Your freelancing experience !

I think nowadays online freelancing is a great alternative of part time job. Mainly most of the students like freelancing. Because they can work from their home and can work when they have time. If you will have a offline job then you will need to follow time table. We also need to follow time table for online freelancing but in this method we have option to choose our working time. However, I am working as a freelancer since 2012. When I was started online earning I was not serious about it. I was doing freelancing for just fun !! But from 2016 I have took it very seriously because I need money for my study. I remember that day when I earned nearly $100 USD through SEOClerks. SEOClerks is the marketplace where I have earned my first $100 USD . I am still earning good amount of money through SEOClerks. However, let me know your experience about your freelancing life !! Tell us about your first $100 dollars earning story...

Freelancing is one way now to earn money in the most comfortable and easy way. I myself is a freelancer and base on my experience its fun and reliable. I earn money and easy ways like data entry and virtual assisting. Because of the high demand of talent and skills, different countries now hired a freelancer who can do multitasking making their business efficient and effective. As a freelancer, I enjoy bonding with my family while working unlike before that I spend most of the day at the office. I can also wear anything I want and work comfortable unlike wearing semi formal or sometimes formal dress just to please your boss.I can say that Freelancing is a great way of earning money for a living it just needs patience and determination.

I am a senior and what I do online is more as pass time. It is great to interact with a global audience and share information which they will benefit from.
I have written many articles and blogs on various subjects and going by the interaction I receive I know I would have contributed in a positive way. No doubt I earn too.

Freelancing has such a broad spectrum of opportunity and potential. I myself do freelance graphic design work, freelance massage therapy, and freelance writing. The first $100 I made doing freelance work was local. I had advertised my skills and it just so happened that a local man saw my online ad and needed help designing a logo for his new Custom Woodworking business, he ended up paying me over $300 because of the hours we put in. We did the entire project together and are still dear friends, he does some amazing woodworking and I use some of his products every day. Since then he has hired me multiple times to design his website, write articles to be printed in the newspaper, and he has even hired me as a masseuse once or twice. Online freelancing has provided my family that extra money to travel or have recreational time together. It is a wonderful way to connect with people personally, and also have the flexibility as an IBO!

I first started freelancing as a student. I freelanced as a photographer and took pictures for university departments. I earned around $500.00 for my first gig. After that, I tried to dabble in some freelance writing. I did some articles for $10.00 per article. These articles were mainly to promote products for a health company. Doing these freelance work helped me to get extra money in order to pay for living costs in university. I got hooked to freelancing since then but have gradually reduced on the amount of work now as I have a new full-time job. I have gotten to know more people from my freelance jobs. It also helps me to improve on my quality of work as I do receive useful feedback from my clients.

Freelancing helped me for a period, but as of right now I'm really not finding anything. I used to be a freelance translator from italian to english or vice versa, I can translate anything. I've been studying this language since I was born but clients just started to disappear over time, or they didn't care about my proposals. I also had very low prices Your freelancing experience !

Yes freelancing is constant work. And in order for regular paycheck you have to find the work on daily basis. I guess that seems to be the only way for the earning money. But the reason why people don't quit job is because freelancing earning is random.

I remember when I was doing offline freelancing from friends I would earn up to 200$ weekly because of the number of jobs pending and I was glad that I could do them all. Most of my jobs were different from each other - from computer related stuffs such as software and hardware, to doing logo layouts or tarpaulin layouts and doing photography! But after that we had to move in so I am not able to get an offline gig now because my current place is not my childhood place anymore. :/

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

fishmonk
That is a pretty good sum of money. When you meant that your current place is not your childhood place, do you mean that you have moved overseas? How do you do tarpaulin layouts?

I've been doing offline freelance work for about 3 years now. All of my business is in wedding videography, and it's been a really good business so far! I can't remember my "first $100" per se, but I remember knowing what it was like to finally have money coming in through my freelance work. It was a fantastic feeling! I started my services off at $400 for video work, but have worked my way up to $850 per gig. I typically try and limit myself to two wedding a month just keep from overworking myself, but the month of June saw me bringing in one wedding every week, so 4 weddings that month. I'll typically earn around $1,600 a month from wedding video by itself, which is a pretty slick deal, especially being that I work for myself and all of the editing can be done from the comfort of my own house.

I picked up online freelance back in high school just to earn a little spending money on the side and because writing piqued my interest. I've been doing it off and on since then for the better part of 5 years now, but I don't make very much doing it. I really do it try and keep my writing skills up to par with others and just earn a little more money on the side.

That is pretty interesting. How long does it take you to cover a wedding? This shows that you should have some pretty sick editing skills. Nowadays, people love to have wedding videos coverage for their wedding events.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
I usually shoot for 8 hours on the wedding day unless the couple books me for longer than that. I also probably put in a good 6 or 7 hours editing and making DVD's of the final product, so all together I might spend anywhere from 15 to 20 hours total on a wedding, depending on how much goes into it.

Yes, wedding video is a growing business, and in my city there are only four or five of us who offer the service professionally, so I find it pretty easy to book weddings when I want to. I don't know that you'd call my editing skills "sick", but they get the job done for weddings. I try not to distract from the visuals with my edits.

If anyone's interested, you can see a mashup of the major weddings I did this past year in this video.

My friend is doing such projects too. Do you employ the use of drones in videography? There is a trend for people around here to request for aerial shots. How have you found your customers to be like in terms of requirements?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
I do not employ use of drones in my videography. I haven't taken the step to purchase one and get it licensed yet, but it's on my list of things to do, for sure! I haven't had any problems with my clients. They're generally very understanding of my terms, and because video isn't something people are really in tune with, they're generally happy with whatever I create.

For instance, most couples know exactly what photos they they want, they know exactly what songs they'd like their DJ to stick to, and they know exactly what food they want for their reception. They don't have these strict guidelines for video most of the time, I've found. In general, my clients see my past work and tell me, "we like what you did for X couple, just do that for us". It's really nice, actually.

I see. It is really great to know the details of such work. I guess having a portfolio does allow the client to put their trust in you. Having creative freedom is an amazing feeling.

I am a housewife with 2 kids. I first earned $10 for posting review of a company product. I had never earned $100 that much, accumulated amount from different sites that ends up less than that. I don't mind since it is a side income for me. I wish I could write for a company or someone who needed drawing. I can draw cartoons well. I tried Fiverr but no luck.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

galegatling
Fiverr seems to be overcrowded now and when you are just a beginner with little to no experience, or even if you do, you'd still have hard time getting clients because they would be always looking to the ones who has high reviews and good feedbacks - specially good track records. So yeah, I try to stay away from freelancing sites.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
I found the exact same thing to be true when I was on Fiverr as well. I posted several video and audio related gigs there, but couldn't generate any leads because of the people who were already making a killing on the platform. They had the reviews and the portfolio to really sell themselves and I didn't.

I found that the real money, at least for my skill set, is in offline freelancing, not online freelancing. Meeting clients in my city and providing my services that way has been a huge lifesaver when it comes to a second income for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Seems like there are people like us who don't really get any luck when it comes to online freelancing and are better off doing the offline ones. I can really relate to this because I myself did not get any clients ever since I did this online freelancing thing. Lol

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

peachpurple
yes, I tried on Fiverr too, I could draw cartoons but nobody wants my skill because there are tons of others who are far talented than me. So, I focus on forum sites, writing sites and my own blog. I earn better on forum sites though, short comments and insightful.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

thanks for your information. I guess that Fiverr isn't meant for me to hang on . So, I go for forum post sites to earn money which is far easier and faster to redeem.

I started freelancing as a hobby. I wasn't very serious about it but I knew that I wanted to make a few extra bucks. So, I started doing some tasks and PTC websites. After a while though, when I saw how much you can potentially make over the internet, I began investing more and more of my time. I went to full freelancing. No more PTC websites. That's when the first $100 came in. The start was rough because it took a while to get a ''steady'' income - I had to build up my reputation and establish some trust from the clients but once you do that, you're good to go. I am a part of different freelancing platforms where I offer my services and I'm also in the process of investing into affiliate marketing Your freelancing experience !

I remember PTCs and I dabbled in those too. I actually miss it now because even though it was tedious and mindless, it was still kind of fun to learn about new sites and also strategizing for better profits. I wish those types of sites were still around nowadays. Although, the downside was that a lot of them turned out to be scams too so in a way things are also better now as everything is much more legitimate at least.

My experience as a freelancer was not easy at all, because i started without a skill, thinking i will crook my way in, but i earned nothing during my first few months, till i went on to acquire a skill, then i started biding, the competition was intense because my niche was already saturate. Then i went on to acquire a digital skill and with some good marketing and advertising strategies the bucks started coming and i spread my seeds on many rivers, now the rest is history

Freelancing is so easy and great because you can just do work whenever and wherever you want. The only problem I find is that sometimes the pay is not as good because of how competitive the market is. There are so many people out there that are willing to work that the price for the work tends to go down because there will always be someone who is prepared to do the same job for a lot cheaper. I don't do any proper freelancing work as yet but I do, do some paid posting everyday which earns me a decent amount but nothing close to a proper revenue of course.

I'm honestly still learning and finding my way through earning by freelance, and hopefully soon I can find a stable income working from home. As for now I just have a few projects here and there where I got paid a small amount to complete certain graphic design works, and I'm hoping I can establish enough of an online presence or portfolio so I can charge a bit more and maybe make it a full time job. What I find most daunting is when I look at how much competition there is online and I start thinking about how much I'd have to work to establish myself, but I will just keep pressing on until I get there.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is one of the main reason why I am struggling to get clients on some freelancing marketplace - a good portfolio. Some of them doesn't recognize the newbies anymore. Some clients would always filter the sellers by track records, hours of work, reviews and history. I don't know where to start since there are also a lot of newbies trying to get some experience and work hours on freelancing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It took me a long while before I managed to find a decent stream of revenue from freelancing and working online. So don't be disheartened that you still haven't found a stable income yet. It takes time but when you find it, it is great and amazing. I think a lot of people are scared of the competition. I definitely am. There are so many people willing to work online right now that the amount of pay is decreasing rapidly because of a number of people willing to work for cheap.

I've been working as a freelancer for over a year now and so far it has been a good experience for me. It's my only source of income and thanks to this I am now financially independent which was my main goal. As everything, it has its ups and downs, there are days when I can't do much because my internet connection decided to fail me but that has been pretty much the only major issue I have had so far.

I think the problem with freelancing is consistency. I am doing freelancing for about 10 years now. And I am struggling with money earning. Everyday I have to find projects after the day job. And I have to find projects with better skills and pay. It's not easy to find such type of projects anymore. You can see that freelancing is a good experience if you can get a regular work. In such case you may have to land on better clients. It's hard but it's definitely doable as well. I personally think that freelancing is only about doing hard-work and building on it.

It has not been an easy ride.I think alot of people gives a too good view about freelancing.Making newbie believe money can be made without much work.I think this is a wrong assertion. You spend more time when freelancing and you need to work hard to impress a client. But I enjoy the self -independence.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes same for me. It is definitely not an easy ride. In fact it is lot harder. And even harder to pull off on consistent level. So on that note you can see that it would be not so bad to understand how the freelancing can affect your mind body and health. I would say that freelancing takes a lot of time in return.

My brother got a descent job of programming, he was lucky and smart. He, my brother, urge me to do the same, but still not lucky at all. That's why, now, I relief to finding any job, here in Internet world.

I started writing for newspapers when I was still in college. When my friends were depended on their parents' money to pay tuition fees and pocket money, I was already earning money by writing in the newspaper. When I completed my university, I did not pursue other career, I continued writing. While seeking avenues for writing, I joined writing sites and began publishing my articles. It has been 10 years since I have been working as a freelance writer. It feels good to become your own boss and do what I actually enjoy. However, sometimes it frustrates me because I am unable to earn to support myself as a writer.

This has been one of the easiest way to relax and still make cool money from just being online which I do all day. Before now, I simply used to be online for just fun catching until I got introduced to freelance job online.

Ever since the day I was made to understand that I could convert my catching fun online into making money, not one single day has passed without my doing one online job or another.

I started working online 8 years back and at that time I was mostly writing online. I was not really earning that much. I then started researching about other ways to earn online. I joined other writing and micro tasking sites. I could see a rise in my earnings but it was definitely less than the amount that I wanted to earn. I then quit my full time job and starting working full time online. I started selling products on eBay and continued with my writing. I also joined other freelancing sites. Today I earn a decent amount online mainly through online selling and tutoring.

Working as a freelancer online has not been that rosy for me considering the fact that I work offline as well with a firm that deals on oxygen cylinder supply which is a tough physical task to do as well. However, I try as much as I could to earn through some sites online and that has been an exciting prospect I joined just last few weeks. I have not earned up to a hundred dollars since I started but I believe that by the end of this month, I would be able to achieve that aim for I never give up on the dream of making it online as a freelancer.

As a writer, I am working toward writing a book as well that will be sold on Amazon in no distance time.

I like to earn a few dollars doing online freelancing. I don't get much time during the weekdays, but I use my weekends to do online jobs. My online freelancing includes blogging, posting on sites, doing surveys and other jobs. It gives me some extra cash.

I wanted to be a freelancer, but can't consider myself to be one as of the moment. I find freelancing before as an easy job that why I tried this road, however, as I look into it more this isn't really easy as what I presume before. I've been looking for a freelancing job for over a month but never had a luck of landing any job. I find out that I lack too many skills and am not yet that well-rounded about the in and out of freelancing. So I decided to look deeper of this job, gain more skill and apply when I feel like I'm ready.

In this aspect, I've been quite fortunate. At the moment, I'm working with two clients. Both of them want to work with me in the long run, and I have no plans to look for other assignments in the near future. I've never been irritated by either of them, and they're both wonderful individuals to work with. They value my time and flexibility since I keep my promises. As a result, it's always been a win-win scenario. Both are from the United States. The most difficult task is to maintain a consistent cash flow.
