I just found and come across this easy DIY light bulb aquarium on Pinterest (yeah I know, but I love Pinterest for so many reasons like this).
I just thought these DIY light bulb aquariums looked really cool and although they would make a great Christmas gift present idea, (since hand/home made stuff is better) and Christmas is over now. Well you could always learn to make them for next year? Or just give them to someone as a present or just make them for yourself?
Easy DIY Light Bulb Aquariums

Now to make these, you will need a certain type of light bulb. They have to be the types that have caps that screw off. You can find these in most hardware stores. And the rocks and pebbles can be found from any beach or arts and crafts store. Obviously you wouldn't fill them with real sea creatures. But you can drop in a small plastic seahorse or a couple colored crabs or some starfish or something.
You can drop in some Marimo moss balls as well but they can make the water go a little murky. If you use them, you'll need to replace the water every 2 weeks or so which isn't always practical when you just want it to look nice on your shelf.
Still, the good thing about these bulbs is that they have a flat bottom so that you can stand them up. They're fairly water tight as well once the cap has been screwed back on. However I would suggest using a little glue like PVA glue around the top just for that extra water tightness protection.
These DIY light bulb aquariums are very cool looking and a great arts and crafts thing to do with your kids or even for yourself! You could even sell these on here! Just create them, take some pictures of them, then list them for sale on here.
Obviously you would send them without water in them. Then when the buyer receives them they can then fill them up with water and they're good to go!
Have you ever made a light bulb aquarium?

I would imagine so much care would have to go into something like this though. Light bulbs are so fragile and being able to create something like this would take a lot of patience and a very steady hand. Unfortunately I don't have a very steady hand so something like this I would have to leave up to someone else which is a shame however I do like the idea and they are very different! These look amazing! You say about them being ideal for Christmas and I agree but what about for say Easter as well? You could probably adapt them for Easter and make them for Easter gifts instead of Candy, it would be something different and unique with it being hand made and would have more meaning to it.
