Do weight loss programmes work?

With weight loss becoming a multi billion dollar the last 50 years there shave been thousands if not millions of fads and cures claiming to hold the key to our problems, only to end up being scams. Or where they?
Since the industrial revolution obesity has seen itself become a pandemic the world over. This created an air of low self esteem and self image that created a niche market for big pharma and scammers to make a quick buck.
From diet pills, to vegetable juices, to surgeries, to workout plans,to diet restrictions the lists are endless. But the world is still obese.
This conundrum requires us to dig deep and find solutions to a number of questions: Are all these fads fake? What about all the sucxess stories? Is obesity really genetic? Should we just accept our weight? Do we just not have thezeal and the drive to loose weight?

I think that a weight loss program can work very well. The first thing that the person has to do is realize that this is a completely lifestyle change, so that they will eat differently for the rest of their lives, and not just go on some kind of a diet for a few weeks, lose the weight, and then go right back to eating whatever made them overweight in the first place. Once you have accepted that fact, then it is important to choose a diet that fits your lifestyle and that has at least some foods that you want to eat. If you are a vegetarian or a vegan, then you need to choose a diet plan that also includes food plans for vegetarians and vegans. It is fine to jumpstart your diet with a very modified diet; but for the long term, you need to eat healthy foods and in a variety of choices.

It honestly depends on the actual weight loss program and the person that will be doing it. I believe that many are good but then you also have many bad and fake ones that promise the impossible. You have to be able to eliminate those. I have seen many ads on the television with the so called ''success'' stories but I am rather wary of them. The company could easily just hire an actor and tell them what to say. Like ''Oh, yes I've lost so much weight! It's incredible''. To find a weight loss program that truly works requires a lot of research and checking - I suggest the internet and different forums that focus on these things.

And of course, like Happyflowerlady pointed out. Just doing a program or a diet and expecting a miracle isn't realistic. You need to be fully prepared to completely change your lifestyle and the way you eat/exercise. Otherwise, the results are only temporary.

Indeed. If a weight loss program isn't fit for you but you are still insisting on doing it, might become harmful for you and your body. There should be a specific one that makes you comfortable doing specially in the long run. People sometimes get too excited on doing things for the first time but at the end of they day, somehow they would eventually regret.

It does work! I once work in a gym and I observe a lot of our members enroll in weight loss program. Some had achieved the target weight, however, there are some who did not. Weight loss program works if only you yourself implement discipline towards yourself. There's no doubt that in no time you would achieve your desired target weight. I've long work in a gym, and weight loss program only works to those people who are really determined and serious about the program.

I think it works, but it depends on the person's self control towards food and diet. Weight loss program will work according to the user if it is coupled with diet. The program helps us to improve self control and disiplne. Plus a person should first consult experts abiut what weight loss program is applicable for them.

I agree with you. A lot of these weight loss programmes make their money from people that just do not have the self-control or discipline to lose weight from the programmes and tips that they offer. Because of that these people just keep returning to these weight loss programmes and that increases the revenue and profit for these companies.

It's an absolutely massive market but I think whether or not the programme works all depends on the person. If you work hard, follow the instructions and programme then you can easily lose weight quickly. The problem is that a lot of people join these programmes, follow it properly for a few days and then give up. They then proceed to complain that the programme hasn't worked. If you work hard then anything is possible. If you can exercise regularly and control your diet you will do well.

Yes, it will work, if only you pay enough attention to follow carefully the instructions. People complain most of them don't work at all, but many people tend to eat, after doing exercise, the effects will won't effect. Diet also gives a big factor of diet program. Also, it is the best to have your own instructor, so the instructor gives you proper advice, only fit to your current status needed in your bodies.
It doesn't give you any guarantee, unless you keep in mind that, discipline in yourself, gives more results in the end.

Yes, they work but it only depends on you. You need to be constant and don't give up if you don't see results in the first week. I know it might be difficult for some people but it is worth it. You could make a lot of exercises but if you do not eat well you will never lose weight. 40% exercise and 60% food you need to have self-control and eat healthily if you want good results. Remember if you don't believe in yourself, who will?

I think weight loss program will work if one is really doing the right way. All programs will fail if the person trying to lose weight is not taking it seriously. I'm guilty with this one. I always think po losing weight but it is really hard to follow the ways on dieting. I know it runs in my genes on gaining weight easily. I don't really eat much even compared to those skinny people who can eat normally without thinking of gaining weight. I tried different kind of weight loss program but i must admit that i wasn't able to do it continiously. I'm getting a hard time on depriving myself of tasty foods. And it's also hard for me to have a daily routine of exercise. I know i can do it if i just take it seriously. I'm not that fat yet but i know i have to do it sooner or later.

I think they work, but you actually need to follow the diet/ routine for them to work -shocking, I know!- people think they are going to slim down just by swallowing pills and that's not the case at all, you need to start eating healthy, doing exercise and changing your mind to make it work...

CancerNinja
Yes! they do. Only if you have the right motivation to do what you want to do, then it will happen. It is a hard task to go on diet and exercise everyday for the next few months. Furthermore, individual who are working doesn't have the time to workout. Most of the time people give up easily just before they make a difference. Well we can't argue with that fact. However, If you are dedicated in burning your body fats then weight loss programs will work just fine.

I have joined few but none of them worked out for me. I guess I was not strong for those it seems. But some did worked out from what I have seen though. In some cases those were purely in terms of getting calories down. So that did worked on me. I think all of us have to work with lot of those in order for them to work. Most of the time the calorie intake if controlled then surely it can help out with the weight loss too. On that basis I'd say it's not much worth it.

Yes it definitely works, For me I do Juicing, I have a high blood pressure, doctors advised me to cut down food that has cholesterol because it is the main source of my high blood. I have watched a documentary about Juicing vegetable. The person made the documentary has his immune system malfunctioned so he experimented and tried juicing for 30 days just juice and smoothies. I tried it my self and suddenly i rarely have a high blood plus a combine it with exercise and now i loss weight and my mood became much more better than before.

most weight loss programs are fake, people are taking advantage of obsessed people in society and the people involved are not learning at all.

They get deceived all the time and they still falls for it.some are outright scam like some tea that is advertised for weight loss that are very fake.

Depends on the program if its a lose weight real quick program is probably fake ,but if its instructions are proper food diet accompanied with regular excercise ,sleep and a lengthy/ reasonable time period to see results then its probably legit and good.

Based from my experience of being really skinny to gaining weight and some muscle to ruining my diet and being fat I can say that there is no shortcut to weight lost or weight gain. the results will also depend from a person's genetic build that could vary from person to person

Yes, you just have to choose the most appropriate program for your body. The programs were designed for different purposes and address different health problems which is why there is a need to choose carefully or else it might not work. It is also good to consult the experts about the information you need for your diet because health programs is not only about physical exercises.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

True nobody mentioned this part. Most of those programs are specific to body types. Like say person with diabetes and so. This may not always works out for many people. And things can be a bit different as well. You just have to understand that weight loss has it's set of the limits too. Nothing can be achieved overnight. Nice that you mentioned expert part and the specific program on this way as well.

A lot of weight loss programs work out. It is just that they can't give you what you don't have, determination and perseverance. It depends on the person. You have to accept the fact that you need a change and then put your everything to make it work. Change has to be present. You can't go on your normal unhealthy living and expect things to work out.

Probably it will work, but it really depends on the person if he/she is willing to. Weight loss programs actually work but remember you also need to eat healthy in order to loss your weight. Most people just go to programs without knowing how it actually works but other programs will literally tell you straight ahead of what other things you should do in other to complete the process of losing weight.

I think programs work a lot better than those pills, supplements and drinks. A program can be tweaked or designed to fit your schedule or work load. Totally arranged per your specifications. Unlike a pill, drink or supplement which once it's in your system. Can start having your body doing all kinds of things. Sometimes harmful and scary. Even if you're assigned a program that might not work for you 'as is.' You can always adjust it and take out and use what you want. Then add in some more stuff that works for you. Tailor make it.

Yes. It is really works if you partnered it with motivation. Most people nowadays go to gym and enrolling weight loss programmes. It is more effective that supplements and drinks.

Our bodies, while we all have the same organs, perform uniquely for each person. There are tons of diet programs out there, but i think if you follow them religiously, they can be effective. But the question here is, can you maintain it? This ideal weight maintenance is the indicator if a diet program is effective or not. Products that contain l-carnitine can really help one shed some fats off because in reality, it really does boost the metabolism of most mammals including us. But how you take it with other food will choose the faith of this fact. So you see when your pocket is wiling but your body and mind are not, then every diet program available in the market is true.

Most people can eat anything they want so long as it's in moderation and they concoct a regular workout routine. If you overeat and then spend most of the day sitting down, that's a recipe for disaster.

Being graduated in PE I find that thos programs hardly work at all. They might HELP you lose weight at most but all of them come with nutritional guidelines and those are really all that you need. In that sense most programs or weight loss machines are useless

Maybe it will be more effective if we also have discipline in our selves and our commitment is there to achieve the goal/s that we have set aside from choosing the right program that fits for us (program that do not sacrifice or compromise our health as a whole). It requires patience and hard work to get the result that we want.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes that seems to be the part which many of us can't understand. And then things become lot harder as time goes on. We keep on gaining the weight. And things go on and on as well. People have worked on some of those programs and leads to more of a random output. You can see that weight loss requires routine and some level of commitment. That's something you can't achieve from what I have learned.

Yeah, I am of the opinion that such programs work but the person involved should show lots of zeal and determination to achieve that aim. It does not go without having the right mindset to achieve weight loss. I have seen some guys lose weight in my locality by signing up for such programs. So, it is possible.

I have never attended any weight loss programs, therefore, I don't know whether weight loss program works or not. However, I have tied weight loss medicines. I have not tried too many weight loss medicines, however, the ones I used did not work. In the beginning, it appeared that the medicine worked. I was able to cut two kg in two weeks. However, after two weeks, I did not lose any weight.
The best weight loss technique is eating low-calorie diet and doing regular exercise. When you eat, do not eat in a large quantity, instead, take small quantities of food at regular intervals

Weight loss programmes work out rigorously especially when there is excessive weight in the body. Weight loss activities are usually carried out everywhere in the world to control or prevent diseases caused by excessive weights. There used to be people that suffer this worldwide and try engaging themselves in all sorts of weight loss activities.

I noticed they all seem to work at the beginning, but after a couple of weeks, people tend to leave them and get fat again. I think this is due to the fact those programs get monotony, boring, repetitive, and people can't stand to that. Also, many of them require unrealistic conditions, like stop having breakfast and dinner and have just a shake, like, who's going to eat a shake day and night forever??? Besides that, some others are bad for your health, they make you eat or drink, food or pills that can cause thyroid issues, or cardiovascular diseases, or kidney failure. So, stop being naive and cheating on yourself, if you want to look good, eat healthy and clean, and do some exercise, stop smoking and drinking like crazy, and go to a doctor to get a proper check out.

Weight loss programs work perfectly and can help anyone become physically fit in no time. People engage themselves in different kinds of weight loss exercises or programs and use this to get rid of obesity, excessive weight or excessive fats. The problem with most people suffering from these is that some people like eating foods that contain too much cholesterols which result in excessive fats in the body.

Weight loss programs do work, the question is can you keep up with the program.

Daily we could see a dozen infomercials about weight loss programs, and most of it has a strict diet and exercise schedule. If you follow it then results would be favorable.

The problem of these kinds of programs is its very hard to keep up with it, I tried one of this programs and I just can't follow the food intake indicated.

For me it's better to go to the gym and exercise.

Yes, I believe it does work. Weight loss programs are built to help people that want to trim down fats. But of course, it's not an overnight magic that will give results right away. I think it's not about what kind of program to follow, it's about determination and consistency to do the action.

Yes they do. I've been on low carb for the longest time,I do both slow carb by Tim Ferris and Keto. These both work for me. In fact I would argue that they are very effective. The secret to weight loss is in controlling your food intake. Exercise is important, but food is the most important. Lets put the percentages as 80% food and 20% exercise. They are so many programs out there, you need to find something that works for you.

Hey, I know it's an old thread but I think you did great by searching a more experienced workout buddy as it could've been hard for you alone.. my brother started this road by himself and got traumatized
while working out as he was doing the exercise wrong. He then was on
steroids and when he needed to pass a test on doping at a competition
he, thankfully, found this fake urine from https://www.ceasar-boston.org/best-sarms-stack/ that really helped him out at that time. So, nothing of this would've
happened if he had been more careful from the beginning Do weight loss programmes work?

Many people don't have the willpower and desire to lose weight. That's the main reason, and you don't need to look for another. Of course, there is a certain genetic predisposition to be overweight, but if a person decides to be in shape, nothing can stop him. My parents were overweight all their lives due to malnutrition and lack of physical activity, but I never wanted to be like them. This has been my personal motivation to lead a healthy lifestyle. By the way, recently, my old scale broke, and I bought a new multifunctional scale https://www.vont.com/product/smart...le-weight-scale/, so now I can record several indicators of my body at once.
