Work in your entire life for other people, or become an entrepreneur?

I was raised in the idea of having a great secured job as I finished my studies. I always receive advice
from my parents and teachers that I have to study well and finish college in order for me to have a good life. This idea has been instilled in my mind as I’m growing up. I managed to finish college and became a teacher. After more than seven years of working as a teacher, I realized that I want to become rich, and being a teacher could not make it possible. I wanted to stop working at an early age and be with my family most of the time. I don’t want to be working until I get old. I also want to help other people. If I’m rich, I could help lots of people in need.

So I researched on how to become rich. I read different books, blogs, and watched videos on how to become rich. From different authors of books and successful financial gurus, they have common advice for those who want to become rich, and that is to become an entrepreneur.

I have read success stories about people who have limited education but became wealthy. And in the reality, there are really many intelligent people who have acquired great education and graduated from prestigious school that are working hard for a person that didn’t even finished secondary education. There are also people who have finished a degree that decided to leave their jobs and started their own business.

How about you? Do you want to work in your entire life for other people, or do you want to become an
entrepreneur?

I honestly believe that the days of becoming an entrepreneur are over. Everyone has been there and done that to the moon and back. And don't get me wrong a few people may make it here and there. But its going to be few and far inbetween and most people are going to be left with huge debt and disappointment. There for its a lot better to get a high paying career and work for someone else.

I actually think that it's going to depend on a number of factors, and on your definition of what an entrepreneur is. Strictly speaking, an entrepreneur is simply someone who starts their own business. When it comes to physical businesses, a lot of your success will vary on location. A packed city with multiple businesses that cover pretty much everything under the sun, is obviously going to be harder to succeed in. On the other hand, smaller towns that don't have so much going on would be considered uncharted territory for certain businesses and entrepreneurs. As for online businesses, sure we see plenty of people failing to succeed but given the amount of successful Kickstarter campaigns and people being funded through services like Patreon, online businesses are still thriving as well.

It is all going to vary depending on what your definition of a "business" is as well as what you view as being successful.

Just look around brick and mortar shops are closing up left and right. They open and a year or two later they close up. And the same can be said for restaurants, they open and close within a few years. And even the big chain restaurants are trying to hold on and not go under. It's like I said you're better off working for someone then losing out on a lot of money unless you have a lot of money to burn!

I think that's a very pessimistic way of looking at things. If you look at different statistics most businesses that start fail within a couple of years. I don't think this is a bad thing. In my opinion, failure is a way to learn. Look at Donald Trump who has been declared bankrupt before. He didn't give up and resolve to work for someone. He fought and today he is a billionaire and the president of the United States of America.

In my opinion, it's good to work for someone to get experience. But we also have the obligation to give others opportunity and create employment. If everyone decides to be an employee they will be no new jobs created and the same old companies will be employers and that monopoly would be dangerous.

Well at some point maybe your right but I guess, it is not just about it I mean, every one of us are dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur someday and maybe we can do that if we will going to set our lifr that someday it could be possible.

When I was a kid I was also taught that to have a better future we need to go to school so that we can get a well paying job someday. But when I experienced on how to earn money through business I just keep on thinking that this particular thing which is having a business is also a great one since you can be your own boss that nothing would dictate you for whatever decision you are going to make. The only problem in having a business is the growing competition in the market wherein there are a lot of risk and uncertainty that you are going to encounter, There are some risk that your business might shut down or gain more profit. But if you have stable job that is well paying then I don't see any reason why you should quit from it except if you are having a low salary that cannot supplement with your daily needs. Furthermore, I would like to do them both if I have just the money and time to do it since it is much better if you have a stable job while at the same time having a business.

I feel like both options have their advantages and disadvantages. It is good to be an enterprenour if you have what it takes and the times and markets are stable. Otherwise it might be very stressful. Working for somebody else will always give you more security but also there are boundaries and you can't take any decisions.

It's a game where the perfect balance has to be achieved. It's not an easy thing to achieve because in addition to technical aspects and personal training, you need to have a natural aptitude and willpower for it.

Keeping working for someone or deciding to be your own boss is always a difficult decision.

The advantages of becoming an entrepreneur are far better than the advantages of working for someone all our lives. I mean for the fact that you lack that freedom to do anything you want while working for someone makes it a tough task for someone like me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anor0428
It is really hard to choose because both have different benefits and consequences to face. You have to consider your ability on which you can work the best either be your own boss or work for a boss. But I guess between the two, having your own business takes a lot more risks. You must also be prepared for the ups and downs of your business, because most of the entrepreneur are facing this problems before they become really successful.

I have chosen to mind my business. I don't think I can bear working for someone for large periods of time considering that I'm that type of person that likes taking up challenges. So, I don't think to work for someone will give me that freedom.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anor0428
Yes. The
freedom of working and be your on boss is a lot better than doing works for someone else. Here you wont be stressed out if you want changes and different rules. It is indeed risky and challenging but it is also fulfilling once you succeed.

Risk part is more on business side. And less on job side. You require more risk on job side for work. But financially more risk is on business side. So on that point it'd be reasonable to see how that works out. You can see that business takes years to adjust. And that's something we all have to check out for the proper establishment. Business is lot harder than the job.

I think most people would love to become an entrepreneur because no one likes to work their entire life for other people and to be bossed around all the time. Everyone would love to have the chance to become their own boss. The problem is that this is not always easy so most people have to make do with working for other people for most of their life. To be honest, I don't mind it as long as I am at a happy job and I am getting paid a good salary.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Before I was an online earner, I used to earn a good salary, very stable income, nothing to worry about. I guess that pressure is there whether you are working online or offline

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Working for someone else may not be as bad as people imagine as long as you are happy with the job you are performing... Otherwise it's best to organize yourself to start your own path and walk with your own legs (because your satisfaction in doing so will surely be something immensely greater).

Of course starting a business on your own can be pretty scary, but it's all just a matter of will, right? Work in your entire life for other people, or become an entrepreneur?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anor0428
I agree. As long as you are enjoying your job and you love doing your job, then there would be no reason to leave. Unless you are confident enough that having your own business would be better than your actual job. But one must be prepared for the consequences what ever would be the choice Work in your entire life for other people, or become an entrepreneur? But for me, either the two works fine, you just have to choose where can you be at your best.

If you like your current job it's still a good idea to become an entrepreneur on the side. The extra income can be very useful. Also, you never know what could happen at your place of work. Jobs and companies downsize, fire, let people go, or just crash all the time. I bet when the American financial market crashed years ago, a lot of those people wished they had something sustainable on the side.

This is the worst thing that could happen to an employee. No matter how good you are and what you've contributed to the company, when the time comes that they cannot afford you anymore, they will let you go. Or if the company will be managed by new person, there's a possibility that you will be replaced.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
Yep. That's why it's your duty to go into business for yourself on the side in addition to being gainfully employed. You don't have to let your employer know though. In fact, it's actually best if you don't.

Judas2018,

I agree with that.

Depending on your technical / mental preparation to face the challenge... Working for someone and at the same time having your own business can be very rewarding (not just financially, but personally).

And our body become weaker as we grow older. We never know until we can be useful in our current job. It's better to prepare for it before it happens. Having a well established business that produces passive income ensures that you will be able to continue your lifestyle and could still support your family needs in case something bad happens to you. Maybe today we have our strength and full of energy that able us to work on our job, but we never know what will happen tomorrow.

Yes, being happy to do in your chosen career is really important. There are people that just love to work rather than to become an employee. Like in the field of education. There are teachers that devoted their entire life in teaching their students. They take pride of molding and helping their students reach their dreams.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

wiseagent
Yes, the example of the teachers is great to make it clear that there are professions where you prefer to work for others to feel a personal motivation.

I already taught English, but unfortunately... This profession wasn't for me, because here, in my country (Brazil), the devaluation of the teacher profession is something extremely demotivating.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DarthHazard
Teachers are such a good example because I don't think they care too much about promotions or whether or not they work for themselves. As long as their students are doing well then they are happy. Well, most teachers are like that. There will, of course, be some that put themselves first instead of the kids that they teach. I'm very sorry to hear that. What do you mean by the fact that they devalue teachers?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

wiseagent
I honestly believe that the teacher profession is one of the noblest professions in the world because it is not only helping to train citizens, it's the kind of job where people give up many material things in order to work. I mean, it's almost like a devotion to the world. But, as I said in my previous comment, here in my country this is something far removed from reality.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
Teachers in America are not paid very well unless they're teaching at an elite, well known private institution. Public school teachers make very little. At the same time, they sometimes have to fight to keep their jobs because some students don't take learning seriously and it shows in graduation rates.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Here in Brazil things are not so different because there is a very clear difference (beginning with the salary question) concerning the difference of classes between / among the types of teachers and where they teach.

I agree for everything you said buddy, there is no guarantee that if you finish a degree you will have an amazing job someday sometimes people who don't finished anything are the ones who are becoming that rich such as the likes of Steve Jobs, one of the founders of Apple Company. But in the other hand, it is better to make sure of your future by attending college and earning a degree because there is a higher chance that you may fail for not everyone are like Steve Jobs. It is not like, ow I don't want to study because I can be rich anyway it doesn't always go that way.

For the question of whether I will work for other people or become an entrepreneur, I would say that it always goes down to the person who is weighing his or her option regarding this manner. Would you say that you are happy in serving others or not? Is it really your passion to this kind of things? Do you want to serve others at the first place? These are just questions you can ask yourself to arrive to an answer. But if I will be the one who will pick I would rather serve other people by means of conducting business or yeah entrepreneur. By doing this, you don't need to let down the other option for you will still help others such as conducting a business where your employees are poor people, you know what I mean right? Well being a teacher I would say is one of the honorable jobs in the world and leaving it just to become rich is somehow unnecessary because you can multitask if you want, You can become a teacher while still be an entrepreneur, nowadays practicality should be used most of the time. Well God bless and thank you very much everyone.

You've reached the same conclusion I came to a few years ago. I feel that most of us have been let down by the school system that teaches us and prepares us for employment.

I think this limits the life we all can lead. Imagine spending 40 or more years working for someone and then retiring , with barely enough savings, to look after you for the rest of your life. To me that's not living that's existing.

I recommend reading the book Rich Dad , Poor Dad. This book changed my life and mirrors your comment, that you can only be rich as a business owner. It also illustrates the difference between how a rich person and a middle class person thinks.

The traditional path we are brought up to take e.g go to school, university than look for a job , sets us all up for a middle class life and a mediocre existence.

That's all fine and dandy but how many businesses do you see that open and close? Around where I live it's like a revolving door. Granted there are some places that do make it. But often the others they either change owners or they end up folding up shop and sometimes they even change owners and still fold up shop.

This isn't like the 50's, 60's, 70's ,80,s 90's and early 2000's. Businesses have changed, everyone wants something for free and they are going to get it from the cheapest place even if its $0.01 of a difference in price. There is no more store/business loyalty.

That's why online store is a trend today. You can have an online store and offer products that you don't own. You'll never have to worry about the stocks, the inventory, and storage of the products. Dropshipping is one of the trends today. You can sell and earn profits from the products that you'll get from your supplier and will be delivered directly to your buyers. The only investment you need is to setup your online store. It is a low investment, low risk, but high earnings potential. And your store is operating 24/7.

That is the reason I am always scared of working for someone all my life. Imagining that I would keep taking up a small percentage of what I really deserve after working all these while is not a good decision for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree. This is probably one of the reason why some people are choosing to have their own business. To get more, to be more suscessful than to just work for other people. I quit my full time job some years back to become a freelancer. To be honest I earn more as a freelancer. There are many advantages of being a freelancer. I am mainly into online selling and tutoring. I also have a small offline business. I have been more successful at online selling. To be successful as a seller you must try to retain your customers and at the same time attract existing customers. This is quite difficult but once you have mastered the skills to do it then nothing can prevent you from being successful. There are some risks associated with entrepreneurship. I am a risk lover and so I prefer to take risks. If I fail then I learn from it and try to succeed the next time.

That's what I also want to do, to have an online business that could give me passive income. Creating digital products is on demand and keeps on growing in the coming years according to study done by other people who are successful already in this industry. In Amazon.com, their sales in e-books have surpassed their sales in hard bound books. And their still needs for people more who could create digital products. I'm currently learning how to become an online entrepreneur and hope that this could allow me to quit my day job. I also want to have a traditional business but I find it more difficult to start with because it needs bigger capital and good managing skill to make it work.

Hello! I am currently employed in a private company and honestly even if I am enjoying my job and I get along with my colleagues really, really well, I am also considering the idea of having my own business. I want to earn from doing something which is really my passion. But just like what you've said, it is hard to start a business without capitalization and also if I give my full time on it, I have to resign from my job which also means that I have to consider my resources to suffice my needs. So since I still can't afford to venture out, I now have to start saving money for my future plan of putting up a business.

If you have a website keep on producing quality content for your readers. You have to develop authority on the niche you are in. If you can show them that you know what you are talking about they will trust you and they will look up at you as their solution provider. When you offer them something that could solve their problems, there's a possibility that they will buy from you. Always think about what your readers will benefit from what you are promoting.

I totally dig the idea of being an entrepreneur. Working for someone all your life is like not attaining your full potential. The school system has trained us to graduate with a good degree just for jobs. If there are no entrepreneurs out there creating more of these jobs, how far is the sustainability of existing jobs. Not everyone is cut from the same cloth.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
That's also one of the reasons why there is scarcity in the job market. Most of us are trained to become a good employee rather than become an entrepreneur. Every year there are many graduates who looks for jobs and only a small percentage of graduates who started a business. If there are many entrepreneurs will be made, there could also be many jobs available.

You can be employed and have a regular job while you work on starting or running your own business. People do it all the time. Timing is something you can't control though. Your business may take off right away, allowing you to leave your day job earlier than expected. Or it might take awhile. I think the dream though for most people is to eventually become an entrepreneur of some kind.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes it is true. Many people are doing business while having a regular job. Some do online business since it is more convenient for them to manage it than having an actual business. It is actually ideal for someone who both love doing his job and business. but then again, time management here is really important to success on both field.

I have tried to be an entrepreneur in the past and I have to say that is it way harder than it seems. All I can say is that it's not for everyone. It's hard to answer that. I could give it another go if I could associate myself with someone who really had the business know-how and experience in the field. I wouldn't give it a go on my own that's for sure. Don't have the necessary knowledge and skills

Well for me, both options are profitable. But I will go to the intrepreneur side. Because as I have seen my uncle's work he works as an intrepreneur cause for him working with other people makes him works more than what he gets. He earn so much more than a man working for other people. He just have to be in his computer 24/7 and sit all the rest of the day. Plus he just work in his home. He does not need to go to the city just to work and get tired. Of course I was amazed. Because as a student I thought that all man after graduating to college must work with other people to become successful. But according to my uncle" working for other people and earn is good but working by your own and earn so much is better". That's why I will go to an intrepreneur option. No offense.

Let's borrow T. Harv Eker Financial Philosophy:

"If you're going to work hard anyway, you might as well get rich... and the quicker the better!"

Sometimes it's really sad that we are working really hard to make other people's dreams come true. Like our bosses.

So while we work hard for other people, let's work hard also on building the life that we really wanted.

I was also raised in a society where having a regular 9-5 job was thought to be the best career option. However, I surprised my parents, relatives, and friends by choosing not to have a regular job but a freelance career. I started writing for newspapers, then tool my career to the next level by writing online. Currently, apart from writing, I also work as an internet marketer and web designer. I have recently started my own online business.
Unless you generate fat salary, there is the limitation on what you can do with your earning when you have a regular job. However, when you are an entrepreneur, you can make your own rules to make money.

I also have a friend that didn't work for someone else even she finished college. She really doesn’t like the idea of working for other people. Her entrepreneurial mind set started when she was in college. She used
to sell perfumes, clothes, accessories, and other stuff. When she learned how to bake cookies and cakes, she focused on that skill and until now that’s her main source of income. And she really earns good amount of money compared to the monthly salary that a corporate manager could receive here in our country.

I think it's going to depend on a number of factors really, a lot of them depending on whether you're a risk taker or enjoy a more secure, comfortable living. Typically working for other, already established businesses is going to be the more secure route. If they've already got a solid foothold within the market, then odds are they aren't going anywhere, and neither will you so long as you work hard and hopefully don't get laid off. Becoming an entrepreneur on the other hand, it is without a doubt the riskier route. Starting off, the work is going to be far harder than anything you'd do at a company, and there is no guarantee that it will pay off. And even if it begins to seem like it's paying off, it can all come crashing down at any point.

There are times that we have no choice but to accept being an employee instead of working for your own business or being an entrepreneur. Of course if ill be choosing from both option i would prefer to work as an entrepreneur. There are good sides of being entrepreneur and these are the following:

1. Making your own decisions. I answer to no one. I thrive on the fact that the success of my business depends on me. Getting to experience the impact of my choices day in and day out fills me with confidence and keeps me on my toes.

2. Meeting and working with remarkable people. I feel like I’ve gotten to know some of the most interesting people in the world -- many of whom are entrepreneurs like myself. It’s a fantastic community.

3. Limitless income potential. How much money you make is up to you.

4. Freedom. For me, the ability to live where I want and vacation as I please has been invaluable.

So entrepreneur is the best only if you knew how to make it work .

For me no i don't want to work in my whole entire life i want to become and entrepreneur in the future where in i will build my own business and get rich someday because working alone is limiting your capacity to do other bigger opportunity deals that can make your life more successful so if you have chance to become an entrepreneur i would highly suggest to give it a shot so that we will know if that deal is for us and possible make our life better.

I believe entrepreneurship is the way to go in this era especially in my country where people are paid peanut for all the work done.Unless it a government job which job security is sure, with bonuses, allowances, and incentives but if it private sector is better to start one business and see how it goes.

My country is suffering from a high unemployment rate and this is forcing people to become entrepreneurs. Some of them can achieve relative success, while others can't find a way and get lost even more.

It's a very complicated situation to become an entrepreneur without studying enough for this.

What you have stated is certainly true but to achieve something big you have to take a risk. Most of the millionaires around the world have made their own wealth through hard work, gaining knowledge and taking risks.

I agree that you have to take the risk, but when the situation is very complicated (because some people only have that single amount of money available)... Sometimes it's better to wait a little longer and be more cautious because luck must also be in our favor to give us more motivation to risk something.

Many times it's almost like being shot in the dark.

Unable to get the opportunity of being employed sometimes really forces others to start a business on their own and work hard to make it successful. Here in our country, most of the richest people started with nothing and now they own the biggest businesses in the country.

It's like having no choice awakens the entrepreneurial thinking of a person.

I can say that the decision depends on the person. If you're the type of person who is a team player, (a person who is willing to join an organization and help them achieve their goals) then you may want to get a job from a company of your interest. On the other hand, if you're the type of person who likes to set goals and make a decision for yourself, then you may try your luck in creating your own line of business.

Currently, I am an employee of a company and I can say that I'm proud of it. It's my first job and there's a lot of enjoyment and disappointments at the same time. I'm still enjoying the most out of it because I also have a plan to set my business in the near future. Work in your entire life for other people, or become an entrepreneur?

I don't think that there is a person who just works his entire life without trying this or that, you can always be an entrepreneur, everyone has ideas that they want to fulfill, however they don't have the necessary tools to do it. They are different for different people, however anyone can achieve them if they work hard enough.

It is indeed a great question I have been asking myself for the past 5-6 years. I am a full time employee in a private company. I love my work but I am not my boss there. I will love to be my own boss. Starting a business requires adequate capital and I want to save enough money to become an entrepreneur. After passing from college, I had many new ideas but had no money. I am working and maybe in the future have enough money to start my own venture.

I have seen highly educated and smart people leave their high paying jobs to become entrepreneurs. Some have been extremely successful. Some people have become millionaires by their hard work and perseverance.

Business is all about risk. To become a successful business owner you must enjoy the risk. This involves not knowing what is going to happen tomorrow but knowing you can deal with it.

I 'm not for the idea of hanging on to your job until your business takes off. Fulltime work involves 8 hours. When you get home your really tired and just want to go to bed.

If you read the stories of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Richard Branson you'll realize the value of risk. Just go for it. When your back is against a wall you will be surprised what you can achieve.

Just recently I read the story of an online mom. She was downsized. Her husband also lost his job. She was diagnosed with skin cancer and had no health insurance. In one month she became an online writer. She received her cheque for $1000. Now she makes between $5000 to $ 10,000 a month. She has a writing business.

Moral of the story don't give yourself a choice or options and you will be surprised at how far you will go.

It's okay to fail because it will give you lessons but of course you have to learn from it.

I can definitely vouch for this thinking and this manner of growing up. I have finished school and college and managed to put up a small business based on my field of study. I am one of those young dreamers that I can do it early. I did actually established myself. But it was no easy fit. Just like in working as an employee it has its own ups and downs. But it generally is rewarding at most. You don't have to feel bad at being an employee, but be grateful for the experience that it has lead you on to something more. Sometimes this has to be the way for you to your greener future. Like when you're in school studying, it is a learning process. Most if not all, of the rich and famous persons now start from being an employee and then dreamed more. All I can say is, establish what you want, and aim for it. Business is not for everybody, and so is employment. Nobody can determine this but us alone. Keep of pushing!

I prefer to become an entrepreneur. I do believe that we are not born just to work, pay bills, and die. You can use employment as a stepping stone for building a business. As a life and business coach, I want to share a few things I have learned about being an employee and entrepreneur. Employees are overpaid in the beginning and underpaid for the rest of their lives. Entrepreneurs are underpaid in the beginning and overpaid for the rest of their lives, which means sacrifice is temporary and once the business takes off, you will live a fortune.

The best time to start a business is while you're at your 20's. Start while you are young and healthy. You have a lot of energy to take risks, make sacrifices, and learn the business. You have less responsibilities since you are single. Starting a business at a young age also prepares you for an early retirement as well as the emergencies that might come your way.

Business is something that you own. Building your business leads you to building your very own dreams. It gives you the opportunity to live life your own terms later on since it is your ticket to financial freedom. What is financial freedom? It is the ability to live life without having to rely on someone else for money because you earn an uninterrupted passive income that is higher than your expenses. It can even cover your dreams. Money is not an issue while you enjoy the freedom of doing the things that really matter to you. Since business is something that you own, you have control over it. It can give you true financial security especially when it gives you a passive income. In employment, the income stops once you stop working since you earn active income. A business can help you sustain life once the work stops.

A lot of people are not willing to take the risk of starting a new business. They prefer to play it safe, which is actually wrong. The greatest risk is not taking risks at all. It prevents progress in life. You don't have to be like everybody else and just go with the flow. You can attain your financial freedom without having to wait until you're 65. The greatest benefit a business can give you is the fulfillment of your dreams. It gives you the opportunity to enjoy life and live it at its fullest. Sacrifice now and enjoy life as you retire young and rich. Live your dreams, spend the rest of your life with your family, and bless people.

This is really a great insight thanks for sharing. And thank you for noticing my post. It’s really a great pleasure that someone like you that is already in the business of coaching people have spent time to share ideas.

I think one of the reasons why people are afraid of taking risks when it comes to business is how their minds have been programmed as they’re growing up. I, for example, as I’m growing up my parents would always remind me to study well so that I can finish college and be able to get a nice job. My father was just a carpenter and my mother was a sales lady. Every time they talk about money and business, I always hear them that business is risky and business is not for everyone. And we should not aim to become rich because rich people don’t have peace in mind because they’re always thinking about their money and their worried that they might get robbed.

I carried this kind of thinking as I was growing up. Whenever my friends and I speaks about becoming rich, I would also say the same thing what my parents told me about rich people. So in my mind it has been planted that I don’t want to be rich because rich people doesn’t have peace on mind. And business is too risky.

When I graduated from college in 2008, I know nothing about business so my only choice is to apply for a job. Fortunately two months after my graduation, I was able to get a job as an IT instructor. At first I was very excited and really proud of my job. I enjoy teaching and sharing to my students with the knowledge that I have and I’m happy to see them learn.

For more than 9 years of being an instructor, there are many times that I ask myself, until when I’m going to do this? There are many times I thought about starting a business so that I could quit from my job. But I’m really afraid of doing it because I have so many what if’s in my mind. What if I failed? What if the business will not grow? What if I could not find another job?

Despite of my worries about starting a business, I did have the chance to enter the business world back in 2010. I was able to start a small business, selling beauty products, health and fitness. I’ve got the capital from my aunt, I rented a space for the business and then I personally manage it.

I started a business and manage it by myself without having knowledge of being a businessman. I entered a business with worries in my mind that it may fail. And of course, it did not go well. After six months since I started the business, I noticed that I’m just losing money and not gaining so decided to stop the business.

So after my failure in my first business venture, I did go back in teaching again and until now I’m still in
this career.

I honestly say that I’m not totally happy with my current job. And I always thought of having time and
financial freedom. But because of my upbringing of becoming an employee and worries that I may fail again, I’m trapped in this situation.

But I’m still hoping that one day I could have the courage and essential knowledge to start again a business. I’m 36 years old now and I’m hoping that before I reach the age of 40 I would be living already the life that I really wanted. Even not that I’d become rich but at least I have the TIME AND FINANCIAL FREEDOM.

By the way, I’m from the Philippines and I’m living in a province where salary is not that high.

Thanks for the insights. I am in agreement with everything that you have written down. Nonetheless, government policies are also the biggest challenge for most start-up entrepreneurs. Depending on your country, policies are making most people to avoid the risk.

Immediately after college, my friend and I started a small partnership business, but two years later we were forced to close it. So much was going to the government authorities, which was causing harm. I still have hopes of starting another business someday.

Also, do a lot of study into it so you won't make mistakes, obviously and finally, try to develop good credit and acquire collateral so you can get the loans that will allow you to succeed.

I can make my own hours, set my own rates, determine who I do and don't work with, and I have complete control over the product that I produce for my clients.

There's just a freedom to being an entrepreneur that you don't get elsewhere, and that's what really intrigues me.

So why not start a business while still young and maybe you could retire young and rich - according to Robert Kiyosaki.

I would have loved to work for myself rather than serving other people. The most important reason for this is that people don't really deserve to be served as such. Life is too short to stress yourself with people who don't even deserve to be an issue in your life. No amount of labour and time put in on other people's jobs can be commensurate. You can never be appreciated for any effort you put in. Considering the amount of time you spend with your boss, if the same amount of time is devoted to your own job, you will surely step up.

I've worked for more than a decade with different companies before deciding to quit my full time job to start my freelancing career and offline business and to have more time for my family. I had no intention from the beginning to spend my lifetime working for a company or at the same job until my retirement age. I know that there is more to life than having to report for a 9 to 5 + overtime job. The long hours of work on my last employment took a toll on my health. I suffered from hormonal imbalance due to stress. The salary simply wasn't worth it. I find entrepreneurship challenging. I may fail in the attempt but at least I'm trying to make it on my own. I'm still running a one-person business but who knows? I'm already earning more than the salary I was receiving in a highly stressful job and that has helped my family significantly. Of course everybody's dream is to be an entrepreneur and have other people working for them, but they have to be aware that the stress is bigger, because you run your own company, and you have to be sure everything is right and your work is productive.
