Work Local or Abroad?

Work Local or Abroad?

Here in the Philippines, the salary is so low that you can't cover up your everyday expenses. I hear a lot about my co-workers who wanted to go abroad since the pay is high. Maybe that also depends on your profession. Would you prefer working local or abroad? If abroad, what countries would you love to go and work?

I would like to stay here in the Philippines. I can't afford to work abroad and leave my family for much higher salary. Going abroad doesn't guarantee you to have a bright future of your job but here in local, anytime there is a family that awaits you everyday no matter what.

That is actually true that if you have your family waiting for you every day when you come home, it makes every problem go away. I know that for me personally family is the most important.

But on the other hand you have to know that some people are sort of forced to go work abroad to be able to feed their children. It isn't necessarily their personal preference.

Yeah that's right I really admire those people who are willing to sacrifice for their family. They go abroad and find a good job with high salary. Leaving your family is very hard to do especially if you still have a little child for you to take care, the most painful feeling when you come home, your child don't recognize you anymore.

I am considering about the situation with your relationship with your family, too. There are just "what ifs" when things like this arise. Especially when in financial crisis. You can't help but think about it, too, before you go and live on the streets.
I am also proud with the OFWs because of their determination. I have an uncle who lived in Canada with his family and I could say that it is not easy for them everyday. They have to work day and night just to have a shelter and food. I don't want to pity them but there is this urge in me to help them out and tell them to stop and come back here in the Philippines.

Indeed, you must have the courage to go abroad because it could be a big risk not only for you but also for your family. It scares the hell of me a lot especially when I hear news on TV about abused OFWs. Somehow, a lot of people also succeed in other countries. I guess, it also depends on your hard-work and perseverance. If you feel that it's not for you then don't. We should be wise in every decision that we make.

I guess people who do this feel like they have no choice but to leave their family to provide better lives for them. I mean who would leave their own country and people that they love if they think that there are any other option right? I look up to these kind of people since despite knowing they might possibly put their lives in danger, they still put their lives at risk just for the future of their family.

I totally agree with you. They are our modern day heroes. My father has been an OFW in Saudi Arabia when I was a kid. After my mom gave birth to me, the next day, it was the date of his flight. I just get to see my dad twice a year and just decided to stay here in the Philippines when I was already 15 years old. The effect was that we were not close to each other when he's already here. I guess he sacrificed a lot and now I am realizing that that decision he made before was not so easy at all.

I know what you mean.I'm just truly blessed that my parents don't have to work abroad but I have friends whose fathers are seafarers and I can see how different their relationships are with their dads compared to me with mine. I can't imagine not growing up without my dad beside because not only was he my rock, he was also my life and relationship guru.

I feel sad whenever my best friend talks to me about her wanting to get closer to her dad but couldn't because there's just this barrier between them. She truly appreciates the sacrifices he did for them and whenever he's home, she wants to bond with him and she knows he really wants that too. The thing is she just can't talk freely, she freezes up when she's with him.

You make a very great point here which I severely overlooked. I consider myself lucky that I have not had to take another job somewhere overseas or even far away from my family in my own country. I admire and sympathize with those who have to make this kind of sacrifice in order to support their loved ones. That must be so terribly tough to do.

Thank you for appreciating my ideas. I guess people who have not experienced this cannot really relate nor truly understand the negative things that this entail not only for the whole family, but for each and every individual members. It is tough yes, but like what I always say, one has got to do what one has got to do. If you believe that leaving to work abroad would be what's best for your family, won't you do it too despite knowing the hardships you'd face?

Hello fellow Filipino!
You got a good question there. I prefer to stay here in the Philippines. I don't look at the gross income. It's tricky. I always take the purchasing power into consideration, if it can really cover my expenses. A lot of us think that working abroad will solve our financial needs/problems because the salary looks high. They don't realize that it won't guarantee higher purchasing power. Yes you will earn, let's say in US dollars but you will also spend in dollars, which means your ratio is still 1:1.

My mom told me a story about her friends who work in London. Imagine, they earn in pounds, that is higher than US dollars and yet money is still an issue. Each time they take a vacation here, they will buy a one year supply of groceries here because they can't afford it in London. We have to face the reality that employment nowadays really doesn't offer much decent pay. Low labor cost is what they use to entice more clients.

I am currently on a business venture where I earn in dollars. I don't need to leave my family. I earn in dollars while I only spend in pesos. It's just a matter of finding opportunities. Don't limit yourself with employment. Just find an opportunity where you don't have to work abroad and enjoy life with your loved ones.

Definitely. It's a lost cause if you won't be practical in all your ways. Sometimes you gotta learn the hard way to help you on your career. I am glad that you have found a good business.

Such a very inspiring and motivational comment. I really love what you are fighting for. I am a Filipino also and my girlfriend works abroad she always telling me to go follow her for work. But i am worrying about my family, i want to enjoy staying with my family especially to my parents to avoid regrets. I am not saying that working abroad is bad, well it will still depend in the financial situation of a person. If you can go there why not? it is an opportunity. Now it makes me think twice and wise if i will follow or stay at my country for good. Yes There is an opportunity here in Philippines where you can earn dollars and i know it is an online job. So why should i? But i love my girlfriend and i want to help my family in financial purposes and to make hem proud. It is really hard to decide what is best.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I myself, having second thoughts of working abroad. We, Filipinos have strong family ties. We always think our loved ones before ourselves. (sometimes it's good sometimes it's not) it's in our blood.Having said this, It's difficult to take the risk and work outside the country to earn more and you're not sure of what might be the situation awaits you in the foreign land. Personally, follow your gut feeling. Whatever decision you'll come up with, always think the pros and cons.

There are many opportunities abroad but I don't think I can survive without my family.
I prefer working local even though the salary is not big. I believe that time is the most precious thing we can't never go back. I don't know what will happen for years when I'm not with them. Yes, I can buy them the things they want when I work abroad but the bond that we have before might be lost.

I guess that is what a lot of people miss about working locally. But then you have to consider the fact that you can probably give your family and yourself a better life then it may be better to work abroad. It just allows you to earn much more and thus be able to afford a better lifestyle for yourself and even your family.

I feel the same way. As an English teacher, I could teach in many far east countries, and I would love that experience, but I am in my forties and have a girlfriend who I love and a six year old daughter. I am not willing to leave them to go abroad, and I can't really afford to take them with me, so I guess the closing thing that I will get to "working abroad" is what I do here on the web.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I can really relate to what you mean. Just imagining leaving my family and working far from them really brakes my heart. Sometimes though, people just got to do what they go to do, if they believe that by doing so, they can make their family as comfortable as they can possibly be financially. There are just some jobs that the pay locally can't even reach the half of what is offered abroad.

I have always wanted to visit the Philippines, actually. I am curious about the food and the culture there. I totally understand your perspective regarding family and staying close to home. I think that that is really cool, and being grounded like that must feel good.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

lovefoxycharms
You are welcome to visit the Philippines, Joe! I am pretty sure that you'll like it here. There's pretty much food everywhere you go! If you are a foodie, then this is the right place for you! And if you are also a beach bum, this could be paradise for you!

Anyway, I also wish to go abroad just to experience winter! LOL I would not like to work in another country though unless I will be immigrating with my whole family. I just can't afford not seeing my child grow up. I guess, Filipinos like me are very family-oriented.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SirenOnFire
You should visit here! Not only do we have good food and interesting culture, we have awesome beaches too. You'll find a lot of new things you can try here that there will just be no place for boredom.

I guess our culture as being extremely family oriented is one of the reasons that many of us would selflessly sacrifice the comforts of our home and leave for other countries to work. It's to sustain our family, give better opportunities for them, and provide with the best financial support we can possibly off. There's no doubt that it would be hard and lonely, but for our family, we'll do it.

I would feel the same way. I think leaving your country and family behind is a huge sacrifice so the job should be worth it if you are to consider going abroad. I have a lot of friends who decided to leave and they seem to be doing well, but they always tell me how much they miss home. I myself am not that attached to being around my family and country, but nowadays when I can work from home and find employers abroad doing online work, I find it less necessary to leave.

Agreed. I still prefer to work locally. I'm also here in the Philippines. If you're planning to work abroad, you can earn more than local but are you ready to feel homesick, not able to attend any event with your family or friends, not with them all the time. You have to sacrifice a lot of things for the greater good.

I live in the United States and I often dreamed about working in England. They seem to have a much more laidback lifestyle then here in the USA. Because everything in the USA is about rushing, rush to work, rush to get the work done and then rush home, rush dinner and then it's time for bed!

That's kind of funny because you know what? Filipinos' dream is to work and live in the USA but the ones in the USA do not want to stay there. Like you, you want to live in another country. Work Local or Abroad? Perhaps there are lots of reasons behind this. Or maybe it depends on what your nationality is?

I think that's how it works today. Like me though, I wake up 6 am in the morning and be ready for work then I'll arrive at home around 7 pm. Since I still live with my family I'll only eat then go to my room. That's how it works every day. But that depends on you if you want to have a different one. If you really love what you're doing you won't complain. THat will really depend on how you see things.

USA is lot better in terms of the state benefits. Also the lifestyle is lot better in USA. England on the other hand has more security issues. And the worst part it is more expensive for typical things which are lot cheaper in US e.g. food and travel. Also the cost of the land is lot cheaper in US than in england.

I agree! Filipinos love their family so much and it takes great sacrifice to leave them to work abroad. However, admit it or not, working abroad offers good opportunity to earn a higher salary. Most Filipinos can sacrifice to be away from their families so that they can give a better future for them. All you need is courage, hard work, and prayers to be successful working in a different country. I really admire our OFWs. I also aspire to work abroad in the near future. Work Local or Abroad?

Well said you are not sure what will be your fortune in abroad so better to stay with your family. The feeling of being in touch personally with them is best than to be in abroad. I know how it feels of being away from your love ones. Sometimes you need to cry just to lessen the feeling of missing your love ones. One thing also is it will cost you money.

I like the fact that you place great emphasis on your family. A lot of people have forgotten the importance and value of having your family around you, as well as how much your own presence must mean to them. I don't think I could ever leave my family just so I could make more money.

And you're exactly right that just because you go work abroad doesn't mean that you're guaranteed success. The fact is that finding work and having livable wages is a worldwide issues. If people who are local to an area are having trouble finding work, how likely is it that a foreigner will be able to?

It's important to try and make the best of the situation we are currently in.

Everything depends on how we can handle everything in our country. If we have small salaries and we can't take care of our family and us, so we need to do something in order to solve this major problem. The best way to solve this problem is to go abroad where you can have more money and more success. I am living in a poor country, once I found costoflivingreports.com on the internet and I started to think about moving to another country. So, now I am in another country and I make much more money, I can feed myself abroad and my family at home. I am very happy now.

I've always wanted to move to New York, and finally, my dream almost came true. I am moving from the province to a big city, where I will study at the University. The most interesting thing is that this is a rather spontaneous decision because just a month ago my father was offered a great position in New York and now New York Moving Company helps us pack all our furniture and suitcases. In just a week, I'll be living in New York. My dream has come true!

I think it's different in different situations. For example, on a job interview may ask do you use drugs. It is clear that a person will say “no”. But in fact, this is not the case. And while working, he just won't show it. And it will not cause doubts in the employer. A person can lie and say that they have work experience. But in fact, he is getting a job for the first time in his life. Although my brother never lied in jobs interviews unlike me. When the employer asked which College he graduated from, he said he was still takes courses on https://weldingnearyou.com/california/. But he was hired.

Pandooh,
I live here in Philippines too. I want to share with you my experience. When I was 23 years old, I received a job offer from a big company in Dubai. It was an office work and they offer me $700 monthly salary plus free medical and dental check up annually with free vitamins and free ticket back and forth every two years if I will go home in the Philippines. It was year 2004 and that time salary like that was a huge amount already. But despite of that opportunity, I reject the offer because I don't want to leave my family and I suggest to the company to offer the job to my best friend instead of me. My best friend accept the job offer then after 10 years, she was able to fully paid her house and lot plus she have savings in the bank. Sometimes I am thinking that it should be me not her it was offer to me first before her but it was too late to regret. If only I could turn back time I will take that chance.

Yes it's true that most of the job here in the Philippines is low or in a minimum wage that's why a lot of Filipino's went abroad to work. Although my current salary can cover up all the expenses but I only get small amount left for bank savings.

For now I don't want to go abroad without my family. I am working hard to save money and I am planning to migrate in Canada. Although I cannot guarantee that I can have an easy life there because I know the cost of living in Canada is expensive and the tax is high so I need to work overtime. What I go after in that place is the education system that I know my children would benefits and hospitalization is free. I'm not saying that Philippines is bad for living. I still have good life here it just so happen that the quality of life that I am aiming, I know I can't have it in here.

My short term goal in like five to ten years is to work here in the Philippines. I want to contribute something valuable to this country's progress particularly on energy development. I just can't stop imagining myself living there walking by the seashore. My feet sinking in the wet sand. The cold ocean water hitting my feet. The fresh air whipping pass my body and making my hair flow. Planning to visit Tauranaga next year.

Hi! Although it is factual that New Zealand has great pastures but what 'greener pasture' really meant as a phrase is better or more interesting kind of living. It's not the literal meaning of pasture. I hope this somehow clarifies confusions.

To add, when I was a kid, I was fond of reading and scanning encyclopedias and most of the time looking for some pictures of different countries or places. I would never forget the feeling of how much I was psyched of getting into New Zealand someday. I was in love of pictures of places there. Second to it was the Netherlands.

While growing up, I was still hoping to go there but just for vacation.y aforementioned countries are for me best streamlines my ideals in my profession and life goals as of the moment.

I am happy to hear that you want to contribute to progress in your country. I wish that my peers would feel the same way about my country.

The majority of youth and people my age have been leaving the country in search of greater wealth and economic prosperity. While I can understand why someone would be motivated to do so, I don't think they realize that in many ways they are contributing to the problem.

A country needs people who are intelligent, hard working, and motivated in order to develop its economy. If they just run without even trying, they're basically abandoning a ship because you think it's going to sink, rather than helping to patch up the holes and keep it afloat.

Salaries in the developed countries tend to be higher than those in the developing countries but the standard of living in the developed countries is also higher compared to the standard of living in the developing countries. So if you were to go abroad, you'll first have to take this into consideration. You may end up spending almost all the money you earn with little left for holidays and savings.

I am living in Malaysia. The exchange rate between Malaysia and Singapore is a big gap. SGD $1 = RM 3.15
That means every SGD$1000 I earn , I could have RM 3150, that is a HUGE salary. I would rather work in SIngapore if I could but according to my age in my mid forties, I could get those low salary jobs but I am worried about the expenses and lodging . That is why I am reconsidering now.

Man, if that's a big gap for you? Then it's a gigantic gap for our country's exchange rate, SGD $1 = 37.76 Pesos. I'll be earning a lot if I ever got the chance to work in that country even for a year or two. I'm just 20 years old so I'm really planning on going abroad in the future. Its just that I don't think I'll be rich by just working here in the Philippines. As for the cost of living to whatever country I'm going to? it doesn't matter really because I can just live by eating cheap foods that can get my stomach full. Because everything has a price, if it cost me to give up my eating habits and other stuffs like playing around, drinking liquors, going to malls, or any other stuffs. Then be it, because I'll do whatever I can just to give my family a good life.

I agree with you here on this one, you need not follow the footsteps of your siblings. Also If you are to take care of your parents, then there's no doubt that you will have to be on your local country for that to happen. Plus you have all your siblings working abroad, why not make a name for yourself locally for a change. Anyway that is my opinion, kudos to you for thinking like that.

That's a great thing to do. But it's important to realise that you also need to further your life and career. If your parents are happy then it may be a good idea for you to move somewhere as well and earn much more money. That way you could even share some with your parents back home and help them to live well. You and your parents are probably a lot better off with you making a lot more money.

Your post makes sense some people choose to live and work to their own country to serve their countrymen. Racist are everywhere even here in my country I saw others bullied Indian who live here. I would really prefer to work abroad, no doubt about it for as long as the offer is really alluring. Because with the salary I'm having now in the Philippines is really far from what I need to give my family the good life they want. it's not that I'm underpaid or something, it's just not enough. So going abroad is really on my checklist in the future, even if it takes about 5-10 years. it's alright for as long as I can give my family the luxurious life they wanted long ago. Also for my own family in the future. I'll will really give it my best to give them a comfortable life whether it's here in the Philippines or abroad.

Who wouldn't want that.. a luxurious life that you can give to your family. But in third-world countries, that will be quite a challenge. If you don't wanna study and work a job that requires a lot of time dedication, you can always go work abroad and earn a lot of money by doing simpler things, well at least ones that won't require you to dedicate years of your life to study them.

I've always had this question at the back of my mind. But the answer is I will never leave my family for some fortune. The pressence of someone so dear to you can't be paid by money. And I know working abroad isn't that easy. I've always been afraid of what if something wrong happens on the country I am working or the country where my lovedones is or any other scenarios and you can't do anything because the distance is thousands of miles. So I'd rather work smart than gamble on working abroad.

That's true. You'll never know what will happen to the other side of the world. Worse comes to worst you'll receive a call about a news you don't wanna hear. THen you'll regret of living away from home, of wasted time not taken. And yet your reason is because you wanted only to have a good future for them.

I have not really been thinking of working abroad. I earn a decent amount of money monthly over here. However everyone is not lucky. I have some friends who have gone to work abroad but they were not all successful. I think if you have some skills then it will be easier for you to find employment abroad. As for me my country is developing quite rapidly and I want to be part of this development. Moreover, I am happy with my job and my life.

I would love to travel and to work abroad, and this has always been a bit of a dream of mine. I have once taught in Japan, years ago, and I absolutely fell in love with it and had an amazing experience. I would go back there and teach again in a heartbeat. Discovering new foods, seeing the Buddhist temples in Kamakura, traveling the trains, and meeting the people there was wonderful. I learned a great deal about Japanese culture and about how Western culture has influenced their culture over the decades since the second World War. I think it is good for all of us to work abroad at some point, and I think that, when and if we do, we even appreciate our own culture, in our homelands, even more because of leaving them. It's funny the things I missed about America when I was over there--like New York style greasy pizza and dirty water street vendor hot dogs. In any case, I would highly recommend working abroad to anyone who gets the chance to.

Agree! The only way we appreciate what we have, is when we go out there and missed it. Also, nothing compares to the experience of living in another culture and learn from first hand about it. Seriously I'm so envy because I've always wanted to go to Japan, like I want it so bad. I'm a person who loves to travel and discover the world, and right now I feel like I'm stuck here doing the same thing, so of course I want to live and work abroad.

I hope you get to go there--it is such a friendly culture, in my experience, and they were all so welcoming to me and hospitable. Where are you anyway? Also, you are never stuck as long as you have your imagination and your passion! You mentioned that is is important to appreciate "what we have". I have seen many of your upbeat posts on all of these forums, and I think that you are a very positive person who contributes to all of these conversations in a great way.

Thank you so much for your opinion about my posts, it really means a lot. And yes, I hope I can go to Japan someday, its culture really gets my attention. I'm in Venezuela, which is going through very hard times lately, maybe being positive is a way to survive here somehow. I had the chance to travel a lot and experience different cultures, including USA. I was there in Florida for about 8 months, learning a lot, and I had a very good time there. I wish I could go back someday.

I would love to go back to Germany to work because i just really loved it out there. Germany is one of the best places to not only visit, but to live in as well. I love the culture, beer fests and food. I really do hope I have the opportunity to go there and live abroad once again.

I think there is less of a reason nowadays to travel for work since you could just work online and be employed by people from other countries anyway. I wouldn't mind having to leave but it would have to be somewhere specific where I could be sure that I can still get the luxuries I got accustomed to here. I think I would have to choose the United States if ever I did need to leave because I feel that country has the most choices so I would be more secure that I could settle in and find a comfortable spot there more so than in any other country. Not to mention that English is the main language there so I'd have an easier time communicating.

I am not in such situation where I would have to pick since I'm a freelancer and I can work from the comfort of my home but our country has a similar issue as yours. Here, the majority of well-educated people leave because the lack of jobs and bad salaries. They just go to the neighbor countries or further, across the sea. It is quite sad to see because then we lack the specialists and so on. If I had to choose I would pick whatever would be the best for me and my family - if it meant that I have to move abroad to earn the deserved money then I would do so.

For me, if you have the opportunity on going abroad you should grab it. But be sure to check first on what work, salary and expenses. Then check the available job here which you can be hired and compare it. If you see that there's a huge difference. You should decide. It all depends on the work salary and expenses you will be facing when you leave the country. We all know that salary here in philippines is really low same as the opportunity.

It is really difficult to work abroad, in most countries you have to know the local language. You also have to have some money saved to rent an apartment and pay for everything during your job search and if the country is rich then probably the prices of everything will be higher than in your home country! It's good to know other countries and cultures but you have to know that it's not that easy.

It obviously depends on where you are. Over here in the United Kingdom, most people will just work locally because of how good the jobs can be and how good the salary can be for most jobs. Of course, that will depend on your qualifications. But for other countries, it may be better to move to another country where the pay for jobs is a lot better than they would be doing a local job.

It depends in the situation. There are people who are much in need and not. Some people chooses to work abroad for the better salary for their responsibilities but working abroad will not surely bring you into wealth because most of workers abroad are abused this thing is not good instead of earning you will be hurt and one thing also is you will be far from your family which will really bring you to tears everyday. Because of this issues i choose to prefer work locally because it is worth living near from family than working abroad without assurance that you will be paid what you are expecting. Being in your own birthplace feels like home than in abroad.

I agree that salary here in the Philippines is low but not all. There are a lot of Factors why a Filipino worker do not get a good salary and I can give 2 out of the many. This is based on my own experience and not from somewhere else.

1. Type of work - Blue collar jobs pays lower than white collar jobs here in the Philippines. (Not all but majority)
2. Skills - The more advanced skills you have the better opportunity you'll get earning good money. I am talking about the Technology - online marketing, selling stuff, Web site developer and etc. If you know how to use the Internet - you don't really have to work in the offices with your boss.

What I mentioned above are just based on my own opinion, we all have different thoughts about what is the real situation in our Country. I think that we just need to know our Priorities - If you think that working abroad for your family will help you solve your financial problems, go ahead, every Juan needs deserves a better future.

Considering the difference in exchange rates between our local currency in Nigeria, which is the naira, and that of the US, that is the dollar, I see reasons with pals that want to travel abroad to countries in Europe and America where they can earn foreign currencies and when they return to Nigeria, they can exchange it for millions of naira which automatically make them millionaires in our Nigerian setting.

However, I do not have short-term plans of travelling out because of my love for the country and the fact that I want to take my time to build an empire in Nigeria in which I can count on before travelling as I wish outside the country. Aside from that, I do not think I want to travel without being financially stable to do so in a short time. I prefer to make it in Nigeria.

I would rather work locally than to work abroad because it's closer to family and you can monitor them personally. I am not closing the opportunity to work abroad if I can bring my family with me its alright. Because many broken families resulted by a father or mother working abroad, and then they will find another lover abroad that causes the problem. So I'd rather work here locally than in other countries that is far from family.

I have a full-time job and also I have an online job on the side but working and living abroad is something I have been preparing for since last June. I have my passport now and I would love to leave my country anytime soon. With all the " dramas" happening in my country, I tend to become tired and uninterested to become part of what they called " progress ". I love my country, I love my culture, I love my people and I will never be ashamed of my ethnicity BUT like any other person who is wanting for a real change, I would like to have a newer and better environment for my self, for my partner and for the family we are wanting to build. I am not losing hope though, maybe years from now, I would find the willingness to come back to my country and be a contributor to the progress we are all aiming for.

I think you would want to work local if you could. Working abroad wouldn't be an option for me unless it was an opportunity too good to pass up. Also it would depend on where I was moving too. Leaving New York for most other places would be a downgrade. With a few exceptions like maybe L.A. or something. It also depends on what line or work you're in or the type of education you have. For example, if you have a degree in anything tech related you should be able to get a gig in any major city you live in.

I'm all for working locally also here in the Philippines as there would be a lot of ways to earn here if you're good enough to find a work or maybe start your own business. But lately, I would prefer to work abroad if I haven't met my future wife lol. But I'm thinking that I really need to have work with a higher salary than my current work to save more for our future. And yeah working abroad is probably the best way to get a more decent job that pays higher and has lots of benefit rather than working contractual here in the Philippines.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

For me it really depends on several circumstances such as the foreign country destination, the nature of work, the type of contract that you can possibly get offered to and the salary pay and most especially your circumstances when you leave for a long period of time such as your family. When we hit the rock bottom in employment in terms of monetary pay, most of the times we think that working overseas that promises high pay and better work environment will somehow alleviate us in our current situation financially and things will get better. While there are numerous stories of success abroad, there are also numerous stories of failure and disappointment by it. Just like every thing that has been offered in life, working far away from your family is not for everyone. You should consider factors like the the country you're working in, the company that is hiring you and your living conditions once you settle working there. And then you assess if the family you're leaving behind is in tune with your plans for your future. Do you have one goal as a family to stick together no matter the circumstances life may bring to you. And lastly, are you prepared for it.

If I am given the opportunity to work abroad, these are the things I will consider. Ideally I would love to work in countries where people and the government generally welcome foreign workers and treat every one with respect.

To be honest, I love working local. Yes, working abroad has more salary but the time you spent with your family is more precious. Working abroad makes us far away from our love ones, we only live once so we should not let ourselves to be far away from out family. Money, gadgets, houses can't be matched with our time with our family, it is the most important at all. Here in the Philippines, there are lot of ways on earning money, you should have more strategy on earning money. You can earn by online jobs, you can put up a small business and many more.

Working abroad has also advantages, but it depends on the country that you will work on. Working abroad gives you opportunity to earn more money, you can help your relatives to their needs like paying their tuition fee's, buy what they need and buy them gadgets.

Both. In other words, I want to work here and abroad while enjoying the adventures of travelling. That's the trend these days among freelancers. All they need is their laptop, a good wifi connection, and their passports(and visas if necessary) and they are good to go. All their work transactions are pretty much done online so their location does not matter at all.

There are more ways to earn more now with not considering to go abroad. Just like online, I think there are a lot of ways we could earn without leaving our respective homes. If I have choices other than going to another country to work my ass off, I will still consider staying here in my country. However, when opportunity knocks on my door, I will try to weigh things up carefully, but still prioritizing my family and their comfort. It's not that I am afraid of working in another country. For now that my daughter is just 2 years old, I think I want to see her grow up and take care of her by myself. I am kind of old fashioned but we have our own preferences and reasons. I prefer to work at home since I find lots of opportunities in the online world and so far, I'm excelling at this and I know there are opportunities out there for me.

I have worked abroad before, and it's good for the money. But then one needs to also consider that the countries paying higher wages will also be more expensive in any other regard as well, so to really be able to save money one needs to live very frugally in the first place, so it's not going to be easy or very enjoyable - but understandably something we must do every now and then in order to be able to afford supporting ourselves.

I agree to work here locally than abroad. It is hard to live alone because there a lot of things that you will miss for example your child growing you won't be able to advice him/her in the problems they encounter and others. Also working abroad is sacrificing your family to have a better life which is actually practical but missing the most important life of your child or wife or any member of your family is heart breaking. Also working here whatever may you encounter your family will be at your side looking for you but if your working abroad you will need to survive whatever problems you may encounter alone.

I am a writer, I earn well in my home country. However, if I go to abroad, I may not find writing jobs. I use English as a second language, my language skill is above average in my home country, however, if I go to English speaking country for work, my language skills will not be enough, it will be very hard to compete with the natives. Working locally or going abroad, which one is more profitable, depends on your skills and knowledge. If your skills are more of a technical kind, then you have better chances of earning.

Working local is more safer and easy to deal with than working abroad. Starting from the requirements, one will need a lot of papers in his envelope if he tries to work abroad, while in a local setting, there's almost no need for lots of documents. Next is your surrounding. I guess it is more comfortable to work in a surrounding that you know than to blindly explore some place that you know nothing of. Adjustment is necessary for someone who plans to work abroad and it's really difficult specially for adults, and worst, there are people who cannot adjust that resulting in wasting of time and money. In the basis of salary, local pay roll are not really and not necessarily low. In fact, there are many jobs in local place that pays good, meaning more than enough for your needs, so I don't really see the reason why there are many who tries to work abroad and not trying to look for local opportunities first. If there are really nothing for you, then consider going outside, but having nothing is impossible, maybe your problem really is finding that something.

Yes, money can't always buy you happiness and belonging. There was a time I read that those who go abroad for better opportunities sometimes end up returning because of a glass ceiling they face in their new adopted country. In the beginning, you'll probably have to find an entry-level job, and then you could advance. By the way, when living in the Philippines, I found this handy pay stub generator https://www.thepaystubs.com/. I've been using it ever since. Wonder why? Well, because I started keeping track of my salary information, the taxes I paid, and so on. So, yeah, I became more organized and more successful in a way.
