Handcrafted items with a story behind them

I will pay far more money for a handcrafted item that has a unique story behind it. For instance, if the seller tells about how the gems used to create a piece of jewelry were mined in an exotic part of the world and goes into detail about how many hours the craftsman spent, then I become emotionally involved with that item and feel that I must own it. Also, if there is interesting lore or legend about an item that makes it seem more collectible, then it makes me want it more.

Yes if there is a unique story behind it then I will pay more to know that it has a bit of meaning to it.

I love reading about the inspiration behind a work of art, painting or hand crafted item. Even if an artist takes some time to explain their work process that went into completion of the art work , that would mean a lot to me.

The more sentimentality behind an item's creation, the more likely I am to want to buy it. After all, the reason for buying a hand crafted item is to experience the love put into the item's creation. With a mass manufactured product, there is no love or pride in craftsmanship, it's all about profit.

Things like that made specially to tell a story are what people are willing to pay more for. I will also spend money in buying such handcraft that tells a story about it.

I agree that a handcrafted or non-handcrafted items that has a story about it, makes it more special and makes it more interesting. Like it makes the item more valuable and an awesome piece of art.

Yes me too i like to collect things that have a great story behind them specially art craft , antiques and jewelry it just makes me amaze on what is the story behind all of that. i buy it for collection purposes.

I go more for the unique carving of an artwork than the story behind it.I have been in an exhibition where people keep on buying the art work with stories behind them and it was all good.But for me I go for something unique and outstanding.
