How to make your own Easter Eggs? A lot of fun but too messy perhaps?

Hello all, with Easter looming just around the corner, it brings the promise of lots of delicious chocolate and candy to munch on and enjoy! Usually everyone gets at least one chocolate Easter egg at Easter time right? Well I think everyone should get at least one no matter who or where you are. Well most people anyway lol How to make your own Easter Eggs? A lot of fun but too messy perhaps?

Anyway, also it seems, every Easter, the giant supermarket stores and retail chains compete against each other to offer more chocolate Easter eggs for less and less money. The other day Tesco were advertising any of their collect of chocolate Easter eggs for £1. Then a few days later, Asda offer any 3 for £1. Slightly undercutting Tesco! And while those deals are good for the consumer (me and you) as it means we can get more Easter eggs for people with less money today then we ever used to be able to before. It also could mean that the quality of some of these eggs suffers too.

And they aren't bad though, but usually with these low priced Easter eggs, all you get is the egg itself! That's it! No chocolate bar, no mug, nothing inside the egg itself. And that really sucks since Easter is a much about surprise as Christmas Day itself is too. And since Easter is also a time of family, and a great time for doing arts & crafts and cooking lovely, delicious, fun Easter food with, I thought, and wondered, could I make my own Easter eggs?

As it turns out, you can, and it's really not that hard either (apparently). You'll need the right tools and ingredients of course. But you can find tons of great DIY Easter egg recipes and ideas out there. And as always, I use Pinterest for that! I use Pinterest for just about anything food related and one of the great things about it is you can find many, many great DIY chocolate Easter egg recipes and guides on there.

Here's a couple pins that I've been looking at that look really really tempting to try myself! Just for to have a go at it and make my own Chocolate Easter eggs and why I'd like to try making these particular ones as well. How to make your own Easter Eggs? A lot of fun but too messy perhaps?

Hollow Chocolate Easter Eggs

I love the look of these hollow Easter eggs that have smaller eggs inside them. The great thing about these is that they're made from chocolate and a small water balloon lol. You just melt the chocolate and drip it over the balloon in stages so that it dries quick. The tricky part is getting the balloon out after without making it EXPLODE! I can honestly say that I have never attempted to make my own chocolate eggs before. I have in the past made my own hard boiled eggs and decorated them for Easter competitions which was a lot of fun, well a lot of fun until they cracked and then you had to put up with the smell and that was disgusting.

Making chocolate Easter eggs sounds like a lot of fun. This would be ideal for me and my kids to make over the Easter holidays and seems like it would be a lot of fun!

Thanks for sharing idealmike! These are amazing!

Wow! How very fun (and tasty looking) are these! I've never considered making my own chocolate Easter eggs, but I find the pins your provided to be rather inspirational. I know that Easter is a ways off right now, but perhaps some of these ideas could be applied to making them just for fun, like as part of a dinner party or a tea party. I especially like the one made using a balloon. I remember being a kid and doing a similar technique using a balloon and yarn dipped in a flour/water concoction. They always turned out rather fun. I can only imagine the fun it would be to do the same thing with chocolate!

A great post but I think I will just continue to buy ready made easter eggs. It's just so much easier to buy a ready made one because you don't have to worry about it coming out perfectly and it's also less messy. I think it is great to make your own easter eggs but I think it's only feasible for people that are ready good at making their own stuff and those that have a lot of time. I just can't see myself being able to do this.

It's actually fun making things with your own hands. The feeling it gives is inexpressible because it comes deep down from the heart and soul. It's just like being the creator and watching your object of creation is so satisfying.

Easter eggs are very lovely especially when painted with different varieties of colours, it makes it so appealing and captivating to the eyes. This is really a wonderful post you made here, and definitely I am of the belief that it's going to be useful to a good number of people whom are rigged well in the spirit of celebration.

Good job on your creativity in easter eggs making, as I look forward to making mine sooner than later and to revel in my own personal creation.
