Another night on the town! Is your drink watered down?

Going out this Friday or Saturday night? Do you buy drinks at the bar? Today im going to reveal a secret that bartenders use to keep the profit margin high. You would think that every drink your purchased would be the same rite? Wrong! Even if you purchase the same drink multiple times it will start to get watered down, why? Bars, Pubs, and clubs all have to follow certain rules it varies from state to state. In Connecticut a person cant have to many drinks to fast and a bartender is actually obligated to space the drinks out. Does this always happen? Probably not but here is how they get around the law. By the 3rd time you ordered your drink your already feeling good and probably didn't realize that is was watered down a little more than the first two. Are shot drinkers safe from this watered down trick? Yes they are but they use another trick to up the profit margin. At first the bartender will give you a shot glass that looks like this:

Normal shot glass rite? Now your a few shots in and the bartender gives you a shot glass that looks a little different more like this below:

The second glass is designed to hold less liqueur than the first but look almost the same. Lets be honest after 2-3 shots your not even thinking about the fact that your getting jipped about 20% and your still paying the same $9 for the shot. This is so common behind the bar that you wouldn't believe me if i said every bar does this. What do you guys think? is this true or am i just being paranoid? Next time your at the bar pay attention.

As always thank you for reading please don't forget to follow me.

Oh that is hectic. I don't think that is done here in South Africa since I have worked in loads of bars and never ever come across this being done.

I haven't had a drink or been in a bar for over 8 years now so perhaps this has changed...

They have been doing this here in the United States for Ions. Its probably better we don't go to bars. I have not been to a bar in over 3 years now but im sure they have not changed. Do the bars in South Africa cut you off if you have had to many to drink? The rules and regulations here for public intoxication and drinking and driving are really high. In some states your first offense driving while intoxicated you get an automatic 6 months in jail. Its a good thing and i like the strict rules behind this. This will keep people from killing others when driving drunk. Maybe a 6 month jail sentence and a hefty fine will make them think twice about driving while drunk. Thanks for sharing Lynne

I have a few friends that work behind the bar yes. One of them is Sue you know her she use to be a bartender down at the bootstrap down in Gorham. The other one i know works at Koo in Danbury, CT, they have both told me stories about the tricks of the trade. Actually the girl who works at Koo told me that people who order top shelf liqueur in their drinks only get 1 or 2 drinks with that high quality liqueur in it. After that they put bottom shelf alcohol into your drink and more ice so you don't notice a difference. You will notice if you go to a bar and ask for no ice the bartender will give you a look. Ice is the #1 money maker in bars and clubs, they water it down to make the Alcohol last longer. One night a average $40 bottle will make well over $200 back. Thanks for reading!

Hahaha! Nice one. You're thinking that you're a heavy drinker since you can take a lot of shot but on the other hand, they're tricking already by getting the same amount as before without you noticing it. Thanks for revealing this trick to us. Another night on the town! Is your drink watered down?

This sounds crazy, well, there are into business and they must make their money by hook or by crook.I used to say this, in every business, there's always a trick or two to make more money. It left for people to discover it and work against it or else you continue to be decieved.

Now I know why some shot glasses looks different. It's all profit for bars and pubs. I used to frequent bars and clubs when I was in my 20's up until my mid 30's but nowadays I still go occasionally with my friends. But we don't order shots or mixes, we bring a bottle and pay for corkage or we just buy a bottle in the bar and sodas and mix our own drinks.

Most often I gather with friends at home. I like the homely atmosphere much more, besides, I have a good bar and the evening will definitely not be boring. I found a good liquor delivery here, they make sure my bar is always stocked with quality alcohol
