I say for Halloween, but you can visit these places any time of the year and there is claimed to be much activity and a ghoulishly, fiendishly sick and twisted real life story that comes with each of them. I must warn you though, some of these places have been claimed to be haunted for real for many years and they go above and beyond the normal "scarapy" "scare therapy" that you might be looking for. You wont go to hell for visiting these places, but you may just discover a part of hell within them and that is something that can leave behind real physiological and psychological scars.

With that, are you ready to be scared and amazed!?

1. The Dent Schoolhouse in Cincinnati

What's so scary about the The Dent Schoolhouse in Cincinnati? It doesn't look like anything particular scary. From the outside it just looks like your everyday schoolhouse. But do a bit of research into it and you'll soon find out that it has a real life horror story attached to it that resembles that of a Wes Craven movie and makes Freddy Krueger look like a kids morning cartoon show! This school is reported to be haunted by the ghosts of some of the old students that were murdered by Charlie the Janitor.

Although a national recognized attraction, and the schoolhouse does put on a bit of a spoofy show employing performers to shock and scare people as they're shown around or walk around on their own. The story of Charly the Janitor murdering the kids is true story where several students, known for their "disruption in the class room" just mysteriously vanished last seen at the school itself. More and more unruly kids kept going missing and then people started complaining about the smell coming from the basement.

Eventually more kids kept going missing and the smell would return and even be as strong as to make some kids faint! Eventually the town banded together and stormed the school knocking down the big doors and gaining access to the basement where they made a grisly discovery of dead decaying bodies. The schoolhouse was eventually closed down but it's said that the ghosts or spirits of the kids killed there roam the empty hallways and corridors and classrooms within it.

This looks insane! This is probably one of the scariest haunted houses i have ever seen. Just by looking at the video and seeing how much time and effort was put in i can tell. I don't like being scared to the point of crapping my pants so i do not attend these events. I hear that places like this make you sign a waiver form incase you scare yourself into shock. I can just look at the outside and i can tell that this place is no joke. I bet they are making a killing on admission too. Thanks for sharing!

This looks awesome but I would never visit such a place myself. First of all, because I don't like these kind of things. I don't watch scary movies, horror movies or anything like that because I honestly think they are lame and predictable. So I kind of hate these things but my girlfriend loves horror movies and everything that has to do with ghost and things like that, so a visit to a place like this would probably be like the best gift I could ever give her. - That being said.. I can't just force her to go inside meanwhile I chill outside.. That doesn't seem fair. Top 10 Real Scary Haunted Attractions to Visit in America for Halloween

Last year I visited the top destination in terms of "haunted attractions" Bran castle in Transilvania, located in Romania. The visit was during the day as the castle is mostly closed at night but nevertheless, it was an interesting experience! Claims to be the official home of Vlad the Impaler (Dracula), even though history doesn't quite put it that way. Still, nice share Mike, thanks!

This post is right up my alley. I love all things haunted, and i have visited and explored several haunted places around America. I visited the Whaley house in old San Diego, and that was terrifying, and I stayed in the haunted hotel in Jerome, Arizona, and I did not sleep a wink that night. i know I should not unduly tempt the supernatural, but I really enjoy the adrenaline rush of being scared. These places come with and leave you with great stories to share.

I'm definitely looking forward to this upcoming Halloween party celebration, I have already gotten my best Halloween costume which is still going to remain a secret as I wouldn't want anyone to know the character that I crave to become so bad.

But what I can absolutely promise you or anyone is that I would incite the greatest fear that anyone has ever felt before once this Halloween party kicks off. So buckle up your seat belt because you are all in for a one hell of a ride through the fear city.

New York city and the Tri state area in general has some great Halloween activities. From the parade in the village, to Six Flags Frightfest across the river in New Jersey.

After reading this post I wanted to know more and I did a search of The Dent Schoolhouse. I also watched some YouTube videos. To be honest, I don't think that I will ever be able to visit such a place. I can't even watch horror movies and I hate going out late at night. I am chicken-hearted and visiting this schoolhouse is out of the question. However, my boyfriend will for sure like to visit this place. He will have to go there without me.
