Do cats and dogs always fight?

Some years back, we had a dog and cat and they were always fighting. Though I have heard from friends this is not usually the situation. Do your dog and cat fight? And, what can be done to ensure pet harmony?

Most animals are compatible and will get along so long as they are raised together and you give both equal attention.

I am sure that if they get used to each other they will be just fine. If not then just separate them.

I think that if they grow up together they can co exist. I would not be able to bring a dog into my house with 8 cats as I am sure that it would be a total disaster.

Did they grow up together ? That's probably why they love each other so much and even fight as siblings do. Do cats and dogs always fight?

Exactly. Pets are like siblings. They can love each other and hate eachother all in the same day.

It's a myth that animals of a different species will always fight. In fact, they are likely to get along better than with their own kind. This is especially true of cats who are very territorial and not cooperative with other cats.

Not necessarily. I've had cats and dogs and they usually get a long well, or just ignore each other. I've seen many videos on the internet of dogs having a good relationship with cats. Some stray dogs don't even bother about chasing cats, so I guess it depends on how the dog was raised or it can as well be a matter of getting used to be around cats.

As much as I would want to laugh at this your post question, I would try as much as possible to control myself. I think it's a natural thing for cats and dogs to fight, they are by nature two different animal species looking to share man's attention in getting them as pets. So should they both find themselves competing under one roof, there is definitely the tendency of fight erupting between them.

There is this say my mother used to address to my siblings and myself when we fight over stupid things, she would say ; instead of you guys living and staying in harmony, you would be more comfortable fighting like cats and dogs. So this means that it's not today that the competition started between cats and dogs.

Actually it depends, I was a kid back then when i was first introduce to our first pet which is a cat and the dog came along. I often saw them sleeping together, It's really cute to watch them since they get a long pretty well.

Others says that cats and dogs are mortal enemies. Even in cartoon characters, these both animals always find a way to fight back with each other. But some of the times, they have bonding moments. It is so cute to see if you have a cat and a dog in the house that love each other. Because it is not common to see a dog taking care a cat and vice versa. Maybe it depends on how the owners raise the pets.

Not if they grow together, and I can certify it. My grandma used to have dogs and cats in her house, and they were living peacefully between them. The only issue was that sometimes, they stole each other's food and water, so we have to be careful when they were eating, and not let them have food all day where they could reach it, only when they have to eat. So, you can have both, if you keep them together since they are puppies.

I agree that it's just like the siblings thing where they hate each other and the next day they do love one another. And it probably applies on the growing up together factor as well, like they would know their importance in each of their life once they grow and live life together.

Exactly, is just like that. In fact, sometimes, you could see dogs and cats sleeping together or even eating together. The main factor is to try to get them while they're puppies, so that way they don't reject the other. Not an easy task, I certified it, but not impossible either.

Actually, it depends on the situation, I have a dog and a cat and they love each other, sometimes they ear or play together, but my dog hates the stranger cats.
