Pork Adobo for me is the best food to cook in a birthday party, especially if your from Asian region. Here in Philippines, pork adobo is the most common food that is always present in birthday celebration. You can try also roasted chicken with garlic, along with the pork adobo. Its a good mixed in a birthday party. Pork adobo & Roasted chicken the food that you must try to cook. I hope I was able to help you.

Have a great birthday celebration!!!

Here in the Philippines we usually cook the what we called "pancit bihon or canton" or the "Filipino-style stir fried noodles" because here they believe that it is cook and serve during birthday to have a long live. It is a other version of spaghetti. It is cooked Rice noodles with Carrots, Cabbage ,onion, Soy sauce, fishballs. It is also like the filipino version of a Padthai of Thai cuisine. We also have a what we called the "Puto" is a type of steamed rice cake usually served as snack or as accompaniment to savory dishes such as dinuguan or pancit in Philippine cuisine and believed to be derived from Indian puttu of Kerala origin.

I agree with you bro. I am also a filipino and I know this. We filipinos always loves to celebrate birthday with our relatives and friends we celebrate with world class filipino foods that we love to eat.

Totally agree! I think we got this belief from the Chinese culture. Pasta or noodles are always present in a typical Filipino birthday celebration. If the birthday celebrant is a kid, you'll never fail to see hotdog on a stick with marshmallows on top. In addition, ice cream and cake is always present. I also like seafood paella or beef caldera on the list. I can't wait to celebrate my birthday. Best food to cook for birthday celebration

For me finger foods would be great if your're having a party foods such as chicken wings , fries and barbecue because they go great with beers or other alchoholic drinks. (a party can't be alchohol) lol

but if you're having more of a formal dinner party a main dish like roasted turkey or steak with some sides then wine for drinks would be more apropriate. it has more of a cozy casual party vibe.

and btw happy birthday to your brother Best food to cook for birthday celebration

Yes, I second that. For me, small snacking with beer and drinks is best for celebrations. Maybe some peanuts and nuts, some snacks and of course plenty of beer haha. But regardless of that, I think that the individual tastes of the person in question should be taken into account.

I second demotion, too!Finger foods would be great. Because a party is also a mix of having fun with people not just about the food. Lots of varieties would be good, too since you are not really that sure to what kind of foods they would want to eat. You don't want to have an emergency while celebrating, right.

In my country,a celebration is never complete without the usual jollof rice.So any birthday this food in attendance is no birthday party. So jollof rice with enough meats and drinks will do.

Spaghetti! My all time favorite. You may find it weird but I also love to have siomai during my birthday. I love fried chicken and also.love to have ice cream. I may be old for these foods but I love ating these kind of foods.

We do the same thing here. We love to celebrate having a spaghetti, but sometimes I do a lot of questions, why we serve those foods, as common food, for especial occasions. I remember when I was still 5 years old. When I asked my mother to cook a food, like spaghetti, she refuse to do so. Because we don't have money to afford such things.

It was an ideal thing to have spaghetti foods, but I didn't experienced in my whole life, even I become now an adult. Now, only one thing I wish is that, my son would have an especial food, for every birthday he
celebrate. I don't wish, for myself anymore, I just wanted happiness, for my family. Though, I can't deny it was my very favorite food.

As a Filipino every birthday we use to celebrate there's always a so called "pancit" in the table. We believe having pancit gives long life to the celebrant.

I second this, especially if you're having a party and feeding a lot of people! Lasagna is delicious, and it's easy to make a lot of it. It's also something you can adapt to people's food preferences; for example, you can make a "white" version if you don't like red sauce, or a vegetarian version. It's also not very hard to make, and it's even easier if you use the kind of noodles that don't need to be pre-cooked.

To go with it, I would suggest salad and garlic bread.

You have to cook something easy, and good enough for a bunch of people. At birthdays we usually cook mexican fajitas, you can buy almost everything ready to eat like tortillas, beans, milk cream, cheese and chili with meat. You just serve all in the table and people can build they're own fajitas the way they like them. Also, is not so expensive and if you want to add an extra snack, just put a big bowl of nachos and cheese sauce before dinner, cold Coke and beers and that's it.

Mexican fajitas! That sounds so yummy. How does it taste like?

This is just delicious! Basically it depends on what you put on the meat when you cook it, usually I just use some garlic, onion and salt. Chop it in large strings, take them to a hot oiled pan, and let them cook. You can add some black pepper too. The basic way to eat them is to grab a tortilla, put some milk cream, black beans, pico de gallo (diced tomato and onion), shredded cheese, and meat on top, roll it up and eat it. It's super easy and everybody can serve it with whatever they like. Highly recommended.

I usually cook Pansit whenever there are Birthday celebrations. Pansit is actually a Chinese dish which symbolizes long life and good health and I believe this are the two things we wanted our celebrants to have. Pansit is very convenient to cook and I'm pretty sure that you will enjoy serving it to your family and friends.

I would go to my all time favorite Menudo. It is a food here in Philippines. It is a pork braised in red tomatoes sauce and with sliced hotdogs with some potatoes and carrots on it, if you like you can add some cheese with it, its really nice food for me. It is I always forward to look for when im in the birthday party with my friends. LOL, you should try this, you're not going to regret it.

Patri,
I don't know what to suggest since I don't have idea of your origin. Which country do you live?. Perhaps I may suggest food to cook but maybe its not possible in your area. As what you have said you want to prepare food for your brother's birthday. Well this is my piece of advice, find out what's your brother's favorite food. You have also to consider your budget because there are some expensive ingredients. Plan it well, I suggest to celebrate it during snack time around 3 o'clock in the afternoon so you will only just prepare cheap but delicious snacks.

CancerNinja
Don't cook. It's more suitable to buy the food rather than to cook it. It will consume most of your time preparing instead of using it for more preferable situations such as the party it self. Maybe if you still insist of cooking, will preparing a decent meal depends on whose going to eat the food. For starters, make a nice soup. Followed up by the main course, a roasted chicken or beef sounds nice. Then a well prepared dessert or the homemade cake will do.

I only celebrate alone. Because, I don't have enough money to invite my friend, and my relatives. I had once forget my birthday, and only my mother remember about it. It's so funny that, when I don't expected someone to surprise me on my birth day. I always wanted someone greet me, the way others celebrate it happily. I always envy those people, and their celebrations.

I only go outside to buy food, for myself. only those day that, I could treat myself in my own budget. Though, I don't feel lonely, when I do such things. Because, it is common thing to me, to do such things.

If it is for your brother's birthday I have the perfect food to cook, PIZZA. Who doesn't love pizza?. It is perfect for every occasion and I know everyone will love it. You can search on the internet or In books for new recipes so you can cook something different than the classic pepperoni pizza. Also, you can personalize and decorate the pizzas as you like. It all depends on your creativity and your capacity to cook. If you like to cook and you cook very good this is going to be a success I promise you. It is not that difficult. If you think that making the pizza dough it is not that easy, you can buy the dough you only will need to do is decorate them and then put them on the horn.

Someone suggested Pork Adobo above and I have to say it is a great thing to have for a birthday party. Of course, it will depend on what your brother likes and whether or not you can eat pork. But if you can then Pork Adobo is a great option to have at a birthday party. I only had it recently for the first time and I am in love with it. I have always been a huge pork fan so it was no surprise really that I liked Pork Adobo. It's not an extremely difficult dish to make either.

Here in Nigeria, the best meal to cook is jollof rice. We call it "party jollof" because of its unique taste.
If you are the person serving the food you could make enemies just from skipping a person. Yes that's how much we love party jollof. It is best served with meat, mostly beef and chicken.
Also in a more elaborate setting It is best to serve fried rice and chicken. We love rice like that.

I guess you'll have to ask the birthday celebrant. After all, it's his/her day and that's the main reason for the celebration.

As far as my favorite food for a birthday celebration, it's always been pasta combined with a home cooked chicken dish instead of some fancy restaurant food that you can buy anytime.

Besides obviously baking a cake (who doesn't like cake?) you could prepare something Italian because everyone loves italian cuisine. I think my favorite dish would be lasagne and it shouldn't be difficult to make. If not lasagne then maybe a homemade pizza with toppings your brother likes.

Well, i don't celebrate birthdays, and i don't think i would celebrate one in the near future, but if the unexpected happens, then it will actually be the normal status quo, the cake. I don't really think i will ever cook for a birthday celebration, why should cook or waste the few resources, as if i won't celebrate another one.
But if i would want to do something big, i will buy some snacks and soft drinks, nothing else.

For someones birthday I usually order a bunch of pizzas or take them out to eat. I don't get cooking for someone on their birthday. Maybe it's just a first world thing, but birthdays to me are a time to take a person out on the town and celebrate. Grabbing some grub at a nice restaurant or bar and grill, before having a few drinks or before taking in a movie is part of the festivities.

If you have a lot of people that will attend your brothers birthday I suggest cooking food that can cater the quantity its cheaper that way. But if you're going to celebrate with your brother and a couple or two of your friends then I suggest going out instead. It'll save you from cleaning the house and the dishes. I hope that helps.

I think jollof rice and fried meat is the best meal for birthdays because it's easy to prepare and majority of the people out there don't have any problem eating rice, they enjoy eating it very well.

it's a meal that can't easily be wasted and it's not a messy food. There are some food that once it's not eaten well makes the whole place look messy. So I think jollof rice is the best.

Hi patri, Actully i dont know what i should suggest on you because i dont know if you are Filipino same me. But any way i will suggest food that can be eaten international. You can add on your dish the alfredo fettucine, it is serve with white sauce and fettucine pasta. Roasted chicken, just marinated the chicken in BBQ sauce and oister sauce put also some piece of star anise all night before roasting it. And also for dessert you can make your own graham mango float.

Your question depends on the type of food that is quite popular and generally being eaten by many in your community. this is because the type of food that we eat here in Nigeria, for instance, may not be cool for people living in your country and suggesting that type of food for those in your country may result in people eating a food that will end up as food poison in their stomach. so, consider a situation whereby your friends came to your party and end up eating food that will cause stomach upset to them. I don't think you may like that type of situation.

However, if you need my advice on the type of food to cook on your brother's birthday, I will suggest you go for any light food that is popular in your locality and does not forget to make snacks as well for people that will not be fine with eating a cooked food. Like in Nigeria where I reside, We use cooked jollof rice in every big event that we organize with snacks like chim chim to add with soft drinks to cap it all.

So, the choice is yours on which food is widely being eaten in your area. also, try and make the ingredients used in cooking the food moderate considering people's choices.

Smoked or grilled pork belly would suffice the protein cravings of the visitors. Just match it with appropriate amount of seasoning mix and butter and the celebration is solved. If you don't want lean meat, smoked or microwaved chicken or turkey can serve the same purpose. Surely, the non-vegan friends of your brother will drool over these dishes.

Spaghetti and Palabok! Yummy! I like spaghetti very much especially if it was cooked by my mom. I also like puto because it completes my birthday. For spaghetti, just search for sweet spaghetti because that's the one children most like. In palabok, I recommend that you should add crispy prok skin (chicharon in Filipino), egg and squid to make it special. For puto, just add cheese and then poof! Your birthday is perfect!

For a birthday celebration just order dozens of pizzas and plenty of beer. That party would be so dope. Every time I go to birthday parties most of it have pizzas. It's very easy to have because you'll just need to order it then wait for it to arrive and also it's not that expensive every celebrant would afford it because it's cheap. The other benefit of it is saving time and effort to cook.

Well, depending on how old he is you can do different kinds of food. Kids love stuff like sandwiches, sweets and so on, while adults are different. However there are some stuff that everyone loves such as : pizza, burgers, etc. You should play it safe and order some food like pizza if you want to celebrate at your home. If you want a more official celebration then you can always go to a restaurant and order some food there.

My question is, how old is your brother? Is it going to be a children's party? Or is it the other way around? I guess it's pretty simple if it's going to be a children's party. Consider what the children usually like such as hot dogs and marshmallows on sticks, Spaghetti, fruit salad, fried chicken and don't forget about the birthday cake to be blown by the celebrant along with the other children at his back! LOL As for ordinary birthday parties, Sushi rolls, Mac and Cheese, veggie dips and pizza would also be good ideas. Don't forget about booze! My birthday is also coming in a few days and I'm still thinking about if I'm going to celebrate it or not. I don't wanna get old so I may just pass. No kidding! I'll just probably be thanking my parents for bringing me into this world. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Perhaps we could just have a simple dinner together with my husband, daughter and my little girl.

As a filipino, birthdays are not complete without having a dish with pancit( long rice noodle) for long life. Or anything that has long noodle or pasta like spaghetti. Then friend chicken, menudo ( dish with pork, potato, carrots and pork liver with tomato sauce), ice cream and cake. As long as we have this food you can call it a really good birthday party. There are lots of food that you can prepare like Filipino traditional food. However, we can eat that even without birthdays or holiday season since it's traditional Filipino dishes. Yes sure, a lot easier to prepare and less expensive, but not so exciting. Why not be creative and do some online research like you tube. If your brother likes Korean then you can add up your menus such as Korean Sushi or Japanese tempura. There are many Korean stores available to buy like nori sheets, crab sticks and sesame oil for the main ingredients. Don't forget the rice, of course, could be Japanese rice or if not available in your area just try to look for not so "sticky" rice, a no-no to the ordinary brand. With the Tempura, fresh medium size shrimps will do simply marinate with salt and pepper then do the FEB process (flour, egg and bread crumbs) and fry, There you go hopefully you will consider this suggestion.

In my opinion, a barbecue is the perfect solution to cooking for a gathering of people. Rather than slaving away in a kitchen for your guests, you get to be outside and share the cooking experience with everyone. All of your guests can be involved in one way or another, and it's just more of a social experience than cooking everything in a kitchen and then serving it up for dinner. Of course this implies that the weather permits. It isn't exactly as easy to barbecue during the winter.

For non-Filipino ,it is a Filipino noodle dish and is a staple second to rice. This was brought by the chinese and was localized since then. For me, it would be "pancit bihon" in the Filipino language. It's a white small thin pasta and some ingredients are cabbage, carrots, beans and you can also put chicken or pork. Just cook your favorite food! It's your day so you have to satisfy yourself not only the guests that you are expecting. If you love pasta, then go for lasagna, spaghetti, mac n' cheese, etc. If you love Asian food then go for noodles, rice, dimsum, etc..
For me, just make the ones you love to eat and don't stress your self in thinking about what other people might think about what you serve on the table.

Pasta, burger and fries all the way for me! For me, without those three, a party isn't a real party. I could be quite biased about this since these are actually my favorite snacks. Then again, I think it really depends on your culture and what people in your place would usually serve during parties. The age of your brother's visitors should also be considered, by that I mean if he's still a child, adolescent or young adult.

Party foods are just a delight to have. However, when it's your turn to prepare, you suddenly cringe at the thought of putting up a whole entree of meals for your guests. As a mother who prepares these stuffs more often that not, Here are my suggestions. First, think of the general age group you will be serving. if it's a children's party, load your party food list with child-friendly dishes c=because you don't want a hungry kid at the party. Go with the traditional spaghetti and burgers and some grilled hotdogs for them. also provide sweet treats like ice cream and small cakes too. If you are planning for more of the age you are in, try to list foods that are in your liking and the general guests. These always include pasta, either your traditional spaghetti, or lasagna or pesto dish, some finger foods such as taco cups or mini pizza. Then add some grilled meat, like chicken or beef or pork. For the dessert, you can prepare jello shots for adults or plain jellos for kids. Some baked pastries or ice cream. Next step, arrange them properly. Arrange the food nicely lined up in a table and separate the desserts. If possible, place them in a different table next to the drinks so that your main serving table won't be crowded when guests line up for food. And lastly, enjoy your party. there can always be some missteps during the preparation but don't lose in mind that the reason for a party is to enjoy.

I also like pansit. There is also a pansit canton which is very delicious. It can be added to the main dishes to have more choices for the guest at a birthday party. It is a heavy dish that can actually make you already full.

For me a birthday celebration is not a celebration with out a spaghetti and cake on the table. I think its not fun at all if you don't indulge on your favorite food or other things that make you happy if you do not have them on your birthday. And yeah I particularly want spaghetti be it cooked for me or cooked by me on my birthday even if I don't have a party. Who needs a party if your past your teens lol?

Spaghetti, Ice Cream, Cake and Lechon Baboy Please! Haha. Celebrate birthday like a feast in a Barrio! Then after the Celebration comes next the Beer Drinking Session with Friends and please do not forget the Videoke machine. This is such a Filipino stuff and everyone just loves doing this in all types of celebration.

Now for lunch or dinner celebration tries to cook kare-kare, pininyahang manok (Filipino dishes). If you have adult friends of course you have to reserve 1 case of beer hehehe.

You should know his favorite foods. People tend to eat all their favorites regardless of their diet as long they know its cooked by not only by their loved ones but also their friends. During my birthday, my girlfriend which is not my girlfriend during that time help me to cook my favorite spaghetti. She also teach me some ways to make it more creamier and she definitely has good sense of taste cause my favorite spaghetti gets to be more delicious together with her.

In every birthday here in the Philippines you'll absolutely find Pancit (noodles) and ofcourse the sweet style spaghetti served at the tables. There is also fried chicken, lumpia, adobo and a lot more. But my favorite would be the Kakanin (Filipino delecacies which are usually made from rice, glutinous rice and root crops) like Latik, bibingka, and cassava cake.

Here in the Philippines, Spaghetti is always present on the dining tables. Not just during birthday celebration but usually on any occasions. As Filipinos, we always make sure that the table has kid-friendly dishes. Usually, children love the sweet style spaghetti always paired up with fried chicken.

I'm not sure about this. This is an interesting topic and one that requires further research. I wonder what the perfect birthday meal is.Would you want to have something different or your favorite meal?My favorite meal is chips, but not everyone loves chips. The best thing to do is to have a couple of meals so that everyone can enjoy something. Also the best thing about a birthday meal is the cake in my opinion. My favorite cake is chocolate cake and black forest.

I can't deny that Pork Adobo is super delicious, but since I grew up in Singapore, I prefer Char kuay Teow and Nasi lemak on special occasions. However, not long ago, I graduated from UCL, and since I spent my last 3 years in the UK, I became accustomed to some of their traditions. My friend, who's actually British, was the one who baked me a fortune-telling cake for the first birthday I spent in the UK! And guess what? The coin was in the first bite I took, meaning I'll be super-wealthy, ha-ha! I really loved celebrating my birthday in Singapore and in the UK as I got to experience mixed feelings! Now, let's talk about my little brother, who's turning 5 in a month and will have a kids birthday party online since the pandemic is still here. That sucks since he celebrated his last birthday in lockdown as well. Oh well, Thank God for modern technology!
