I am always attracted to eating lighter during the summer months. Eating more fruit and vegetables. Specifically eating the ones that are in season for the summer months. When drinking I like lemon or cucumber water. Cooler foods prevail when the weather is hotter. You can make ice cream and ices. You can make your own cold teas and lemonade as well. These are all things that are comforting in a warmer climate.

That's right. Fruits and cold drinks are really good during summer season.

Eating ice cream aside, I also try to eat more fruit and vegetables when they are in season. Summer months are also the time when I can eat healthy after the onslaught of holidays for feasts from Christmas to New Year to Valentine's.

Fruit during the summer months is just amazing. For us, it's always strawberries and cream which the people in the United Kingdom just love. It just tastes so nice and the cream is so refreshing especially when it is hot outside. And what could be better than having an ice cream during the hot weather as well!

"I am always attracted to eating lighter during the summer months."

I definitely agree with you on this one.

I feel that the Summer time, especially on those really hot days, is a time for eating as light as possible.

With all the stews and comfort food of the Winter months, light Summer eating is honestly a welcome change. I also enjoy a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables during the Summer.

Not to mention that with the warm weather coming back, it's a great time to break out the grill for some lean cooking outside, and avoid frying everything indoors.

I like popsicles, ice cream, and anything that will cool me off. All of these things will help in the summer to keep body temperatures to a reasonable level. It is important that you do this and it will work to give you what you want.

I don't have any particular foods or drinks during summer. We're living in a tropical country, it's normal to us. But well, I like barbecue, and the street foods here, because during summer, a lot of street foods around the corner, and for drinks, ice cold beer every after work is enough for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I'm living in a tropical country, too. So everyday food is just what we are accustomed to. However, maybe there are changes on our preference when it comes to snacks and cravings to beat the heat. Primarily, just cold snacks such as ice creams, any cold drinks and other desserts will do.And stay in an air-conditioned room. What do you like to eat or dribk during hor Summer Months?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

aeon
Well, for me, foods is doesn't matter if you stay in the air conditioned room during the summer days. what ever foods you eat is probably not applicable for you. You should try to eat the foods without or out in the air conditioned room to enjoy more. May I ask your tropical country? if you don't mind.

I'm from Philippines and it's summer here right now. It's sometimes a mood changer when you feel the heat. Just after taking a bath you'd be covered in your sweat in just seconds, imagine that. So we are really quite an avid fan of air conditioned areas. How about you, where are you from?

I don't think that the hot summer days are near yet, haha. We just had -10°C yesterday... and a lot of snow so the summer is at least a few months away.

But regardless, I usually don't eat anything heavy during summer or it makes me feel so tired and I feel without any energy. I most often love to eat light salads. The same goes for the drinks - my preferred drink would most likely just be some normal water with a few ice cubes!

Meat, junkfood and the oily food is expected to be reduced during these months. Some people can make use of the water based food. Like say salad, juice, ice cream etc. But apart from that there does not seem to be any much we can do. We can control things that may affect our health and that is pretty much about it.

Here in the Philippines halo-halo is very popular on hot summer days. It is composed of different fruits such as banana and melon. This drink is made of crushed ice which will then be mixed to the fruits and ice cream that will be placed in the halo-halo.

I have never seen halo halo. So I am going to google it. I am not sure about banana though. In that season it can be extremely weight gain with that. And even more is the issue with other items. I have found watermelon, cantalope to be good options.

During summer....well actually even winter season, I love drinking anything with shaved ice. I remember during my college days, I used to pass by 711 just to buy Slurpee. It's a shaved ice with different flavors and colors. I'll go for the largest cup enjoy while on the way home. I easily feels hot and get irritated, maybe that's why I love cold drinks. This summer, one way to cool down is to have one of those coolers.

divche26,
You just brought back some awesome memories of the summer months of my childhood! There was a little shaved ice shack near my grandparent's house that we would walk to. It was just this timy place with the names of the different syrups available hand-painted on the side of the building. Inside, you could see the syrups lined up and labeled on the shelves, and there was the ice shaver. An old man and what I think was his daughter ran the place, and we would go up to the window for this treat served in little laminated paper cones. I remember my lips and tongue would get stained depending upon the flavor I ate--thanks for this memory!

Shaved ice is a favorite for me as well...it totally reminds me of my childhood! I think that it’s such a nice light and refreshing cool treat - sometimes ice cream can feel heavy but shaved ice is so light and easy to eat even when the temperatures are soaring.

In terms of food, I am not usually a picky eater so no matter what the season is, I will eat any edible food that is available at the table. In terms of drinks during summer, I actually like any cold beverages like a soda, juice or any other drinks that freshen me up. I also like to make a halo-halo, which is composed of a mixture of crushed ice, ice cream, and fruits suchs as mango, banana, apple or any other fruit that you like to add. This drink is really delicious and satisfying, I am excited for summer because I will probably make this one.

I usually drink light cold drinks, such as iced lemonade, a cold beer or water. As for food, I don't feel like eating very much, my apettite drops during the summer, so I stick to fruits, such as watermelon, apples, oranges, bananas, sometimes I mix an icy milkshake of fruits. Also salads are a good healthy choice for the hot summer days, but once a week I feel the need to eat some meat, so I cook some grilled chicken breasts.

Ice cream! I love trying various flavors of ice cream, alone or in combination, during the summer months, although my favorite flavor is pistachio.

Shakes, fruit juices or ice cream. Anything cold to ease the heat especially if you are in a tropical country. However I don’t really eat to much during summer so I can keep my body in good shape as it is also the beach season where everyone is heading to beaches.

My fellow ice cream lover. It does the job perfectly well in cooling one's entire body system down once the ice-cream goes down one's throat, it chills off the heat that is already burning the body up to a very hot temperature. Ice cream and chilled soft drinks would do the trick 100% well in soothing body temperature in hot summer.

It is iced tea all the way for me. Ever since I was a kid my mother made sun tea and it is so simple, so cheap and so good that it just makes sense to me these days. Tea bags are about a dollar for a hundred and just throw it out in the sun for a bit and cool it in the fridge and you are good to go.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Happyflowerlady
I really like sun tea in hot weather also, and usually with just a little sweetening and somelemon or lime in it. When we have pineapple juice, I like to add that (or mango nectar) to the tea for sweetening, and this gives the tea more of an exotic flavor than just plain iced tea has.
Ice cream and other sweet drinks might taste good; but the sugar actually causes the body to heat back up; so the cooling effect can then be replaces by breaking out into a sweat on your forehead.
I also like plain lemonade in the summer, and sometimes, I make what I call “green lemonade”, by putting the chopped up lemons and some spinach or other greens in the blender and blending it until it is smooth. The greens give the lemonade a beautiful color, plus they add a lot of essential mineral that we sweat out of our body in hot weather; so it not only tastes great, but it also helps to nourish your body.

I love eating watermelon in summer as they help in quenching my thirst. I equally enjoy eating fruit salads while sitting on the soft sand at the beach watching the waves crashing. I also prepare lemonades, fresh juices, milkshakes, and smoothies during summer. I also love eating ice cream but unfortunately, I am allergic to lactose and so I can't have ice creams.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

"The hot summer months are coming" they write, as I look outside my window while the snow falls and the blisteringly cold Winter winds blow. Slow down there, cowboy, it isn't even March yet.

Haha, I'm just poking fun. Before we know it, Summer will certainly be here. When it comes to cooling down on a hot summer's day, I personally enjoy an ice-cold glass of green tea and a big slice of watermelon. I'm starting to feel a chill just thinking about them!

A lot of fruits are in season during summer so we take advantage of the cheap supply to make fruit shakes and fruit-flavored ice candies. We also love to drink ice-cold water, iced tea, and iced coffee - anything with ice actually. I live in a tropical country so cooling down with ice-cold drinks is typical. Most convenience stores offer soft ice cream in cone during the summer months so this is one of the things to look forward to for those who love ice cream.

Now that soft drinks have increased in price nowadays here in our country I won't be able to enjoy much of Coke or Pepsi. I was really into cola when I was a kid. Not until I became conscious about my health, I switched to eating plain yogurt mixed with banana or mango. Aside from it refreshes me, it is as well a good source of calcium.

The conventional ice cream would be my favorite snack for the hot summer and also chilled soft drinks. This would help me keep in check how fast my body fluids get exhausted by the awfully hot weather. The ice cream would definitely do wonders in controlling how hot my body would feel after a long hot day.

Whoa! First thing which comes into my mind is ice cream. I'm an ice cream lover and I think it is the perfect food or snacks during summer. But I want to share with you guys that I'm a Filipino and here in our country, we have this kind of summer food which is also perfect during summer and most Filipinos love it and this is "Halo-Halo". It is called as "Halo-Halo" because literally, different fruits and ingredients are all being mixed in this summer food such as monggo, banana, sago, ube halaya, langka, pinipig, kamote, crushed ice, milk, etc. and to top it all, leche flan or even ice cream are being used as its toppings.

When it comes to food I like to eat seafoods and vegetables during hot months, it cools my body temperature down. I limit my meat intake during hot months. During summer I like to eat fresh fruits such as water melon and mango because it gives refreshment to our body and having more fluids means having a cooler feeling since it is a hot season already. I also like to eat cotton fruit because it taste good and yummy, it is perfect partner for salt or soy sauce. Lastly is that I want to drink cold refreshment such as mango shake or even ice cream to have a cool feeling during the summer heat. Having cold drinks or food give our body the temperature that we need during peak season in summer time. It is great to have and surely everyone would love it and enjoy it for a longer period of time.

I'd like to believe most people are one with me during summer. When after being under the sun and feeling the hot whether. You go to the frig and get some ice cubes and open that cold bottle of Cola Coka then put them in a glass. Drink it bottoms up everything is forgotten by then.

It's summer again and the heat is on. I've started eating a lot of greens lately. Vegetables are more affordable and in abundance during the summer months. I like to feast on a variety of vegetables making it into several kinds of salads like chicken potato, cheese and chicken macaroni with lettuce, green bean salad to name a few. Eating chilled Vegetable Salads tends to cool down ones body temperature and it's also light but quite filling.

During summer or hot seasons I prefer Halo-halo which is a type of refreshment in my country in the Philippines with a combination of gulaman, nata de coo, mango and other fruits or sweeteners on it. It has an ice that gives the refreshing effect to anyone who would try to eat and drink them. It is really one of my favorite and I would love to have it over and over again. Ice cream? Yum Yum! You're making me hungry. I can't wait for summer. Though I don't live in a country that technically has a 'winter' but it has some really hot months. Temperatures are known to go to 40 degrees. You can hardly stand to wear any clothes because it's so hot. When it's really hot I like my lemon ice tea and a cold coke. I also live on fruits and Ice cream. The surprising thing about summer is you rarely feel like eating because it's so hot.

In hot days I like to drink fruit shakes all day if I have to but, what I really love to do is to eat ice cream. Icecream is the best in the world because I can eat it in any season of the year but, on summer it's perfect. Also, drinking soda is great too but it can cause some disease in our body because it's not healthy.

During summer I love to drink cold drinks and eating icecream. I love drinking cold water because its refreshing and its pure natural. Water is really convenient also even if your traveling or your going to the beach for swimming but of course there are also drinks that could really satisfy our thirst. Softdrinks are great because you can really feel it in your throat but we should not always drink softdrinks because it can damage our kidneys. Cold natural juice and shakes are also great and it is healthy so it's safe and suit for summer drinks.

I drink lot's of juices during the summer, specially water melons. When it comes to meals seafood is the best for me. During hot days a way to cope up with the heat is drinking lots of fluids just to rejuvenate water lost due to heavy perspiration. Also eating a lot of protein helps the body in producing energy lost during activities. Definitely a good cold juice and a high protein meal will keep you up in the summers.

During hot summer days, I really don't want to eat rice or heavy meat dishes during lunch. What I usually crave for is a local dish called "Lumpiang Sariwa" it's basically a fresh spring roll with an assortment of vegetables, so you might say it's a fresh veggie roll, but what's unique and gives it flavor is the sauce and the toppings. The sauce is a kind of caramel, it's sweet and made out of soysauce, brown sugar, grated or finely chopped garlic, finely chopped peanuts and cornstarch. It's thick syrupy texture is so delicious on top of the spring roll. This dish is light and so refreshingly delicious.

During hot summer days I really crave for anything that is sweet and cold but I also like to eat hot soups. Like for example I like to eat Ice Cream and chocolates but I also like to eat beef soup or pork soup. I actually find my taste buds really weird because even if it's really hot and that I should only be craving for anything cold and sweet, I also find myself eating soups that most people would think is inappropriate for the weather. Well, I guess that's just my taste buds tho. I actually like to sweat a lot during summer that's why I really like soups. I also like to try the korean ginseng soup or Samgyetang because I heard it has lots of nutrients that can help you fight the hotness of the summer.

I like to eat halo halo during summer because it is one of my favorite refreshment and it is widely available in our country in the Philippines during that season. It is a combination of fruits, gulaman, beans, corn and other ingredients with a mash ice on it. My favorite refreshment (I think most Filipinos too) is Halo-halo. It is the all-time favorite during summer season here in our country, the Philippines. Halo-halo is mixing together (which is "halo" in Filipino) ingredients like coconut strips, tapioca balls, gelatin, sweetened bananas, sweet potatoes, corn kernel, ube (purple yam), sweet white beans, pinipig (flattened immature grains of glutinous rice then roasted), sugar and lots of crushed ice then poured with evaporated milk, lastly topped with ice cream and/or leche flan (milk flan). You just halo everything in a cup or bowl, wherever you desire to put it in and WALAAHH!!! There you have it, Your own Filipino Halo-halo.

Actually, my aunt always tells me to eat avocado because one of its benefits is for skin problems and I've been dealing with skin dryness for a long time even though I drink plenty of water. You know, I don't like the taste of avocado before but when they make it a shake I realized how delicious it is and for me it has a different taste which is unusual so I learn to love it.

Now is the month of April, pretty hot weather, had been drinking barley water, iced MILO and iced lemon tea instead of carbonated drinks. However, plain water is the best to replenish the water in our body.

We're eating fish balls now as an afternoon snack, it's bought in kilos the one in the wet markets tastes fresher than the ones bought in supermarkets though. I bought 2 kilos earlier that's about 4.5 pounds of snack pleasure. It's really affordable at $1 per kilo, it's one of the cheapest snacks here that tastes really good. It looks like flat circles about 1/3 of an inch thick and you have to deep fry it and season it with a bit of salt and garlic powder or paprika and then it'll pop into balls. I made some delicious spicy sweet and sour sauce for the dip and it's so delicious. What's good about it is it's lighter than meat balls and its addictive. There's a lot of mobile pushcart like stalls here in manila selling fish balls.

The temperature is increasing now in metro manila and most people are suffering headaches because of the heat.

We're trying not to eat any rice because it makes us feel hotter. So I made a coleslaw salad and macaroni salad.

A cold iced tea during afternoon snacks is very refreshing. I also like to pair this drink with burger or pizza. These are the type of food that I would like to eat any season. I also would like them delivered as much as possible. I don't want to spend too much time outside during summer.

I love frozen yogurt in the summer! Basically anything that's cool and light is a winner in my book. I eat a ton of fresh fruit, and lots of salads as well - I don't like heating up the house using appliances to cook, so my summer eats are pretty simple and basic. I think that's a good thing though, I wouldn't really feel like a heavy warm dish in the middle of the hottest time of year!

The other day, my kids and I took a handfull of ripe green bananas and sliced it and put it in a bowl. We then added crushed ice and poured condensed milk on top and mixed it. A great way of fighting the summer heat!

I love fruit shakes, smoothies, and juices during the summer months because they're just so many fruits in the market during the season and I would hate to see the season pass without taking advantage of these seasonal perks. I love the natural smell of fruits. We always have crushed ice ready for them. Melon is just heaven and so is watermelon. That doesn't mean I'll be abstaining from my iced coffee and cola though. These warm days, even ice cold water can't quench my thirst.

I'm drinking lots of Mango and Avocado shakes daily. It's Mango and Avocado season every summer and these fresh fruits along with some milk and sugar creates a great tasting, nourishing healthy drink packed with with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that boosts energy levels.

I mainly eat plenty of fruits and vegetables - I like things that I can just cut up and enjoy without having to do any cooking that will end up heating our house more.

Smoothies and other cold refreshing beverages are also nice! My coffee is also almost always iced coffee in summer! It can be too unbearable here to start the day with a hot drink in the height of summer.

Made iced coffee for my kids today and they love it! Haha. Funny for they always thought that coffee is always served hot and they never thought that it can be served cold too. They were not so convinced at first but when they taste it, they can't help but ask for more.

In the Philippines, Halo-halo is popular especially in summer time. I love to drink fruit shakes and eat Halo-halo as it can cool my body during summer time. I also love eating fruits like watermelon, melon, and citrus fruits during this time of the year. We need this kinds of food to help our body keep hydrated to avoid heat strokes.

Today officially the summer season ended and the soaring temperature a few days ago was reversed overnight. We now have a typhoon and it's bringing in a lot of rains giving us a cool temperature which I'm very happy about. In this cool temperature my fave food are beef or chicken noodles with Chili oil, it's called "Mami" here.

What I like to eat and drink when it's summer time are different kinds of juicy fruits and smoothies. I make these at home with a juicer and blender. It's a refreshing feeling of drinking a smoothie in a really hot weather. Ice cream Is another food to take during the hot season and it really helps to feel better and not feel the humidity when eating an ice cream of your own choice of flavor.

Smoothies, halo-halo and a lot of tropical fruits. There's a lot of food to try and I can't decide what should I eat. I barely try something new so I'm always sticking to usual food that I'm eating.

I tend to go for sports drinks during summer. I know I'm sweating but not to the level of atheletes but I just find it thirst quenching in a way. Compared to water, it has flavor and I guess in a hot summer day, you'd want to drink something with flavor.

I love to eat Graham Float or Mangi Float during summer breaks. It's nice to eat something sweet, refreshing and cold! After eating my favorite dessert, I always drink coke! I love their combination. Not so healthy but, I love it.

I always eat fruit and vegetables and of course what kind of hot summer without cocktails. You know this summer was a little hard with the cocktails 'cause I wasn't able to go out. This pandemic closed everyone in the house. And, as I cannot pass my summer without a cocktail, I started to think about how to solve this problem. So I found this site https://onlinecocktailmaking.com/ where I learned how to prepare the tastier cocktails. I think that now I'm making them better than the barmen are in the bars hehe.

By 30 years of experimentation, I still realized that I like alcohol more than wine-vodka-martini-champagne, namely cocktails of different strength, only I did not know how to cook myself. Since I have long dreamed of having a cocktail party, I decided to learn. But it turns out to be very difficult. It starts with the fact that I do not have the right glasses, then there are not so many ice molds and another 10001 reasons. But not desperate, I stumbled upon https://www.lolacovington.com/10-c...vodka-cocktails/ and taking myself in hand, I was able to learn how to prepare a few simple cocktails with vodka. I think that you should not give up if something does not work out. You will definitely be able to do everything!
