BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

I am converting a 2-hour audio file and I need a good transcription software to finish this project ASAP.
Do you have recommendations for a great and easy-to-use app/software aside from Express Scribe?
If there's any, please let me know in the comments below and how much this software would cost me?

Thank you in advance. Cheers!

I think express scribe is still the best to use. I have tried all the other software as suggested ,but i still go back to express scribe. What i would say is that transcription is not as easy, as it looks and sometimes you find audio that is difficult to listen do. You just have to tag it as recommended in whatever style guide of whatever site, you are using. Also your transcribing a 2 hour back to back. That's a lot of work. I'm not sure that the is any software , that will help you. What maybe best, is to get someone to help you out and share the pay.

Yeah, I agree with you completely. I have tried many softwares out, free and pay ones but I have always returned to Express Scribe.

It is hands down the best transcription software I have ever used with every option it has. I think that the majority translators use it as well.

A two hour audio is extremely long and no matter what software you use, it will require many hours to get it done.

Thank you for this. I will try this. This is really a great help.

I’d personally go with Easy2Transcribe. It has a decent user-friendly interface and functionality: all you need to do is to record and upload audio files for transcription by human transcriptionists which ultimately ensure the accuracy of the transcripts, unlike the automated tools.

Hello there. You can use GoTranscript Tool even though you're not employed with them. It also has a foot-pedal. You can even use it offline. Here's the website https://gotranscript.com/transcribing-software. Best of luck.

What does this software do? Will this automatically transcribe audio? Or will this make the audio clear and easy to transcribe?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ColdFlameChris
Nope, it won't transcribe the audio automatically. What it does is you can practice or do your transcription work offline. But if you're looking for a tool that it can help you to transcribe the audio automatically, you can download the Dragon Professional.

Here are 2 Online sites that can help you transcribe the audio automatically:

1. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E4yQ09KgRoV_mNydQykieGz3MFZOAIVVxbNjwhOwxAo/edit (go to Tools>Voice Typing)
2. https://dictation.io/

What you need to do is just play your audio and then turn on the mic (google docs) or Start Dictation (dictation.io). You need to have a good working mic to make it work. What I do is I put the mic on my headphone. It'll only work as long as the audio is loud and clear.

For Audio Enhancement, just add that extension to your chrome :
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ears-bass-boost-eq-any-au/nfdfiepdkbnoanddpianalelglmfooik?hl=en

Hope that helps. BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

Wow! Thank you for this. I actually applied as a transcriptionist in GoTranscript. The test is clear but I am still wating for the result if I will pass for work. But I know that on audios for work will never that smooth and might have some background noise. This one will be a big help. Thanks!BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

Thanks, BelindaMT. If you're already employed at GoTranscript and you're minimizing your internet data spend, you can actually just download the audio file then utilize this offline tool so you can still work offline as long as you know when your time is up. Then turn on your internet again just to submit your transcription. BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

If I ever need to do some transcriptions, I'll make sure to check out GoTranscript Tool. I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate your recommendation. But what do you mean by a foot-pedal? Do you mean that it can be configured to use some sort of a foot pedal so you can pause the audio when you want to? Or is it some sort of an industry keyword related to transcriptions that I am not aware of at all?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ColdFlameChris
I mean, you can control the audio the way you needed. You can pause, rewind, fast forward, you can even slow it down or make it fast and it's all comes with shortcut keys. You can even customize the shortcut keys. Hope that'll help you a lot. Good luck. BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

Thanks, Keibah2. What I like in GoTranscript tool is that you can customize your shortcut keys that you prefer and even you can set-up your own speaker tag. You'll have all the things that you need in your transcription job.

GoTranscript works well, I have lots of people making use of it and are making significant progress on the job. But seriously, I'm not one to take on Transcription jobs. It looks boring to me but I'm not discouraging anyone who wants to take part in the job.

Hello you could try VoiceBase. It offers a trial period so that you can assess the full potential in trial mode. Works pretty good for me. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

I have yet to try the voicebase. Most of my experience with the Gotranscript tool. And on that point you can see that it'd be something I have to transition from one tool to another. I have mostly used the custom tools where I was assigned to make use of the transcription tool. And hopefully I have to try some of the commercial apps. I am going to give the voicebase software and hopefully that is going to working out if in future any client ask me for the job.

I'm new to the transcription work and I just didn't know there are software like the ones mentioned here that existed. My work will be a bit easier after passing the tests to start working. The transcription work appeared so hard while doing the tests. It's good to know that these software exist to ease things up a bit.

I didn't know about the foot pedal if its accessible if you are not employed with GoTranscript, but if it's ok, then try that foot pedal of GoTranscript, it will make your transcribing more easier and faster.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ColdFlameChris
Yes, chelfox18. Whether you're employed or not at GoTranscript, you can have a full access at their tool for you to do the transcription even in offline mode. Hope that helps.

Nice, thank you for the idea. I never thought It was accessible for free. I will get that foot pedal later, since I want to practice more in transcriptioning. It's a big help for me as a beginner.

I too was interested in this kind of job but had difficulties on how to start and what tools to use, but someone recommended using Go Transcript. I haven't tried using it yet but it seemed to have pretty good reviews, so I think using this wouldn't be a bad idea. I'll try this as soon as I really get the hang of transcribing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Glad to hear, SirenOnFire. Once you're employed in GoTranscript, everything you need is in their tool and I suggest to utilize it when you do their transcription. Let us know if you passed the test. Goodluck.. BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

Wait, can you first share to me what tools you used for their test? I'm planning to apply soon but it would be useless and a waste of effort if I'm not prepared and have no clue on any techniques or even just the basics. Will they teach you first before giving you the trial test? If not, how did you first learn how to transcribe?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ColdFlameChris
Once you take their test, you will definitely use their tool to transcribe, just like what will you use when you also start transcribing to their job. I advise to read thoroughly their guidelines and samples first, which is also available in their website so you'll know what to do. Good luck and hope you'll pass the test. Are you transcribing for an online company or a private client? I assume that the latter since the online companies never give two hour audio in one piece.

Also all of the online transcription companies I have worked for have their own transcription tools implemented inside their website.

Some are bad but some were really good. I remember a few that had many features like extra amplifying of the audio and more.

I think that Express Scribe is still the best but you can also try: Listen N Write, Hyper Transcribe and Eure Scribe. I hope that this helps BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

I use Express Scribe as it is one of the top software that was recommended to me when I was signed up with a transcribing site. I have not used many other alternatives, but with the time I have put in using this particular program, I can't say I ran into much that I would complain about. All the shortcuts that were in place were perfect for me to do the job efficiently and there were even some add-ons that could make your life even easier such as putting in a pedal and using it alongside the software so you won't have to press buttons to rewind or move forward and instead you could just use the pedal.

I tried this too a couple of times before when I was still doing transcription job for a friend. I never really complained using it before. Probably it has some minor drawbacks but that's just about it. You can still use the software and get the most out of it. It also has amazing features just like any transcribing softwares. Give it a try!

Do they give you a trial test before accepting you? If yes, do they teach you first the basic? I'm very much interested with this kind of job but I don't have a clue on what to do nor how to do it. I also don't know anyone who does this kind of job so I have no one to ask.

I had only done transcription work for a very limited time, but in my experience I found that using Express Scribe was the easiest. I had bit off more than I could chew and tried a bunch of different softwares, but it ended up being the easiest to use of all the downloadable software. That being said, funnily enough the software I actually liked using the most was an in-house, browser based transcription tool created by the company. It was really simply and effective, while a lot of these other softwares tend to be overcomplicated in my opinion. I look for simplicity when it comes to transcription tools.

I just started applying as a transcriber in a transcription site. I don't have any idea about this transcription software. I don't even know there something like this exist. Can you give me an idea how this works? If I happen to be accepted and became a transcriber in the site that I applied for, how is this software can help me ? If it is really helpful, how can I have this and is it free? All of your help will be appreciated, thank you very much.

Express Scribe it is not the best transcript software but it is a software that I use and it is very useful. This software is very easy to use since it has simple control like pause, play, forward, back and you can also set the speed of the video so you can transcribe it more easier and better. Hope you can use it and be able to transcribe any videos or audio file you want to transcribe.

I would recommend GoTranscript since I'm already employed there and earned money. But you can always check the other transcription website like one of the following: transcribeme.com, scribie.com, verbit.ai, rev.com, waywithwordsjobs.com, accutranglobal.com, crowdsurfwork.com, verbalink.com, civimom.com.

I haven't checked and apply in those websites but I think they're legit. Hope you'll find your best transcription job. BEST TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE. ANYONE?

When I applied as a transcriber at a transcribing website, I just used the transcribing too that they offer in their site. For me, their transcribing tool is okay and easy to use. It's user friendly and have a lot of features. I don't beg to disagree in having another transcribing software, if you really want one but I suggest that you use the one that is provided by the site.

I hope to find a more user friendly software that requires less effort but will not reduce my efficiency as a transcriber. I think, like one of the commentators suggested, that using express scribe might just be the cool and better choice for of your transcription software. It is one that is used by many people in the field in doing the works especially when they want to deliver a perfect job for their clients. So, try using express scribe and tell us how you see it.

You may want to try Express Scribe on your computer and you’ll literally become a better typist. This tool let’s you control audio playback so that you never miss a word. Express Scribe supports both audio and video playback and plays most formats, including encrypted dictation files. The tool comes in two versions: a free version, and a premium one. It is worth mentioning that the free version supports only common audio formats, including wav, mp3, wma and dct.

Scribie pays kind of low after you spent hours transcribing an audio file. Try QA World because transcribing is too easy there. The conversations often than not are clear that's why you don't need a software or tool anymore. The QA team is not that strict since they're generous in giving you much room to grow. The learning curve is being provided extensively. No pressure and the Team Leads are very supportive.

But, the best part is they pay higher than the rest.

I tried so many transcription software out there. There are so many transcription software you can search. But like the other people, I go back to Express Scribe. For me, this is the best of all the transcription software I see. It has no alternatice for me. So maybe you should stick to Express Scribe.

I have tried different programs for a long time, but I still stop at the express scribe. It is very convenient and intuitive. I'd add that transcription is not as simple as it appears, and you may come across audio that is difficult to understand. All you have to do is mark it as recommended in any style guide you're using. You're also transcribing a two-hour back-to-back session. That's a significant amount of effort. I'm not sure if there is any program that can assist you. But at the expense of the converter, try my https://coconvert.com/youtube-wav-converter.html. A wonderful thing; it doesn't spoil the quality and the sound.
