DIY Wood Slice Photo Transfer Project

I just come across this DIY Wood Slice Photo Transfer and think it's awesome! What an amazing gift this would make to give someone, or even for yourself maybe?


It's a photo, in a piece of wood! Genius!

Now to make this, you'll need to find a slice of wood somewhere. I wouldn't recommend cutting a tree down just for it! Have a mooch around your local woods or even the beach perhaps. Sometimes drift wood like this shows up when the tied goes out. Although you may need to trim it down. You could also visit your local lumber yard and see if they have something like this, some end cut you can have or pay for.

You'll also need some Silhouette tattoo paper and an inkjet printer. And of course, the right photo just for it! Once you've got everything you need you can start making it.

You have to print off your photo on the tattoo paper and I recommend you check your printers instructions for the type of paper you're using. But the process is relatively simple and easy to follow steps.

A friend of mine shared a video about this on Facebook and I remember viewing it and thinking how amazing it looked doing something like this. Again doing something like this is very unique and because it is something you take time to do yourself it also comes from the heart and feels a lot more personal than a store bought gift, plus you don't really need a special occasion to create any kind of photo transfer, you can just simply create one for the sake of it and gift it.

I love this idea and would love to give it a try at some point.

Quite an original idea and seems quite easy to create for those who have some element of creativity in them. Those wood slices could be got from wood depots where they have logs of wood. Using a machine saw they can slice the wood to whatever thickness one desires.
I have used such slices to make dry flower arrangements with that as the base

I have seen this kind of picture before; but I have never tried making one. Before they came out with the idea of printing out the picture, you needed to glue the picture onto the wood backing, and then polyurethane was put over top of the whole thing so that the picture would last and it could even be wiped off to clean it once the polyurethane was on there to protect it. Sometimes people used several different pictures and fitted them all together to make kind of a scene on top of the wood base. They had special glues and polyurethane that you were supposed to use when your were going to decoupage a picture like this.

Oh this is great! I love craft projects and am always on a lookout for something new and different to try, especially something that would make great presents for others as this would definitely do. I've hadn't seen anything quite like this yet. It sounds fairly easy, and fairly cheap... which also lends to it making presents for the holidays. Around Christmas time you can often collect tree cuts from the tree stands that sell Christmas trees. They often cut off a chunk of the bottom of the trunk so that it's fresh for the buyer. Usually if you ask kindly, they don't have a problem with you collecting a handful. We've used them in the past to burn in our fireplace because it gives that lovely fir tree smell. We've also used some of them for coasters because they are about the right size and have a nice natural look. Now I'm thinking they might also work rather well for this project! I'm going to save the directions onto my computer so I can try this out come this year holiday gift giving season.

There are very amazing D.I.Y ideas of wood photo transfer that I have seen on Pinterest that you can use by converting scrap wood into amazing works of art. I plan to use some of the ideas as gifts Christmas gifts for my family.

I would have love to do this project and hang this all over our house. This is such a nice cool project and it's easy to do. I hope I can make this for the upcoming holidays and give some of these as holiday gifts also. thanks for reminding me of this project and thanks for sharing!

I've seen this kind of method on youtube but the one that I've seen is not as clear and good as this. I guess it'll depend on the paper and ink that you'll have to use. This is a good present, especially for this coming Christmas. Thanks for sharing this method.

This is truly an amazing and definitely wonderful piece of art, this idea fits on what can you use alternatively for a frame. This is actually a great used for a wood which are freshly cut or the one where you can find on a mountain just laying on the ground. And also, these are a great gift you can give to someone who's addicted to living with the nature or more like a nature lover person and you can put picture of himself or his family on the wood. This is totally awesome.

I have made many D.I.Y projects in the past but never made something creative like this. The wood slices are actually sold in some shops over here. Some of my friends really love personalized gifts and they will be elated if I give them such an amazing gift. This is something relatively easy to make. I will try to look for other creative ideas on Pinterest.

Wow that's a great idea and i think i'm gonna try it. I'm a craftsman and seeing this art had opened my ideas specially on the canvas material and designing . I'm exited to try it, and i think this one has potential in terms of profit and business.

I think this is absolutely fabulous. With all the gift ideas out there, its really hard to find something that you genuine like. I genuinely like this as a gift idea and as something I can have hanging in my house with pictures of me, my husband and children.I think as a gift idea this is really unique. When you are shopping for christmas or for a holiday, personally I get apprehensive that I will get someone a gift that the person will get from someone or has already received from someone. This is a very unique idea.

That is so awesome, I cannot even explain it by words. I would surely buy such a thing and put it in my living room. Also, I would show it to my guests at every family gatherings and be proud. The only thing here is that you have to think twice what photo to pin there. I would actually hire a great photographer at a reasonable price right here. I think it is good that all the people do the work the can do the best and get paid for it!
