Dogs running free

If you were to go camping, would you allow your dog to run free? We were camping this weekend and a dog was roaming around our site, snarling at us. We were afraid that he was going to bite someone. The owner did not act at all concerned when we found him. Would you allow your dog to run free, even if the campsite rules said that all pets must be on a leash.

NO! I don't have a dog, however... I can't stand owners who fail to put their dog on a leash. Especially when I have my son with me. People don't seem to understand why they need to do this simple task. My child on a few occasions has almost got run over by running dogs, not on leashes... We weren't in a dog park, I might add. Just the other day we had Colbie at a near by walking park, and there where signs CLEARLY stating "All dogs must be on leash." Guess what? There was a big, and I mean BIG dog running around the park... Without... A.... Leash...

Major pet peeve, and the thing is... I love dogs! But if I don't know them, how am I going to know how the dog is. Am I suppose to put my complete trust in the owner? I think not... They need to be restrained by their owner, so they can maintain control of their pet, or take them to a dog park where they can run around without a leash.

I don't have a dog now for many years. But, if we had a dog, I would love to go away some place very private with lots of woods, not a camp site where our dog could go and roam and never encounter humans. This is not possible in any area near human civilization though. Most likely it would be somewhere in the country or mountains.

Pets need to be on leashes I feel. If they are around humans then they need to be leashed up.

And there are laws that mandate an animal be put on a leash when outdoors. The owner of the dog could be held criminally or civilly liable if the dog bit or injured someone.

Pets need to be leashed. What happens in the dog bites someone? Or hurts someone? People need to be responsible for their pets.

You could get sued in a court or brought up on criminal charges if your dog bit someone. This is especially true if the person injured by the dog is a child.

When a dog gets outside it's own yard, it is likely to be just as territorial and possibly attack other people or pets that it would consider to be a threat. Letting your pet run around without a leash in public is just asking for trouble.

I don't think it is the best idea unless your dog is trained to follow orders without issues. If the dog doesn't have any training it could cause an accident, bite someone, get into a fight with another dog/cat/other animals. If the dog doesn't know how to behave without a leash it is better to not let it run free.

I really wouldn't be allowing my dog to roam freely about during a camping trip, it's not wise in my point of view. Anything could go wrong and you will have yourself to blame for not taking caution with allowing the dog free movement.

Anything can happen on a camping trip, the dog might get lost, got stolen by some people, having an accident, fall inside a ditch etc. Any of these things could just as about very easily happen to a dog during camping trip. So people should be weary for their pets during camping.

I've got dogs and I do allow them to roam freely in my property. But if I have to take them somewhere public then they're always on a leash, so that they won't be a threat to other people and animals.
