Do you think DIY videos are useful?

I've seen a lot of DIY videos all over facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and etc. It is literally, every where. Have you tried following one video and ended up being disappointed with the outcome? Because I had, so many times in fact.

Is DIY videos, useful fo you? And what YouTube channel/s, do you follow for DIY ideas?

I definitely find them useful. Most of the time, if there's something I don't know how to do, whether it's home DIY projects or even hairstyles/beauty tips, then I look up tutorial videos online.

I'm the type of person who learns by watching others, so those videos make it easy to understand the process of doing something, step by step. When I'm looking up how to do something, I usually just search for what I need to do + DIY and then a whole host of videos show up. Easy peasy!

I don't know if I am just watching the wrong DIY videos, or I am just not good with crafts.

Yes, same here with me, the person who is doing a DIY on the video that I'm watching feels like it's very easy for him to do what he is doing, but when I am trying to do the things that he is doing, I feel like it's not right or good, that the outcome will be bad.

Maybe you are watching the right video at the wrong time. But if you are really into the craft you are watching, try watching other videos that would walk you through the basics. Try one with voice instructions as well. There were a lot videos that are actually hard to follow when they only show how it is done.

Of course. They are useful videos but maybe there are DIY videos that can't be used or maybe rarely used. I like it when I watch DIY videos that is related to home decor or room decor. I love organizing things so planning and decorating my future room are the type of things that I always watch in youtube. Businesses such as DIY souvenirs and art crafts are also one of those things I like.

Yeah, that's right. Even if it's not really entertaining I still watch those videos but I do skipping as sometimes it makes me bored watching the whole video. I do skip some parts of video and just view the important highlights of the vlog.

The first thing I do when I need to know how to do something is look on youtube. Mostly not so much D.I.Y as for technology answers or on formatting and so on. When the lights failed in my house I immediately looked for how to reset the fuse box. It is great if you are a visual learner like me.

Aside from DIY's, I also look for some solutions on how to fix things and do things that will benefit the house and other things such as phones, laptop computer and any other materials, such as how to cook this one or that one. My favorite thing to do if not DIY is how I upgrade or fix my phone if there are issues involve on my phone.

DIY videos are very useful.

I've learned how to repair many things from these videos and that has saved me a lot of money. The only things I wouldn't try to mess with is plumbing and electricity-related stuff because just one mistake can prove to be quite costly.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Repair works are especially critical and you can easily mess up and do the wrong thing or inappropriately if one fails to act correctly. simple mistakes could ruin the whole house hence the need for renovators to be called in.

simple mistakes could ruin the whole house hence the need for renovators to be called in.

Which is why you should do some minor repairs only. Things like replacing broken window panes is something anyone can learn from DIY videos. Such things can set you back a couple of bucks if you have a handyman do the work for you.

Another thing that one can learn from DIY videos is how to replace broken floor or wall tiles. Learning how to do a few of these things can save you a lot of money.

Of course, they are very useful. There will always be times when you prefer to save money and not buy something which you can actually make at home. DIY videos are a helpful hand for us to achieve something that we want to create on our own. Not only can you save your money, you also can save the skill and knowledge upon learning from DIY videos.

I don't think that vlogs will replace blogs completely. Visual content is great for anything which someone needs to see how it is done practically in order for them to do it well. For anything DIY, visual content rules. That however doesn't necessarily mean that people won't write DIY articles anymore.

Yes, DIY is very useful especially to those stay at home mother that needs to save money for the event of their children. Some people make it seriously that they make it as a business and some make it to success. DIY is good when you want a theme to be detailed or wanted to look what you imagined. DIY helps a lot of people that only have is an Internet.

Yes, some of the DIY videos are truly helpful especially if you want to make crafts that are budget friendly or better, made from recycled materials. However, there are also DIY videos that are just too unbelievable because they always come up with crafts/tutorials that are very unrealistic. On the other hand, the YouTube channel where I always watch DIY videos is 5 Minute Crafts.

True. Their videos are totally easy to follow and their crafts are totally realistic because anyone could do it. I also like the fact that most of their DIY ideas only require materials that are found at home and most of them brings ease to any chore. They also have a lot of ideas about how to recycle plastics and they're very helpful not only to us but for the environment.

I love DIY videos especially from Youtube, I learn so much from them. They are not a perfect solution, because your problem may need to be solved by a professional. I had a problem with my car boot and door and it was too late to go to a mechanic. I looked on Youtube and learned how to fix both. This was a temporary solution offcourse but it worked. If I had left both opened it would have drained the battery and I would have had to spend a lot of money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Sure I do! They are very useful for people who doesn't have any idea about how to do a certain job. I always watch DIY videos if I don't know exact steps to complete a task. For example, last video I watched was about how to replace headlight bulbs for my Chevy Cruze. It was 5 minutes long and gave me the idea, so I tried and succeeded which saved me from giving 10$ to service. My wife also watches some DIY videos for small home improvement.

I’d say that some DIY videos are definitely useful, but a lot of them are just doing it to hop on the trend and grab some easy YouTube revenue. I’m pulling this statistic out of thin air, but I’d say like 20% of DIY videos are genuinely useful, and the other 80% are just a bunch of useless junk that no one would really have any incentive to make.

For example, I once saw a video of a person making a hot glue gun out of cardboard. Not only did the process require using an actual hot glue gun, but when a professional electrician replicated the process, the thing turned out to be an extreme fire hazard capable of burning your house down.

DIY has basically turned into a meme at this point. The only real, reliable DIY is to go to sites or forums with actual hobbyist who take home crafting and DIY seriously.

I agree with you, some videos are scam. I watched a video once about an erasee that can make the crack of your phone disappear, it was impossible.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, definitely! DIY videos are easier to understand than written instructions. It is more effective since the audience can clearly see how the process works. Of course, there are some DIY videos which may be confusing, hence the ideal thing to do is to couple the DIY video with a clear step-by-step narration of the tutorial.

I have seen some useful DIY videos on most social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter as well as YouTube. Most of the DIY videos are embedded with credible information on how to turn nothing into something useful and save money in the process. There are some silly DIY videos out there which are still funny in a way that it's just to make viewers laugh.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Any DIY videos that can help me easily fix things and save money in the process are fantastic! I’m grateful that people take the time to make videos to help people out. It is then wise to enter into the business. It is a good one.

Do it yourself (DIY) videos is more famous than ever among the younger era as they do not need to spend their fortunes on matters they could do by means of themselves, plus it's far fun too. It is a trend that is turning into increasingly popular as people maintain to share their personal recommendations with others for reasonably-priced and easy-to-do matters.

True. It is very convenient, fun and easy-to-do. Nowadays, we don't have to pay big amounts of money in order to learn new things specially crafts. You can just learn by watching them and subscribing to sites then they allow you to watch their videos. Some videos are uncommon and really helpful. I specially like those how-to-do recycling videos and creative crafts from used materials.

DIY videos can save a lot of time. You can find out that most of those videos are designed to save time and get things done quickly. Something which many of us are in need in everyday life. So on that note you can see that DIY type videos and the content is definitely needed in some cases where people want to build their skills and also good for monetization.

I think skills such as in the DIY videos can be learned. it's not that difficult often times. we are limited with the items usually. like if it's fruit specific DIY, some fruits may not be available in your region and so on. So it depends on mostly the availability and then execution.

I watch a lot of DIY videos and I can say that they are very useful. I learned a lot of things and did not know that things that were almost a trash can still be used. You can save money and time by following these videos. But of course, this will still depend on you. You need to be patient in order to do this. Otherwise, you would want to have someone do this for you or just spend money.

I think we learn more from the DIY videos on the youtube than the school. Most of the time all that we learn in school is the socializing skills. And that may not be always good in case they are limited with the knowledge. So one needs to be super careful of the content.

DIY videos are awesome. Whenever I want to learn something, I always get to YouTube and search for DIY videos on whatever I want to learn.

I worked for a client who deals with woodwork, and I realized DIY videos are a good source of traffic. Also, you gain trust from viewers and visitors. If you have a site and you can make DIY videos, do not hesitate.

They are indeed very useful. Well it actually depends on how it is made. If the video is not really that specific and instructions are not clear, then it is useless for the person watching it. Me, I find video tutorials useful. I actually learned how to make bracelets and amigurumis (crochet dolls/ yarn dolls) through DIY videos. From learning the basics there, I was able to start doing more complex designs. The finished products are actually the items that I sell online. So just by watching a DIY video, I was able to earn extra money.

Yeah, you also need to be a great observer if the one showing them to you is legit and exactly knows what he's doing. I've encountered a YouTuber before who mainly talks about being a digital nomad. He mentioned something that he knows how to program but I can easily tell that he can't.

I do follow certain DIY videos on YouTube. Fortunately, it works for me because I chose to follow only what I think is possible for me to do.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Pretty much same with me. I don't follow many DIY channnels which make use of Wood, cement and other difficult stuff. The reason being I can't have those things at home. And making use of the tools for wood is not something I can try either. So it's reasonable to make use of the DIY videos which are out of my control.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It could be considered tragic, another way in which loneliness invades us, but the learning process never ceases to be social. Humans, as a species, need to share what they know, manifested in this case in DIYs. My mother, who has the top position of being the best cook I know, did not teach me directly how to cook. The strictly didactic work was delegated to YouTube, which with its countless tutorials allowed me to learn relatively elaborate recipes.

The good thing about DIY Videos is that you can save money since you can do the things on your own without the help of an expert. If you have a tight budget, you can just watch videos on Youtube and follow their instructions. Some of the videos are good since you can use some kinds of stuff that you just keep in your house. Something that you don't expect that can be used.

I really do feel that DIY videos are useful. I do watch them when I am trying to figure out various crafts. For my birthday, my husband purchased pom pom makers for me because I have been wanting to make a pom pom rug for our camper. At first, I was confused by the instructions that were provided as they were not very clear. So then I resorted to youtube and found a video. It really helped me learn how to do it. For me, watching is a lot easier sometimes than reading.

Well, there have been actually a lot of useful DIY videos that i have wathced. However it is true, that a great part of those videos are either useless or you just get dissapointed by the end product. Some of those videos are just like the lifehack videos, at the beginning you thinking that it must be something great, something interesting and useful, however in the end it turns out that you just wasted a couple of minutes. The most useful video i ever watched, was back when i was dreaming about undertaking a sanding project. In the end, there are a lot of great videos, and also some really sh*tty ones.

I can't say that their videos a completely useless. Unfortunately, I also sometimes get disappointed because of the quality of their videos and other factors that influence my point of view referred to their products. Still, there are a lot of different platforms on the internet that offer better quality content. For example, you can take a look at royalty free stock footage. They have pretty informative and well-structured videos. I am sure you wouldn't be disappointed about it.
