What are your thoughts on GIMP?

GIMP was the graphic software I turned to when I wanted something that was similar to Photoshop but without the expense. I remember GIMP taking me a while to get used it and I went through a lot of tutorials and guides to work out how to use GIMP, once I was more familiar with GIMP I was using it really well making some really awesome graphics. I haven't used GIMP in a while now though as I haven't done many logo's for a while.

If I was to suggest to someone a graphics software and they were strapped for case I would definitely recommend GIMP.

What are your thoughts on GIMP? Would you say it's similar to Photoshop?

I have never used GIMP, although I have heard a lot of great things about it, and it is apparently quite popular. I have actually never used Photoshop either. I have an iPad and when I need to edit a photo, or work on a picture, I have an app called Procreate, and I like it. it is pretty simple to use, and it does the basic things that I want to do. Since I am not into photo-editing professionally, and just use it to touch up my own pictures, it works perfectly for me. Apparently, the app does not do as much as the regular computer program, but it is also much cheaper than the whole program also.

GIMP is absolutely amazing if you don't have the money to buy a professional piece of software like Adobe. The only problem is that it's not exactly the easiest for amateurs which is a similar problem for Adobe as well to be fair. I'm sure that after you check out a lot of tutorials that the system will become a lot easier. For it being free, it's a great piece of software but obviously not the best if you have the money to buy Adobe Photoshop.

GIMP is a perfect replacement of the photoshop. Though a lot of things on GIMP are harder. But it can do pretty much everything that photoshop can do. And the best part is the cost. You get the GIMP free of cost. You don't need anything to spend. Just download the installer and run it on your machine. That way you can easily get started on the learning process. Though there are not many learning options out there. But it seems like the GIMP does work for those who wish to put in some time. I have used it but due to commercial requirement sticked with Photoshop.

I have never really done well with GIMP. I have downloaded it multiple times and have always ended up uninstalling it after a few hours or days because of how frustrating it. I'm not the best with graphics in the first place and GIMP just doesn't make anything easy. I managed to get a trial of photoshop and it is just so much better even for beginners.

It has huge learning curve. You can learn photoshop quickly. But for the GIMP you have to take even more time. I trully don't know how many even learn the GIMP quickly. It seems like the GIMP has it's share of the issues. And requires our attention to the full. So on that basis, I'd say that GIMP requires some level of tutorials and videos to go through to get hold. So that's why if anyone has money they should move to photoshop.

GIMP, an open source photo editing program, is considered the best alternative to Photoshop, Sometimes it is even referred as free photoshop. I have used GIMP, however, I did not continue to use it because I already was using photoshop. Had I not used photoshop, I would have chosen to master my skills with GIMP.
GIMP does not have a good interface though. It has three floating screens and which is a great distraction.
GIMP is also a complicated program, in order to use GIMP, you need to learn how to use it.

I think GIMP is a bit hard to use too. That's why people move to the photoshop. And also the learning curve takes a lot of time. And people need to be understanding of how the GIMP may work around in such case. I don't push much on GIMP anymore. Photoshop is good enough.

I have tried GIMP a few times. Seems too hard to maneuver and too difficult to figure out at times. I gave up on it and deleted the program. That was last year. Not sure if I'd try to use it again, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. It would just take a major necessary use for it on my PC.

I love open source software, but i could never get my head around gimp, it's cluttered, unorganized, and limited.

I think this GIMP is a great alternatives for all editing software you used, like it can literally create any high definition image or art you wanted to do or make. I would definitely try this GIMP if I've ever had chance or time.

I started to use GIMP when I was in high school. It is belong in our curriculum in computer subject. I am fun in using it. Because it is like the photoshop. The only difference is GIMP is a lot easier than photoshop.

I personally don't use GIMP. It's not that I think it is a bad product, not by a long shot, I just feel that it is too limited for my needs.

I think I've only ever used it two or three times, and that was only because I was learning the basics in order to teach my parents how to edit their photos.

For people who aren't too familiar with photo editing or don't have the money to invest in a license for Photoshop, GIMP is definitely a good alternative. However, if you're working on a professional level then you should probably upgrade to an actual professional tool, as GIMP will severely limit your potential.

A long while ago, I did use GIMP and found it to be very good. But, I have not used it for years and can't say anything now. I don't need that kind of comprehensive software and have found easy alternatives.
