Not sure if I've mentioned this before but a very useful technique for keeping your apple slices from turning brown is to soak them in pineapple juice (such as from canned pineapples).
I came up with this idea when my daughter was two years old and really loved eating apples but would eat so slow that most of the apple slices would brown by the time she was onto the second one. Then she would refuse the apples.
We always had canned pineapples in the house (though never lemon juice, which works the same).
The pineapple juice makes the apple slices SO sweet. So much better than using lemon on the apple slices. If you think apples are sweet, try them this way. The taste is really amazing.

Could you use orange juice for the same purpose? After all, this is a citrus fruit, similar to pineapple juice. I wonder if it would taste as good as what you are describing here.

Are you using canned or fresh pineapple juice? I wanted to know as I only have canned pineapple chunks in the house. Will that work too?
