You can probably search for an ideas online and for tutorials also. But what I'm actually doing when I tend to work on designing for my t shirts is first I get the picture of the shirt you can search it online, for example of t shirt let's say black t shirt then the second or the last thing I need is an idea which probably the main logo that you'll make for your design.

I came to this thread seeking for an answer, however, none of the commentators have answered the question properly. Creating a design and placing the design on the T shirt is not very difficult. First of all you need to create a design, your design can be a caption, a logo, a drawing, digital art, photographg etc. Once you do the design, open the picture of the T shirt on photoshop and place the design where you want, back, front, top bottom etc.
This is easy, however, I want to know how do we design the actual t-shirt on photoshop?

There are plenty of options out there when it comes to T shirt design. You can start with the Corel draw and then learn how to optimize the design. Some good templates also work out for the design. I have mostly done the raw design with the coreldraw. So it does take some time. I suggest start with some sort of project and then take your skills ahead. Make t shirts for the zazzle and other similar sites. That should work out.
