Direct Sales....to get into or to not get into?

I'm sure we have all had our encounter with a direct sales consultant....this is someone who works for a company and basically gets paid on the amount of sales they make, they model or showcase their products, sell you some really cool things, and then encourages you to join their team to make money! There are so many companies out there that are like this for example Avon, Jamberry, The Pampered Chef, Scentsy, and lots more! Has anyone ever done this before?

As a former direct sales consultant for a company called Jamberry, which sell DIY heat and pressure activated vinyl nail wraps (stickers), it was so much fun to go to people's houses and set up all my stuff and play games, and let the guests win prizes!!! As the fun went on the more money I was getting, it was a wonderful thing! My fingernails and toes were always nice! LOL

My sales were good at first for awhile but then it started to slowly die out, I wasnt getting any returning customers, it just wasnt as easy as they all make it look!

What is your opinon on direct sales?
Has anyone ever tried it?

Yeah I got sucked into Amway by a neighbor once. She was so sweet and invited me around for coffee. She told me to bring my friend that was always visiting. So yeah we came over for coffee and out comes this board and she got us so excited to join.

It didn't take us long to see it for the rubbish it was. That was my first and only MLM experience and now all anyone has to say is MLM and I am not interested.

i dont blame you! most consultants make money off their recruits sales so theyre so eager to get a sign up!!!!

my mom was always the one to have those parties (avon, pamped chef, tastfully simple, you name it she had it!) where you invite your family and friends over and get them to buy lots of stuff so you can get free stuff! so ive been around the hoopla my whole life! haha

You are talking about Multi Level Marketing. I detest it, truly I do.

Exactly like you say, you don't make money like they say you will and then they try and put the focus on getting people to join under you and not the products.

That is my experience anyway. No thanks.

Direct sales is great if your in a big city and have access to many people. Unfortunately for us this is not the case. I think you should talk more about hosting Facebook parties.

Some direct sales companies do have online parties that are convenient for people who dont have enough time to or have no desire to go out.

as a former Jamberry consultant, i would have rathered a facbook party over an actual at home party.

im not much into the selling part of it anymore, im in love with the products though!

Yes of course, I have tried taking on direct sales on several occasions and at least made some decent amount of money off it but as time goes on, all of them tend to wane in terms of customers to patronize your products. Direct Sales or simply called marketing business networking here is one of the most stressing and stressful kind of job one would take on.

The only way to reduce the stress one could encounter in direct sales is if you are opportune to have your private personal means of transportation that would enable you move from one place to another. Mostly I carried out my sales in schools, banks, and private hospitals.

I have never worked as a salesman for marketing agent for any company. In fact, I never tried to sell a product or service until I began working online. I started online work by writing on various writing sites, then I joined freelance sites and wrote for clients. Then I discovered few more ways to earn online. I created websites and began promoting affiliate products. Currently, I have a half a dozen websites where I promote different kinds of products.I have now become a salesperson and a marketer.

This is what I was into offline, selling stuff directly to customers though it was my personal products, not companies products. What killed my business was debt that turned into bad debt that I couldn't recover. But it was fun while it lasted.I met good friends though my customers at first and we rapport well.Direct sales help one to get the feedback about one's product instantly.

While I was still at the university I was working as a sales representative for Avon. I was selling the cosmetics to my classmates and other students and I was getting a good pocket money from this. However, when I finished university it was quite difficult for me to sell the products. Some of my friends went abroad and I was not in contact with some of them. I tried to sell to neighbors and relatives but I was not making enough sales and didn't find it worthwhile. This is when I stopped with this direct sales business.

This is the hardest thing to do. However I think that alot of it depends on the product. I would think that a beauty product would be easy to sell and you would get many repeat orders. Look at celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Rihanna that are making their fortunes from beauty products. Direct sales is a skill and is not for everyone, but once you have the right product and you get the right customer, you should be singing all the way to the bank.
