Do people still buy and sell art online

Hey guys today i woke up wondering whether people still make art and sell it online. Also do people really buy art from artist that are not as well established as some? I just think it would be a tough industry to get into especially if nobody knew who you where. When i first started working for this company SPC a guy who did programming also sold art online. Now he said he didn't sell much but his daughter sold many pieces all the time. I know marketing helps and talent helps but it just seems like a dying thing. Years have passed since i spoke with this guy about it and i was wondering if it was still a popular thing to do. Has the digital age phased out normal paintings and art work? Do people only use computers for art? if you guys have any experience or if you are wondering the same thing p[lease i would love to hear your story.

hmm, interesting...you can really do anything on a computer now with a dedicated program.

i am not huge into art and dont really know much about it (like paintings and sculptures) but i would have to assume that their is a large number of people that like old painted art or sculptures and will still buy that kind of art. it may have been less popular, but think about it, all these celebrities you used to see on MTV Cribs had lots of things like that in their mansions!!

Like I said before though, I am not a professional or have any background in that kind of art. Just giving my assumption!

Well i appreciate your feedback for sure! Yes all these celebrities have so many paintings probably worth millions. I know for a fact Rapper Lil Wayne had tens of millions of dollars worth of art in his home in Miami. They raided his house for back taxes and they took all his art. The thing is im almost one hundred percent sure that Wayne went to a art gallery or art auction to acquire these works of art. These are established artist who people already know and are world famous. What i wonder is if people like you or me still make a living selling paintings from home. Thanks for sharing!

Jkeyz2 I have never bought art before but I am planning to one day when I buy my own home.

You know for me it is not about the name of the artist or how famous they are. It is not about buying it online or offline... if I see something beautiful I will want it.

A hand painted canvas would seriously be appealing to me. I have seen some stunning oil paintings before and I would love to fill my home with things like this.

I don't know art like some people do. I don't know what all the different styles are, what they mean or anything arty educated like that.

I know what I like when I see it and it is as simple as that. Surely there will be lots of other people that feel the same way?

Yes i agree buying art is all about eye! It could be a nobody painting in the house but if it looks good ill buy it. I just wonder if people are still making livings doing this at home. If they are what are they using? Old traditional canvas and paint? Or are they using a design program to make master pieces? Having one of a kind paintings in your home makes the house more warm feeling. The more you have on your walls the more at home you feel. I say go for it Lynne, buy a few and see how it goes. My question to you is where will you look for this art? Will you look locally or will you shop online? Thanks for sharing!

If it's digital arts then yes. Since the world is evolving, the arts is evolving too! It starts from canvas, papers, tarpaulins, poster and now, it can be digitized! If you want to buy arts online, you can hire freelancers to make an art for you or try search in google the different art online store that are available.

I was looking on eBay the other day and I discovered that selling art online is quite a big business. I found a section where guys are bidding to buy artwork and paintings. I was very impressed I even did put a bid but I was not lucky to win the bid.

Yes, there are still artists who sell online and I am one of the spectators. There are also people who still walk around the streets and sell their arts. It is common here in Manila, Philippines. I would really love to buy but then I am not yet stable. I would love to help them, too. They are still striving to promote their talent and be determined that it still exist.

Yes of course I believe some people do still buy and sell arts online. The truth of the matter is that there are set of people who virtually do almost of their business transactions through online medium. They buy and sell almost everything that they have through online marketing platform.

Examples of these online marketing platforms functional in Nigeria is Jiji, Konga, Ali express, Jumia, Olx etc. Through all these online market, one could be able to carry out virtually all his business transactions as some of them even allow you the opportunity to market your own product and sell even without charging you for any commission.

Having said this, I also believe that some still buy arts online, it might be in form of painting, drawing, artefacts, sculpture works etc. But personally, as much as I do something of my business dealings online, but there are some certain items that I honestly can't buy online and arts is one of them. The reason for my decision against buying pieces of arts online is that there is high tendency of buying fake art items or duplicates thinking you actually bought the real one.

Yes some are selling their creations online and you will see some websites where in their are lots of posted for sale arts. Selling or buying online is an easy way nowadays and less hustle but there are some disadvantages, it is the copyright of your design. You should not expose them regularly because some are just copying your design to re sell it to others.

I think that selling arts online works mostly for popular artists. I have a friend who is an artist and she has tried to sell her arts online with no success. She has been more successful selling her arts offline. However, I can see some popular artists who have been really successful online and have their own sites. I think it also depends on the style of arts. I can see many people are now interested in contemporary art.

I know there is a big business regarding selling art online, a friend of mine always bought paintings from online art stores. I don't know anyone who sells art items but I am sure they make a huge profit from this.
Sometimes we can find valuable items on the Internet at a cheaper price as the art store sells them.

Yes, i still sell online. But it doesn't stop there. I also have a physical shop which i can showcase my crafts. I use both platforms to increase profit. I have around 3 online shops that's active and doing great. Although sales will not be stable online, i can still earn thru my physical shop.

Yes, they still do. It's part of modern life to make transactions online. I'd like to think that with any dedicated artist, they all have a chance for something great. They simply have to persevere and let inspiration guide them.

Scams in auctions' sphere are very common problem. There are a lot of cases than people lost thousands dollars. I also have failed one time, after it I always researched reviews about services where I would like to invest money, especially if I want to get something antique. These itmes are very rare and cost a lot of money. I recommend you to pay attention on auction house. There are represented very valuable paintings and items from whole world. Be careful with your money, always check everything twice
