Mosquitos!

Stupid mosquitoes are attacking my feet and ankles! I guess they are getting into the house at night when the door is opened. I try to keep the light off when opening or closing the door as they are attracted to the light and yet it seems that at least one mosquito gets into the house every night. I'm allergic to the smell of OFF spray and it gives me migraines, so I can't use that. I just need something to keep them off me. This summer can't be over soon enough. :/

Thank you, I have found this item on Amazon and will order it soon. I can't use DEET based sprays, so this would be the ideal solution. Also, my daughter will be using this as she is prone to mosquito bites during the summer. Thank you so much for your help. Mosquitos!

Thanks Angie! It's always good to hear from friends who have personally used a product to know how it works for them. I will add this to my shopping list.

Are you eating bananas? This could cause mosquitoes to attack you. Eating certain foods can cause you to attract more mosquitoes.

I haven't been eating bananas lately. But they are one of my favorite fruits.

It's getting toward summer and already lots of mosquitoes out and about and starting to make me miserable again.

You can create a very mild mix of ammonia and water and apply to the bites. The mix is one teaspoon or less to a quarter of water, not enough to harm your skin. This will take away the sting and discourage mosquitoes from stinging you again.

My grandmother always used to say that you could keep the mosquitos off your skin by using the Skin So Soft. Though I think she mixed it with a little isopropyl alcohol.

Actually, it works without adding anything. I wear this skin softener a lot and never notice mosquito stings. Maybe that's why. Mosquitos!

You should empty out planters and pots of water by the front door as that is where the mosquitoes will breed. They love any standing water and will lay eggs on the water which hatch and grow into full grown pests that get into your house.

At night I use mosquito net to avoid the mosquito bite. Try to keep your surrounding need and clean to reduce the mosquito's families.

Lavender - is a great way to keep those pesky mosquitoes away. The scent is often quite strong for mosquitoes making them unable to bite. Use lavender oil as a natural room freshener or apply it on your skin.

Mint oil
- use it in a vaporizer to help fill the room with the scent of mint, apply the oil on your body or plant the shrub outside your rooms window

Citronella oil
(extracted from citronella grass) - well-known to prevent mosquito bites extremely efficiently. Infuse the extract in a candle or use it in a vaporizer to help you stay mosquito bite free.

Eucalyptus and lemon oil - mix them in equal proportions and use it on your body. It works because of the component cineole, which has both antiseptic and insect-repellent properties when applied to the skin.

Camphor - light camphor in a room and close all the doors and windows. Leave it this way for about fifteen to twenty minutes and go back to a mosquito free environment.

You just had my ribs cracked with laughter now, mosquitoes are you kidding me? I think you should well aware that they are meant to bite, it's in their nature to bite, so therefore you should quit complaining because I believe that you are the one that afforded them the opportunity to bite you by either leaving your doors and windows open.

If you have problems with some sprays, I think you should use the old ways in getting rid of them. Keep your house and surroundings clean, it would drive them away to a more dirty environment and you will be free. Also try as much as you can to always keep you doors and windows closed especially in the evening periods.

But if you must open your doors and windows probably because of heat, then I suggest you have both the doors and windows constructed with mosquito nets to prevent them from flying in on first class flight into your house. Lol.

Mosquitoes are attracted to not only light, but even the smallest of space into one's house is a way that they can enter. I will suggest that you get some insecticides and use it in the house to keep the mosquitoes at bay and ensuring that you have a good night sleep. I mean I can't sleep comfortably in a house where there are mosquitoes.

I honestly don't have any problems with mosquitos but I know many people who do. The only advice I can give you is wearing layers of clothes so the mosquitos can't get through them. At house you should have nets in your windows so your home can be mosquito-free.

I know that vinegar makes the mosquito to go away and not touch your body, but the disadvantage is the powerful smell. There is also a cream Autan that you can use it against them and me ma sure you have a lot of products in the pharmacy for this issue.

Firstly, I have learned new ways of handling mosquitoes.I will try them out to ascertain which will be very effective. But my own methods are:

Closing all windows immediately the sun goes down
Using door nets for all the doors
using the mosquito net on my bed at all times
Using mosquitoes spray to kill the ones that had penetrated before now.
