create ebook on your own.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree asking for someone to create your e-book is not that actually bad, just think that it's like a stage for you as a beginner to know or learn more and once you pass that stage then your good to create your own by yourself. For me, both are actually good but it really depends on how you market it, it really depends on the audience on who is gonna buy and who is not.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jemuelterrado
If you have your own why not? If you are a professional writer of an e-book you must create your own to avoid conflicts in the future. Buying an e-book and reselling it is good but it is in the same way of explanation of how you will earn from it without spending only with your own thoughts. Creating your own is good also because you are sharing your ideas and everytime there are people who wants to ask some questions you will easily be able to answer them. Well at the end it depends on a blogger or a person on how he will sell e-book either reselling or creating original one.

I wouldn't mind letting someone write my ebook for me as long as they didn't charge too much money. I have a ton of what not to do in life that I could probably make a really nice ebook and maybe save people heartache in the process. One of my biggest regrets in life is letting video games take over my life. I could probably wire a 500 page ebook just on that subject alone.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
Playing video games is not bad at all if you find a way to monetize it. There's actually a youtuber that became millionaire by creating reviews and tutorials on the videos games that he loves to play. And he also wrote a book.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anor0428
I agree with you, you can make money through games by posting videos and tutorials for a specific game. You can also pilot some account and get paid by the account owner. Some also sell account, items, or money from the game. Books can be nice too, an alternative tutorial if you cant make videos.

I really enjoy the sense of accomplishment that I get from creating my own work. Why pay someone else to do it when you can do it yourself, right? My grandfather also said, "Never do something that you do well for free". If the other guy can do it better, then sure--give him or her the opportunity. However, having total control over your book through all of its phases of development is great, I think. Also, your interpretation or desired interpretation of the information you are delivering to your audience might be different from the person you hire to write it for you. Furthermore, i think it is important to demonstrate your own tone and technique for your audience so that they start to associate your voice with your brand and your products. That's just me. This tutorial I found is a great start for people looking into making ebooks:

I have never written a book before but I would never, ever hire somebody else to write it for me. It would go against what I believe in and it would feel weird to still put my name on something that I didn't create. It doesn't feel right to me.

But yes, you can easily sell other people's book or other products through affiliate marketing. Or even hire somebody to write every single page for you and take no credit. It is called ghost writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, I can see the positives and negatives in both situations... It will all depend on your personal motivation on how you will prefer to do this.

Doing things on your own can give you a feeling of very high satisfaction, but it may not yield the outcome you are expecting. Asking someone to do it for you can give you the result you may expect, but things may not go exactly as you want (I mean, as you imagined in your mind).

Firstly, it is better to create my own e book if I could because right now I don't know how to create one. I will learn the step by step procedure and then create one soon for my recipes. Having someone else to create an e book would cost some money and I would have to rely on that person to make changes. Then I have to fork out more money. Might as well create on my own.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Only issue seems to be that ebook needs to be completed. When we are writing it our own self then it can be possible that it may not reach the ending. And for that motivation issue could be there. But still satisfaction is going to be there by writing our own content. Outsourcing is good but it does not work out that easily for many among us. So we have to watch out with what we can do with the ebooks options.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

If you write your own ebook, you don't have to spend a dime. You can do online research, take notes and then develop the ebook. What ever you earn is your profits. However, if you hire someone to write an ebook, you will have to pay the writer. When you are selling, you need to recover your investment first. I choose the first option. I have published two ebooks and I wrote both of these books myself.

I guess it would be better to write your own ebook than have someone to write it for you. If you think you can do it yourself then why let someone do it for you? Plus, we all know that selling ebook is not that easy, so if you pay a writer to write for you, it will take time for you to get your capital. So it is much better to write it yourself. Would you rather create your own e-book to sell or ask someone to create it for you then sell it?

It's the same with almost anything. Unless you can come up with a brand new thing that almost no one knows about, chances are that there will always be an ebook that has already been written about it. The important thing though is to focus on your own book and to make sure that it is really good so that people are interested in purchasing it. Just because there are others does not mean that your book won't sell.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yup and remember that each one of us might have the same ideas but we have unique way of conveying it to other people. And there are billions of people that possibly needing of a good e-book but there's only few that are creating it.

Well, it depends on your level of knowledge though. If you are a newbie and you want to create an Ebook due to emergency or you need to do at a limited time interval, then it's advisable to get an expert to do it for you and sell it as well, while you start learning the process that are involved in that. Other wise, I see no reason while I won't create and sell my E books myself.

Your dilemma is a bit tricky. Typically when someone wants to write a book, they do it for a reason. Let's say I want to write a book on exercise. I don't think I can just give the book to someone to write. What's the purpose of the book? I think it should come from my experience and it should contribute to the level of knowledge, out there. It's a bit like a thesis.

How would you be able to choose a niche, you know nothing about? Why would someone write you a book with their own ideas and give it to you, to sell for a few bucks, when they can get thousands or millions for it.

My advice would be if you have no ideas now, wait the ideas will come. Sell someone else's books and get a commission on them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

In the last part I think you are suggesting affiliate program where you can earn commission for other people's e-book in which I think it has just a little bit difference if you just hire other people to write an e-book for you and sell it as your own.

Based from my experience, when I have tons of ideas running in my head, I thin them down by writing them down. It helps me build up from there and gather my thoughts on this topic that I've chosen. For me, go with the first choice of writing it. There are tons of information on the internet on how to write creatively. Start by writing articles or short stories first.

I think it's more appropriate to write your own ebook that have someone to write it for you. Why? Because if somebody ask you about the contents of your ebook, you can easily answer him or her. It's necessarily having your thoughts and heart in it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You could read the entire e-book to know its contents. Just like reading a book that you bought in the bookstore, by reading the contents you could share or tell to others what it is all about. But yes it is good to write your own book because you could put your thoughts and heart on it as you write.

I think if I wrote an entire book, I wouldn't have much energy left to sell it myself. If I were to write a book, I would much rather have someone there to just sell the book for me instead or at the very least if I had to sell it on my own, I would prefer to just have an online venue where i could put up my content and leave it there for people to buy, but even then I'd have to spend a lot of time marketing my content. I think I would only ever sell another person's book if I really liked the content, but otherwise, if I'm just going to do it for the money, then I probably would just prefer to sell something else.

No, I have not written and sold any e-books yet. However, I am on my way there. This is how I do it.

Everyday, I do a FB Live session teaching English. To support this programme, I create notes in Facebook. I also create online quizzes using the Socrative app. When my live session is over, I write a blog about it in Blogger. So far I have already done 20 lessons.

Eventually, I will have 100 lessons. Then I can put them together into an e-book. Of course, I will have to edit it. However, the main bulk of my content would be done.

I would prefer creating an e-book to sell to asking anyone else to help me create it. As an experienced internet marketer, I have received adequate training on creating ebooks and have made money from this venture with a blog and a website. The blog is about five years old now while the website is about seven years old. This venture requires some technicalities, but is very profitable because out of the over 3.75 billion people that surf the web daily, millions are searching for things, looking for solutions and all of that.

You have a good point there. There's a certain satisfaction in creating your own ebook. It's not always about money. Putting your thoughts down on paper is sort of like what the cavemen did on their cave walls. It's like making a permanent mark that can be viewed by future generations. Our own mortal lives are really too short. Books have a chance of outliving us by many hundreds of years, or even thousands of years. That's quite a satisfactory thought, isn't it?

Come on, unless you're a greedy person who doesn't value himself as one, you'll write an e-book on your own. Succeeding with your own accomplishments and thoughts is what matters, putting in all the hard work and creativity and seeing it pay off is what makes you enjoy it all at the end.

I guess I would rather create my own e-book then sell it than I will ask someone to create some and then sell it because there is a greater satisfaction when you have created something and then you will sell it to someone and eventually they will buy it. That is amazing!!!! It is something that can't be replaced by anything in this world for you really work hard to produce something and some appreciate it. But well, it really depends also to the person whether he or she is good in writing or not because sometimes you really want to write but words don't like you then maybe you can do the other one especially if you are a good salesman, then why not ask for someone who will create the e-book and sell it. Thanks, everyone and God bless.

To actually conceive the thought of getting someone to write my own thoughts for me and then having to selling it bugs my stomach and it makes me want to puke. This is 100% wrong, I'm quite sure that some people are doing and should one try finding out why they do so, the reason of lack of time to actually do the writing would come up which is a flimsy excuse to me. If I'm not ready to write my own thoughts down myself, it's best it stays in my mind hibernating.

I don't think it's ethical and rational to make profit out of other people's talents or ideas. It's just a no-no for me. Having this mindset that I, as a person, must have dignity and professionalism, I really hate the idea of letting others write content for me. It's plagiarism tho. I don't want to insult people but whoever does that doesn't have a conscience. I mean, if you really have an idea then write it yourself. It's not as if you lack the hands and brain to do that (not unless you don't have limbs, I'll understand), but if you have one then use it. I really don't understand why some people oversee this kind of plagiarism and theft. The original writer may be aware, but what if their readers will find out? Wouldn't it hurt their pride? Well, that's just my opinion tho. A small and single voice can't change the world that easily tho.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Plagiarism is taking someone else's work or ideas and presenting them as your own. Asking or hiring writers to create content for you is totally a different thing. Paid writers are aware that when their clients asked them to write something, it could be used for a personal blog or be sold to other people. Hiring writer is not unprofessional, it is being smart. Companies hire writers for their website to increase their visibility on their market and attract more potential customers. When you hire a writer to create an e-book to sell is not a plagiarism. And when you pay for it, you have the authorship of the e-book. Ghostwriters are the people that are willing to write or create content that will be credited to another person as the author.

I'm not into e-book but I think there's nothing wrong hiring someone to do the job for you it's like a strategy on how you're going to earn faster. But you have to ask yourself first what's your purpose in writing an e-book. Is it about earning more money or is it for the love of writing? If it's for the money then hire a ghostwriter then if writing is your passion don't hire a ghostwriter just try to work on about your topics until it will be perfectly done.
