Are you a fan of Sushi?

Up until last year I had never tried Sushi, it was always something that never really appealed to me if I am honest and was something I couldn't see myself trying. It was when my boyfriend mentioned how much he loved Sushi and then my Mum said how good it was that I was curious and decided to grab some. After trying I was shocked at how amazing Sushi actually was.

A store down the road from me sells little packets of ready made sushi so whenever I fancy some I can just grab some, it's not too often but knowing it's there and I can do it, is great!

Are you a fan of Sushi? If so, what kind?

A Healthy Choice
The combination of raw fish and vegetable is a healthy combination. Sushi is wrapped with “Nori” which is made out of seaweed.
Nori contains high amounts of iodine, and the ingredients such as ginger and wasabi contain various antioxidant compounds, plus important vitamins and minerals. The seafood itself which is the main part of Sushi, is rich of omega-3 and selenium. Depending on the fish the amount of different vitamins and minerals will vary.Sushi is enjoyed by health conscious people and people who want to stay slim or loose some weight. If you can afford it, this is the diet to choose.

Agreed! This is the best kind of food that I'll never get tired to eat. I'm from Philippines and I think this is my #1 food to eat. It's very healthy also. I love to watch on how to prepare this and how they can create a different kinds of sushi ????.

I think the only thing that one has to watch out for when eating sushi is the amount of rice you're consuming. Rice is very rich in carbohydrates so it can be easy to go overboard on it. Some people think they can eat ridiculous amounts of sushi because it's healthy (which I definitely believe it is) but go overboard on the calories due to all the rice. Not to mention that certain sushi dishes involve foods that are fried with tempura and have heavy, mayonnaise based sauces.

I'm just nitpicking though, as I'd say that about 90% of sushi dishes are definitely healthy.

I enjoy sushi, but it's so expensive around where I live. A good chirashi-don costs around 25 USD. If you add tip and what-not, that's around 30 dollars a meal per person...

I don't really understand why it's so expensive, as it's only like maybe 10-15 small pieces of fish over a bed of rice. I do enjoy eating sushi rolls occasionally. My friend and I used to visit a restaurant on Thursday evenings because they had a buy 1 roll and get another for free deal, which meant each of our bills only totaled around 10-12 bucks per person. It also filled us up and was extremely delicious as their fish all tested very fresh.

Oh a tip about sushi, never put it into the fridge. It just tastes so nasty (at least in my opinion) once the rice hardens in the fridge.

One thing about sushi is that it is always expensive in some places where the people selling it ain't much and we won't have to put the blame on anyone since it is the way that life is as well. What I understand is you get to talk with someone who can always buy and send it to your destination when you want to buy it.

Yes! I am a number one fan of sushi and my favorite kind of sushi is everything. I want to try everything! I first eat a sushi in a restaurant buffet. I know sushi before but I didn't know the taste of eat. So, when I got the chance to taste different kinds of it, I grab the opportunity and when I tasted it, it looks promising. Sushi is delicious and it satisfy my cravings at sushi.

Hi,

I guess we’re similar in away, I never had sushi in my life until last year. I don’t know why I felt like this all my life for sushi, I had this misconception about sushi is that, everything inside in raw not cooked, now I use to think how can people eat something like this, But I was so wrong!

My girlfriend she is crazy for Ramen, like insanely in lunch or for dinner, so middle of last year we’re trying out for new restaurant to have lunch and I was not even looking at the sushi belt and certain smell, I felt like vomiting but my girlfriend insisted that I try at least once and since then everything changed. I am a fan now! I love kanikama maki, tuna mayo, salmon mayo, honestly sushi set for enough for me, I always order sushi rolls. And yes, the cooked ones.

I'm a fan of sushi and most Japanese food. I love to go to eat at outlets with conveyor belt sushi. It's best to go to Japan to eat authentic sushi despite it being kinda pricey.

Wow! I also like to experience eating sushi out of the conveyor belt. I like the freedom to choose which sushi you like to devour and eat happily.

Haha, are we all new to sushi or what? I have only started eating sushi for the first time around a year and a half ago. Sushi isn't really extremely popular here and we only have a couple of Japanese restaurants in my country. You can't even get a sushi take away or anything like that. You physically have to go there and that's the only option... well besides buying one of those small packs from the grocery shop but I am not sure what type of quality they are.

Anyway, I still remember the first time that I tried it. It was very spontaneous because we wanted to eat some new food and a Japanese restaurant opened up close to us so we gave it a try. Yum! I absolutely loved it. You think that things like raw fish wouldn't taste good, right? But it's excellent. My favorite so far is Maki rolls and Nigiri.

We have a Korean grocery not too far away from where I live, and they make sushi and sell it every day. It is really delicious, and after the first time of trying it, I decided that i really like it. I think that theirs is mostly a vegetarian sushi, because that is mostly what I have tasted in the center; but sometimes, it seems to taste like surimi as well; so maybe it has some of that in there, too. I really like surimi, which is the artificial crab meat, and i think that it is a great ingredient for sushi.

I actually do love sushi very much, even though I'm not a fan of raw fish. I've eaten sushi with fish including tuna and salmon but I just couldn't get with the craze. It had nearly no flavor to me and I was left with an overall unsatisfactory experience. That being said there is a large variety of vegetable rolls out there that really do appeal to me, and I experiment a lot with my own sushi making at home. Cucumber rolls are some of the simplest yet most tasty rolls, in my opinion. Then I like to start combining them with different ingredients like carrots, avocado, and vegan-friendly imitation crab. The possibilities are limitless with sushi, and you just have to get creative with it.

Yes and yes and yes! I really enjoy eating Sushi. My favorite one used to be the tempura sushi roll, or deep fried, but those are not really healthy. So, I started to taste them all. I like the dynamite sushi roll, and the Alaska sushi roll. Also, I use to eat some called Gyosas, which is like a rice sheet roll, with fresh veggies inside. Add some wakame and low sodium soja sauce and bon apetit!

To be honest, I have never tasted sushi. But, I always wanted to taste it at least once in my life. I get to know about sushi in one of the korean dramas, which I used to watch very often. From then, I was longing to taste sushi. I hope that it will happen soon.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
If you are a newbie on Sushi, try to start by tasting tempura sushi rolls. Those are the ones that are not 100% raw, so that way you will get used to the regular taste slowly. Also, choose sushi rolls filled with ingredients you already enjoy, cucumber, cream cheese, crab, salmon, and you will have a more friendly experience. Eventually you will love it.

I love sushi! I think it's healthy and yummy, I eat it with my boyfriend at least once a week for dinner, I only recommend adding soy souce if the fish is actually raw, otherwise you'll be adding salt for nothing and it can make you bloat. That much salt is not good for the health either. The bad thing about it: it's super expensive in my country and you can't eat it in just any place, you really gotta be selective when it comes to where you buy your sushi from...

Oh YES I AM! I love sushi very much! They are healthy and very tasty! I like eating them better a little cold. I love eating any kind of sushi but I really like the sophisticated ones. I don't really memorize what they are called since there's just so much variety haha. I like going to japanese buffets and those sushi restaurants with a conveyor belt that carries sushi because they usually offer a wide variety of sushi dishes, yummy!

Yes, I like oriental food a lot. Both Chinese and Japanese are top on my list. What I don't like it, however, is that it is so expensive around here. I mean I won't pay 50 bucks to eat Sushi. I could be eating a BBQ or a very large pizza for that money plus drinks included.

I do understand why it has taken people so long to try sushi. I feel that they think of or hear the word raw and it is immediately off limits to them. As for me sushi is one of the best things you can eat and there are so many options for you. I love the California roll, shrimp, and crunchy crab roll. There are also so many ways to make it and you can even create your own at some places where they make it for you. All I can say is I love sushi and I am open and willing to try any combination of it at any given time. If you have never tried it, give it a try!

To be honest I don't really like the taste of Sushi but I eat it is just I don't know there is something about it that I don't like. But having a passion for food I would like to try different kind of foods such as sushi maybe there will some that I would like. I am not closing the door for any possibilities that maybe someday I would love sushi and I will be happy to shout it out loud hahaha. But for now I'm not really a target market for this kind of food which is somewhat raw in nature but I would say it is one of the healthiest foods out there that people should practice eating. Thanks and God Bless everyone out there.

Yes! I love. Although here in Brazil, sushis aren't made in the old fashion way. We have sushi of every thing you can imagine. Fried sushi, Strawberry sushi, sushi with cream cheese. But yea, I love the combination of sea food with rice and seaweed. Itsn't something to eat everyday, for me, but from time-to-time I find it pretty delicious.

My favorite is the last one and it is made with Yellowtail and prawn tempura, bean sprouts, carrots, avocado, cucumber, chili, and spicy mayonnaise. I also, like Tiger roll which is made with Avocado, shrimp tempura, and cucumber. I don't know you have eaten the crab salad. I always order Dinamita Roll and a crab salad. So yummy.

I love seafood but Sushi is one thing I have yet to try. I probably will one day, it's actually on my list of things to do. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. I haven't tried caviar, octopus, squid or calamari yet either. I've had oysters though, wasn't really a fan. Haven't had them raw however. Where you crack open the shell and suck out the meat. I think the ones I've had were boiled or steamed or something.

I haven't tried it and I'm not interested in eating raw fish at all. I like cooked fish, that I can tolerate and even enjoy it. Sushi somehow looks pretty to the eye, but I wouldn't pay money to eat something raw. I know tons of people like it but it is just not my thing.

Same it's not my thing, too. But I have tried it before. They say it's healthy but I have watched some surgical procedures about people who have worms on their stomach because of the sushi they ate. Raw foods do this to your body.

I have never really tried sushi, it's not that I don't wish to but because it's not among the things we consume around my or in my neighborhood or country. It's pretty much of a foreign food to me.

Although I have seen it being eaten in some movies and it looks yummy, I hope someday soon I will get to taste one. So for those that have the privilege of enjoying it now, do have a full of your belly.

I like sushi, because of its fresh tuna fish together with Japanese rice and Japanese vinegar along with the mayonnaise. The sweetness and sourness is very good. It seems you taste the sea because of the nori paper with it. Before I spent money just to eat sushi from Japanese restaurant until one time I watched from certain YouTube channel how to make an authentic Japanese sushi. I tried to do some, though not as artistically beautiful the way it look from original Japanese sushi but with the same taste.

Tried it a couple of times. I think at least two times last year. Its when we got our first Japanese visitors as client who had a business meeting with the boss of our company. Yes they ordered I think it was a basket of sushi and that's when I first tasted sushi. Feels like just molded rice though with a topping on top, not so great dish and I don't what so special about it. Maybe I will know if I get to eat to an original sushi restaurant on that country but so far on my opinion its not that great. But I do want to try other original Japanese foods though like ramen, tempura, okonomiyaki and lots of other recipes originated from that country.

I haven't tried eating sushi but I am always curious about how it taste. My sister have a japanese friend who make sushi in our house years ago. I was too young that time, was not about to try it because I find it weird. Now, if ever I will have the chance, I would surely give it a try.

I also crave sushi but I am not sure if the sushi in a convinience store is fresh. Because I heard that if the fish is not anymore fresh, it can't be eaten. You don't taste the true taste and healthy sushi if it is not fresh. Where can I find an authentic sushi house that you know of? Thanks listers.

I know sushi food is very popular. This is one of the favorite food originated in japan i think. I was so curious about its taste. Its prize is expensive compared to others and that made me more curious of how it taste like. One time my aunt bought one for me and wow the prize really deserves the taste of sushi. You can say that you just ate one of the most delicious food in earth. Up until now i used to eat sushi but with awareness to its bad effects in my health. I eat it moderately.

I like sushi with the raw and fresh seafood in it or the one with fruits.I like the colorful blend as well. I really am a fan that I tried making one. It makes me feel the hardwork put in just a little piece of rice and fresh salmon.

When it comes to sushi, I'm not a big fan. But I enjoy eating them sometimes whenever we eat out on buffets. I always enjoy eating them with soy sauce (not a big fan of wasabi too). I also like different variants of sashimi, preferrably tuna because tuna is one of the abundant products in this city that we live here in the Philippines. Even though I'm not a big fan of these, it's still nice to try other dishes so we can try and experience different cuisines from around the world.
