Relaxation techniques can reduce stress symptoms and help you enjoy a better quality of life! Relaxation is a process that decreases the effects of stress on your mind and body. Im sure when life gets crazy and we get hit with a bunch of things all at once, our relaxation techniques get put at the bottom of our lists.

Here are some ways to relax and reduce stress...
Deep breathing
Hypnosis
Massage
Meditation
Tai chi (Chinese martial arts and form of meditative exercise)
Yoga
Music and art therapy

Along with those here are some other techniques:
Autogenic relaxtion (You repeat words or suggestions in your mind to relax and reduce muscle tension)
Progessive muscle relaxtion (In this one, you focus on slowly tensing and then relaxing each muscle group)
Visualization (you form mental images to take a visual journey to a peaceful, calming place or situation)

Cant wait to try some of these techniques to help lessen my stress and help focus on my mental health! Hope you all enjoy!

Thanks Ermini! I'm not one of those people that gets easily stressed out by things. In fact, in certain situations I thrive on it! Stress isn't a bad thing but it only is if you don't know how to handle and deal with it and don't know how to relax at the end of the day. A lot of people are like this and don't know how to handle stressful situations. Some people resort to taking medication for it, some people resort to taking drugs! Some of those other things you've mentioned can help though. Meditating is good but you have to know how to properly meditate. Music is the best thing for me though! I find it an excellent release at the end of the day. It helps me focus and let go of the days worries.

    Music is all you need!

Music is the key to equilibrium!

Ermini2 I do something for stress relief that really helps me so much. It is a mediation of sorts I guess?

Lie flat on your back, close your eyes and try to relax for a while, let your mind drift. After about 5 minutes focus on your body, where the stress is. See if you can find where you are holding your stress.

Then start right at the top of your body bit by bit with tensing and then relaxing.

So make your whole body relaxed and then scrunch up your forehead, your eyes, your ears and mouth as tight as you can and hold it there for a while and really feel it. Then relax it.

Then focus on just your shoulders, tense them up and hold it there... then release.

Do this all the way down your body finishing with your toes.

Afterwards feel what a difference that makes to your body and your mind

Well when it comes to stress my life is affected by it on a daily basis. I have so much going on in terms of business and family stuff that i cannot avoid being stressed out everyday. Some days it causes chest pains and other things. I do not know how to properly cope with my stress and its hard to find time to unwind and relax. I need to try some of these things because if i don't do something im going to die of a heart attack by the time im 30. Every little thing gets to me and i have really bad days and can go into a violent rage if it gets super bad. I also have anger issues so both hand in hand are the recipe for disaster. I have this bad pain in my chest i know its a muscle thing so im going to try a muscle relaxing technique tonight. Thank you for sharing this one will really help me.

The ever cool and most professional Mr Jkeyz fly into a violent rage? Never! I can't imagine it mate! I learned from an early age growing up in a tough home with older brothers that were always fighting and rowing not to let it effect me. I had no choice really, it was that or the alternative. Or maybe I was just a little different to them. But I could either f and blime and shout and slam doors too, or I could just walk out the room, grab some air, and think about how I can safely kill them all while making it look like suicide or something. lol. No, but seriously, sometimes I wanted to when there was just no getting through to them. I've always been quite a laid back chilled out person anyway. But that sort of helped me learn how to deal with stressful situations. Even if it was just going to sit in a dark room or hide in the cupboard or under the stairs for 20 minutes lol

I always feel guilty if I get too angry and shout at people or raise my voice at them. It makes me realize that there isn't any need for it and it's all in my head. I am (you are) my/your own master and I wont let the sun go down on my anger for anyone. Especially if they're not worth it. Unruly kids don't count lol ;)

Thanks for this post. I am very stressed by work and doing home chores but I see to it that I give myself a time to take a nap and relax a little bit after work. When I am watching tv to relax, what happens is I get more stressed by the programs in tv now. So I refrain from watching long hours of tv series and movie to lessen stress.

This is definitely a good tips on how to relax and relieve oneself of stress. I basically take up meditation, massage, music and yoga in my bid to have complete relaxed mind with little or no stress at all.

Long stress if not controlled or managed might end up being very bad for ones health. It would give one an unending migraines which would cause serious hallucinations in some serious cases. So I definitely admonish people to try and get involved in stuffs that helps relive you of stress of body and mind.

I think Meditation and relaxation apps are the best approach here. You can try some of the apps like Maya Mindfulness and Calm. Those two apps are good enough in many ways. You can see that there are times when such apps can be used to get the stress off. Always keep yourself into the mood of the "mindfulness". Remember where you are and what you're going to do. And that's how you're going to get to solve the problem.

I think it takes time to reduce the stress. But with the cognitive behavior therapy and the mindfulness. And that's the thing about the part where to reducing stress is something one can see. So take slowly and one thing at a time.

Thank you for the tips you given. I will definitely try this. I always have a stress due to work and my transportation because my house is far from my work. With this, I hope I find my solution to my problem about stress. And I will try to tell this kind of relaxation to somebody who needs it.

I have tried meditation, massage and yoga and can say that they work wonders. However I don't really have much time for yoga now. I listen to meditating music mostly everyday. This helps me feel relaxed and also helps to clear my mind. The good thing is that there are so many meditating music which one can download for free from the internet. Moreover there are also many self guided meditation videos available on YouTube.

Making art can be so therapeutic. I also find that yoga helps me to de-stress; and I really love the physical aspect of it. Deep breathing helps me when I am in the situation, yoga is preventative, and art therapy helps with processing feelings.
