Holiday (Christmas) marketing?

Hi there dear community!

As we all know, a special holiday is coming up, and it's CHRISTMAS!
Have you ever given any thought on how much money do companies make during this great holiday? Usually many of them have some special discounts and offers, but there must be more to it than it seems.

I was wondering, what would be a good marketing strategy during holiday, especially on Christmas?

I've heard of businesses doing a "12 days of giveaways" program, similar to the 12 days of Christmas! I think giveaways or competitions can be a good way to drawn in new customers, but it's hard to say for sure if they actually stick around after the giveaway or competition has ended.

Anyone else given something similar a try?

We can copy the same and we get good sales. How about that?

Wow! we certainly don't have any like that. Otherwise, that would be my shopping season. Can you imagine 12 days or giveaways in a row? Well, I totally agree with you, competitions between business during a giveaway period, are definitely one of the best choices for any company. Customers would wait to spend all their savings during those days.

This is a great one. Even though you're not sure whether you'll still draw these customers after the Christmas season, it's fine. At least, for Christmas season, you'll have a guaranteed huge number of customers. Well, after Christmas, you can still think of deals that will make you customers come back. Just by the thought and hearing "giveaway", people will really take their chance.

I agree with you. Giveaways is really very powerful in attracting customers.

Customers value giveaways more and they stick to their mind in a manner that is underestimated. This is better when the product is something they can use everyday like a pen, cup. Etc.

There were some businesses that prolongs the Christmas promos' taking advantage of the hype that they got on the Christmas holidays. They are often called extended holidays promo. I think we could learn a few marketing tips as to why these businesses do this kind of promo. I think it means that there could be a merit into it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Some online websites have been doing this. Lazada and Shopee are my favorite online sites. They will be having a 12.12 discount big Christmas sale. They will be having different discounts on different items depending on the type each day until Dec. 12, 2018.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

emiaj55
Yeah, that was where I saw that. A lot of businesses do use that theme 12 days of Christmas. I guess it is because of the song.

Our network provider has this other promo. I forgot what it called, but they are giving away load promos such as free texts and calls, for 25 days til Christmas.

I am one of the many clients waiting for the 12.12 sale. I'm hoping for better deals compared to the previous sale. I have so many godchildren to give presents to.

Just a little tip. Buy from Lazada's certified sellers and those with high reviews. There had been a lot of incident roaming the social media that allegedly, they had been scammed. They do not get what was in the picture or they get a totally different thing that what they have ordered. Lazada would of course would assist you in case that these happen to you. But it you want to avoid the extra hassle, this is just a tip.

It will be bothersome to experience such a scam. I hate that some people take advantage of events like these to fool others. Thank you so much for the tip. I will be extra careful.

Really? Never heard of that. I must list the item I want to buy. Lazada and Shoppee makes it so much easier tho.

I do agree that some companies are making a lot of money by doing a 12 days of Christmas giveaway promo. It's an effective crowd drawer, here it's being done mostly by malls, restaurants and supermarkets.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Wenkx03
I think raffle promos would do. Ofcourse its christmas so it would be essential for them to buy. But I think it would catch more buyer if you have a raffle. People loves raffle or lottery right?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
@Wenkx03 I think anything that gives a chance for for people to win something can be a good incentive. People do love the chance to try their luck or potentially get something cool so I think it can be a good incentive if you're trying to boost sales.

I see this all the time. The store on my university's campus (which sells books, clothing and knickknacks branded with out mascot/colors/etc.) is running one of those "12 days" deals right now. I think it's a good idea, even if it is pretty widely used, since it falls in line with people's Holiday spirit.

This one is an excellent strategy to attract the customers. Who doesn't love giveaways? But I think it doesn't matter to them if the customers will be loyal to them after that event but still they earned something from them.

Buyers love holiday season, and on of tne reasons is the one you gave, discounts. You are right, there is more to it than it seems. Companies love to give discounts, maybe even more than the customers love buying at discounts. Repeat customers are the best customers. The idea is when you buy once and you love the experience, you will come again. That's good for business.

There's also the fact that discount sales mean more products sold. It's a good way to be rid of the old stock of goods while turning in a profit.

I agree with you. Customers would really widen their eyes te moment they hear or read "discount" on the product. Since it's Christmas, we're looking forward to saving money while spending.

Discounts definitely get my attention over the festive season. It’s a time of year that I end up having to buy a lot of gifts, and if I can save some money then it’s hugely beneficial. I think a lot of us enjoy discounts particularly at this time of year.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes it is one the common strategy among business. You can buy products for 50% off or you can buy it as buy one take.

I agree with that. They always give that promo. Specially in the goods that are essential to buy like pasta or spaghetti sauce.

Big discounts for your offers. On this season buyers are expecting for discounts from their favorite stores. Most people are actually saving their money for big holiday discounts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Big discounts will encourage bulk buying. You will make more profit this way. People will come back for more too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yup! And during this seasons you can sell products that are in the stocks for a long time buy offering them 50% discounts or more. This is also the time that you can get stocks from your suppliers at a lower price then gain more profits when you resell them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is one of the biggest sales we have here. Usually, stores take all the items that have been in stock for long, and put them on sale with up to 60% discount. People are always looking for great discounts, so they can give them as presents, and this is certainly one of the main options for those shoppers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes. During Christmas, sales are everywhere. In my workplace, we have a flash sale and clearance sale during Christmas. This is the time when people shop a lot for gifts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is the best strategy. I once tested this method by selling children clothes at discounted prices. I was making so many sales in a day, and making a lot more than my competitors.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is an irresistible offer for your customers. This is a great way to get the attention of your potential customers. When you offer big discounts, you are likely telling your customers that they can save money. A great strategy to increase your sales. If you do it on a certain period of time, people will rush to buy and sometimes end up buying not only the discounted items but also on regular prices.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
Well, customers would always want to see better deals in Christmas. We want to budget our money since we still have to buy gifts for a lot of friends, family members and godchildren. In most malls in our city, they go with 50-70% off on their items.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
A very good move really. Saving makes you buy more. You give value to yourself and the store.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Those are good deals - especially around the Christmas season where people plan to buy gifts anyway. Offering big discounts can really set you apart from your competitors!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Bravosi
Yeah, but what's interesting, is the fact that every company does a discount on Christmas to attract customers. I think it's a tradition. If one falls out then they'll simply have no customers during that period. I think customers suffer lack of income during that period.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Exactly! Discounts on products is something that is very common every Christmas season. There is always an increased sales, so sellers are looking for every opportunity to make the most sales during Christmas holidays and giving discounts is one way of getting it done.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
Big discounts offered is to attract you to buy. Some old stocked goods were bought cheaply but the price rose. Instead of having them as dead stock, give them on discount.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Another great thing about Christmas is all the deals you get from stores! Some give freebies with a certain amount of purchase I think groceries are more likely to do this, some give huge discounts up to 70% off of regular items, and then there's some that does raffle promo for their customers. I see a lot of "buy a certain amount and get a chance to win wonderful prizes" deals during Christmas.

I think Christmas marketing is not that easy. Most of the people have thought about something what they want to buy. And we have to market them something different. There are two things, things in demand and things that are trend. Anything else just don't sell.So one needs to consider Christmas as a good way to start with their approach for marketing. What worked rest of the year may not work either. So one has to be positive and hopeful about marketing.

I’m an affiliate marketer in in the fashion and beauty niche. They are so many products to promote that its confusing. I know that offers help, and it's easy to get carried away with all the offers out there. Essentially I think you need to find out what your audience is most interested in and is looking for and plan your marketing accordingly. This is the tricky part about christmas marketing. There is such a wide variety you need to choose one or a group of products and stick to them

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think fashion and beauty niche can be conquered with the influencers. So you have to be influencers for the people to take notice. Once they trust your advice. They are going to be listening to a lot of your content. And then your links may convert. That is what I have fond out to be true.

Companies that deals on food items and products, clothes, shoes, wigs, attachments, human hair etc all have increased sales during Christmas holidays because they are all products most people can't do without during Christmas holidays. Transportation companies also see lots of traffic.

I have observed that during Christmas most companies are having a lot of sales promotion to attract prospect customers to buy their items. They are giving 20-50 percent discount to selected items or others may sell some items as buy one take one. I think it is a good strategy since we all know that customers loves to buy at some promo because they can save more and have the chance to buy more products or items.

I have a Twitter shopping account and I am tweeting affiliate marketing links like mad crazy! Started at the end of November. Won't stop until the 1st week of the New Year. Also, I am going back over my blog posts to make sure the links in my articles still work properly. I found a few posts today with bad links. what a bummer! I fixed links, reposted and retweeted. Also sharing links via Facebook shopping groups. Lots of people shop via social media. So my emphasis is on an aggressive social media marketing campaign.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think randomly throwing links may work like lottery. But that may not be a good strategy. In some cases friends can share each others affiliate IDs. And that may work out. But I don't know at the end some sort of influencer type marketing approach works. Because that's how big brands seems to be earning monney these days.

Well, I think the best thing that you could offer to your customers are special discounts and freebies. Many people will be receiving their bonuses and salary during holiday, so that's a great opportunity to earn more. Also, it is like a Christmas gift given by you to them making them feel more appreciated and taken cared of.

Giving discounts and a 50% sales can entice customers to buy the products. Some entrepreneurs also planned for give aways and contests or a raffle that will more entice their customers. Its not just a small discounts but rather a big discounts.

Yeah, traffic is one of the annoying things you will encounter in your daily life especially christmas as it is just around the corner. Discounts and freebies are everywhere during or before Christmas. Theses attracts a lot of customers whether they are rich or poor. Personalized gifts are also in demand. Even though you do not put discounts on these items, people will still buy it because of its Christmas theme or decoration. There are also a lot of gimmicks like free Christmas ice cream and stuffs.

Christmas is the season for the business entities to give back to community through different promos. Though through this marketing strategy they got lesser profit because of discounts and freebies but they got them back because of great volume of consumers during this season.

One old but effective Christmas Marketing gimmick are Christmas Giveaway Raffles in which buyers will be given a raffle ticket which will be raffled off on or before the 24th of December. Giving discounts have already been mentioned but you also need to take into account the volume of sales to even everything out in the end. Parents and grandparents spend a lot of money buying gifts for children around Christmas time. During this time for those who sell anything you think parents would be buying for their kids, mark down the price of such products. This could get you more sales.

One good marketing campaign that a business can use is that to personalize their products. Christmas is a very emotional season for most of the people. Personalizing a gift to your love ones will give it a sentimental value and emotions attach to it. Businesses take advantages of this human traits specially during Christmas Season.

A lot of prominent businesses spends more on marketing when the Christmas season arrives. December is the time of the year where people have a lot of money to spend (because of bonuses) that's why they take advantage of it. And an excellent method to persuade them from buying is running discounts and promotions.

Well i think that any holiday or a celebration gives all th businesses a good opportunity to increase there sales and make good profits. All the big companies must be making huge profits especially during the Christmas days as it is celebrated all over the World. People tend to go on shopping sprees during Christmas as they have to buy gifts for there friends and family. Companies do come up with attractive offers and discounts exclusively targeting these customers and they are able to multiply there profits during the Christmas holidays.

Well, what can we say? Christmas always has that effect on people. We always want to buy gifts and presents on this season, and of course all the companies will take advantage on it. But, if we are customers, have to take the best of it and make a good sales hunt to find great deals, and if we are sellers, then make good discounts to earn a lot of money about it.

Christmas shopping is a tradition in our family. That is the time that we purchase items for gifts. It involves one whole day because of the long list of items to buy. But in this modern time that is not practical anymore so I have broken down my Christmas shopping into several days which starts in late November. It is like I am collecting items for the gifts because I shop whenever I have free time. But one week before Christmas I do the gift wrapping at home so you can imagine the time I need to wrap all those gifts.

Christmas holidays are synonymous to people spending lots of money in gifts and companies take advantage of that by coming up with promos that reward the buyers so that they feel like they are getting something for themselves while buying gifts for others. There's a mall near where I live where they have a 50% promo on items bought in the first two hours when they open. Another one give out free pricey items when you reach a certain amount while shopping if you are a member of their rewards club.
