What is your first gadget you use once you wake up?

I have observed that most people once they wake up in the morning the first item they operate it's the mobile phone. I happen to in that same category of looking if there are any notifications on the phone even before getting out of bed. Some people will switch on their tv sets, the computer or their radio. I believe it is a bad habit that is not easy to stop.

Have you fallen into the same system?

I practically sleep with my android phone device, sometimes I press it and chat, surf the Internet until I fall asleep while it's still in my hands. There has been some midnights that I wake and continue with where I stop before falling asleep. This has been my normal routine and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

So therefore, when I practically sleep with my phone in hand, then you can be surely guaranteed that it's the first thing I say good morning to once I open my fluffy eyes.

Hi Heatman6190. You have given an ingratiating response in that you have stated the very same practice that I myself indulge in, as well as millions (if not at least 1 billion) of other people all over the globe. Waking up with one's cell phone by way of the alarm clock almost makes certain that he or she will have that be used as their very first gadget of the day. Too, it is very pleasing of you to note that as gadgets, cell phones may be around for years, if not centuries to come. Very thoughtful.

It's actually how such happens, even when one knows he or she is very tired, instead of to drop the phone and nap off comfortably, he will be forcing it until sleep takes over with the phone still in hand. (LOL).

I agree with you, I also sleep with my tablet and phone for notifications and emails from online jobs. I see to it that all I do will be benificial or will make me earn money online.

Well, you are definitely lucky that yours is definitely on a business note, mine is practically for just catching fun alone.

That is great to hear and i see what kind of people you are. It is a good idea on putting or using things in a productive way. Before sleeping and waking up i do regular check on my phone to get updated on everyday activities in life. When i wake up during holidays or non business days, i use my cellphone for entertainment purposes. Cellphone is just an all in one device where in you can find everything.

It might be just a bit sad, but I must admit that I also sleep with my electronic devices. I have fallen asleep on top of them. I have knocked them off of the bed and damaged, them. I put them beside the bed on the table or on the floor. I have stepped on them, but all of this to make sure I stay connected and working. Something must be wrong with me right?

I think majority of us are guilty of even just one of the things that you have mentioned. I guess the people of the modern era have made their gadgets or smart phones a significant part of their day to day lives, whether it may have a positive or negative effect. This only means that if something is wrong with you because of all those things you've mentioned, then I guess something is wrong with the majority of the people in the word.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Haha, it's just crazy how we behave to most things that we are addicted to. I simply just call it abnormal addiction. It takes all over our normal behavior.

How funny it sounds, but I have actually had your experience, especially in knocking them off the bed and stepping on them when trying to get them from the bed and totally damaged it's screen.

Same here because now at our recent time almost every people has a mobile phone and this is the only thing that they use before go to bed and as early as they wake up in the morning not just because they are these alarm clocks but also news are part in your mobile that as early in the morning you want to read by yourself

The first thing I check after waking up is my android phone. Most of the stuffs I am scheduled to do for the day are organized in my android phone. It also became my habit to check my e-mails and notification first thing in the morning. Simply put that my android phone is my personal assistant.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

They really are. It is a big help that we can just set notes on our phone to remind us for work matters and schedules for the day. How convenient it is to put everything that needs to be checked in one gadget. It is undeniable that smartphones are usually the first thing people check after waking up in the morning.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Exactly, it's definitely smart phones. I personally find it difficult to reach my laptop immediately after waking up, the time to stay and wait for it to boot up is not pleasing at all.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Yes, this is just about what most people who sleep with their Android phone device around their bed normally do. They tend to have a glance over it immediately they wake up. Most of us are guilty of this particular act.

My alarm on my phone wakes me up and I grab the phone to put it off and the next thing is to get in and start checking for an update. So this is to say that the first thing that I grab each day is my phone and it has become a way of life because I do this practically everyday.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

JoeMilford
I forgot to mention this in my post here, but I also use my phone as my alarm, so essentially, no matter what, that IS the first device I touch every morning in order to put the phone on snooze or to just turn the alarm off altogether. Sometimes, I really have to admit, to my chagrin, how terribly dependent I am on my darn phone. It's kind of sad, really.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
I just realized that the moment one forms it as a habit of going for the phone the moment you wake up, it's definitely almost impossible to stop it. I'm a living experience to that.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

JoeMilford
I wonder if I am way too dependent on my Android. I think that I can say that I most likely am, unfortunately. Every morning when I wake up I have tons of emails, updates, and notifications, some worth my time and some that are just junk. Still, the must be dealt with, and so, part of my morning ritual is going through my phone and making sure that things are under control.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Well, I wouldn't just call it being too dependent on the Android phone but I will simply call it addiction to the poor phone which suffers for us by being our slaves (LOL).

I do have alarm set up in my phone for the hours of 1:00am, 3:00am and 5:00am. Between all these 3 different intervals I normally wake up to check for something online and as such I practically wake up by the alarm and go straight for my Phone.

I sleep with my mobile device besides me and that is the first gadget that I operate each time I wake up from sleep. I've developed that special connection with my mobile device that, in some cases, if I wake up and fail to see it beside me, I must search the whole room to see it and check the various websites for news and other things.

I sleep with mine beside me as well. I wonder if this is healthy. I guess it is just the way of the world these days! I have actually lost my phone in the bed or the couch before when I fell asleep with it, and once, I slept on it and I think that I actually burnt out the batteries of the phone and killed it with my body heat. I have to replace it--thank goodness I had insurance on the phone, lol.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Lucky for you that you have insurance on your phone. Over here, phone insurance is the last thing an average Nigerian would be less worried about. If the phone gets damaged beyond repair, we normally dump it and buy a new one.

I have Redmi 4A and one 4G Router. I am accessing the internet using those two devices. I have found out that gadgets do keep me connected with the rest of the world. I check social media and emails this way. It can be distracting to wake up with. But it does seem like a good system for those who want to connect with internet. I like my gadgets and wish to keep them for longer time. So on that point it'd be reasonable as well.

Out of the topic. I have been eyeing that Mi Phone since March. How was it? Does it have a good battery life? THere have been test comparisons about Mi phone vs. Iphone and some were voting for iphone. Is it true?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
It has a good battery life. And also the performance is good enough for me. It has a nice camera too. 13mp camera takes some really good images. Mi 4A may not be iphone beater. But you can go for the MI mIX 2 OR mi A1 for iphone comparison. Seems to be a good option if you want something better on camera side. Battery and camera wise I have found Mi phones to be lot better.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Mi Mix is a HANDS DOWN! When I saw that Iphone is releasing the new Iphone X what came to my mind was the MI MIX original phone's design. As if they're copying, though that's what they are really good at. Anyways, there isn't any store here in our country that provides Mi Mix products. It seems that they are only available overseas.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You can buy through AliExpress. But the thing with the customer support is something that may need some attention. For 1 year it can be used if you handle it properly. AliExpress seems to have both english and china version of the phones. And it seems to be working good enough. Not sure which is your country but considering Xiaomi is getting rich with their sales. I am sure they will sooner or later be in your country with after sales support.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Mi Phone is already available here in the Philippines but not all of there models like the Mi Mix are available in stores. It's better to buy in store than online, for me, since I will be able to inspect it better and have it guaranteed.

Yes Mi Store online can be one good place too. Also I am sure you have Lazada where you can get it. Or maybe any other local philipines shop where you can purchase it. I personally can tell you that it's a good device. And most affordable for that price range. And specifications are good too. So worth using as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Amazon is good for the phone purchase. But the Mi phones don't come on amazon for all the devices. Some devices are to be bought on their own with the mi. I think for this reason alone it'd be reasonable to say that these are some good gadgets worth buying through official store.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Why not go through Amazon? I find Amazon to be the best online shop for any deals.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The truth of the matter is that most phone companies copy one another and just add an upgrade to whatever they copied in order to just make it a unique work of their own.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Increased phone battery capacity and RAM size are the two things that I look out for in any phones that I'm looking to buy. And I have reasons to believe that Mi phones are good with those specifications.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I am on the same boat as you on the matter of specifications of the phone. These are the most important for me when buying then comes other specifications and I think Mi phone won me over. I don't with the price in your countries but I consider it an expensive one.

I think that Mi phones is way better when it comes to battery life and capacity.

I am 45 years old, and I am actually trying to reach back into my memory to a time when i did not depend upon my phone for so much. I spent half of my life without a cell phone, so what happened to me, lol? I guess I just had to join the 21st century like all of the rest of us. My girlfriend is texting me right now, so that's a good use of this old phone, right?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anor0428
We cannot deny the fact that they are very useful for communication, work related, and even for entertainment. But just like you, I also think about the time when people are not dependent on their phone. Well, the past is just a proof that we can still manage to live without gadgets. What makes me sad sometimes is that, people spend more time using their phone than to spend quality time with their family.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

JoeMilford
We have always lived with gadgets! A spear is a "gadget"...a wheel is a "gadget". I am afraid that we are at the point where we can't "live" or function without our electronic gadgets. It's like when people ask what did we used to do to figure something out before Google. Just think about that statement or query. That's scary--all of us use this search engine every day for pretty much our base knowledge. Humans made it thousands of years without that, so the question is are we getting too dependent on such things?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
In my opinion, we can't live without them gadgets. We practically do 80% of what we handle in a day using them. So therefore, tell me how possible it's going to be for us to stop using it?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
I strongly doubt we are going to be able to make it through life that easily without the use of one device or another. The extent of our dependence on them is chronic these days.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The obvious truth is that once you have an addiction to always press your phone, it doesn't matter how old you're, age is never going to come between you and your love for phone pressing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The truth is that phones are a lot more easier for one to use and manipulate to get it in well satisfying ones needs. As much as laptops and desktop seem good, the portability of phone gives it an edge.

I am one of the people who use their cell phone at the first hour in the morning. The first thing is to see how much is the clock, put some music and check my email on my cell phone. Then if I still have some extra time before to leave to my job I can check what is new on the Facebook and news from television!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I would say that it is my Smartphone. I check it to see if anyone tried to contact me in the night or if I have any emails that I need to attend to. Also, I have developed a really bad habit of falling asleep with the TV on, so I guess that device is going on all the time, in a way. The next device I access, like am doing right now, is my laptop. I can type much faster and with less errors on this than I can on my cell phone, of course, and I like to see how much work I have ahead of me and make a plan for the upcoming day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is the same as me to be fair. I always check my smartphone when I wake up because I want to see what is up with my friends on social media and to see what I have received in terms of emails. I also always watch my favourite TV shows just before I go to sleep on my mobile which is probably not the best since it does affect your brain a bit.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Lately, I have joined the group that also normally watch movies on their phone device. Before now, I'm not used to doing it as I refer to phone images as being too small but now, I'm practically in love with watching on it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Most times, I refer to my phone as my personal mobile office. As I tend to carry out most of online business activities using it. In the early morning say around 4:00 GMT, I'm already up checking out one or two things on the phone which would probably be of an assistance to me in the day ahead.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's probably my tablet where the first thing I need to do is check my emails because of my business then my social apps like Facebook or Instagram where I also have contacts for my business. For me It's really important to check my phone or anything that you personally use when you wake up first thing in the morning because it gives me the vibe to be active for the whole day like when I just see a message from a person It gives me some feeling that I need to get up and work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
This is absolutely what we all normally do as phone addicts. The moment you wake up, the first thing that rushes up your mind is "where is my phone"? Without thinking about any other things, the phones are most times our first priority.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

emoxigh27
Definitely yes! Smartphones are like our best friend in this era. Smartphones can wake you up anytime you want, notify you whenever there are sales in your favorite online shop, and most important of all, connect you to your loved ones! I agree that this is really hard to remove from our daily lives because it helps us to acquire and share information to almost all people!

They're truly an amazing tool, however, it has also a bad side. Overusing phones can harm our wellness. It can damage our eyes and brain, can cause overweight or underweight and can lead us to overspend! Because of this, we should be responsible enough to balance our life so we can live longer with the use of technology.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anor0428
I agree with you. It is true that smartphone are very useful to many aspects. However, they also have some bad effects not only in our health but also in our relation to our family. Sometimes, we are more focus on our smart phone that we forget to give attention to our loved ones. It's funny that sometimes, you can see a family on restaurant, supposedly eating together but end up holding all their smart phones to take pictures of the food.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
I totally agree with you on this, I just call it the bane of technological improvements in our life. I have come to understand and realize that anything that has good advantages also comes why disadvantages, and in case of addiction to it, our families pays the price for it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Not only when I wake up, but also before I sleep, I use my Android phone as the first/last gadget that I use. I think only a few people left who don't have that kind of routine.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
This is actually the reason why I sleep off with phone still in my hand. If I'm lucky, it would just drop off on my bed, but when hard luck is rooting for me, it would drop off on the cement/tile floor and probably have it's screen broken.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I also check my phone first thing in the morning. I 'll defend myself first. My alarm clock is on my phone. I always check my WhatsApp messages in case my friends or family from around the world have tried to get in touch.

I then check my calls in case, I have missed any important calls. Lastly, I check my emails in case I have messages from clients or any new assignments. If I have urgent emails I answer them.

I don't see this as a bad habit. It is necessary. I get up about half an hour earlier so that I can check all this and have it not affect my schedule, all the rest of my day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Our phones are most likely our daily routine planner, as most of the things that we have to do in the day first kicks off its planning on the phone the moment we wake up. This is the actual reason I strongly believe that we can't do without phones in our recent generation.

I'm also one of the people who checks my phone before i sleep and after waking up, i use my phone's alarm so it's the first thing i touch when i wake up. Then i check if there's any notification. My email and work documents can be accessed through my phones so it's normal to check my phone regularly.

My smartphone is the first gadget I use when I wake up in the morning. I set my morning alarm on my smartphone everyday, so I have to turn off the alarm the first thing in the morning. Then I check my messages and notifications. I check the weather and the latest news. I sometimes check my email on my smartphone before starting up my computer.

After an hour or so, I turn on the TV to watch the latest news related to country, world, sports and business.

The alarms do a perfect good job in making one not to miss out on checking out the phone the moment the alarms wakes you up. First, you would be forced to stop the alarm from continuous barling and next, it's checking ones social media accounts and notifications.

I use my smartphone because the alarm in it wakes me up. So I pick my phone and turn off the alarm and while I'm on it I check if I have any messages and notifications. If I have some time I may check my email or facebook but sometimes I have to hurry so I don't do it.

So therefore, it's definitely going to be the phones first the moment alarms wakes one up.

Can the alarm clock be considered a gadget? Haha!

It's always the first thing I look at when I pick up my smartphone because I'm terrible for getting up early.. I open my eyes and I'll see if I'm not late (because I put my alarm clock to play at various times What is your first gadget you use once you wake up?).

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

If you wake up and pick up your phone, it's the first thing that you have contact with whether you first looked at your clock first. And to the question you asked about clock being a gadget, yes it's a gadget.

I use first my laptop to check if there's new like, shares, or comments to the post I've create in social media and forums. Then I will read some new posts in forums and my social media accounts and post some comments. After that I will create my on content that came into my mind that I think is relevant to my followers and readers.

I could say that the laptop would be my second option, but it's not because I already do it all for my smartphone (after I turn off the alarm after I wake up, haha).

It's an almost automatic process, haha!

True. I don't have the need to check on my laptop since everything that I need to check is already on my phone. I will just switch to my laptop if I need to do documents on Ms on ms word or picture editing on Adobe.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The way things are going, is the laptop one step closer to becoming obsolete?

I know this is not going to happen anytime soon (if that's ever going to happen), but I think the laptop is just becoming another object in the midst of so many innovations.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well I think if all the stuff that I do on my laptop like web develop development, graphics design and video editing would become more easier and faster using smartphone, then I would probably replace my laptop with smartphone. :-)

I completely have the same thinking with you on this note, laptops are being replaced by tablets. From the looks of things, in no distant time, laptops wouldn't have that much value.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, you don't really have to switch to your laptop for the sake of MS Word usage, most Android phones now comes with a comfortable word application that allows you to carry out all your office work task on your phone as well.

To my reply for @Rock1987, alarms are what first drags us to phone usage first early in the morning. With the bid to stop the alarm from still making noise, it's practically impossible to resist going to one of the social media sites to check out a few things before doing any other things.

According to what I've been reading from other members' comments, the smartphones have been the big winner around here. Everyone is somehow addicted to them (and no... this is not good for us, haha).

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SirenOnFire
I agree that smart phone really is the winner on this. I'm not very sure that the reason is because all who does is addicted to it though. As for me, I open it after my morning prayer to check on my finances and other stuff, not because I'm addicted to it. Phones have become an all in one thing nowadays that it actually makes sense to open these first thing you wake up.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

wiseagent
The fact that the smartphone has become an all in one thing certainly helps to make addiction something more common and easy to happen (especially if you have some function that has some kind of "dependency" on it). But even in this scenario I think there is a lack of control on the part of the vast majority of addicts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SirenOnFire
Well, I see where you are coming here. May young children have become addicted to their gadgets because of the lack of proper supervision from their parents.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

wiseagent
In this scenario, I think it's all parents' fault because the control of what can and can't be used is bound to be theirs.

Children are human beings in formation and as such need to be directed.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
I think that I would have to disagree on this. Parents can have control over what their kids do for a limited space of time and once that is over, it's entirely up to the child to caution himself.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
There is no way a parent is actually going to be successful in controlling their children usage of gadgets. They cannot be at all places with them at all times, this generally makes it impossible for the parents of these kids to be effective in controlling their kids addiction to phones.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
To be addicted to anything simply means that you lack control over the direct influence of such things on your lives. This is practically how phones especially and other electronic gadgets have a hand over us all.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
The reason is partly as a result of addiction but it's not all, the portability that comes with Android smart phones usage is one of the major reasons why it's taking the lead on people's first choice of gadget when up in the morning.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jemuelterrado
Yes i expected already that this would be the most used because it is a very light weight material and accessible all the time. No wonder why users of cellphones is getting a higher in counts than other devices. For some reasons cellphones has good effect for those who has business connected with it and for those who are using for research and unfortunately it is bad for people who are only enjoying it for fun. This may affect their mental and physical health.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

wiseagent
"This may affect their mental and physical health."

I think these types of problems are not only associated with smartphone addiction. It's something that goes much further because any kind of addiction (although at first sight seems good) brings us some kind of harm.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
I rather be addicted to phones than drugs. I wouldn't say phones addiction causes mental and physical damage, no not at all but what I really could say phone addiction would do to someone is ruin his/her physical relationship with people around such person.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jemuelterrado
Yes probably me also, i prefer to get my addiction in gadgets like phones than drugs because drugs is so hard to control when you are used into it already. In my opinion phone addiction does affect our mental and physical health as far as i noticed on some of my friends. Some of them are hospitalized because of that gadget and they skip eating just for this very little thing. Some benefits are good and some are bad and it depends on how people use the gadget. Now and then i will never let my children to use gadgets most of the time because it is very hard for us parents to control them when time comes that it is late already to prevent them from addiction.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Smart phones have indeed made our lives a whole lot better and easier. It cannot be denied though that many people have abused thee gadgets and became too unproductive in real life because of their addiction in these.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes there is lots of devices or things that affects also our mental and physical and one of this is the devices we used in everyday life. It made our lives more easier but i hope this would not affect our life span of living here in earth. We can't deny that mobile is such a very good invention ever invented by inventors.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

When smart phone usage aids in over 90% of one's daily life activities, then there is no denying how important it is to man's existence. About people abusing it, well it's not a surprising thing because I already know that we human beings are flawed by nature.

When 90% of our daily lives revolves around phone usage from the moment that we wake up early in the morning, there is definitely no way that we can be to achieve anything without it. This is just about how much important phones are to our very existence.

When I wake up the first gadget that I use is my mobile phone. I use my mobile phone as my alarm clock as well as watch. When I wake up, I need to check the time, therefore, I check time on my phone. Once I know the time, I will check my emails. After I wash up, I boot my laptop.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I am trying very hard to detach myself from my gadgets. Aside from scheduling a phone-free day, I also trained myself not to use or touch any gadget immediately after I wake up especially if I am not expecting any important text message or call. I'm spending my first hour in the morning for my daily devotion before I prepare for our breakfast. I'm into my phone and laptop most of the time when I'm working because they are necessity to my job. It's my own way of disciplining myself not to have excessive use of gadgets.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SirenOnFire
Maybe I could so this too. I pray first thing when I wake up but it doesn't last as long as an hour. What made you decide to have a phone-free day? Isn't it quite hard? I think it would be for me since my phone has become a bank, library and many things for me that it would be quite difficult to not touch it for a day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mabhel
Hi, SirenonFire! Actually my phone-free day is every Sunday because I am in the church for almost eight hours or sometimes more than it and I don't usually bring my phone there. It's not hard for me to decide not to have my phone during Sundays because I know that I need to focus my self on worshiping the Lord. But this is just me. I understand that your phone is really important to you and I think it's not bad to use it often since it's very vital in your day to day transactions.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
To spend 8 or more hours in the Church for me is absolutely not possible. Is the world about to end or God coming immediately? If you call it a prison, I would definitely understand better but church, 8 hours plus stay, that's definitely not going to happen with me. I can only manage 1:30 minutes tops in the Church.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
I'm not consistent with always praying first when I wake up in the morning most times before pressing my phone. I definitely don't think that I can afford a phone free day. It's not possible, when all your daily business transactions is hanging on phones usage to finalize it, it's definitely going to be impossible not to use my phone just for 1 hour in a day and not to talk more of 24 hours. It's better you kill me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
This is very good of you. It's not really that easy as you are saying it. I have made efforts to change mine but not successful. The only way I control my addiction and urge to press phone first in the morning is offing the phone outrightly in the night before I sleep.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

AmieBotella
Unfortunately I am also a slave here to touching a gadget once my eyes start to open. Why? because I rely on an alarm clock to wake up everyday. That is basically the reason why I would check it first. And then I will bring the phone with me to the kitchen because there will be a second alarm to wake up my son who is going to school and this will go on while I am preparing for breakfast. When I don't do this sometimes I lose track of the time. you might be wondering, why not just let my son wake up to the alarm, right? Well, because he wouldn't easily wake up to the sound of it. He's nine and like every kid school days usually is the worst time to wake up early. While preparing for breakfast, I would open the television to hear the morning news. So that's the second thing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SirenOnFire
I do this too! Alarm clocks don't do much for me and I tend to just continue sleeping despite how loud it gets. I guess it's because we are too used with their sound that it doesn't register as something important to our brains while we sleep that we don't wake up. I use my phone as an alarm and change the alarm sound every now and then.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Personally to me, alarms are even too much of a variable to wake me up in the morning, with just a step of one's foot on the floor and I'm already awake, so therefore, if something as disturbing as an alarm doesn't take sleep practically away from my eyes, then I doubt if anything else could do it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Alarms are the day breaker for most of us. Although, there are several people who wakes up normally by 4:00 GMT probably as a result of constant habit of waking up by such hours. There is no denying that alarms are basically the first thing that wakes people up in the morning and mostly on their phones and the next thing is pick up the phone and surf the Internet. It's only a handful of us that pray first before phone pressing. To be honest I'm guilt of not praying before touching and pressing phones.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Heatman6190
Well, when you are addicted to your phones and tend to carry out 80% of what you transact in a day using it, then there is no denying you are absolutely and always going to be stuck with it even in your sleeping bed. I take my bath with my phone, go to the rest room while at home to carry out my rest room business with it as well. These shows you how much I'm tied to my phone, it's my mobile home and office.

It's apparently a terrible habit of mine, but the first thing I do when I wake up is use my phone. Like most people, I set my alarm on my smart phone. Right after the alarm goes off, I grab the phone, turn off the alarm and then turn on the internet and read the news. I don't do this because I have some addiction to the internet or feel the need to be up to date with current events, but because it wakes me up faster than just sitting up and trying to get my engines going. The combination of the bright light from my phone and the reading stimulating my brain helps me mentally wake up as I lay in bed for a few minutes. They say it isn't a good habit but I personally don't see what is so bad about it.

Well I suppose it's not all that terrible but I do wonder if it's bad for your eyes or something to be staring at your phone first thing in the morning. Before the advent of smart phones, even my parents used to turn on the television to watch the news with their coffee, first thing in the morning. My only concern is that, the spoiling effect of this technologies might suffer ourselves from different kind of social interaction. This should be a wide awareness to everyone, especially those people feel like to be a suicidal. Those people who always rely on these things might not good at all, sometimes it would cost physical health issues. I am more aware to the fact that, the new generation would rather choose themselves to separate from outside world.

But, as what I have observed today, we are not most probably interacting one another by this technology, it somehow takes us far when ever we use it, that's why I rarely use, but not necessarily.

I often time find this things waste, because when ever I do serious staff, I tend to ditch it by using this tablet technology I have, in shorty I become spoiled into it. The first gadget that I used when I wake up is probably my smartphone, I guess most people agree that this gadget is wherever we go and for mostly things we do, we always use this device for many things such as chatting or communicating with friends, relatives, schoolmates and so on, watching some videos online such funny videos, cooking, sports, lifestyle, celebrity news, music and so on, playing games, using the internet to search for information and a lot more things. Besides smartphones are everywhere, it makes us all connected with one another that maybe some of us won't live without, and if you don't want to loss something you always look for it right? That's why my smartphone is my first gadget that I used. Well God bless and thank you everyone.

Same thing here. The first thing I use when I open my eyes is my mobile phone. That's basically because I use my mobile phone as my bedside night clock and alarm. So, it's literally the very first thing I see when I open my eyes.

On top of that, my work is basically done on the internet. So, it's important for me to keep in touch with the people I liaise with on the internet. I have an active Facebook account and I also have a blog on Blogger. In fact, the internet has totally replaced the tv and newspapers for me. I have not watched tv for years. Newspapers? What's that? LOL

I bet most of the people nowadays can't live a week without their phones. Technology today has come too far. When you go to a public place majority of the people have their phones with them. Manufactures keep on upgrading and improving the devices that they have. Seeking to slave the next race of this generation. Just saying

A week? You're having a laugh@ryyde. Do you know most people me included go to the bathrooms with their phones? I don't think anyone would know what to do without their phone for 30 minutes!

It's brilliant that now you can do anything and everything on your phone. It simplifies everything. You can talk and text, set your alarm, read your email, read the news, watch the news, browse the internet and listen to music all on one device. Imagine if each function had a different device like in the old days we would have an alarm clock, a phone, a computer, a television, a radio and an mp3 player. A total of six devices. This would be expensive and bad for the environment when the devices are worn out and have to be thrown out.

Just like you, the first gadget I use is my phone simply because I want to check what time is it when I wake up. I don't wear a wrist watch at home so I look at my phone in the morning then I leave it. I eat my breakfast first. To answer your question, I think using a gadget isn't so bad at all as long as we use it in moderation. The first thing we should do in the morning is eat breakfast. It should be a habit. No gadgets on the dining table. I go online after eating to talk a bit to people then I do my freelance work. I sometimes do my business too. I sometimes meet my clients or coach people in the morning. Basically, I use gadgets for communication and entertainment during my free time. I use it in moderation. At least this can also help avoid overuse of gadgets, which can prolong its function.

I don't know how you made this observation because people are far apart and you cannot see what gadget each one of them will use. I also check notifications on my phone sometime after I wake up. I think the phone is the first device everyone uses in general.

I check my tablet first thing in the morning just for the time, mostly, but after a few minutes I maybe would try putting on some music or a video to slowly wake me up further. I used to be hesitant checking gadgets first thing in the morning because I felt like I would become too dependent but nowadays I've learned to just allow it because I don't find much reason to fight it anymore. I like having some good music or podcast to get me started for the day.

I always grab my smart phone early in the morning to check messages and emails. I start my day answering those while preparing myself for a 30-minute running session. This also will serve as my Ipod since I usually gather all my songs onto a playlist in my smartphone. It is just an easy access for me to all the things that needs to be first each morning.

Yes bro I am one of those who have fallen to the same system. I always get to check my mobile phone and see if there are important messages or notifications that I missed. Then open my Facebook or twitter for the latest updates. Hate to say this I don't have any intention of stopping it. I find convenient to start the day knowing the things you missed while you are sleeping.

Most of the people grab their smartphones as soon as they open their eyes, and I was one of them. I use my smartphone as my alarm clock so it is really necessary to grab it and turn it off. Smartphone has been an essential in my life, this is where I grab updates from my school, on what is happening on the society and to connect with my long-distance families.

The first thing I do in the morning is to reach my smartphone. I am guilty on this. I think it's an automatic thing that most of us do.

This is the exact thing I do every morning as well. I check to see what sort of notifications I have from the night. However, I leave the sound on my phone up load, since it's also my alarm clock in the morning.

I don't think I'm much different than anyone else here in that the first device I use when I wake up is my cell phone. I sleep with it charging on my nightstand, so it's always within an arm's reach. In fact, my cell phone acts as my alarm clock too, waking me up each morning. This in itself secures itself as the first device I touch since I have to turn the alarm off!

I guess, just like everybody, once I wake up the first thing I lay my hands on is my phone. It's kind of a bad habit because I don't get out of bed, I usually spend 30 more minutes or even an hour in bed with my phone before I finally get out of bed and start my morning routine.

Once I wake up I immediately grab my laptop. I'm the kind of person that sleeps before completing a task. And every single day I need to work on my report. So every time I wake up, I grab my laptop, open MS Word, and MS Powerpoint and do my report/s.

The first thing I grab with me as I wake up early in the morning is my phone. I see to it that I won't miss any message sent to me or missed calls if there are any.
I always check as well my Facebook messages and Facebook group chats for the latest updates with regards to my job.

The first gadget that I'm using when I get up in the morning is my cellphone. I always take a look if there's an urgent message first before I get into the shower and take my breakfast. Sometimes I'm scrolling to Facebook just to see some events or to look for a news.

It is my alarm clock, even when I am half-awake my mobile is the first gadget I use. That snooze button is a subtle reminder of my day-start. The first app I close is the alarm clock, on school days the first app I open is the weather app, try to check if the kids don't have to go to school and I'd have more sleep time, yahoo!

First of all I look in my smartwatches. Honestly, watches are a very important part of my garderobe. At home and while the walking I wear smartwatches, but when i am on business meeting, I wear simple wrist watches. Think that they look more officially. My favorite watches are japanese rolex clones. If you are not sure for them, i can tell you that all watches ae made from solid 904L stainless steel. All who reads this thread is interested to Buy Replica Rolex Watches.
