Has anyone of you ever used the portable mobile pen scanner?

Has anyone of you ever used the mobile pen scanner that is available today in most online stores? I am planning to buy one. I've seen reviews on youtube but I want an honest review from a user and what brand do you suggest that is good to purchase?

As a warning before you continue reading, I honestly haven't even heard of the existence of these pens until now, so I'm not going to be of very much use here.

That being said, these things are fascinating! I had no idea that the technology existed to scan documents on the go. I kind of wish this existed during my days in High School when copying my friend's homework, ha!

All jokes aside, I looked up a few models on Amazon and it would seem that the Scanmarker Air Pen Scanner seems to be getting the best reviews. Another good company seems to be IRISPen, which are a Canon company (and I love Canon), but there are multiple 1 star reviews it seems. Then again usually the people that give 1 star reviews either had a rare bad experience or are just dummies.

I'm with you! This is new to me as well--it's like top secret CIA spy technology or something, lol. I think this is a fascinating invention as well, and I would not mind owning one of these at all. Thanks for this review info here as well, Denis--that's a good start for a guy like me who is new to this technology (as you were yourself, apparently, before this thread). I can think of SO many applications for this product in my office and teaching work, definitely.

Yeah, like both of you, I had no clue that this kind of thing even existed. It definitely sounds pretty cool and something a secret agent would have. Personally, I would not buy it because I don't see why I would really need to have a portable scanner but I guess some people will find it useful especially if they are working but have to move around a lot.

So I guess I understood it wrong because I thought it was some sort of a scanner like one that you would get in one of those three-in-one printers. So this mobile pen scanner basically types whatever you scan which is quite cool I guess and really helpful if you write drafts. Can it recognise handwriting though?

Hahaha...I wish I was there back during your school days just as you wish this device has existed back then, this way I'll get to expose you for the copy cat you were. Lol

Am on the same side of not knowing this device even exist just as you said. It really sounds like a cool device to use..plus it's handy nature makes it even a better device. I'll go check it and see what's more to it. I might just be needing one soon.

Oh this mobile portable pen scanner is alike your printer scanner but the device is small, scan across your A4 document, slowly but you will get some words missing and gibberish words replaced. It is convenient but not 100% correct. You need to edit them, unlike the real flatbed scanner that scans everything perfectly. By the way, I had used it in 2005. This is an old gadget.

@peachpurple Thank you very much for your detailed info. I was also considering to buy this device as my work requires scanning documents. I have a scanner in my office, however, when I am outdoors I have to use my phone as a scanner. However, scanning from the phone does not work well, therefore I was thinking to get a pen scanner., If this device does not catch every word, I may never buy it.

not worth to spend your money on it, just another gadget that is not 100% useful for us.

Thanks for the detailed information on the old device I thought was new. I bet we didn't hear much about it due to it's limited functions. If it weren't as bad as you stated, it would have been all over the place. I was just about to do a review check on it before coming across your comment. Maybe I still might check it out though. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it's convenient, but not very reliable so not worth it in my opinion.

It good for scanning your files just like the normal scanner, you should just research on the features you'll like for each brand and the one that would suit your taste better.I will prefer you go for old models.

This is the first I could be hear about such a pen scanner. I would be glad if you can tell me the the old models you're talking about for I would be interested as well.

I've only looked at videos of it, but it certainly looked interesting, I haven't gotten the chance to try it, because it's not a necessity and I'm not that interested in it, however I am curious in seeing if it would actually work properly in different environments and with different types of text.

Was it on youtube that you watched it or you downloaded it on the internet? I'm quite curious to see how it works and that's got to show that there has been an improvement in technology.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I am sure that it was on the internet, but I don't remember which site, it might have been on some news site that I saw on Facebook, however I'm pretty sure that you can find some videos on Youtube.

I think with type written/computerized letters, the chances of acquiring error is minimal. I was thinking about the handwritten words. Is is possible to scan it too? without getting frustrated in the end for spending too much time on scanning and THEN editing it?

I have only had the opportunity to test one of these pen scanners at a convention. They were presenting them and showing how they work. As cool as they might be, if I'm completely honest, I would wait a bit longer to purchase one. They still have to work on the actual application and how the pen registers words. It will make quite many mistakes and it can be annoying if you're in a rush trying to "scan" the paper document. If you do end up buying it, don't buy the cheapest kinds but rather invest into it so aim at mid-budget.

I completely agree with you on getting one of the best around and not on getting anyone from the internet. I would wait a bit longer to see how those that uses it react as well.

I haven't used, tried or even heard about this thing. But I think you can try searching it on eBay or on Amazon as well, like they have the best products that an online store can give or sell. If you want a cheap one then try the Aliexpress website, where they sell the cheapest value or the amount for an item.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Tronia
But would getting the cheapest kind really be smart considering that this technology that the pen scanner uses is sort of new in this shape and form? Not many companies will be able to deliver a high-quality product as it is and even the most popular brands have many faults... now imagine one of the cheaper kinds. It would probably make ten times more errors.

I have seen the demo on the YouTube. And it seems like the scanning of notes can be good product. And it can have the benefit of both real book plus the copying. So that's another thing that many people can consider. You can see that pen scanner need to be cheap to be spread on bigger level. That's what I have noticed so far. It's different for each scenario though.

Well... I've heard many things about it, but I haven't particularly had the opportunity to use it. So, I don't have my own opinion formed about the effectiveness - or not - of it. But it's a part of the future (and even those who aren't very familiar with it have to agree).

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
It's part of the future and one that we all should look at when preparing things we want to do in the future. The pen scanner is something we should take a look at in the end.

Wow I didn't even know this existed until I read this thread. This is some pretty impressive technology and I would have loved to have had one of this when I was still in school. Although I think I would still have been fairly lazy despite having this tool if I'm being completely honest. I think this provides great convenience though especially if you need something like this for your job. I looked up some reviews on Youtube and C-pen seems to be a good one to get for a fair priced one with good functionality.

Now this is beginning to sound like a 007 spy gadget. I've never heard Of a thing like a portable mobile pen scanner. Do they even exist? Can we get a glimpse? Am saying we because I know a lot of people here haven't heard of it too. I guess i have to do a search then com back with a valid response.

Although it looks pretty useful, I still wouldn't get it. Checking out some reviews, I found is not as perfect as it looks like, you can miss words in the process, or sometimes full lines, so looks really double work if you have to scan it and then edit it. Also, this gadgets tend to be way too expensive, so until it gets really good, and can make its work in a proper way, then I choose to keep using the flat one.

Okay now I am new to this kind of things, I never thought of the existence of such technologies, I only seen commercials about 3D printers and a wristband which can do every other activities with your just one click (phone activities) .

Your thread sort of open my eyes to the wonders of it, when I saw your thread I quickly went to the Google search engine to check it out, it is cool it also have nice features and it is easy to use if you follow the guidelines. From the reviews I got and the ratings too, no one complained of any issues with it and I feel you are good to go, If you have the money just go for it I will definitely get one for my self soon.

This is the first time I am hearing about mobile pen scanner. To be honest, I am not sure that I will ever need this. I have downloaded a free scanner application from PlayStore and I have been using this for some years and it works wonderfully. I have never had any issues with this. Anyway, I have learnt something new today.

Wait, doesn't a mobile phone camera act as a scanner now? there is still an app for this? What's the app name?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes it does, android mobile phone now come with applications that works as a scanner which you can use and scan any of your files or documents. The application I make use of in my phone for such scanning task is called "CamScanner". I hardly go to business centers to scan my documents.

Mobile Pen Scanner? I haven't heard of this before and to be honest with you, I'm not sure that I'm going to be interested in finding out more about it. Looking at how it could be, I believe it's likely to be gadgets meant for spying which if there is going to be a model out there for the general public to buy, they won't be of the same quality like the ones government officials uses.

Well, pick one that has a faster bluetooth data transfer rate, I'm using an old world pen model and it takes a long time to do transfers. I've seen a newer model that has a quick edit function that would be a good thing to consider.

I have heard about this before but never actually imagined that it really existed. It would be nice to have one portable mobile pen scanner. What I see about this technology is that it would be at trend once widely commercialized. See, the way we use this technology can give us much convenience in storing data from hardcopy to your device. You don't need to bring you printer scanner just to scan a small piece of paper which I think I find to be bothersome.
I am hoping to have something like this here in our country.

I have yet to use one. It sounds cool. But based on what I've read, it has limitations. It's not good for getting important info from written documents. It can make mistakes.

Pen scanners has its uses mostly in the corporate world in scanning signatures and other important data but it could be said that it's now a specialized tool designed for special uses only. Nowadays if you need something to copy all you have to do is to take a photo with your Smartphone and edit it or save it on your phone.

<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}Yes, I have been using mobile pen scanner for about 3 years. And I'll tell you this is very convenient. It
saves me a lot of time. When I didn't have such a printer, I ran to the library and stationery stores.
To print out the papers I need. And I spent quite a lot of money on it.
And when I bought a mobile pen scanner at home, it became much more
convenient. However, it is a little difficult to find a cartridge. I
haven't seen it in any stores. Then I ordered a cartridge on
https://www.mrdepot.ca/collections...toner-cartridges. And so in
it doesn't any disadvantages.
