I created a video for a local business owner who cleans buildings. The video was just about five minutes long. He paid $312 for the job. Easy money considering it only took an afternoon to complete.

It depends on what the client is looking for.
If it's something extremely simple and isn't needed in a different format, I've charged as low as $1-2/min.
However, if it's lengthy, or if it needs to be in different formatting or if the client wants it burnt on a disc, even if the person lives in another country requiring a different code, etc it most certainly would be more of an out of pocket expense.

I've done 4, 30 min clips for one client. He wanted each one burnt to disc, and sent through the mail. Twice he paid for express mail, and the other two times were just regular mail.

The first 30 minute clip I charged him $50. I purchased the materials needed and I learned about processing, watermarking, etc. I realized the amount of time it takes to do all of those things including the recording. This made me rethink my cost.

The other 3, 30 minute clips I had charged $75. He was happy, and so was I.
The cost included purchasing the required items, and my time for doing the video, processing it, burning it off, then sending it through regular mail. The times he wanted it express, that was an out of pocket expense on his end.

If you are doing bulk videos low-med quality, than fixed price is the best because you don't have to focus on each and every one. If you have to make everything customized with different design and so on, it's by the project, variable price.

I do this by checking the cost of producing any one I made. This normally helps me to be on a profit making side as long as my service are top notch, my clients don't bother paying anything that I ask for.

Although, I mostly add my profit using percentage of the cost of my production and the least percentage that I would add for my clients is from 10% upwards, depending on our previous dealing I might take the percentage up or down.

I think most project depends on the customer involved, if it a financially buoyant client, we could up our price but with a normal client then, the market price should be used. The duration of the video should also be considered, considering that long videos take more time to come up with.it better one take into consideration everything involved to make the video and excellent piece.

I've done some voice over video projects before and I charge on a per project basis.
The price could be as low as $100 for a quick and simple video to thousands of dollars.
Price depends on the lenght, materials available, equipment, location and other specifications that is needed.
