Do you prefer free books?

I love to read on my kindle and would rather have free books than to have to pay for books. What do you usually do when you get books for your kindle? Pay or do you get free ones?

The free ebooks on Kindle are really nice to find. Do you have a list of these ebooks you can share?

I would love to pick up a few for myself. Do you prefer free books?

I don't mind reading a free chapter on Kindle ebooks if it tells me more about a book. After reading the free chapter I might just buy the book if it's good enough.

I love reading classic books. And, the best place to find any book that is classic is Gutenberg. You can find that website online.

People love anything free. As long as the book is interesting and it's free I would definitely read it.

I do. I joined giveaways to get free books. Authors give ARC materials to check if the book is advisable to others.

I'd be hypocrite if I say no. I love free books but in my good conscience, I prefer buying books from bookstores to give back to the genius of authors, the sweat and blood they've invested.

Of course! That is free and you can enjoy the book. You can also get free books to a book club or a book community.

I read free books. When I see free books on Amazon, I will get it for my Kindle. However, I will not download all kind of free books, I will download the free book only when I am genuinely interested in the topic. Normally, I download non-fiction books. I like to read non-fictions and enrich my knowledge. Well, I also want to brush my writing craft by reading fictions however, I will prefer to get ebooks from an established author, instead of from a newbie writer. If you want to get a book from an established writer, you will always have to pay money. Everything that comes for free does not mean it will be useful.

I have been getting lots of free ebooks and I must say that many of them have added so much knowledge to what I already knew before getting them to read. Books such as 48 laws of Power and Act of Seduction by Robert Greene comes to mind. I also read Rich Dad Poor Dad last few weeks and I have learnt so much from them.

I prefer paid books mostly. Because the quality of content with the free has gone down. And the amount of people spamming through that makes it better to make use of the paid books more. I personally think that things should be paid. And people can earn some good money through that. If possible people should be more focused on free content only if there is no money for them to earn. Then the free things are worth it. Otherwise it is always better to get the paid books.

A free book does not mean the content is crappy. A lot of good writers offer free ebooks. Giving away ebooks for free is also one of the promotional tactics. When I published on Amazon Kindle, I also gave my ebook free for a week. This was to encourage people to download the book, read it and then give the author favor by reviewing it. This is still one of the promotional methods for ebook.

I think on Amazon kindle, lot of free books are poor quality. I am not saying every ebook is of that quality. But the way content is being presented for free. It seems like it is not worth it. I personally think that people should be buying something that has some level of professionalism and reputation. Lot of books are really bad. I am not referring to the grammar mistakes but overall content and output.

Most of the free books on Amazon are from new authors. In fact, when you see free ebook anywhere, these are usually from the first-time author. Since many authors hurry to get their work published, these books do not have quality.
However, you can also get free ebooks from professional writers. These writers are paid by the companies and companies offer these books as free as a promotional offer. I have subscribed to hubspot marketing and Freelance writing newsletter. I regularly receive high-quality ebooks for free.

I think lot of them are from bloggers on "make money online" topics. And there seems to be a lot of spam. And that is what makes the quality low. Apart from that I guess everything looks good. Even fiction has those issues. But quality wise these are not that bad. So I am fine with those books.

When I see free books on Amazon, I don't download immediately. I check the reviews. If there are not any, I will never download this free book. Unless the free book is from someone I know, even virtually, or have a lot of reviews, I will never get free books for Amazon.
However, I always download free books that I receive from the big companies such as Hubspot or Freelance writing.

I think reviews can be shady. I mean there are plenty of facebook and whatsapp groups with the review swapping guides. You can see that it can be really bad to make use of the review swaps. It is not good though. But many people reached the top position through that. I wonder what made them that bad amazon didn't even detect them as of yet,

That's true. I have written reviews for money. Since I was paid, I wrote a five-star review. While writing the review, I even did not read the entire book. If someone follows the review I wrote and buys the book, he might be disappointed. Reviews are not reliable. Maybe we should look at the sales figure. Top grossing books means people are liking that book. We can take this as a cue.
The best way to find a good book is to ask for a recommendation. If a person you know recommends the book, then you can go by word of mouth.

Yes that seems to be the problem. And that's one more reason buying some ebooks can be hard. And selling them is easy with those reviews for many. I'd say it all depends on reviews on other sites now. I don't trust amazon reviews.

I go for whichever I feel like reading both paid and free.I mostly go for the paid ones.Authors put so much in the paid books than the free ones.So if it a book I need knowledge of things I would rather buy the paid ones.

There are two kind of free books: today's Ebooks which are worthless and old public domain ones. I prefer the last ones more then free Ebooks or paying ones.

I don't think there is anybody who would pay for books rather than choosing the free books. Of course, I choose to read the free books and when I need to read a special book for my assignments I go to the library and rent a book for free for a few days.

There are some books which were being sold at very high prices in my country and I was able to read those books for free online. I also bought many books which were sold at discounted prices online.

Of course everybody likes what it comes for free, but when we're talking about books, and if you're a book lover like me, then you see the buying as an investment. Obviously, I don't buy all the books I see around, I'm kind of selective about them. I had to buy lots of books while I was in college, then I had to sell them to buy new ones, and some just stay still with me. Usually I buy the ones that are written by the authors I like, or the ones that are considered classics, or some that I've taken borrowed, and ended up loving them.

Most books I own have been purchased. I only get to enjoy free books when I visit the library. I never used to be a reader and that is something I am adjusting to now. I might start enjoying free books in the future when reading becomes a hobby.

Who doesn't want free books right?, but for me if you would ask me I might have to say yes and no, like it really depends on the situation. The situations I'm talking about is like for example when my favorite book is there but I need to pay for me to read the whole book itself, so the solution or the only thing you need to do to have it is to pay for it. And lastly the difference between having a good story but you need to pay versus the bad story but you can read it for free.
