How does shipping work with physical products?

I am just trying to get me head around a few things on how this works with physical products.

With shipping can I choose to send via courier or via postal services? I should then just add that to my description information, is that correct?

If I make a sale will I then mark the item as completed as soon as I have sent the order off?

I wonder if the marketplace calculates shipping automatically? I know some sellers would probably like to offer too much for shipping to gain an additional profit from the sold items. If this system isn't in place, then I truly believe it should be added in.

I think it would be too much work to add in, but im unsure if you would need to pay the USPS, UPS, Fedex or whatever company it is to use an API or service to detect the rates of shipping products.

Nope shipping is added in per product.... a set rate of shipping per item.

Hi Lynne, I have not sold physical products on either SEOClerks or Listingdock but assume it would work much the same as Etsy or Marketplaces which deal in hand-crafted goods, including Ebay. The service listing shows that you can choose domestic shipping (such as local to your country) or ship everywhere option. The domestic shipping option would be good for sellers who only want to deal locally within their own country. I'm assuming you can choose how you want to ship, such as which courrier you will be using. You cou ld specify that on your description, such as 'all items ship on Friday, via FedEx Ground or however you want to ship. That previous one is just an example. Check out the Ebay listings for examples of description used by sellers for their shipping policy. If the item is one of a kind, you will want to list that in the description. And, actually that could be a great selling point! A lot of people will buy an item if it's rare or can't be obtained easily by others. Another example of the 'standing room only' close.

Once a buyer orders that item and it's sent, you'll want to suspend the service or make it so that it's sold out.

If there is only one quantity of the item for sale be sure to tick the NO box on 'Allow Multiple Quantity Orders', so that a buyer doesn't order multiples. The same is true for hand-crafted items. For instance, a seller on Listingdock who is offering hand painted portraits, might only be able to complete one per buyer. So having the option for a buyer to order 100 of those hand-painted portraits would make no sense.

As for when you would mark the order as delivered, that is a good question. Is it delivered when sent or when received? I would have to do more research into that question. Though I believe other marketplaces including Ebay judge it by when sent. Though again, need to double-check on that to see if SEOClerks policy is the same. If in doubt, you can submit a support ticket to ask that question, that will get the fastest and most authoritative response.

Hopefully that covers most of your questions. Really looking forward to seeing your products and what you have to offer and hopefully we can revitalize the ListingDock community.

Thanks Beverly. I think I need to give this a try because from a buyers point of view I would consider the sale done only when I have received the goods but as a seller I consider it done once I have sent it LOL

I guess I must just give it a go right? I am thinking of adding second hand UNISA text books since we have so many on hand right now and we have been unable to sell them. I like the fact I can choose only to ship in my country, this will help since I don't to ship overseas.

I might have some ideas of also buying in some nice kids dresses from Amazon and reselling them here. It takes care of a lot of the admin work for me.I didn't enjoy the admin side of things on my website LOL.

Physical products these days fall into two types - dropshipping and warehouse. And third being less preferred which is sellers stock. If you are doing the dropshipping then the product manufacturer does the job on the release of the products. And then that can be more than enough for the shipping of the proper physical products. In case of Amazon and Ebay you can see that physical products pass through the warehouse.

And in case of sellers stock, the order comes in and the fulfillment department comes for the product pick up. And it is then delivered to the rest of the customers end. So that's how the system works in short.

I've got an online store which sells physical products and the way it works is after receiving payment I then ship the products. I go to the shipping company with the products to be shipped, they put it in the box and calculate the fee either by weight or by box size then I pay for the shipping fees which is precomputed and paid for by the buyer in advance.

Hello, it depends on the company because usually, shipping companies work differently. For example, USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate service will ship your package anywhere in the U.S. in 1-3 business days for a flat fee. You have to use the branded Flat Rate boxes to get the Flat Rate shipping price, and you can order them online or pick them up at your local post office. FedEx can ship your product faster, but you'll have to pay more for that. https://www.tigercontainers.com/co...iners-fremantle/ will ship your product slower, but you will pay less for that. Read more about that on google if you want to understand better how everything works in this business.
