Growing potatoes in old tyres!

Ok yes I love gardening, especially when it comes to food that you can grow.

I have not yet done this before but it is big time on my list of things to do one day, and that is growing potatoes in old tyres.

Ok so you take a tyre and put it on a sheet of cardboard. Then add your soil and plant your seeds, potato plants or chitted potatoes (potatoes that have grown shoots).

Then as the potatoes plants grow you add another tyre on top and start slowly filling it with earth. You keep doing this until you have maybe 4 or 5 tyres on top of each other. When your potatoes are ready you just know over the tyre tower and take out your potatoes.

Of course you can do it and even if you make a mistake it is about learning. It is also a hobby so it is not all about eating the food. It is something fulfilling to do and to teach my kids.

I grow potatoes in my back yard. fall is the season when we plant potatoes. Since fall is anon, we are preparing the soil to grow potatoes. We plant almost 100 kgs or potatoes and harvest produce that can last almost for a year. Since I have enough land on my farm to grow potatoes, I have never thought about alternative ways to grow potatoes. I have never seen or even heard anyone growing potatoes in old tyres, however, I think this is a good idea for people who do not have enough ground to grow potatoes.

This is very interesting and cheap way to grow potatoes right in the backyard of the house. This idea of using old tires as pots is very resourceful. You can also get the grown potatoes easily because it will pop out jn the tower of tires.

Growing potatoes in tyres, I haven't really heard about this before and come to think of it, why would I look for a tyre to grow potatoes in when I have a garden of my own. I probably don't know if you are disposed to have your garden, maybe it's why you sought to grow potatoes using old tyres.

I really hope it turns out well for you but I don't if the potatoes would do well compared to the ones grown in a garden. Tyre planting would require lots of added manure to be able to provide the planted potatoes enough mineral nutrients that would help it grow well.

I simply don't see myself doing such because it appears to be more stressful than actually cultivating in the garden.
