Making your own pizza?

I often make my own pizza's. I feel that making my own I can make them more healthy but I can also make different varieties of pizza that you probably wouldn't be able to order from anywhere, it also gives me chance to be able to experiment with different ideas for a different kind of pizza which is always interesting.

I tend to make my pizza's using pizza bread and then I put tomato puree and my toppings such as cheese, ham, pepperoni on top and bake under the grill for around 10 minutes. They come out amazing and are so filling.

Have you ever made your own pizza? How do you make yours and what kind of toppings do you usually use?

We do make our own pizza, and I actually annoy doing that. Usually, I make a deep dish pizza, loaded with everything, and we end up eating it with forks. For a traditional raised crust, I used my bread machine, and put it on the dough setting, and then when it was all done rising, I rolled it out on the pizza pan and added my toppings and pizza sauce. Sometimes, we just want a quick meal, and then I make pizza with a biscuit dough crust. You can either use a mix like Bisquick, or even refrigerator biscuits, and then add your toppings and bake. It doesn't take very long to make pizza this way because thereis no siting for the dough to rise. I think that the prepared crusts taste like cardboard, so we never use thos, although sometimes, I have bought the cheap frozen pizza from the grocery, and then added more sauce, cheese and toppings to that, and it is a much better pizza after that.

Though we do start out with store bought pizza bread, we still like to add our own toppings to make a homemade pizza. I generally like a white sauce or basil pesto, followed by a variety of white cheeses, then sliced tomatoes, fresh minced garlic and basil. Sometimes we add more veggies such as bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives. My husband particularly likes the way they make pizza in Italy as he lived in Florence for a year when he was younger. Most people don't realize, but pizza was actually invented in the United States, so Italians don't quite make pizza the ways Americans think they do. I've seen pizzas in Italy where they put scrambled eggs on top! Sometimes we like to follow the Italian mindset of pizza and add toppings like honey and berries. a pizza with brie, honey, blackberries, and basil is quite tasty!

I like to cook some home made "pizza" for my little cousins. Is fast, cheap, and they eat it without any complain. For the base, seriously I don't get a pizza base, I can use whatever I have, pita bread, regular baguette, sandwich, the whole point is to put the proper sauce and toppings. You can use pizza sauce, or use tomato paste and add some seasoning like pepper, garlic, parsley. Then use your topping, decorate them with smiley faces of pepperoni, put something different like mac and cheese, just make the kids help you out and they can eat it the way they want it. Around 10 min on the oven and that's it.

We used to buy pizzas from Pizza Hut or Dominoes all the time but after we made our own homemade pizza, we stopped. It's just so much better to make your own pizza. You know that all the ingredients are fresh and you can actually choose your own ingredients which means that everyone is able to enjoy the pizza without having to worry about taking bits off. Plus, it is just so much cheaper. The profit that these pizza companies must be making is just crazy.

I've never tried making a pizza. But with your statement, I am eager to try something new. LOL. We are just so inclined with buying these kinds of food, Maybe it would be a good addition to Christmas menu.

I used to make my own pizza and my first was a burnt and epic fail. Making your own pizza? But that was long long time ago when there weren't any local pizza deliveries on our neighborhood. Now there are like dozens of them here so we'd just go for the best and cheapest. Sometimes we'd end up having a lot of bonus points since they have this new online application for ordering thing wherein you get points. So that helps too.

Lol, am very bad at making pizza, the last i tried that, it was a burnt offering,. but thanks to my Dog who helped me with my mess, and it felt really delicious to me, if you know that feeling of eating with your dog, lol, it happened to be one of my best pizza i have ever eaten. all thanks to my dog. But my stomach took the pain after all. Making your own pizza?, i learned my lesson, never to try something i can't do. It's better to order, and save yourself the stress.

I love making my own pizzas. It's fun for the whole family, actually, and kids love to help do this. We usually buy those Boboli pre-made pie doughs, and then we have fun choosing fresh toppings in the meat, cheese, and produce sections. We play around with different types of sauces, which is also fun, and I tend to like putting a lot of hot peppers on my creations. This tends to run everyone else off, so I get to have more for myself. It is easy to make your own pizza dough, of course, but we get the pre-made stuff to save time on some busy dinner nights.

Try to use any other base, like regular baguettes, pita bread, mexican tortillas. The whole idea is to try out whatever may comes in handy. Some of them you'll like them, some others you''ll hate them, but that will be good in case you can't buy the pre made dough. Once, on a friend's birthday, we ended up doing a base of nachos, put them all in a pan, spread the tomato sauce, added some ham, cheese and pepperoni, and it turned out really yummy, pizza nachos for all.

I love doing this. You can prepare them as you please and add whatever your like. It's cheaper and healthier, you have control over what you're putting on and you know where the ingredients come from. I enjoy the whole process of preparing the pizza, cooking the sauce, chopping the veggies, the ham etc. It's fun and then you can get to eat as much as you want which is the best part.

I enjoy making my own pizza and plus I get to save some money, Pizza hut it's really expensive in my country and ordering a pizza can cost 3 times more than doing it myself, I use pita bread if I'm feeling lazy for the base or if I'll have people coming I'll do the base myself. I believe it's healthier and less greasy than ordering one. I can add the ingredients I want and as long as I dont burn it-lol- it's going to taste delicious!

I make my own pizzas, the process might take longer to make but the results are always amazing. I make my own pizza dough, mixing the flour, yeast, oil and warm water. It usually takes an hour or more to be ready.
I have experience with a lot of different types of toppings, from leftover chicken pieces, fruits, and vegetables. I had to cheat a little and make rectangular pizza instead of the round one.

Making your own pizza?
Yes, but i hardly make pizzas because we dont have an oven. We have only a small oven toaster so i make modified pizza just like in the picture. I only use bread loaf as its crust, and different toppings.

I love cooking. And i have tried making my own pizza. Not the way that you have to do the dough yourself though. i don't know how to make that one. It's just an easy to do pizza where i use the traditional bread here in our country which is called pandesal (like a bun) i cut it into two to make a flat surface then put all the ingredients i want and toast it. That simple. I have my home made pizza pandesal. I know so many people here in our country also do this. Making your own pizza? it's way cheaper and tasty cause you do it the way you want it.

Wow! nice post!
I do love to make my pizza at home. I prefer home made pizza to store bought ones, because I personally think that home made pizzas are way more tastier and healthier than in-store pizzas.

I like my pizza to be very cheesy, and usually I prefer capsicum and small chicken pieces as my pizza toppings.

I have made my own pizza. I usually buy the pizza dough and then I put the ingredients I want to, tomatoes, pepperoni, corn, mushrooms, onion, etc. It is a great idea when you want to cook something easy and quick. It will only take you 30 minutes or less if you are fast. After putting the ingredients on the pizza dough I put the pizza in the oven and wait. I always eat pizza drinking red wine. The perfect combination.

I would try it one day if I could get the ingredients together. Not every store sells pizza dough, and I am no expert in making pizza. I see the work those guys have to do to the dough to get it ready to be topped and then placed into the oven and cooked. Not sure I have the time or patience for all of that. I'd also need a pizza pan and a few other items and tools which I don't currently have. Not sure I'd want to invest in something that I wouldn't use all that often.

Oh pizza is one of my favorites! And yes, it is great to make your own pizza. I love hawaiian - ham, cheese and pineapple. My dad hates it and I don't care! ;)

I do make my own pizza very often. At times I buy the pizza base from the supermarket and at times I make it myself. The ingredients that I usually include in my pizza are tomato sauce, chicken, onions, sweet corns, mushrooms, olives and cheese. This is something very easy to prepare and everyone in my family enjoy eating it.

Over here we had the habit of buying frozen pizza and complementing it with whatever we had in the fridge at the time (Sausages, cheese, tomatoes, fine herbs and so on.) It always tasted great and also came out cheaper than buying a complete pizza. Very interesting idea.

As much as I love and enjoy cooking, there are things that I honestly and possibly can't engage in cooking and pizza is one of them. It's not that I won't be able to master making it but the issue is that in my locality and food used to bring us up, pizza is not among them.

So therefore, as a result of this I see making pizza or even learning how to make one as a complete waste of my time and energy since am not used to it, why bother myself in trying to eat or make one?

also love to cook, and pizza is the most easiest way to cook, just buy pizza crust, spread it by pizza sauce,
topped by chopped onion, mushroom, bell pepper, cheese, ground beef or pork, sometime bacon, ham and if u want it like hawaiian flavor, add chopped pineapple.

This is our bonding moment with my nephews and nieces since I don't have a child. We make sure our weekend a happy bonding,
cooking in the kitchen and making different pizza flavor. Loved it!

Totally agree ,that making your own pizza is the best. My favorite home- made toppings are chicken, onion and cheese. For flavor I Garam Masala it. This burst of flavor is everything. I know pizza is Italian , but Indian cuisine has some serious flavors going on. Another one of my favorite home- made toppings is pineapple, bacon , onion, cheese, olives and chilies. The sweet and chili mix does the trick for me. In support of home- made toppings, i don't think,Pizza Hut or Domino's can get this experimental.

I use bread dough for my crust. Instead of letting it rise twice, I only let it rise once since pizza dough doesn't need to get too puffy. My favorite toppings are mushrooms, eggplant, spinach, onions, fresh tomatoes, pepperoni or smoked salmon, and lots and lots of mozzarella and feta cheese.

I've only made pizza a handful of times, though, and I still find it challenging to make a light, thin crispy crust. The dough I use just doesn't seem to spread easily enough to make the perfect thin crust. If anyone has a recipe for a thin crispy crust, let me know!

Since that I only have bread toaster oven at home, I usually make pizza out of slice bread. I just flatten the bread using rolling pin and then I spread the pizza sauce and lots of cheese over the bread. My kids don't like putting lots of toppings in the pizza and they don't eat pizza with pineapple. The only pizza they eat is pepperoni and cheese flavor or just plain cheese. That's weird right?

This past week we made a home-made pizza. We bought already made pizza dough available in the market, and then we put tomato sauce plus all the toppings we love. We only have little oven, so we made a medium size pizza. Its so satisfying to make your own pizza that also taste delicious.

We used to have a habit that whenever it's Christmas, each of us will make our own pizza. We choose what should be in our pizza and how many toppings we have. Then we just share and judge which pizza stands out the most. I like my pizza to be so cheesy and meaty and with lots of mushrooms. Christmas is near! Making your own pizza?

Making pizza is a peace of cake to me, it's really not that hard, I have become an expert so much so that I'm considering building my own oven, to finally master the art of pizza. no one appreciate my talent at home, so I ceased the opportunity to brag a little here.

I love pizza especially with lots of cheese on top. Well, as much as I want to make me own pizza, I can't because we don't have oven at home. So whenever we crave for pizza, I will go to the nearest pizza parlor to order for pizza. There is a pizza parlor here that sells cheaper pizza compare to other known brand. But the taste of their pizza is so delicious for its price. You can have their large pizza for just $1.50, cheap yet satisfying taste.

It is fun to make home made pizza's. I love to it pizza so I want to try to make on my own. Even though it is costly, I think all of it is worth it. I hope I can make a good pizza. Maybe I should try this and make business in it.

I have made pizza twice. My pizzas were served to my siblings. They said my pizzas had the taste of pizza and also had the look of pizza. What they mean was my pizzas looked like pizza and tasted like actual pizza. That was a long time ago, when I was still in college and none of my siblings were married. I never attempted to make pizza. Making a pizza is tedious work, you need to buy so many things for the ingredients. The money you spend on cooking can actually buy a very tasty pizza.

I love making my own pizza! It tastes so much better than ordering in. Flavors are brighter, and the crust I use is both chewy and soft and by no means greasy. It's also fun to do with kids. They love to help customize their own pizza. The only thing is that it costs roughly the same amount of money as it would to order. Cheese isn't cheap, and neither are good quality meats and veggies. Regardless, I had been trying to make more pizza than what I order earlier this year. I'm only a month away from adding a new addition to the family, so I don't have the energy lately. Hopefully I can manage to start pizza making again in the near future.

I have made my own pizza and it can be really a good experience if you ask me. It is very easy to make the pizza from the bread. You just need to buy that soft bread. And then from there onward just work on the flavor and the cheese part. You can surely be adding more toppings later. And put it into the oven. That's the method I have followed and it seems to be working for me.

I've been making my own pizza ever since I moved to the country I currently live in, because the pizza here is almost always overpriced and of horrendous quality. Okay I wouldn't say horrendous, but being from New York City, I'm very much a pizza snob. I've found that throughout most of Europe, anyone who tries to imitate an NYC slice just fails miserably. New Yorkers just seem to know something that Europeans don't. I've looked up recipes online, and while I've managed to somewhat replicate an NYC slice, I lack the proper materials to get it perfect. For one thing, I need a pizza stone, and for another, an oven that can go much higher than my conventional oven.
