Fiction Vs Non-fiction books - which do you prefer to read?

I love some fictional novels, I've grown up on them. Both in school at home. Hey - we never had the Internet, smartphones or tablets back then! Although we did have the SNES but I wasn't really a big gamer back then. When I was growing up, my parents had a lot of books. And I used to try and read all of them that they had read. Mostly though they were novels, story books, fantasy, medieval stories and the like. They were a great form of escapism as some novels are!

But in my late teens I started reading non-fiction books, peoples biographies, journals, true stories and stuff. And self-help books and the like. And I prefer to read books like these because they actually teach me stuff about people or about the world, philosophy, science, cultures and society and stuff like that. Books that actually teach me something about the world, about life and how to improve and better my life and understanding of it!

But of course, some novels are really good reads as well. They can be really enthralling to read and get the blood pumping. Some are real page turners like that!

But what about you? What do you prefer to read?

Fictions (novels) or non-fictions?

I love fiction books more. I love the escapism and the going into a different world and another life. There is nothing quite like a good fantasy book.

I also really enjoy things like Maeve Binchy, the way she wrote is just so amazing. She really knew how to bring a character to life!

I don't watch much tv so reading is my favorite treat of all.

Yes I do read some non-fiction, my favorite being books about spirituality and self-help. I've read a few autobiographies and I really enjoy the ones written by drug addicts since I am an addict in recovery. I find it inspirational and educational.

I'd go for fiction rather than non-fiction books. I love reading fantasy books since my mom bought me the Snow White storybook when I was a child. I'm a fan of fantasy books regardless of the fact that this is all are fictions. It is only in these books where the so called happy endings I long for only happens.

I like reading fiction as well as non fiction, however, if I have to choose one, I will choose non fiction. Fiction is the body of an idea and non-fiction is the soul. I like reading on philosphy, culture, religion, anthropology. These sibjects will enlighten me and give me better understand of the world and the people living here.

I like to read both kind too. With fiction, you can experience something that is not real, somehow like escaping somewhere else. But with non fiction, you have an experienced that maybe are going through right now, or have been in the past. Sometimes non fiction books make you think about yourself, and what you are doing right now. And that way, you can even get some effective tools to deal with it.

I prefer fiction books, especially children story books where the imagination goes beyond the reality. Harry Potter is a good fiction story that takes any child into the witchery world. Although it is not real but gives the amazement of flying brooms, talking pictures and the wand that could do magic. I also love Enid blyton books, telling the stories of animals and morals.

I prefer fiction over non-fiction. Better stories, more entertainment value, overall better intrigue. I only read non-fiction if it's a book about learning a new skill or informing myself about something or a task which I wish to perform. Also if it's a novel about a popular or interesting public figure, event or historical occurrence.

I absolutely prefer fiction over non-fiction and just like as what others says, fiction has a better and exciting stories and has a lot of of punch to the audience. And also, fictional love stories would be the best option for me to read.

l love fictional books maybe I day dream a lot and have very wild imagination. I love fairy tales and fantasy and that's exactly what fiction is all about. I don't take life so serious so a little exaggeration here and there in a book wouldn't hurt.I love abstract books.

I prefer fiction. The reason being lot of non fiction stuff has bended facts in it. And it makes a boring read. You can see that some of the time fictional books are not properly written. And there seems to be a lot of interesting of them out there. If you can find a niche that suits your taste. Then amazon kindle has plenty of those books for you to read. It'd be fun to read some of them over the weekend. Atleast that is what I do most of the time.
