What do you usually like to write about?

Hei freelancers!

I was wondering what do you usually write about? For example I like writing prose, I like creating some new characters and put them through situations that help them grow, and following their evolution through the entire book. On short terms I like coming up with stories. What's your favourite thing to write about?

I like writing poetry and sonnets too. I also write articles about food, places, and lifestyle in general.
But my favorite subject is anything that is related to Food.

That's nice. You like writing about foods. You must write a cookbook if you want to pursue writing about foods.

I have written a lot of poems and even published poetry books, however, I have not composed poems in many years. I have written a couple of recipes articles, however, this is not my forte. Well, I want to write about food because I am epicurean by nature, however, I have not explored this genre.
By the way, what kind of food articles do you write?

vinaya,
I remember seeing in another forum that you had written and published poetry books before, and I think that that is awesome. I have done the same, and I am still doing it, and it is a passion in my life. If I am not mistaken, I think you once mentioned that you also wrote a children's book, but I could be wrong. I would also love to write about food; of course, in order to do so, I would have to eat much more than I do now, and I am sure I would quickly explode into a three hundred pound blob, lol. In all seriousness, though, writing about food would be incredible, and I really love the language and vocabulary surrounding food and all of its many forms and wonders.

My first book is a poetry collection in my mother tongue. I published 500 copies and managed to sell 400 copies. That was in 2001. My second book is a collection of narrative poems and flash fictions. The book was published in 2015 on Amazon. My third book is a children storybook, also published in 2015. It is easy to publish books on Amazon. However, selling is really difficult.

For me I usually write about love stories because I want others to learn how life should be and get moral lesson about it. I want others to inspired despite of being heart broken to some relationship that no matter how hard it is life must go on. Writing love stories is one of my favorite because it makes me happy and sometimes my writings about love are based on real experiences. I want others to teach them how to be strong and to help even just in simple ways. It really inspired me a lot since writing love stories are one of my interest and hobbies.

Well love is one of the elements in my stories, however, I have never written a love story. I have written stories where the characters fall in love or desire for love, however, these stories are not about love. I like to explore human psychology in my stories.

I'm actually not a huge fan of creative writing, but poetry is something I enjoy. In particular, I really like writing haikus. There is something about the restrictive nature of the format that really brings out the creativity in me. It's fascinating how you can write a haiku that can be interpreted in a seemingly infinite number of ways, yet use so few words.

I'm also into writing articles as well. Anything concerning health, lifestyle, and spirituality are topics of interest for me.

I love poetry. There was a time when I was writing a lot of poetry. However, these days I am no longer penning poems. After I write, I need audience. sadly, there are no readers for poetry.
I love japanese style of poetry. I have written haiku, senryu, and tanka. I have even written an article on japanese poetry style. The article is published on hubpages.
I also enjoy writing stories. However, these days I am no longer writing stories. I am more focused on writing non-fiction and earning money from writing.

I'm a good writer that enjoy writing about relationship aritlces and sometimes have fun creating stories that will help others learn about events in life. One thing that I have come to notice is that you can get better as long as you do that which keeps you happy all the time.

And I think you are a good adviser also, by writing about relationship. Is there anyone from your reader asking for help, because you know, that the most common problem of the people right now, relationship.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

There are basic things that worry man and they are his health, his relationship as well as how to make money. So, when you are able to make good contents that will make people listen to you on relationship tips, then I must say that you are on the way to becoming that better person as a relationship expert. Also, the money you are going to make is huge, if you have one or two successes advising people on this.

I am not sure about relationship, however, I agree that men like to read on health and money. In fact, these are also the highest paying niches as the advettisers put more money advertising on these niches. men are always interested in making money, their desire to make money never stops. Men also care a lot of about their health.

I like writing lyric poetry. I'm a musician and I love writing songs together with making sweet melodies. I love literary writing. I like expressing myself on it using the richness and creativity of words. I love using figurative writings in the lyrics I write. I always add figurative speeches in the lyrics since it's my favorite part I love about what I write.

I like writing about prose and the story of heroes. For me, there is nothing wrong about writing anything. I write what I want and what I feel but heroes are exceptional. There must always be a hero.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah, there's nothing wrong about writing, as long as we enjoy what we are doing. And writing also is another stress reliever for some people, they write about their feelings, disappointments in life, and all the anger, and then after that, they feel alright. and what more like writing about heroes, i'm sure It's gonna be a good example for all the readers and will inspire them to the story of a heroes.

Admittedly, I've never really been all that into creative writing. Heck I don't really even read novels, except for the more popular mainstream ones that you can't really avoid. I've always been more of a non-fiction writer/reader. It sounds pretty darn pretentious, but I like to contemplate matters concerning philosophy and psychology and write down my thoughts. It's almost a form of meditation for me, because when I begin to write it helps me expand on my ideas in a way that I wouldn't normally be able to.

I started with creative writing. I wrote poems and stories in the early days. I was so passionate about creative writing that I attended a diploma course on creative writing. The course introduced me to article writing, media writing, and writing for special segments like writing for women, writing for children. Prior to attending the course I was already writing articles, however, the course taught me how to better my nonfiction writing.

I love to write the horror stories. And there seems to be a lot of good things that can come your way. You can see that some of the time it'd be not that bad to write. But horror stories have it's set of the issues on the mind. I try to write simple stories now. And hoping that would attract the people.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
As much as I love horror stories and movies alike, I haven't come up with the thoughts of actually writing any piece on the subject matter. Maybe I would consider doing so now, since I have seen a fellow writer who has an interest in such subject of horror stories. I'm definitely sure to do a reasonable work on it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have written mostly the psychological horror. Something we ourselves dealing with fear. And the issues that people have with their own mind. So that type of the horror I write. I am not into gore horror that zomby writers write these days.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jocko
Horror is definitely one of the hardest genres to write. It's mostly because it requires not only a certain eye for the perverse, but a healthy respect for timing that somehow steps outside of the standard need for tension in any given plot. I'm always interested in how fellow writers make the leap from either standard drama (whatever that is) to either horror or comedy, so come back here and tell us how you're doing when you do finally get started.

I love reading horror stories bordering suspense and science based. However, I think it's really hard to write one. It needs to be so well written that the reader will be taken to that world. I admire how you can create them and would love to read them if you ever tried to publish them.

I have yet to write much on the scifi. My preference is suspense, psychological horror. I have few friends who are into the scifi and for them it kind of easier to get into the scifi stories. I may also write on the cryptic creatures too but it'd be harder to get such writing published.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

AmieBotella
This is true. But these types of stories are the ones that has substance. Because you don't just write stuff about creatures, you make a valid research on it too to make it more attractive and close to reality as possible. Or catchy enough to attract readers. But how can you attract readers when in the first place it's hard to have it published.

You may want to chop down your stories into series maybe? and try posting the first series for free? Maybe then you'd gain an audience and loyal followers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's true. There needs to be lot of research. And also previous people who wrote about it those experience needs to be filtered before writing. When I was writing short story on skinwalker ranch and making connection with govt. research bases, I had to read a lot.

If I were a reader, I would mostly read about real life horror stories. There is this excitement, too much emotions and fear that I feel, which I really like about reading frightening stories. Zombies, vampires and even gory stories are what attract me to read the most. Horror stories have this appeal where your attention is always caught that you want to read the story until the end without taking a break.

This is a good question!

I write about social and political issues. I love sharing my thoughts about war against ISIS, ignorance of some crocs in the congress and senate, agriculture, diplomacy and our country's economy (which is not good). I have always wanted to share my argument and persuade my readers to do good deeds for our country. I want them to be literate and make wise decisions to become productive members in our society

I also write about music. I love sharing what I feel every time I listen to the songs I like. I do reviews and interpretations of the songs. Writing articles about these makes me expect to have someone who will comment with regards to my article and say we have the same points of view about the song I reviewed, which will make me really happy. Why? I don't know, For me, there is no better feeling than knowing someone who have the same odd taste in music as yours.

Just that feeling of helping and teaching people gives me so much joy and I enjoy it the most. I started writing by writing poetry. Well, I did not know I was writing poetry. I just jumbled lines on my diary and my father interpreted these as poems. My first book was a poetry collection. However, I have not written a new poem since 5 or 6 years. After my poetry was published, I began writing stories. I have two story books published on Amazon. I havce also written over 2000 articles on newspapers and online platforms.

From my experience, it is not easy to write a story. Every scenario needs to be detailed and most importantly the flow of your story. I was only in my teens that I tried to write but was not able to finish my story since it was all over the place. I wrote what I want to bring into the story and not incorporating the sole purpose of why I'm writing it. For now, I'll stick to reading.

I write novels, short stories, and doesn't matter if it's non-fiction or fiction. I mostly write about things that I encounter every day and just give some twists at the end to make it appealing for the readers. I like to write fiction stories more than anything. As a filmmaker, my stories are typically written directly into script format so they can be translated onto the screen. In particular, I like writing stories about deeply flawed individuals and how they function in the real world. Anything that can take a really dark turn, but still have a powerful meaning is really fun for me to write.

If it comes to literature, my favorite point of concentration is poetry. Currently, I have written more than 15 poems and I'm still taking it up till it's more than 40 poems, by then it would be enough to publish a full anthology of poem. Poetry takes me out of this world and it's the reason why I'm so taken by it and never get tired of reading and analyzing one.

I LOVE writing poetry, but lately, I have been leaning more towards fantasy writing. I have two major projects on the drawing board--one is about the hollow earth, and the other is about my (somewhat troubled) childhood. I have two collections of poems out on two different presses--small but respectable ones--so I am proud of that. However, I have really been wanting to branch out into prose and to really write a decent novel or longer piece. I have always been intimidated by such a project, but I think I might have enough writing experience and writing experience and education under my belt to finally do it. Still, I would have to find the time to do it, and that is a major obstacle!

I always wanted to write poetry. But my mind is more of story writer type. So never worked out for me. But I read the poetry and see the gravity with which these people write the stories. I think it's really a good experience in that case. I wish I had that knack.

overcast,
Have you ever thought about writing "narrative' poems? Then you could combine your love of poetry with your aptitude and practice of writing fiction! Check out poets like Robert Frost, Charles Bukowski, William Carlos Williams, C.K. Williams, etc. They tell "stories in poetry form"--I love poems like this and try to compose them myself quite often. It sometimes feels a bit like journaling, to a degree, but if the language and line breaks are done in certain ways, you can turn a journal entry into a great story-telling poem!

Wow, this is a great idea! I've never tried my hand at poetry, but I love Charles Bukowski's work. I do journal on a regular basis, and that would be the perfect opportunity to try and compose something poetic. I like the idea of putting my attempts in a place that nobody is supposed to to see them, and they're only for myself.

Basically I'm a non-fiction writer. I like to write about what's happening around me. I like to write about what's trending my opinion and how people are reacting. I also like to write about what's currently happening in my life or something that I have gone through. I find writing from my soul produces my best work. If I wrote fiction, it would take me a quite a while to finish the character. I don't think this kind of writing is for me.

I sometimes write about my creepy experiences to some place that I am traveling, those places that are enchanted and those enchanted entities that I see ion the ground. I like to see unusual things in this world and search for its answer and queries on why such thing is appearing to our world. My creepy stories may sound a bit scary but I think it is just natural when we are talking about ghost or enchanted elements in our surroundings. I think there are some reasons why these entities are appearing to public but not all people are given the chance to see them personalty since it is only very rare to have people with special power or skills about unexplained mysteries in this world.

I am not very creative in building up my plot in stories. So, I'm stuck in writing cliche romance stories. I am still practicing in making my stories more vivid. I also love descriptive writing a particular thing. I love describing a particular thing with beautiful big words.

Stories are the main type of piece I like writing about. I do other write ups like poems articles and quotes, but none takes my attention more than stories, short stories to be precise.

I recently got introduced to a site that accepts submissions of short stories and flash fictions, I loved it right away without much thinking. That was when I developed a new passion for flash fiction writing. So yes, I also prefer and enjoy writing flash fiction stories.

Writing about stories can sell high as long as you know what you are writing and trying to keep people keen to read your next stories. I'm not a fan of writing stories for I always prefer writing on things that will give me the chance to interact with my readers well on every article that I write. That is the reason I have to take the one of writing about finance and money related matters.

I'm not a writer and writing bores me but, sometimes, I like to write what I experience in my daily life or what I have to do so, I can remember everything. I don't have the creativity of imagining stories that I can write, or create poems or songs. I consider myself a bad writer.

But when i started writing about it and have some audience that actually liked it, i have gained lots of confidence and passion doing it. Its really good to know when lots of people appreciate what you do.

I really like writing about animes, because watching animes is one of my hobbies and I do maintain several Facebook anime streaming sites. I think I've watched more than 10000 anime episodes since I started watching decades ago. When it comes to writing about any anime series even anime news I always write with passion.

I like composing lyrics that is related to my experiences. It inspires me to write lyrics when I am deeply emotional. Sometimes I create fictional stories that also relates to my life especially when it comes to love or heartbroken. Sometimes I also compose poem although I don't really know how to compose a poem but I am trying my best as I can.

edencaga,
I think that we all love to write lyrics and prose about our personal experiences--you are the "expert" of your own life, of course, so this might be the content that you are the closest too. I find that, when I write about myself and my experiences, that I tend to self-mythologize a lot and tend to make myself a bit bigger on the page than I am in real life, so I always have to edit and police myself a bit for that. however, when i am just writing fiction, I can be as bombastic as I want!

Yes, this is true. The only person who knows our life is our ownselves. Sometimes we exaggerated our stories just to make it more deep and influence powerful emotions to others. That was I noticed in films, whenever they write about plot and script, they over exaggerated it but making sure of it still connects to the main story or issue.

That is wonderful. It takes courage to be able to put your life experiences into something that you can share to people like the lyrics of a song.

I love to write novels. I actually made one during my freshmen year in college but it wasn't very good so I decided to revise it, however I'm still not done with it and I'm now in my senior year lol. I love to write novels because it excites me. I actually like to imagine things and every time my imaginations bump in to something very creative I write it and try to expand it by writing it in to a novel. However, until now I'm still unable to publish anything. Hopefully when I graduate I'd be able to publish something. I guess I'd be happy enough if I can publish one even just on Wattpad.

I like to write about personal experience. Sometimes just doing some free writing keeps us emotionally prepared for tough days ahead. It also keeps us aware of our everyday decisions. It lets us reflect on our immediate actions instead of simply forgetting them.

That makes the two of us. I also like writing about personal experiences. Most people never talk about their personal experiences or how to move one from the bad ones. I just like writing about things especially experiences that people rarely talk about.

I have written different types of articles for different niches in the past. I haven't really focused on one niche to be sure which is my favorite.

I always like to write a story about someone's life or maybe write about myself. Not necessarily guess work but a true based story. I really would want to write an inspiring story.

I like to write stories and I am currently making a blog about my own life story, learning and experiences for the past 27 years and I am happy to share my story to help others. Maybe they can relate themselves in my story and will promote a good contribution to their lives. I used my skills like painting and what I learned from reading books to share information about health related advice and art guides and even personal problem solving or stress management. My experiences is the guide and it helps me a lot to become what I am today, even not becoming rich but becoming a real man who can manage himself in any situations or problem. I just publish 5 pages as of now and I am working out to make another one till the end of my life.

I do some freelance travel writing, so I think I'd say that I like writing about travel best. Showing off places to see and things to do across the globe, and knowing that someone else will also enjoy those spots is really something that I enjoy!

I also enjoy writing about the history and culture of places I visit, and delving into that side of things.

I also write about random stuff. It's because some of my writing jobs require me to write about topics that the client demands or needs. I will have to do some research about it if I don't have any idea about it. This type of writing is also fun because every day I got to learn a lot of new things that I know nothing about.

I can't call myself as a writer yet because I haven't published any books, and articles but given a chance I'll probably right about life in general. I'm interested writing about our experiences from heartaches, the struggles of being alive, our happiness and mistakes so basically all about people's lives. I want to impart my experiences and others' experiences to people because I might be able to help them in little ways.

I want to be an inspirational or motivational writer same as I want to be an inspirational speaker.

If given a chance to choose a topic to write, I would always go for parenting or D.I.Y.'s. These are the topics that I think I would be able to discuss more since I can relate mostly about it. Parenting is a topic that I enjoy both reading and writing. Reading gives me an idea of how to be a parent while writing what I know gives me the chance to share my experiences. As for D.I.Y.'s, it is something that I enjoy doing whenever I have a free time to sit and use my hand for crafts. And when people appreciate what I have done, it make me happy. So sharing what I love is not a hard topic to write about.

Just like you, I oftenly write unique characters that have a tragic background story so that I can give an emphasis in their development as time goes by; I always make a downing scenery that seems hopeless and in the conclusion part I often write about the realization of the characters at something that allows them to get pass through into the obstacle that's been hindering them in completing their task. I enjoy writing especially the part when the protagonist in my story do learn of how toseize the light. In the end I always make a valuable lessons in life that we can use even in our real life.
