Christmas is the time to showcase your art around your Christmas Tree. How different was yours?

There are several outlets where one can showcase one's artistic ability, during Christmas time specially adorning the Christmas Tree.   I did it differently this time.  I did up our dead fig tree which had a big star, blue lights, and blue and silver garlands.  The tree looked dashingly beautiful specially in the night with those tiny blue flickering lights and the star

I love, love blue christmas decorations. Most of the christmas trees I've seen this year have been blue and they look stunning. I also love the christmas season and getting involved in the decorating. This year I made the kids make decorations out of junk to signify environmental sustainability. We used bottle tops, old pieces of paper and boxes and plastic bottles. Our decorations were amazing and it's shocking what you can come up with, when you put your mind to it.

Although today we care more for form than substance it does bring the family together. Those little disagreements what goes where and finally the completion of the tree being admired by the entire family is an activity that is priceless.

For years I've kind of just brushed off having a tree as some chore that isn't really all that necessary but this thread has really made me feel like I'm missing out on having an activity I can express myself in once a year. I think doing things differently made me appreciate this from a different perspective.

The love of red and it's touch in decorating have always been my favorite. Red shows love, it signifies a time of love just like valentine's day but in a different reality of Christ birth and the inception of our salvation.

My niece bought Christmas tree from Manila. It was bought online. It was delivered two days ago. It was soon unpacked and assembled. There is also Christmas light that goes with it.

I remembered our Christmas decoration when I was still in elementary school. First we choose a tree to be decorated. Then we will decorate it using paper. We were also to make a Christmas star using bamboo and paper.

Yea, that was nice of you and it looks great too.Nothing can beat creativity.it makes a simple fix looks so awesome.I tried with my Christmas I wished I took a pic of it would have also posted for others to see.I think I and the kids did a good work on it.it was beautifully adorned with our starlight of many colors and shiny bulbs to illuminate the tree, then some fanciful planks to hold it standing, it looks beautiful and amazing as well.

It looked better during the night as we had those blue lights that added to the art. We miss this tree when it was yielding. The fruits were enjoyable and so did the look of the tree. It was a haven for birds as well

If your tree is still up you could perhaps take a snap and post it here.

You can never do away with the lights whenever you are looking at getting a better and a mind blowing Christmas decorations. It's the lights that gives your decorations a sense of life in it which makes more appealing and easily noticed. A mixture of several colored lights gives a more better and teasing decorative setting.

Yours is definitely perfect, and unique in some ways. Mine would be just a normal Christmas Tree but lots of decorations and of course the Christmas lights, which would make or give the tree a holiday look and to make it bright as well. And also, the last decorations we love to put is the gifts ( fake gifts Christmas is the time to showcase your art around your Christmas Tree. How different was yours?) under the tree. I would honestly say that some are fake and some are real. Christmas is the time to showcase your art around your Christmas Tree. How different was yours?

My camera did not do justice as you can see I could not cover the full tree which was only possible when I took a video of it Our tree looked great in the night with blue tiny simmering lights.

I feel you there. I always try to show my Christmas decorations to my friends and relatives through pictures, and they never look as well as they really are. Anyway, I think a picture at night, would have been great, with all the lights and maybe kids or your family standing there. Your tree looks really good, and I'm sure you had a lot of compliments about it, great job.

I always make sure that our Christmas tree is different from the Christmas tree we had the other year. So that means a different kind of color motif, decorations, light color and creative additions. This year we had a native type concept. So we had the capiz shell decorations with a touch of salacot or the broad-brimmed woven strips of cane or from palm leaves which makes it very attractive. Then encircled with green non twinkling lights around the tree and a little bit of green colored ribbons makes up my Christmas tree. It has been around for 4 years already and still not planning to change it for as long as it is still useful. Kids get so attracted that they kept still as they watch the Christmas tree glow. Such a wonderful time setting it up and I can feel the cold ambiance of the holiday season around.

Wow, completely different every year? Does that mean you buy completely new decorations and ornaments as well? That's pretty dedicated and far more effort than I have ever put into the tree, haha!

I would love to see some pictures of your tree as well. Also, in my country, almost all trees are in four colors; white, red, silver or gold.

That idea of having just green lights must have enhanced the look of your tree giving it a natural hue. Wish you posted a picture as going by your description it sure seems to be unique.
Doing up the Christmas tree is a family effort making it a joyful experience.

Aw, that's a very nice tree and the decorations look great. I wasn't as creative because I don't really do too much when it comes to the tree. We just have one of those medium sized plastic ones.

Me and my partner decorate it together with different bought ornaments and some were also gifted to us over the year. It isn't anything "outstanding". Just a Christmas tree that we decorated with loads of love.

It's good to read that you and your partner developed the tree and its nice that it worked well at the end. One thing is the unity that came with doing so.

That is what doing up the Christmas tree - it creates loads of love around specially when it is done together with loved ones. The shops always have something new each year and that could give a tree a new look each year.

The decorations looks fabulous, I must say that I'm a bit jealous of the work done there. It took a good number of hours if not days before that decoration was perfected the way it was. We had a little Christmas tree and structure of Santa in our family home. Some of my cousins took a picture in front of it. Christmas is the time to showcase your art around your Christmas Tree. That is so nice to see. I love how people decorate the family trees in their yard in time for the festive season. We have four large trees in our backyards, 2 of them are fruit bearing trees. It's difficult to decorate them since we have regular tenants there, namely the common birds and an ant hive. I say ant hive, because these are the large ants that live on trees because of the fruits and they do not have hills but live on dried leaves up there. So I wouldn't bother decorate them although it's such a delight to change your backyard once a year and can create a cheerful sight to it. I do put up our christmas tree every year with the same ornaments every other year though. I mix and match decorations because I no longer buy new decors because I am trying to be eco friendly. haha!

It is not easy to decorate an yielding tree but our fig tree has die and it has some artistic branches. Care was taken not to climb on the tree as it is fragile. We had engaged someone to do that for us under our instructions. They had used a ladder and also a long bamboo to spread the light and decorations.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Decorating a live tree for Christmas is going to be a very straining job because it might require pruning to get it in shape to accommodate the decoration. This is entirely the reason why I prefer buying a Christmas tree and have it decorated in doors.

That is really cool what you did! You took the "dead" tree and brought it to life with holiday spirit. I think that, as a metaphor, this is a really good way to remind people that a new year is coming and that it is never too late to re-create ourselves. I look at what you did as symbolic of that--maybe I am reading too much into it, but I think that's really cool. That being said, we decorate our tree with a lot of inherited ornaments which have a great deal of sentimental value to them while adding new touches every year. I especially like the hand-made ornaments from the children in our family on our tree.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

iamawriter
It indeed is symbolic specially when we had a party for seniors from an old age home. It was with them in mind that this idea struck. Needless to say there were others who thought like you when they saw the tree.
I did not expect that it would look so pretty. Those blue lights in the night truly make the tree look magnificent.

Definitely, a nice and creative Christmas tree you have there. The color combination is perfect and nice placement of all the decors.

Our Christmas tree is also made out of a dead fig tree, but what we did was we peeled off the bark or skin of it, then painted it white. Just like yours, we also decorated it with lights, laces, glittery garlands and Christmas balls. I thought we could have a better one if we chose a dead tree with more branches in it.

But nevertheless, however the tree may look light, it just gives us that very wonderful feeling of Christmas season as we look at them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

iamawriter
I am so happy to hear this. So you painted it white. I felt keeping it natural would make it look better. To each their own. Our tree had artistic looking branches. I was afraid they would break and so whoever helped us put up tree decorations was told not to climb the tree. It is the idea and its implementation that adds to the happiness.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

leeyong88
Yeah, we painted it because it looks unclean as some parts of the branches had already peeled off barks. So painting it with white made it neat to look at, and at the same time, gives you the feeling of white Christmas.

But we had it the same, we need not to climb on it as we decorated it first before making it stand up.

The Christmas tree looks beautiful and one that I wished I had during the festive period. However, I was unable to do so and jump have to put some lights at the house and that's how we celebrated the period.

I am not a Christain, therefore, there are no Christmas celebrations for me. However, I believe that festivals are the time when you can showcase your house decoration skills and cooking skills. many people believe that house decoration and cooking are limited to women, however, this belief promotes sexism. men and women, both can get involved with house decoration and cooking.

That is true! It is also more fun to decorate and cook together! Celebrations are all about FOOD and LOVE no matter what is being celebrated! I think unique traditions are the best, maybe I will try to do something cool like this to a poor, dead tree next year.

We didn't make a Christmas tree last December. The previous years when we did, it was some branches from a Cyprus tree. We put it together to make a small tree then decorate it with the Christmas decorations.

That looks awesome and innovative at the same way. In our case, we still use the typcial green Christmas Tree but we do something nice to look it more beautiful than the last time. I search for some DIY crafts that I can put in the tree. I also asked some advice to my family on what are the best creative ways to design our Christmas Tree. There is one thing we don't change at all. It is putting a lot of gifts under our Christmas Tree. It is like our tradition every year.

We have to thank the stores who come up with new things each year. The year before last I had got them from China - a whole lot of new ideas. There were tiny santas, gift boxes, hockey sticks, sweets, icicles, and ofcourse tinsels. I noticed those imported tinsels had a great finish unlike what we get here.

I haven't made something great as you did, but we had a night in the family to create a homemade decoration for Christmas with our kid. We are doing this every year, it became a tradition for us to create small biscuits, or garlands, paint some pinecones.

I can say that our tree is somewhat different because it's made out of mostly e-waste (electronic waste. The leaves are made out of PCBs and the star is made out of ram sticks. We also put lights on it in order for it to look more attractive.

I would have loved seeing a photo of your creation. I like innovative ideas and yours seems unique - probably a" Guinness Book " candidate? I cannot imagine how you could have used ram sticks for stars. I am not a techie and so I am justified in showing my ignorance (lol)

We have a pretty typical decoration of our tree every year, so it doesn't really change that much, there isn't really point in spending too much time on it, however there's also nothing wrong with it too, if you're having fun then that's okay. We are not really competing with anyone, so the look we give to our tree every year is pretty much the same, even though it has it's own beautiful look that can always warm your heart when you look at it, during the cold winter nights.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

One thing I have noticed and that is even if they are the same decorations one can never repeat how it was put up in previous years. There is bound to be change. What matters is that one enjoys the process and not do it as a routine.

This was one of the best Christmas I had after ages. My sister and her two children stayed at our place this Christmas. We bought many decorations this year and we decorated the whole house. The children were really pleased. We also bought a new Christmas tree which I decorated with the help of my sister and her two children. We even put some decorations in the yard outside. I love Christmas as I get to meet my whole family at this time of the year. Since we are in summer over here we had the traditional lunch on the veranda.

I have never decorated a Christmas tree before, I let my folks and siblings do that because I find it very boring same with the idea of Christmas present being kept at the side of the tree, I do admire Christmas trees especially those with beautiful colors and objects.

If peradventure you give me a Christmas tree to decorate, you are going to chase me with a wooden stick because of the outcome.

Looks like a good decoration. We didn't do much decor this year. As I spent most of the time at the workplace. And had to deorate that place for most of the time. I think on that basis I'd surely say that christmas is a bit harder to handle in these days. It can be time packing for sure. Good to read about how other people decorated.

I hung "egg surprise" eggs toys and even bubble bottles. My son placed Hulk on the side of our Xmas Star. It's more of full of love than art that built up. It has happiness, joy, innocence, and laughter. I find our Xmas tree full of my kids' wonders, playful giggles, and excitement over Santa Claus. We have a lot presents under our tree and lots of pretty lights with various colors.

Yes we have different talent especially in the arts either myself. So I did my best to design our Christmas tree. I put various kinds of things about Christmas. It's great to see your idea come to life. I never liked the idea of cutting down a living tree and try making it look beautiful with the artificial lighting. So in this regard, your idea was great.

I did something different as well. You don't need a pine tree to celebrate a Christmas so I used the trees around my house to decorate it into a Christmas tree, in their natural state without harming them, and it looked beautiful. We should discourage the act of cutting down trees every Christmas.

Well it's only once a year so might as well go 'all in.' You should never do Christmas half-way. It comes 1 day out of the other 364 days. Also all of your hard work won't go to waste because you basically keep your decor up for a whole month.

I am terrible when it comes to Christmas decoration and home decoration in general. For one thing, I not only don't care much when it comes to decorating my home, but I also just don't have an eye for these things. If anti-Feng Shui was a thing, I would be a master of it. On the other hand, my mother could work as a professional interior designer and she has absolutely zero experience when it comes to design. She just has a natural talent for it. That is exactly why I always invite her over and let her do the decorating for me, haha.

It is not actually the Christmas tree that I used last Christmas. It was a group of bamboo pipes with leaves on them. I have put them in a flower vase, decorated with Christmas lights and some red Christmas balls. This is my way of being resourceful instead of buying a new Christmas tree and new decorations which will cost me a lot.

I have actually seen one funny Christmas tree decorations, and could you guess the tree that was actually decorated? It was a palm tree, I was like how did the person pull this off because the palm tree was quite tall but the decoration on it was very impressive.

The palm fronds were drawn down and tied in some patterns with other sorts of colors ropes, balloons and papers. It looked pretty amazing.

This year we are entering a local contest of recycling. We are putting up a 6 ft. tall Christmas tree made from plastic bottles. The idea may not really be new but it certainly is different for us. For one, we can't use the usual decor from stores so we have to be creative for ornaments such as Christmas balls made from strips of plastic bottle and tin man made from tin cans of sodas. It really is turning out to be a fun project.

Hmm .. I'm sure It looks much better at night than in the photograph. The whole charm of the Christmas tree lies in its lights, which flicker, and unfortunately it is impossible to show it during the day. It's a shame you didn't take a picture of her at night. I think she would be much more beautiful. Although I wonder why you decided to decorate it? Just to decorate your yard or is it a complete replacement for the tree? If this is a replacement for a Christmas tree, then I don't understand you .. It seems to me that it would be easier to purchase an artificial Christmas tree and install it in the house near the festive table, it would be much more atmospheric (IMHO). Although I'm glad you did something like that, it's very original and original things are hard to come across now. I became convinced of this while looking for a new painting for my living room. Fortunately, word art online helped me quickly deal with this problem, but I am still sad that humanity is becoming less original every year Christmas is the time to showcase your art around your Christmas Tree. How different was yours?
