Hello all, with Easter looming just around the corner, it brings the promise of lots of delicious chocolate and candy to munch on and enjoy! Usually everyone gets at least one chocolate Easter egg at Easter time right? Well I think everyone should get at least one no matter who or where you are. Well most people anyway lol
Anyway, also it seems, every Easter, the giant supermarket stores and retail chains compete against each other to offer more chocolate Easter eggs for less and less money. The other day Tesco were advertising any of their collect of chocolate Easter eggs for £1. Then a few days later, Asda offer any 3 for £1. Slightly undercutting Tesco! And while those deals are good for the consumer (me and you) as it means we can get more Easter eggs for people with less money today then we ever used to be able to before. It also could mean that the quality of some of these eggs suffers too.
And they aren't bad though, but usually with these low priced Easter eggs, all you get is the egg itself! That's it! No chocolate bar, no mug, nothing inside the egg itself. And that really sucks since Easter is a much about surprise as Christmas Day itself is too. And since Easter is also a time of family, and a great time for doing arts & crafts and cooking lovely, delicious, fun Easter food with, I thought, and wondered, could I make my own Easter eggs?
As it turns out, you can, and it's really not that hard either (apparently). You'll need the right tools and ingredients of course. But you can find tons of great DIY Easter egg recipes and ideas out there. And as always, I use Pinterest for that! I use Pinterest for just about anything food related and one of the great things about it is you can find many, many great DIY chocolate Easter egg recipes and guides on there.
Here's a couple pins that I've been looking at that look really really tempting to try myself! Just for to have a go at it and make my own Chocolate Easter eggs and why I'd like to try making these particular ones as well.

And those, as delicious and as fragile as they look, as it turns out, aren't actually that hard to make! You can find a full detailed instruction guide on how to make them and the best things to make them with. You might have to do some trial and error to get them perfect by practising on a couple at first. But once you perfect it you should be able to make some truly amazing DIY chocolate Easter eggs at home yourself.
Hollow Chocolate Easter Eggs
I love the look of these hollow Easter eggs that have smaller eggs inside them. The great thing about these is that they're made from chocolate and a small water balloon lol. You just melt the chocolate and drip it over the balloon in stages so that it dries quick. The tricky part is getting the balloon out after without making it EXPLODE! These are also called "String Easter Eggs". There's an easier recipe to follow here https://pinterest.com/pin/551550285595930639/
And how about these Homemade Fondant-Filled Chocolate Easter Eggs?
?
All filled with that delicious creamy fondant filling that just makes you want to stick a spoon into them! They are pretty easy to make. Just follow the guide in the link in the pin for Homemade Fondant-Filled Chocolate Easter Eggs.
Well that's a few ways to make your own amazing looking and delicious tasting DIY Easter eggs which I wouldn't mind trying. I'm sure they probably wouldn't come out looking anything like this and could go in the "Pinterest nailed it" category. But you'd probably have fun trying right?

Making chocolate Easter eggs sounds like a lot of fun. This would be ideal for me and my kids to make over the Easter holidays and seems like it would be a lot of fun!
Thanks for sharing idealmike! These are amazing! I can honestly say that I have never attempted to make my own chocolate eggs before. I have in the past made my own hard boiled eggs and decorated them for Easter competitions which was a lot of fun, well a lot of fun until they cracked and then you had to put up with the smell and that was disgusting.
