Holidays..... Do you celebrate all of them?

We are in holiday season and people are in spirit full gear as always. Do you celebrate all of the holidays? I personally do not for religious reasons, but even if i was not into god i don't think i would celebrate all of the holidays. These special occasions use to be all about family and friends and now it just seems like its all about when you get as a gift. Thanksgiving is a holiday based on genocide, but aside from that its all about the food. When i was growing up it was about being with family spending time laughing and sharing stories. When i ask my friends now they say " I cant wait for the food". Do you think family values have deteriorated over the years? What about holidays are they still as important to you now than when you where growing up? I am interested in hearing feedback about this, hearing what you have to say interest me.

As always thank you for reading please don't forget to follow me.

I used to celebrate holidays as a kid and loved the time that was spent with family, especially family you havent seen in awhile!

As far as family values deteriorating, in my opinion, yes they have, at least here in the United States. The style of parenting has changed immensely and has therefore had a huge decrease in people having respect for others, especially the younger generations.

thanks for sharing jkeyz, great discussion!

I tried not to get scriptural but these are facts. I don't think its only here in the US either its happening all over the world. Holidays are not what they use to be back when i was a kid. I choose not to celebrate holidays each one for different reasons. But a reason that covers all of them are values and morals have gone away. The love that people use to have for each other is gone. The younger kids only have the remodels they where given in life and they are mostly a product of environment. Thanks for sharing i appreciate your time!

No. I don't celebrate all the holidays. Christmas and "midsummer" are two holidays I celebrate. Halloween and things like that aren't that huge in Sweden so I usually don't celebrate those. I'm also that kind of guy who can "celebrate" at any given point. I'm usually rather spontaneous, so any Saturday might be a perfect day to do something special. To "celebrate" a little extra.

Christmas for instance, is very important to me, but not in the way as others might think. I don't care about gifts and presents. And I don't want my entire family and all my relatives to celebrate together. I want to celebrate Christmas with my mother (and my father when he was alive) and together with my girlfriend. The people that are closest to me.

Yes these are the values that have gone away in so many homes across the world. It is really sad to see some of these kids and all they care about are the newest sneakers and what people are buying them instead of seeing family. Maybe its an age thing maybe not. When i was younger i always remember being excited about who i was going to see. Growing up we where not guaranteed gifts and when we did get things for Christmas it wasn't a lot. My mother was a single mom with 3 kids she worked 2 jobs and we lived in New York, even back then the cost of living was high in NY. Maybe thats why i never cared about the gifts because we never had any money to get any anyway lol. I want to see my family all the time not only on holidays. Thanks for sharing man!

Ok well I love food, so yes that plays a part but only really because when we get together as a family over holidays we all eat together so it is more about being together as a family than eating all the food if that makes sense.

I am not religious and my family are not religious, but my husband's family is religious.

For me I celebrate all the holidays, simply because I think any excuse for some fun and celebrations are great! But also because every holiday means I get to spend quality time with my family.

My older sister and my nephew live in the UK. My other sister, my parents and myself are in South Africa but we all live in different parts of the country.

I live near my husband's family.

So what usually happens on holidays is all my family will come and stay with us (including my sister and nephew from UK) or we will all go to my parents.

This means that holidays is when I get to see my family!

I don't joke with holiday periods from Christmas to Easter to public holidays given by the government to mark one event or another. These periods are necessary for one to relax the body, mind and soul after days, weeks and months of working. It is just like recharging one's battery to avoid issues of breaking down to stress or illness.

Holidays periods are essential to anybody that wants to take good care of himself

I don't celebrate many of them, the only thing we celebrate here is Christmas and New year's eve. Halloween is not a thing in my country but I know of some people that organize theme parties for it. Holidays used to be more exciting for me when I was a kid, now I would say that it is just another day with good food. I usually spend the holidays with my family only, we don't buy presents for each other, we just sit and have some nice dinner and a couple of drinks and that's it.

In India we follow a lot of holidays. We have Diwali, Holi, Christmas, Eid, Durga Puja, Navratri etc. I love and enjoy each one of the holidays with my friends and family. Diwali, the festival of lights is the main holiday in India. People celebrate Diwali in India as well as in many countries of the world with considerable Hindu population. Holi, the festival of colors is celebrated by people with great joy. I celebrate Christmas with my Christian friends and Eid with my muslim friends.

India is a country of festivals, where every festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm.

Here in my country, the holiday we most celebrated is Christmas. Actually, we celebrated two days that month, December 24th and 31st. On December 24th make a meal and everyone sleep early that night because Santa is coming especially the children.
And on December 31st, we have a big meal and eat grapes thinking on 12 wishes you would want to come true in the new year that is coming, and we wait until 12 am to receive the new year drinking champagne.

I think it's a tradition here in the Philippines that you need to celebrate it. The amazing part is whether your rich or poor you can celebrate it with your family. The most celebrated Holidays here would be Halloween and Christmas Day, where on Halloween some streets would have a contest where you need to wear the scariest costume and you'll win like $3 or more while on Christmas Day people would dress up just to go to their godfather( ninong/ninang) and ask for money.

Yeah! They're much awaited holidays through the entire year here in the Philippines. During Halloween, we do sleep over at the cemetery. We play games, watch movies, and a lot of stuff. At Christmas, we always gather at our house together with my family and all my relatives to celebrate Christmas Eve. We also play lots of cool and fun games and at 12 midnight, that's the time to open the gifts and eat delicious foods. Halloween and Christmas are around the corner now. I can't wait to celebrate those two!! Holidays..... Do you celebrate all of them?

Well, not really all holidays can I afford to celebrate but the three major ones that are not negotiable in terms of being celebrated by myself and my family members is Christmas, New year and Eastern celebration.

Nothing in this world would ever make me and my family not to celebrate Christmas, New Year and Easter as they come up in every season. They are the most important celebration in one's life and I see no reason why it shouldn't be celebrated once there is life.

I don't joke with the holiday period because it a time to get together, have fun, meet missed family members, get refreshed and have fun.

It almost like a ritual in my family we mostly meet during the Christmas period every year and it never a dull moment.Family is the ultimate

I don't celebrate all of the holidays. I like celebrating holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving as I get an opportunity to meet with my family and to have a good time. I think that Christmas is the best holiday. I have not come across someone who does not celebrate Christmas in my country. I love celebrating Halloween too. It is so much fun to decorate the house and the yard and also to make my own costumes.

Holidays were so important when I was a kid than when I am now. I don't celebrate holidays nowadays. I see them as another day to relax and even treating public holidays like weekends sometimes. Going out on a public holiday to have fun with friends will make the day special for me but it is never compulsory to celebrate holidays.

Maybe you will all think that I am crazy but I do celebrate all the holidays. These events make me feel alive and happy, so it is a big reason to make these days special for us!

It’s sad that we had no nice holidays party this year, i remember back in 2016 we had the new year eve at my friend, he has a big house out of town where we can be wild and loud all night long, they had such a crazy party next to the pool, my friend invited around 200 people !! he installed the audio and lighting equipment but they were not that good and i told him that i would use a audio visual company for your conference company like this one rather than trying to do it yourself but overall it was really nice party and i hope we could celebrate again in 2021.
