Do you love to crochet or knit?

When my daughter was born, I crocheted lots of baby items including baby blankets and booties and sweaters. Also, I have crocheted Barbie doll dresses; ornate flowers for decorative accessories, such as on bows and also a queen size bedspread.

I am slowly knitting a baby blanket, which I will give to my sister as a baby shower gift for her daughter. I am hoping the baby and mom loves this blanket as it's made with love. This is my first knitted project of such a big scale. Mostly I have only knitted small items. So far, I've invested over a month knitting but I think the results will be worth it.

I would be able to Crochet my way out of a paper bag if I had to, however I do enjoy knitting. I haven't knitted in a while, but I like knitting baby hats, blankets, dishcloths, scarfs, etc. Just simple stuff. I've done knitted pillow cases and things like that, but those are a lot of work.

Crochet is so relaxing for me. I enjoy doing this while watching TV as it gives me something to do offline that does not require me to focus as much as looking at a computer screen.

I'm slowly learning how to crochet after looking at some blogs online. The things you can create with yarn and thread are really amazing, real works of love.

You can find many videos on Youtube that will show you the basics of crochet or knitting and this is a good place to start. Just start out with your most basic accessories such as a few crochet hooks and various yarns. Your total investment should be less than $20 to start out and that will take you a long way. Practice all the stitches shown on the video until you feel good at them. Don't worry about rushing through any of this as speed and fluency with the craft will come with time.

Start with the most simple projects (you can find many patterns online or in your local craft store).

When I was learning how to knit in home economics class, the teacher would assign us 'homework' and I would do that in the first homeroom class the next morning as it was a nice way to wake up and start my day for school. I didn't continue with knitting very long and some years later discovered my grandmother's crochet needle/yarn collection and taught myself how to crochet. It was a very fun journey. Everyone I show my crochet work to is very impressed. I think it's because not as many people do crochet as it's time/labor intensive and it's considered a vintage type craft. Even just mastering one simple crochet stitch will let you produce really beautiful works of crochet art. Many videos about how to do this on Youtube. I will try to find some to post.

The end result is very feminine and pretty.
However, I have saw one guy on Youtube doing crochet and he was very good at it. Do you love to crochet or knit?

Crochet and knitting requires a lot of manual dexterity. I prefer only crochet now. Very relaxing, especially while watching TV.

Never ever had the patience to learn how to do it. My mom is super good on those, and she really tried hard to teach me, but that was really abstract to me, so I quit. That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate crochet, in fact, after seeing that it takes good effort and time, now I appreciate it more. Really unbelievable, what some people can do. Wish I had more talent for it, but unfortunately that wasn't my thing.

I love knitting but it is more than 10 years now since the last time I did it. I am not sure if I have forgotten how to do it. I used to make socks and also knit any shape. I was around 12 years old back then. I will have to consider buying more materials and start knitting again because this activity never gets old.

Knitting would be my choice, for the reason that I haven't tried crochet yet but I've seen a lot of my friends doing this and it seems interesting and fun at the same time.

I'm not good at it at all - I've tried to learn and just got frustrated with myself every time! How did all of you learn? Did someone teach you, or did you watch online tutorials? Or perhaps some other way, entirely? I'm curious to hear your best tips about how to learn knitting or crochet. Which would you say is easier?
