I don't' really hate spiders. I know they do an awesome job of keeping the environment rid of pests and bugs and other creepy crawly things. And, they are essential for the environment. I don't mind spiders doing their own thing, so long as they mind their business and stay in a corner far away from me. The only thing that bothers me about a spider, is if it suddenly runs up over my arm. If that happens, I might squish the spider, just on instinct. Later, I would be regretful, knowing the spider didn't mean any harm. :/

It's possible your fear of spiders dates back to when you were a baby or young child as that is when most phobias start. If a spider bit you at that age, you would now fear spiders and not understand the basis of your feelings.

My cat chases spiders if he sees them and jumps up at the wall. I haven't seen too many lately so I'm assuming he ate them all.

There are many misconceptions about spiders such as how they are all dangerous due to the way they look. But most spiders will leave you alone if you leave them alone. That is true for most animals that don't' seek humans out.

Isn't there a brown recluse spider? That's supposed to be very dangerous and it is highly aggressive and hides in places you might actually disturb it such as in garages and cellars where you have to go on occasion.

I was watching an episode of Man, Woman, Wild on Netflix and they were on a survival expedition and had to get logs to create a wind break. And, a brown recluse spider came crawling out of one of the logs. This spider is very toxic and loves to burrow away in logs and dark places. You should be very careful when handling foilage and logs and any natural material outdoors as this is where they live. Though maybe only prevalent in some parts of the country and world, still a danger.
