I don't know if this is still popular up until now but a couple of years ago, my friend did this and he said it's a good sideline to earn some extra cash. He buys domain and what does is he talks to our other friends or relatives if they need a website for their restaurants or fast food chains or any business and of course with a little sales talk, they would agree. He did well optimize those websites depending on what his buyer theme is or what business they are in to. So he will have some profit doing that.

I have never bothered with this because I just don't know what domains I should try to buy. I know that there are a lot of people that are able to make a huge profit from doing this but personally it is just not for me. I would much rather build a website from scratch, develop it well and then sell it for profit. Buying and selling domains can be risky because something that is trending and catchy now might not be like that in a few days time. It's just a huge risk but I guess that is the same for any investment.

My experience tells me if you buy cheap domains it will be difficult to sell them. I have lots of xyz, club, online, website domains which I bought for 88 cents, I have about 50 domains, however, I have been unable to sell any of them. Since people can still get these domains for 88 cents, why would they pay more for them. You may not also be able to sell higher priced domains. For example, io cost $35, you will be adding few dollars more if you are selling it. The price increment will turn off many buyers, If you want to sell your domains, hold it for few years to increase theri value.

I agree with vinaya, I saw a lot of websites lower their prices on domain registrations. It's hard to predict which domain name would sell, Since there are a lot of competitors nowadays. I wouldn't recommend this kind of business at all.

Selling domains was something I did after the google content farm update rolls out. And most of my domains and the hard-work washed away. So you can see that these days I don't have many domains. And also these days the price for the used domain is not much as well. You can notice that people there are selling and buying the domains. So it all depends on what you can get out the most in such circumstances. I personally think that domains have their own set of window of sales. After that many domains don't work much either. I guess each to their own for this type of the business.

It is very hard to find buyers for domains. I have tried this method of making money a few years ago and I must say that I have lost my investment, I could not find buyers for my domains, I didn't sell them for a high price but buyers have some criteria they follow when buying a domain and they usually are very pretentious.

I know of some friends in the online business that are into the act of buying selling domains. I know they have been making it through the work, but it is not a work that interests me that much. Maybe you need to do some research to understand how the working of buying and reselling domains work.

I've heard about domain flipping but I am not an expert and I wouldn't want to lose money. I know it might be difficult to sell the domains and you have to invest a bit of your money so I feel like it's too much of a risk. Go for it if you're good at it though.

It doesn't work unless the vacated domain is REALLY popular. It has to be desired by many or the right people or company... and desirable enough for them to pay a small fortune for it. Even when those sorts of domains become available, they are snatched up quick. You'd have to get lucky to find one and then outbid competing buyers.

base my own knowledge you cannot really make big money unless your domain is famous but still you can make some extra cash selling it but it's kinda hard to sell specially right now in our present generation the competition of website making and other offers are high. and also right now i am planning to try this kind of sideline maybe it works for me.

You can make a small chunk of change if you sell multiple domains. At about $20 per. But again, it all depends on how much you paid for them once you decide to flip them. Also you could look into buying domains for key or popular search terms. Made famous by accident. For example, if a term, slogan, phrase or catch-phrase gets popular in the pop-culture sphere? Buying that domain name would be a good investment. Political ones work also. If you have a hunch someone is running for president in the future or have seen someone say they might consider running for president in the future, buying that domain would be a smart move. Their team might approach you to buy it back for a pretty penny, if their political aspirations come to fruition in the future.

Are there any simple and easy to use sites for selling my domain out there? I have tried flippa but it seemed way too complicated

A reseller actually buys domains and sells them on domain selling platforms. Anyone can be a reseller and make money selling domains. Domain buying and selling is a kind of business I have long ago heard about and was told to be highly profitable for a mom.

This comment may not be substantial for the topic because I am still wondering why the domain flipping is alive. The domain is just a name so the most I can think of regarding the probability of a domain is to buy one that represents a popular person, place or event. For example you bought a domain named NBA dot org. That will fetch a good price because it has a relation to the professional basketball league. But if the domain name is simply "nothingspecial dot com" then who will buy that?
