I am toying with an idea about starting a dropshipping business since some time. I know how this business model works. I can even set up a dropship store myself. However, my problem is finding the right dropshipping suppliers.
There are numerous dropshipping providers like Aliexpress and Alibaba it is own by Chinese many dropshipper use this as the supplier of their shopify shop. But keep in mind that dropshipping is not easy as you think because as a dropshipper you havent physically have what you offered on the store, in my opinion you need to carefully pick the best item to offer to the store, it is the most important potential chance for disputes and client experience for goods satisfactory.

Alibaba is B2B company, you cannot buy a singe unit. Therefore, I believe we cannot used this company for dropshipping, I have checked Aliexpress, the price is still high. If the price is already high, it will be difficult to sell it after adding your commission. I have been referred to aliexpress by many people, however, I don't find Alixpress to be a suitable supplier.
You're correct on that Alibaba only deals in bulk orders. The best way is to tap it's sister company AliExpress which sells single items or non bulk items. It's the platform with the cheapest prices. A lot of products posted in eBay and other selling platforms came from this site.
Aliexpress sells at a cheaper rate and I think it will be good to start with them but 1988 sells at cheaper rate than Ali but they don't ship out of China therefore you need someone to get the good supplied to them so they can help you ship it internationally.
Aliexpress is more common and might be reliable as such. I think it is the best option for anyone looking to dropship commodities. In my country, I know several people that have used the platform and it has worked out pretty well for them and their businesses.
I am not sure whether Aliexpress can be a good dropship supplier. I have checked the products on Aliexpress and they are quite expensive. While doing dropship you will have to add your commission while listing the product on your store. When the product is already expensive, selling will become difficult.
Working with Alibaba, Lazada or other related shopping flatforms, I think dropshipping is the best choice. you would do better if you apply for their affiliate programs. It is much more hassle free since you won't have to worry about the stocks of the item and its delivery. All you have to do is to advertise the products the same way you would in dropshipping. But transactions would be done (for example) by Lazada. The compensation on the other hand is more or less the same.
Affiliate marketing can be a better option because you do not have to work hard to build credibility of your store, you also do not have to go through the hassle of taking orders, forwarding orders, paying to the dropship supplier etc. One main problem with dropshipping is updating the product. The product you have listed on your website should also be in dropshipper stock.
I believe Aliexpress is the best platform for this. However, I'm not sure if it is also possible with Alibaba. Most suppliers out there have an MOQ of 100, but I see one or two who do offer below 10. I'm sure with proper inquiry and negotiations. Anything can be arranged. Best to use Google translate if ever you need to speak in Chinese although most of the ones I encountered speak good English. You are right about Alibaba. Alibaba is basically a B2B marketplace. If we are doing dropshipping, we are selling in units, however, on Alibaba you have to purchase in volume. You can buy a unit only when it involves a lot of money, for instance a machinery, an automobile etc. For items like clothing you need to buy a lot of quantity, therefore, not possible to do dropship with alibaba.
Aliexpress is another option. But you should make sure to check out if there are legit suppliers. The reason being some of the suppliers are not going to be good. And you may end up losing money. So it can be other thing to check out as well.
I have never bought anything on Aliexpress. I have used ebay and on ebay if the seller cheats you you can file a dispute and get 100 percent refund. The best thing about ebay is the paypal payment that give buyer protection. It is difficult to find sellers accepting paypal on aliexpress. If you want to use aliexpress and receive buyer's protection, you will have to use alipay, a payment similar to paypal that gives buyer protection.
I do agree that most suppliers in Alibaba sell in volume. But as I said, I encountered a few who has an MOQ (minimum order quantity) of 1. Of course, the prices may be higher with that quantity. Alibaba is evolving, and it's not strictly a marketplace anymore for private label sellers.
Generally speaking, if the product is expensive , minimum order quantity is just one unit. For instance, if you are buying machinery, automobiles, (expensive items) you can buy one unit. However, if the product you are buying is lowly priced (t shirt for instance), you will have to buy in volume. If you are intending to acquire product that cost around $10-$20 per unit, you will have to buy in volume from Alibaba.
Drop shipping is a good business. Any business has its challenges and so dropshipping has too. Learn to tackle them.

Same for me as well. I really wanted to try dropshipping and start this business as soon as possible but I am still exploring and research some of effective methods. Yeah that's also my problem, finding a right supplier. Since some of the comments here said that aliexpress or alibaba are one of those, I still have to find or seek first some information about this supplier and how dropshipping works.
Ensure that you are using some backup from the owners of the site when you are buying things as this is one of the ways that you are going to get things right. I think that the best thing that you should focus is to do better research before making the final decision on that.
Every time I search on YouTube about dropshipping, most of the tutorials talk about doing dropshipping with aliexpress. While there are some who do dropshipping with ebay. I think one of the good thing about dropshipping with aliexpress is that there's a plugin that can automatically integrate products from aliexpress website to your online store.
I have read wordpress plugins that automatically imports product listing from Aliexpress to your drop ship website. The plugins even claim that when the product is no longer available on the Aliepress, it also automatically removes from your website. However, these plugins have subscription fees and if your business does not generate sale,s you might be just increasing your monthly expenses.
If you are on shopify there are many plugins that you can use. You can also use the famous Oberlo plugin that can help with the database search. Also you can find some really good dropshippers who can do the white label for the products. I have tried to make use of the oberlo for clients while searching for some of the dropshipping companies and sellers on the aliexpress. That works out just fine.
Shopify is an expensive option. You not only have to pay for shopify buts also the add ons. If you want to create a shopify store, you must be ready to spend at least $500. Unless you are planning really big, if might be difficult to recover your investment. I have heard about Oberlo, a plugin that helps you to import aliexpress products automatically. If you know about this plugin, any information on this will be much appreciated.
You know what, I have the same idea too. Glad that I've come across this thread to learn something. Compared to retailing, dropshipping is better and less hassle. I want to try Aliexpress but I'm still hesitating.

What I do most of the time is ask shops online where there are products that I intend to sell if they do drop shipping. I think drop shipping is becoming common for these shops. It helps both the online business as well as the person who wants to start doing business.
You should study first every possible partner you would want to work with. As the others said, Aliexpress would be the best option as it can offer you better opportunities. But you should also consider other companies. I suggest that you should talk and learn from them first so that you can properly plan you business. That's a good idea of business by the way. It has a lot of opportunities.
The big names I always seem to hear about are AliExpress, SaleHoo, and Doba. I’d recommend researching some of those to see if they offer what you need from them!

Aliexpress is one of the companies that I think would be a good source for supplies. I also think there are many companies in China that would be good partners for a dropshipping business. They specialize in manufacturing and exporting products to other countries. You just have to check out for the products' quality.
Chinese products have a bad name in the market. Therefore, it might be risky to dropship from Aliexpress. It is true that you can find anything on Aliexpress, however, once the customers find that you will be sending Chinese products, they may not buy again. In order to survive, your one time customers must be returning customers and this is difficult to achieve unless you are selling quality products.
Join Oberlo. They have a lot of information on how to start a dropshipping business. They also offer tips e.g how to research your niche. I think that this matters and it may determine whether your drop shipping shop will be successful or not. Oberlo also has a list of suppliers which they recommend. I think when you are first starting out it is important to have guidance. You can decide latter to change suppliers when you are familiar with the industry.
I have not tried Oberlo, however, I have read about this. It is available as a wordpress plugin which can automate your dropshipping business. By using this plugin, you will be able to import aliexpress product details on your site. When the product is removed from Aliexpress, the plugin also automatically removes products from your website. However, this is a paid plugin and I am afraid to try it before hearing positive reviews from a person I can trust.
I have many friends in Facebook who are into drop shipping. From the looks of it that they have been posting for years about the products they are selling, I am getting interested. But my target is the local clients that live in my region so there will be no problem with the delivery. I have already inquired with one friend and she was offering her help to connect me to her suppliers. The products I have in mind are personal accessories and household items that are small and not electronic.
