Did writing helped you overcome something?

Sometimes writing can be our wall where we lean and release our unwanted emotions. Personally, writing helped me coped up with depression, so I wonder if there are people like me who use pen as sword and words as bullets to protect their self from self harm.

No, I've never used writing for that purpose. I have had low periods in my life like losing my loved ones one after the other and getting sick at the same time but I never turned to writing to take me out of the sadness and depression. I cried it out and let my heart feel the pain because my loved ones deserved to be mourned. For me, writing is a job or a profession but it's not a crutch, a friend, or a sister/brother that I can run to. Writing is something that helps me financially though.

Yea true but writing also help you to turn your feelings into reality, for instance while experiencing those things in life if you have put it into writing you would have help someone who may be experiencing the same thing but your way of surviving it can also help the person too.

I agree with you, sometimes its not just helping yourself sometimes you also help other people. the readers. There are times like you are writing what you've learn in life in a literary way and readers will learn from your experience.

Yes, it's helped me with understanding my emotions. Sometimes you're overpowered by a sense of confusion and sadness. There's an ambiguous mixture of feelings within you. Writing how I felt encouraged me to embrace discomfort and uncertainty.

I've found that the biggest challenge lies in honesty to one's self. We are constantly surrounded by things beyond our control. We like to assume that somehow we're able to influence the outcome. And, to some extent, we do. But it's never enough to fully satisfy our need for control.

So much of this world is governed by change and impermanence. The simple truth is that death is inevitable. So instead of continuously stressing myself out over stuff, I find it better to live each day. One at a time.

That is right. Writing has big help to us in times that we need something to refresh our minds. It helps us to think something outside the box. I love writing as much as reading and these two makes me feel good.

Writing gives so much value to our lives. It helps us painful truths and learn from them. We also see the beauty beyond our reach. Like the joys of the afterlife and goodness within the world we live in.

It allows us to communicate our thoughts and share them with others. That way, they too may experience how we felt to some degree.

Sometimes I love to write things that is happening to my life. It is like a diary. I like to make a journal on it and keep it. I know diary has been like old stuff but I feel like I am more comfortable if I write it down in it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Me too. I also prefer a diary more than a journal. It feels more intimate and detailed. Journals are more like elaborating on experiences and stuff.

Though, my handwriting's not so good. So I wouldn't want others to read it. It's embarrassing.

I find writing as my escape to this, sometimes, cruel world. Whenever I am stressed out about something and I can't just easily deal with it, I will get some paper and pencil and write about it. I kept a journal before, and that's where I burst out my emotions that I can't handle by my own. I can say it is really effective for me, since after writing it down, I feel so relieved and comforted.

This is actually something which has made many people very famous as great authors and creators. They create stories to escape the daily stresses which then end up becoming bestsellers when they do it really well.

Part of being human is our emotions. We're often forced to keep it to ourselves for fear of the consequences. But they're necessary for improving the quality of our lives. Writing helps our express them in a positive and meaningful way.

We're able to release them without hurting others. We might even help those going through similar hardships through our writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's great. I've also felt better after writing what I felt. Keeping to ourselves doesn't help with what we feel. So one way of relieving tension is to write it on a piece of paper. Handwritten letters to yourself can do wonders.

Writing is one of the ways that I always kill off boredom. I have actually been lonely for years and not finding how to solve it. Sometimes, I can play games on my gaming console, but it didn't solve the issue as expected. However, I have come to realize that writing is fun and a way to connect with people from around the globe.

Having a chance to know more people is a good thing to enhance more of your communication skills. You can widely express youe emotions and feelings throuhh writing. Not necessarily overcome something as such, but it has helped me emotionally through a lot of things. I'm someone that tends to bottle up my feelings a lot, and writing is often my outlet for that.

Writing for me is therapeutic, calming, and relaxing. So I guess all those things help with things like anxiety or stress.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah, writing is always that channel that we can use to let some things out. I have always looked at life from this angle where we should focus on ensuring that everything that we write is about how we feel about some situations as well. I always write when I have something that is very important for me to discuss about.

Personally I don't ever use writing to help me cope with any stressful situations. Most of my writing involves creating real estate related articles. Certainly not the kind of stuff that would be considered a relaxant.

Nonetheless it is believed that writing can be therapeutic. And people dealing with depression and other related mental illnesses are for that reason advised to keep a journal because writing about their day, how they felt, etc can help unwind. So maybe one day in future I just might get into journaling.

Yes it did overcome something...pizza expenses. Eversince I started working as a Freelance writer my income is paying for all the pizza we've been ordering. Usually we order pizzas on weekends, Friday and Sunday nights and every Wednesday during weekdays. That's 2 big pies per order that cost php799 or $16. I've been spending $48 for pizza weekly for the past year thanks to writing gigs.

Writing is a form of expression of an individual's feeling. When I was stressed because of the pressure high school gave me I wrote a letter addressing how I was doing and only open it when I begin college. I reached college and opened the letter and it made me feel better wondering why I was so worried back then and that everything turned out all right.

Writing helped me overcome stress from work. My work then was very stressful and there's a lot of pressure coming my way on a daily basis. I got sick and while I was recuperating I tried writing again. I think it was a good decision on my part because eversince I started my part-time freelance writing career my stress level dropped and I'm healthier and happier now. I think I don't remember overcoming something by writing. It does help the ideas get out of the head. Writing helped me to overcome financial problems like when I had to buy a new smartphone after a year of not having one because my old smartphone got broken from falling. Writing has helped me a lot in keeping my mind active. I also have a segment in my journal where I write what I'm thankful for everyday. There are days when everything is just not going right but being reminded that I have to write there makes me calm down and find something to be grateful for. Writing certainly makes me feel better especially when I am stressed and feel like I want to tell someone something. Psychologically it helps one to release tension as we are doing "mind exercise" while we are mentally thinking and arranging the words and sentences to make our stories understandable and interesting to the readers. This also helps me to sharpen my writing and critical thinking skills.

I myself actually deal with depression and anxiety on a daily basis. Every day is battle between the negative and positive thoughts in my head. Anyone with depression and anxiety knows what it’s like. You have these irrational, negative thoughts that just make your daily life miserable. You try your best to think logically, but it feels like you just don’t have control over your emotions.

Writing has helped me a lot because when I focus on writing something, I feel like I finally have control over the way I think. When I'm putting my thoughts on paper, I feel like there isn’t any room for negative impulses to sneak their way in.
