Scary books

Some of the most frightening moments of my life have come about while reading a scary/horror story such as one of the Steven King novels. I'm still not sure how books can so easily influence the mind to make it believe a scenario is real. After all, these are just words that we say to ourselves. Maybe that's what makes them real as we are internalizing the emotions of the characters to make them our own. I'm never even so scared when watching a horror movie, which I often find to be laughable. What is it about scary books that is so scary?

And, which horror fiction stories are your favorites?

I haven't read any kind of scary books but I love watching scary movies or shows. I guess it's better to watch scary things than to read it. Because in movies there are more of visualizations and it feels like it's real when you watch it rather than reading the book.

Definitely Stephen King's books are very creepy. It is very intriguing, thrilling and very disturbing. But I don't get scared, I have faith in God.

I have mirakee app where I post the scary stories myself. I have an alias there with name "spiral tales". The stories under that title seems to be going to earn some good readership so far. You can see that people who are into the scary books. They can check out most of the short stories and horrors. It seems like the content is rare these days. But you can change this and add some value as well. Based on that part you can see that I personally don;t find much time there as well to read. I am getting more into writing such stories.

My friend handed me two books to read during a recession at work and I finished reading and became horrified. It was a mixture of thrill, suspense, and horror. For days I couldn't sleep well and I couldn't stop reading them either. There are Milton bach's series very creeping storylines.

I have read lots of scary books and also watched some movies that really scared me that I couldn't sleep. That was when I was still growing and I must say that those moments are the moments I always wish to sleep close to my dad every night.

I have read a lot of books in my life I have even tried some documentary books or autobiographies but I never read a scary book. I don't think such a book will offer me some interesting information, or even to stimulate my imagination, it would scare me and I would not sleep anymore!

I have read horror stories and novels. I have read the classics like Frankenstein and Dracula, as well modern horror novels from Stephan King. However, horror is not my favorite genre in literature. I enjoy watching horror movies though. Some of my all-time best movies are horror movies.

I have read many scary story books and I quite liked some of them. However when it comes to horror movies I cannot really watch them. I think the sound effects and images are quite disturbing and being chicken-hearted it is very difficult for me to watch those movies. If I happen to watch any scary movie then I usually can't sleep at night.

Stephen King books are really good, specially if you love horror/terror/suspense. I like books from Robin Cook, which writes medical/horror stories, and he really knows about that theme. But I read a book many years ago, The Manitou by Graham Masterton, that is really scary. It's based on reencarnation of an evil Indian spirit, and all that happens to the woman that carries him. If you are into horror, then this is the book to read. There's a movie about it too, but I rather read the book and then watch the movie, so I leave it to you.

I like reading books that are more on the sci-fi thing or rather have the alien abduction story line, like these two genres are perfect to a horror and a sci-fi combination for a book. Reading this books not just confused and makes me anxious about something but it also makes me more excited, like it makes me think or ask myself that "Is it real?", "does it really exist?", something like that.

I have ever read a scary book before and I liked the thrilling feeling it gave me. I can't remember the title but the book had no consistent pages. Page one would ask me to go to page 22, and after reading the continuation of the story, I will asked to go to page 110. I felt like I was playing in a horror movie when I was just reading a book and following instructions. I was 13 years old back then.

If you really love horror, I recommend the Books of Blood series by Clive Barker. They are a collection of stories and true horror. You won't be able to sleep for weeks.
