5 Ways Your Dog Says "I Love You"

Obviously dogs can't talk and aren't able to tell us things, especially things like saying "i love you" to their owner. Dogs actually show affection to their owners by doing other things rather than talking! LOL I have a list of 5 ways that dogs show affection towards their owners.

1. Playing around and roughhousing with you! I'm sure them wanting to play and wrestle with you doesn't always come at the right time, but this is their natural way to play! Wrestling with your dog is fun and certainly safe to do, it also helps strengthen your relationship.

2. Sleeping with you. Their natural instinct is to be huddled up especially when sleeping because it helps them feel warm and safe. It also shows that your dog just wants to be near you and is their way of saying they feel comfortable and views you as family.

3. Jumping on you. This type of behavior is frowned upon especially with big dogs! But this actually another way that dogs show their affection for someone they like!

4. Wagging their tails. I'm sure we all know that not all tail wagging means that a dog is happy but it is generally displayed as such. If your dog is wagging their tail and their body language is screaming sign of excitement and comfort. its probably easy to say your dog is extremely happy when you're around.

5. Following you around. Dogs tend to follow their owners around because they know you are their source of food and water and treats. But dogs are pack animals and like being with their families and following you around is just another reassurance that your dog likes to be around and loves you!!

How cool huh? I had no idea that jumping was a sign of affection for dogs! thats interesting! Hope you guys enjoyed this one and learned some stuff you didnt already know! As always thank you for reading!!!!

We all know i love dogs even though sometimes my dogs can be hardheaded like the kids. I always knew that dogs had feelings and they expressed them by crying, or barking. You have really opened up my eyes to many other ways that my little guys can express themselves. I also wanted to add that some dogs may be wagging their tails in anxiety or when they are about to attack you. I can see how a dog could be showing affection by jumping on you but some dogs are just way to big for example Bailey. She is not even half way to being full grown and she is already almost 5 foot tall on hind legs. If she ran and jumped on me and i wasn't ready for it she would knock me down and you know what comes next? Lick after lick to the face until i can finally get up. Number one on your list is another one i did now know but i had a feeling that it worked in that way. I always thought if dogs play fight and you play with your dog in the same way minus biting, they will feel more closer to you. Great video Mike point proven buahahahaha! Perfect topic for any new dog owner or people who have owned dogs for years like me.

yes! because some new dog owners seem to get dogs to have as part of their family but in some of those families the pets kind of don't get as much attention because , well, life gets busy and it gets busy fast, kids, work, school activities, taking care of the house. and sometimes these dog owners have no idea how their pet is expressing themselves to their owners. you know, that of behavior like jumping isn't tolerated with alot of people and families but now knowing that, that is how they show affection it will be easier to understand why it may be a difficult behavior to correct.

Bailey is really big and it amazes me every day because she still is really young!! I have been so used to having small dog breads growing up that even at her size now, shes a big dog to me! LOL its ok though because she is going to be a huge teddy bear with a mean bark and she is going to be amazingly loyal!! once she grows out of that stubbornness stage of her puppy days, training her to do new things will be easier! .....i hope! ;]

thank you for responding jkeyz!

How about if they bark on your when you come home? Probably a hungry dog? 5 Ways Your Dog Says "I Love You" Kidding aside, all of those that you have mentioned are correct and anyone who owns a dog would probably understand that. The most special thing me and my dog did before was when he hops in my bed while I am sleeping and he would sleep beside me. So cute. <3

Well, according to those signs my dog really loves me, because he does all of them. He also is very attached to me when I'm sick, he comes and check me around, like wanting to be sure I'm fine. He is also very jealous, and don't let strangers come close to me unless I tell him to let them come. The only issue I have, is that he loves to grab my stuff like sandals or socks, and take them to his bed or place to sleep with them, so basically when I can't find something then I know for sure he has it.

My dog is also like that. Whenever I am sad or he notice me crying, he will come near me and smells me as if he wanted to comfort me. He also jealous with other dogs whenever we touch other dogs or cat. It doesn't matter how big the dog is, he will still want to bark that dog or trying to fight. Dogs are like 3 years old kid and they are like our babies or younger brother and a member of a family. I really love my dog.

This is so nice. I have read about it not that long ago and all these signs are true. My dog does most of them and when I sit with her she wants to wrestle with me as she starts to bite my arms and hands without hurting me. She's a rescued dog and has been with us for two months already but I think she started to like us really early on which is very cool, she's constantly showing us affection and she won our hearts super fast.

I pretty much know of these dogs behavior in showing you signs of love and affection especially in wagging of tails and jumping around all over your body, falling on the ground easily etc.

Nice post by the way, although anyone who stays around dogs would easily understand these dogs behaviors and what they meant.

Yes I agree with you dogs are man’s best friend so many kind of gestures dogs would do to share their affection and love. The signs are very subtle and they’re not always obvious, all you need to know are the tiny signs that prove your dog’s love for you… Staring directly into your eyes. Yawning when you yawn. Dogs, because they’ve been bred to read humans, also yawn when someone they love yawns. Leaning on you. leaning is also a symbol of affection. Cuddling with you after a meal. Lifting and wiggling eyebrows. We think we can read a dog by its tail, but its facial expressions are a way
more powerful indicator.

Spot on , those are the little things my dogs do and I know they're trying to show love but I restrict the one of wanting to sleep with me, I don't really like that.I pray and talk with them and it has been an exciting thing to do.

Obviously this how dogs show their love to us owners, all what is listed above is exactly true but i know there are some ways how they show their love to us. I felt it all from my pet the way it jumps towards me like he want to hug me, Wagging its tales everytime i go home and wagging is their way also to say thank you and you will notice it everytime you feed them, he also follow me everywhere i go most of the time and sleeps together with him. I love having a pet. Aside of being cute and entertaining, they help us protect us from harm like thief and harmful insects like snakes.

I am a dog owner and I take interest in understanding how animals with limited communication skills communicate with a human with verbal communication ability. When my dog wants to show his love, he will jump over me, lick my face, sometimes even nibble on my skin. When my dog is hungry wants to grab my attention, he will bark softly, stamps his feet. It is very interesting to watch a dog communicate with the master.

Yes you are right. We also have a dog named "Pony". He really loves my father as he always wanted to follow and go with him everywhere except when he goes to work ( He knows it when my father go to work). He always beg for food from my father whenever he's hungry. I know he also loves us that much but he has greater love for my father even if the one who brought him was my brother. He wags his tail whenever one of us goes near him. When I get angry with him he will look in my eyes and come closer to me as if his trying to tell me "sorry" and he wanted me to hug him.

This is such a sweet reminder. Our dog always sleeps on our bed, in between my husband and I! I figured he enjoyed the warmth but it's sweet to know that it's even more than that! I can't imagine a life without our dog - he's such a big part of our family and we love him so much.

Aw, I'm melting. I didn't know that when following the owner is a way of showing their love. At the beginning I got so nervous when he was doing that, it felt like I'm tripping over him. Also, I really love coming home and finding my doggie in front of the door wagging his tail. It's so cute. For this reason, we also should manifest our love for them. You already know that they become happy from minor things, but they also get excited when they get new toys. I prefer healthy toys for my buddy, that I order from this page https://aceantlers.com/products/deer-antler-dog-chew . You have to try them because it maintains their teeth clean while providing them calcium and other vitamins.

Yes, It's something special when you can understand that a dog loves you. I have a husky and me and my kids
love it. But sometimes I don't understand if he loves us the way we love him, sometimes I am afraid for my kids, and my biggest question for you is are huskies good with kids ? But I am trusting the idea that dogs are very devoted and love their owners. Maybe someone will help me find the answer to my
question. Have a nice day.
