Books or a e-reader?

Which do you prefer? A book or an e-reader? I never used to think that I would like an e-reader such as a kindle, but I love mine now and do much more reading on it.

I prefer to have a physical book. Do no think that it is the same on an ereader.

I am going to have to say the book. I just like having that to hold onto.

With all the technology around us, it's nice to have access to something from the "old school". I prefer the real thing... Books! Actual books made with paper! I like hard and soft covered... Preferably soft cover so I can bend it back. I know! I know! I shouldn't do that... But I do! I don't even use bookmarks, I bend the pages.

I like the smell of books, and the feeling of them. When you get to those certain spots of your story and you take a few minutes to reflect upon them; resting your book just under your nose you can smell the distinct aroma of paper. Depending on how old the book is, and where it was stored the scent could be stronger than others. You can't get that type of experience with a kindle. Even when it comes to turning the pages! The feel of the paper, and the sound of the page as it's being turned cannot be replaced. Books are something I can read steadily and won't give me a headache because of the constant bright light coming from the screen, or be a distraction to others. Books are something I can continue to read without worrying about the batteries going dead or some technological mishap. If you drop your book, it's not going to break or crack. You can LEND a book to a friend without worrying about your entire library going out on an expensive piece of electronic equipment, that may not be treated as delicately by your friend as it would be by you.

Can't say the same about e Readers though. Not in the least.

Books all the way!

I love the smell of old paperback books. Reminds me of books I had when I was a child reading alone in my room. These books take me to far away places. I would not give up the experience of reading paperback books for anything else, even technology.

The smell is great for books but carrying them all around, having to use bookmarks, driving to an actual book store to get new books and wasting a lot of space on shelves are a few reasons I prefer ereaders.

What you said brings back memories of a trip to the mall a long time back. Anyway, they had this amazing sale on paperback books and I stocked up. I spent about $100 on books and had to lug two huge bags of books by myself out to the car. My arms were sore for a week. It was not my finest hour. Books or a e-reader?

So yeah, for sure, Kindle rocks on convenience and light weight reading.

You can't beat it for the lightweight quality and portability, especially if you are going on a trip and need something to entertain yourself. No need to carry along multiple paperbacks when so many fit onto your Kindle.

I've been wanting to buy a tablet or Kindle ereader so I can enjoy ebooks and magazines when I can't be on the computer. Maybe I can get this for Christmas. Books or a e-reader?

eBooks typically cost less than paper books to purchase. And, you can also download books for free using online free ebook sites. You can also find many classics available for free on Amazon.
Many libraries also have eBook lending services, where you can check out books online. The books will automatically be “returned” once your loan period is over (ie. no library fines).

I always prefer books to e-reader. Because, I love to handle books physically. It gives me a feel good kind of experience, while turning the pages asI go through. This experience can never be attained by an e-book.

I agree that e-books are way more convenient than normal books; so I used to read them only while travelling.

Kindle ebook reader seems to be good. You can see that eReader such as this can be good in many ways. You just have to understand that some of the ereaders have their own set of the power and other limits. I personally did not have much understanding of other ereaders. But so far only used the Kindle ebooks reader. And it seems to be good and less burden on the eyes. That's what I have learned over a period of time.

I think real books do have their own benefit. But not all the time they can be good enough for many of us. So one has to consider that part too.

I'm quite comfortable reading books instead of the e-reader. I mean reading a book affords you the chance to always have access to it even in the next 20 years or when your mobile device is down.

I agree books can be fun. I have changed of heart over the device vs the books. It seems like books are better if you are reading them in the train or so. And they can be fun to read while you travel especially. That's what I have learned.

I prefer physical copies. They are easier to read and my eyes feel better reading paper books. I don't know why, but e-readers make my eyes tired. I also feel safer having the physical copy because a digital one can always disappear or you can delete it by mistake.

Well, before now I really used to like reading physical books than e-reader maybe because I never really have access to the internet but as I'm able to afford my data and using the internet often I read more of ebooks now and I'm so used to it that I don't find physical books convenience. With ebooks, you can store it for ages and read it anytime but for physical books it can get torn and some pages will be missing.

I don't have an ebook reader. Whenever I have to read an ebook, I read it on my computer or on my smartphone (the screen is 7 inch). I have never thought about buying an ebook reader, in fact, I do not need an ebook reader. If I buy an ebook reader it will just be a waste of money. I love reading physical books.

A good reader can read whatever you give. But, if you ask me which one I prefer, then for sure the real one, a proper book. It's hard for me to find the books I want to read in my country, so more often than not, I have to go online and get the virtual copy. It's the same story, I like it anyway, but I'm more used to a physical book. Some may say that's very old school, but actually I don't care, nothing can compares to have that book in my hands.

I now prefer eBooks for several reasons. Firstly, I can buy them at a cheaper price online or download them for free. Secondly, it can be inconvenient to carry physical books around and eBooks help in solving this problem. I can read my eBook wherever I am. Moreover, it is more environmentally-friendly to buy eBooks.

I choose e-reader than a book. For me, it is a hassle if you bring your favorite book somewhere just to read it anytime. So I always find an e-book version of it. Because I always bring my phone anywhere. And it is so convinient for me especially the e-reader. Now I can bring more books as I can electronically.
