Do you think tablets will eventually replace laptops?

I feel like tablets are in a weird place right now. I think they're great content machines for when you're at home, or travelling, since with such a big screen watching videos with them is much better than with a smartphone. However, for day to day use I feel like laptops are just so much more efficient. How do you guys feel about this?

I think the one advantage they have over laptops is exclusive touchscreen functionality. They are great tools to add to your collection of devices and digital toys. But overall, laptops are better for getting work done. If you're just browsing or watching videos or doing some online shopping? Then tablets are great. I'd bring a laptop with me on a long trip. I'd bring a tablet with me over to a friends house for a few hours to 1 night stay. That's the best way I can describe it really.

So true. You can never replace tablet over laptop. You cannot use tablet in the office so how it is possible that tablet will replace laptop?. If I play a games or check my account I used tablet but if there's a work to be done I used my laptop. Besides l see most people used their android cellphone than using tablet. Actually there is a possibility that cellphone will eventually replace tablet in the future.

I actually prefer to use a laptop, instead of a tablet. Maybe the tablet is easier to carry, but the laptop is much more effective and has much more functions. However, i won't change my laptop with a nice leather cover from https://olpr.com/collections/leath...k-covers-holders to a tablet for sure.

So, it has already been 3 years since you guys started this debate? What do you think, have the tablets came
even close to the laptops? In my opinion, the tablets actually lost a
bit of their popularity. I still se them as just some toys for kids, and
maybe a useful device for a designer or someone working in the design
domain. They just cannot compete with the laptops, these are 2 really
different devices. I would never actually by a tablet. Even the guys
from https://gadgetguide.in, who are helping people to choose the right
device, told me that the tablets aren't even close as popular as the
laptops

I agree with judas2018. For typing its much easier to get the job done using Laptop. For tablets its much more easy to carry and you can use it even when you're lying on you back. But I don't think tablets will eventually replace laptops as they have their own advantages.

I believe that tablets are already starting to replace them, but I don't think this will lead to laptops being obsolete because of them Yes, I agree that tablets are more convenient, could be cheaper at times, and much easier to carry around. What must be given stress though is that when doing office works such as typing, and making presentation or videos, these are not quite easily done compared when laptops are used. Tablets also have it's limitations and as of now, I believe that there are still a lot that you can't do here compared to laptops. Maybe someday it can, 5 to 10 years from now it could be possible, when programmers will be able to make certain technological innovations, the way they are focusing in making new specs and features in smart phones. Laptops have outdated pcs because they are essentially one and the same, except that you can carry around laptops.

Thank you! Which of the two do you use more in office works or day to day life? I use my phone more because I could do activities even if I'm just lying on the bed. With that in mind, I use my laptop when I need to do important works and has to type really fast. I can't really type fast using my phone or tablet.

No. Tablet's are very different from laptops. For me, tablet's are just like mobile phone. Why I say No? In laptop you can do more things, you can do your job fast because you can type faster because of the built in keyboard. The two has their pro's and con's. But I don't think tablet's will replace laptop's. They are good in their own way,

I don't think so. Instead, there would be more laptops that will look like they are tablets but would still keep the keyboard function. I guess this is already happening because most laptops now are very handy, light-weight and thin, am I right? If I were to choose between the two, I would still choose using my laptop for work and just use my tablet for other things like playing games, listening to music and other things that would not require me to type in numerous words.

I actually agree with your view on this. I think that laptops are going to take on the characteristics of tablets, but obviously have greater performance than tablets do.

For example, I was recently having a discussion with a friend about how I prefer just having a good laptop over a tablet. His argument was that tablets turn on faster than laptops so his content is easier to access. I pointed out how I have a laptop with the OS installed on an SSD, which means that the laptop boots up from a completely powered off mode in only 1.6 seconds, and is instantly ready to use. Along with SSD drives, the recent Microsoft operating systems are trying their darnedest to imitate mobile operating systems, and a lot of laptops have touch screen features now.

No. there are many things that you can do on laptop which you can't on tablets. Yes tables are more convenient to carry but laptop for me has and edge when it comes to function. They have a big difference especially on softwares that you can download and use. Nowadays, electronic companies released different models of convertible tablets which has the same function as laptops do, for that I'd say kudos to them! Do you think tablets will eventually replace laptops?

In my opinion nope they won't there are hybrids of tablets that can act as a laptop but it's specs are no where near laptop specs.
I agree tablets are more mobile for me its more for presentation use in business when showing simple presentation and such.

Laptop are however are able to run more types of apps than tablets, apps that are used in different fields. maybe if tablets had the same specs like laptops and more apps are integrated tablets could replace laptops.

I don't think that tablets can replace laptops because for me its very easy to handle laptops and you can easily work in laptops. But at some point, tablets has a lot of advantages which can't be find in laptops just like for example in installing apps. There are a lot of apps that table can be able to install and laptop can't. But if you want to make or edit documents, spreadsheets, word documents etc. it is easy to work it on laptop.

In my opinion, no, there is no way that tablets are going to replace laptops in the foreseeable future. At the current rate that they're being developed, there is just no way that they are going to be powerful enough to replace the capabilities of laptops. I believe that laptops are always going to be one step ahead of tablets. For example, I use my laptop to not only play the latest PC games but I can use programs like Photoshop and After Effects which require a good amount of processing power. I just don't think that they'll be able to shrink such performance to the size of a tablet anytime soon.

I guess no, maybe some of the functionality of laptop can also be find on tablet and maybe someday all of its features can be cover by it but I guess it will not totally replaced laptop because of the convenience it gives in doing paper works. It has already built it keyboard where you don't need an keyboard accessory just to type. Laptops are just beyond tablet's functionality for now because it is more likely a bigger version of smartphone. It is has more of smartphone features than laptop. Thanks and God Bless.

Well as for my opinion I dont really think an tablets can be a replacement for a laptop it is because there is stil many things a laptop can do while Ipad cannot do. Best example is using MS office,in tablet you have to put a bluetooth keyboard in order for you to have a convient typing process, more things to install waste of money waste of time, while in laptop it is simply as open it and then your in, you can already use it as it is.

Nope, tablets and laptops are different. There are 2 types of tablets, with sim card and without. Most tablets are small screen, hardly sufficient to watch movie with it. Blogging with a tablet is a bit clumsy when there isn't any built-in keyboard. Tablets are easy for kids who play app games , light and easily to break down too. However they are much cheaper than laptops. I would prefer to use laptop for my blogging needs

Nope there are many things that a laptop can do than tablets. Yeah you can carry both anywhere and anytime. But you cant just use tablets for high memory documents in your whole life, we also need the consistency of the gadget of which limit they can handle. You dont need to catch up to things that are superior than the other one buy just upgrading, of course when you upgrade tablets, you also upgrade laptops. Its all about the era and the performance you first showed off, in short " first impression".

Tablets have small advantage to Laptops in a way they are easier to interact with if you are outside of your house or work office and if you are taking a walk, you will still able to hold and use your tablet but they will not eventually replace laptops. Tablets are still just like mobile phones but bigger screen and Laptops will always be in their own league because there are things only a laptop can do for you that tablets can't, like running games and softwares that requires high graphic and performance specifications.

Tablets are great devices with bigger screens for watching movies but it won't replace laptops. Though the use of smartphones and tablets have increased in the last few years, people still use laptops for their work. Laptops are portable computers which can do more stuff than tablets. Laptops can run heavy games and 3-D softwares easily which a tablet can't run. Tablets are a good option if you want to surf the net, check e-mails, listen to music, play movies and run apps.

No, laptops have a lot of functions not present in tablets. Besides, laptops have already been modified a lot of times with new innovations and solved a lot of problems which can already beat some PCs when it comes to the specifications. Tablets are fun to have though because they are so handy.

They will if they haven't started doing so already. They are portable and much more user-friendly than the desktops. Besides, why would I want chunky and heavy and prone to system errors when I can have light, portable and much more usability. A tablet is the next big thing happening in the technology world. with a few upgrades and much more functionality, I do believe desktops and laptops are on their way to extinction.

Yes, using tablets are more convenient than laptops. You don't even need a lot of space when it comes to storage cause they are literally light but when it comes to performance, they can prove that when it comes to performing tasks, being bulky isn't much of a help.

I never had a tablet but with the buzz growing around it and how it functions almost better than laptops, I think that it is already on its way to replacing laptops. one major advantage that tablets have got over laptops especially the older versions of laptops is that they are portable in nature and can carry about with ease and coupled with the fact that it does everything a normal laptop does or even more makes it an exciting prospects for anyone thinking about upgrading his technological gadgets.

Even with the ability of tablets to perform almost all the tasks that can be performed using a laptop, I think they are still having issues when you want to use them for Microsoft works such as coral drawing, typing, publishing and the rest which laptops do more conveniently, but aside that I am of the opinion that tablets are really taking a major market share of the tech world.

However, I am not ready to trade my laptop for a tablet since I've become comfortable using a laptop and won't like a situation where it will take me time to adapt.

Definitely a No. I do find laptops more advantageous when it comes to productivity. In tablets the good thing is just it is handy. There are just things that the other is good and the other is not, and that depends on the person using it. We can even see nowadays a tablet with a handy keyboard, too, in which it is like a laptop.
I use laptop for video editing, photo editing, projects, and a lot of stuffs. I'm more into mouse and keyboard than just nothing when doing big works.

Tablets are a great mobile device, and yes I have solve some issues with it when my laptop is out of service, but unfortunately to me a laptop is way much better than a tablet, and in fact, it have been plenty of time since the last time i used my tablet, because I always rather use my laptop. Typing is super slow on tablet, also it never has same capacity and speed, sometimes touch screen is a nightmare, and there are some programs/apps you just can't download properly, or don't have same features that on laptop.

I do not think that tablets will replace laptops. I do, however, think that people will, for a while, own both and use them for different purposes. My laptop has a lot more functionality than my tablet does, and as a writer, I am really dependent upon and accustomed to banging out content on the keyboard. That being said, I would use a table for business meetings in public or for just playing around on social media while having a coffee somewhere that has free Wifi. Of course, I could use my Smartphone for that, but I like the bigger screen of the tablet, to be honest.I also do not rely as much on the touchscreen, so the laptop appeals to guys like me a bit more I think.

I believe that there should not be really an issue about tablets to replace laptops in the future. Basically, it must depend on the users' choice of gadgets convenient to them for a particular purpose, for example of either gaming or internet browsing use, etc. The manufacturers continue to develop tablets and laptops that will adapt to the growing needs of the end users to the advancement of internet operations and applications. In fact, I bought a laptop but may used as a tablet should I detach the LED screen from the keyboard. But actually, it is my smartphone that takes over the job of my laptop and tablet because I carry it everyday, easily.

Not really, because whatever kind of touchscreen we have, we're still going to be more comfortable with a keyboard and a mouse, if we are multi-tasking and performing tasks that require higher APM. I even think that, the laptop will replace a phone and tablet. I always suspected those things, it's not just a mere prediction, but the technology will keep emerging.

I even think that, Personal computer will be replace, like phone. One day phone, and computer will be one someday, and it will be happen, for some time in the future. I will not surprise of what will happen to the technology today, as modern, will be a old product in 1-5 years to come.

I think, it's a big NO! Laptops are way better than tablets. Specification speaking, laptop is far way better because no tablets can handle a NVIDIA GeForce 1080Ti. No tablet can handle GTA V or any high end games. It's like laptop cannot replace PC until now because there are boundaries between the two same thing with tablets.

I can't see it happening to be honest. I think the tablet phase has passed us. They were really popular a few years ago but I think they have been dropping in popularity recently. I don't think they will ever replace laptops but I do think that those 2-in-1 laptops will become extremely popular. I think those will definitely become a lot more popular because you can use the tablet when you are out and about and then turn it into a laptop when you are at home or at work.

First of all, you need to understand that tablets and laptops are two different gadgets, with different functionality and specs, and i think the question should be, will laptops replace tablets, because, modern laptops now have the same functionality of most tablets if not all. And i think why laptops will always have an edge is the keyboard functionality, most people like me prefer the keyboard over the touch pad. so i don't think tablets can replace Laptops.

I think Laptop is always going to be the best choice in doing task such as writing. Because it's more efficient and you type words with efficiency because of the physical keyboard, while using a tablet is so easy but you are prone to make a mistake in typing because of the virtual keypad is not always accurate. Like in my case, I am using a tablet and its hard to type words efficiently because I have big fingers. My accuracy in typing drops and I just have to proofread what I wrote.

I don't even like the idea of notebooks replacing desktops. But I think note/desk it's a fair comparison, but I just can't imagine tablets replacing something like this. I know they have its benefits, but notebooks and desktop still remain more flexible, even easier to do some tasks. I think the only advantage tablets may have are their size and weight. The typing, for a exemple, it's painful. Some people may say "Oh, you can just buy a USB keyboard", so what is the point of not using a notebook instead?

I believe that they will in a few years because I have already started noticing more people carrying around their tablets rather than their laptops. I mean why do you need a laptop when you have a tablet that's smaller, cheaper and can basically do the same things except if you require the laptop for gaming or something similar. Just for daily business, browsing, ... the tablet is the perfect choice since it's also easier to move around with it. It isn't heavy like most laptops. Therefore I do think that tablet will soon completely overtake laptops but they just have to figure out how to put certain components into such a small and thin thing.

Until tablets get the computing power and capability of regular laptops, I don't see them replacing anything anytime soon. The most tablets have going for them is the use of a touchscreen, but there have been a few laptops that have had that functionality for years without the drawbacks tablets have such as a lack of processing power or an unsuitable OS for most programs or games. I can't play Mass Effect on a tablet yet. Until we can do that AND draw on the thing, I see them as continuing to be a side tool at best for the next few years.

The truth is that both tablets and laptops are very easy to use and carry when traveling on a journey that needs such gadgets for one kind of work to do. It all depends on the preference of the user to choose between a laptop or a tablet device.

Normally, laptops are more formal for office purposes. It would look odd to be carrying tablets in the office for a days job. It's not that the boss cannot have a tablet in this office but it's not appropriate for general staff to use tablets as well.

Honestly tablets are great and all but, a laptop is a laptop. Laptops are way easier to work on and you can just get work done so more efficiently. The online time I think a tablet would start being the preferred way to work is when it resembles a laptop, meaning a laser keyboard and track pad/mouse appear that is easy to type and do work on. Still a solid keyboard and mouse would easier. Sure its nice to have the screen close to you and be able to touch things and drag and move. With a laptop you can do all that. Also the OS of tables limit what a person can do with software and such. A computer will always be the easiest and best way to work. Just not the most portable.

No, because laptops are more efficient to use than tablets. Laptops has greater aspects of capability usage especially in doing important works. Although tablets are compact, very lightweight and extremely easy to carry. However, they do not possess the processing power of a laptop. It will never replace the power of laptops.A laptop is generally characterized as a mobile personal computer,a device on which you can perform all the tasks available on a desktop but in a mobile, light, compact fashion.Laptops have become lighter and smaller over the years, but have made significant strides in power, functionality and performance. For many users, laptops have become their preferred computing device because it allows them to complete all the tasks they would need on a desktop but with the convenience of mobility and flexibility.
While tablets on the other hand, are currently the pinnacle of mobile technology. They are compact, very lightweight and extremely easy to carry. However, they do not possess the processing power of a laptop. Their functionality as a computing device is very limited, although sufficient for some people’s uses. Tablets can be ideal for those who browse the Web casually, such as read the news or popular websites, and those who play "lightweight" games, or want to watch TV or films while traveling. Additionally, tablets can be used in a variety of specialized careers like design and music.
Both laptops and tablets offer extremely convenient and powerful features, but the most efficacious for you will be based upon the tasks you seek to complete by the device.

Tablets are extremely limited with what they offer. For example, you can add very limited RAM power. And same with the screensize. If these two parts can be taken apart and given more strength. Then sure the laptop can be replaced. Till then I don't think there is any way to replace the laptops as of yet. In fact current laptop trend has yet to beat the desktop too. So tablets are less likely to replace desktop and laptops. People need speed and power which tablets can't give much for sure.

Tablets will never replace laptops as the usages of laptops and tablets are entirely different. If you want to work, you need a laptop. You cannot design a website on your tablet. What ever you can do on a tablet can be done on your laptop (yes, you can also make a phone call). However, what you can do on a laptop can never be done on a tablet. You may make a simple logo on a tablet, however, if you want to do a comprehensive design, you need a proper computer.

Tablets' software are fun and easier to move around.Tablet can integrate with external plugin mechanisms to emulate necesessary functions that you need to do your work with. Tablets are definitely close to laptops, but in terms of shear power and as the technology we have now, there is no way that a tablet can replace a laptop. Laptops provide more functions and ease specially for work, and tablets provide more on the entertainment side. So it's still a no for me.

Just like laptops have almost replaced the use of desktop computers, so would tablet replace laptop. It's not a matter of if but when would it happen. From observation, it has already started and soon, one would hardly see anyone operating laptops.

I have a thought that it can but it won't. Laptops have many different features than that of a tablet but there are now convertible ones that are really on par with laptops. Hence, laptop is loptop and a tablet is a tablet, there will be no change for it. Specifically, about gaming laptops, it will take a very long time for tablets to be on par with this gadgets, but as I said, it will just take time, but it can but also it won't. The main reason for it, is economics. The companies that are selling laptops also sells a tablet and one replacing the other is not a good phenomenon. So, I proclaimed, that they will never create a tablet that will replace laptops for the sake of profit.

They won't be, because a tablet is a horrible device to work on if you need to write. Sure one could use external keyboards, but you'll still run into the issue of lower performance, which is completely understandable from a cheap device essentially designed for reading news and books. So while the answer is obvious, comparing the two doesn't really make all that much sense because they have been designed for a very different purposes in mind.

It's definitely no. Tablets are too small to handle office works we do in our laptops. It also has slower processor than laptops. You can't install professionals softwares in tablets since it cannot surpass the minimum or recommended requirements needed for that software. Besides, you cannot type words as fast as what we can do laptops. Even though tablets are very handy, still laptops have the necessary usage in terms of office works.

Tablets will always be tablets as laptops will always be laptops. There's no way tablet could outdo laptops. They are still the ones who are efficient in workstations and still prefered by majority of the workers specially when there is typing involved. For me, the creation of the tablet is of no relevance since there are much better alternatives to it.

I don't think so. Even though Tablets has this touchscreen functionality, still nothing defeats of typing at the keyboard. I find it hard to type at the screen. Of course, there are already some laptops that are touch screen ready.

I don't think tablets will replace laptops but they are more likely to evolve together. Like creating a hybrid with the convenience of a tablet and the brilliance of a laptop. Developers these days are innovating their gadgets to cater our fast-paced, lightweight, convenient lifestyle and I think the merge between tablets and laptops are coming to us and will be more available and affordable in the years to come.

It's true what you just mentioned, developers are sure that tablets can't replace laptops, so they device a way to get people buy more of tablets that can be used inform of laptop.

I have one tablet called Afrione 2 in 1. It's a tablet built with a magnetic detachable keyboard just like a laptop. It can be used as a tablet or a laptop, depending on the user's choice.

Apple had been working so hard to replace laptops or PCs users to iPads. They have been bragging about how the new ipads can do anything what a PC can do. Well, I can say that ipads have gone a long way. It can really do a lot of things what a PC can do including documents, business, banking, etc. But I think they haven't reached the point yet when I can say that I need to dispose my PC and switch to ipad alone.

Yes It's true that tablets can do almost anything and everything which a PC/Laptop can do but the catch there is that a tablet can never be a laptop, thus it would fail woefully in being able to replace laptops.

I have both tablet and laptop computer but I have this sense of attachment towards my laptop more than what I feel for the tablet. I work more with my laptop compared to how often I use the tablet.

I don't think tablets will one day replace PC base on the fact that they both serve different purpose. Tablets does not support most PC softwares which will hardly make it a substitute for PC, unless there will be improvement on the yet to be manufactured tablets.

That's always the issue with smaller devices. You can't pack too much into them. Most people don't realize how bare bones their mobile devices, tablets, ipads, etc are. They can hold a streamlined, less compact version of an operating system. But the heavy stuff and a lot of extras are always suited for desktop PC's. They're built to hold traditional operating systems, companion programs, extras and much more.

Because you can have a bigger hard drive, and your processor is going to be superior to the smaller drives and processors offered inside a compact device. Not to mention a steady supply of electrical power. As opposed to a battery. The only thing close to a standard PC desktop is a high end lap top. Even that in some cases is a stretch due to battery life and how what you add into the laptop drains its battery quicker.

Despite of the fact that tablets are really comfortable and easy to use, there are many things that are almost impossible to do with the help of them. That's why we still use laptops. For example a coder,a gamer, programmer, a marketer or many other people which cannot work without a laptop can't use a tablet. Tablet is made for bloggers, kids and just for personal use (but there are a few exceptions). Personally I can't imagine my life without a coding keyboard. This is one of the main and the most important instruments for my work. Also guys, this page will explain you why keyboards are important and why tablets will never replace a laptop as well.
