Playing with Console or PC

Console and PC are the two main gaming hardware available to all gamers. It's either you are a fan of PC games or Console games. Personally, I'm a fan of Playstation console games more than Xbox consoles but I prefer console games over PC games.

What's your preference between consoles and PC games?

I definitely prefer console games over PC games. Probably because console games are dedicated gaming devices, whereas my PC ultimately feels like my workstation! That’s not to say I don’t ever play games on my PC, but I prefer going to my console when I want to game as an escape from work.

This is exactly what I feel with playing more on console games than trying out PC games. Although, some of my hard-core game friends have a divided views on which gaming device is better, I simply prefer consoles over PC.

Playstation console are my favorite and currently, I'm gaming with PS4. I haven't played with Xbox One but I'm sure it's not going to take long till I get my first playing experience with the console.

I also have a PS4 and use it quite regularly for gaming! I have to look and see what games I want to add to my Christmas wishlist - I wouldn’t mind a couple of new ones to enjoy!

PlayStation is also my favorite console game. I like to use it. I remember the days when we with our cousins through PlayStation 2.

I agree with you, and I am afraid to start playing in P.C too because I might get addicted to it.

Oh, I agree with you. I also feel like if I use my PC for games, I might end up destroying it. I need to keep my PC safe so I can still earn money. Consoles are actually more fun though.

Yes, that worries me too about gaming on my PC! If I don’t have a functional computer then I effectively destroy a big part of my earning capacity, and that’s not something I want to do! Considering I enjoy console gaming more anyway it’s not too much of a sacrifice.

It's not a good idea to play using your computer if you have such tendencies. It's common to see people frustrated over games. The troubling part is when you have violent outburst near your PC.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you, I am really ill tempered and I might destroy it if I lose a game.

That's funny. I feel like we can all relate to that. It's like we're scared of actually damaging our precious gadgets. Even if we don't mean it, we can't really control ourselves during times of extreme frustration.

PC used for work should not be used for playing games because there's a possibility that it will be broken. When playing games the processor produces excessive heat that could damage the entire system especially of the specs are not for gaming. But with good specs for gaming and cooling system, PC could endure for long hours of gaming. It is just expensive to set up a PC for gaming.

I agree. I think PC games need a lot of memory a to produce high quality graphics. That's the reason why gaming PCs are expensive.

My PC has good specs for gaming, but I cannot even dare playing games using it. I treat it like a baby because I cannot imagine living without it even a single day.
Games are good, yes, but it is good to avoid playing them using the PC that one uses to earn.

Well if playing video games could only lose you money and add your electricity bill, it's totally a waste of time and money. But if playing games could give you earnings, I think that is good. If you knew pewdiepie, you would say that playing videos games has good benefits too. Because he became rich by playing games on PC, make reviews on the game, and upload it to his youtube channel. I think he has thousands of videos on his channel and for each video, he had millions to billion views. Lots of people actually doing it on youtube but I think pewdiepie did it very well that's why he has 70M subscribers.

TheArticulate
That's not a great way of looking at video games, in my opinion. I understand a lot of us are freelancers and business-minded, but not everything we do has to be for income and profit. Video games can be used as entertainment and to destress, which I think is more important a lot of the time than trying to make money off it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
Video games were developed by companies for profits. Developers earn millions while people continue to play video games. I think earning while playing video games is a good way to return back the money spent on buying those games. There are actually people hired by game developers to test their new games. Playing and testing games became their job. YouTube platform give opportunities to the people who are games enthusiasts to share their experience in what they do and at the same time earn money through the videos they've uploaded on their channel. People who have watched those videos might not really gamers but they've been entertained. If we talk about playing video games back in time before YouTube came to existence, playing games could be a total waste of time and money. Thanks to YouTube because these days playing games, making tutorials, and making reviews give people entertainment and at the same time earn a living. Game developers earn Millions to billions, YouTube earns billions, I think it's just a good thing that ordinary players could get a cut. People who uploaded their videos on YouTube of them playing games might just want to share and entertain other people. It is just that YouTube platform rewards those who help make YouTube more popular. So why not take advantage of the opportunity while it is still there?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
I'm not saying that people shouldn't take advantage of video games for profit, what I'm saying is that you have a poor outlook on reasons for video game use. You continually beat this idea to death that unless we aren't monetarily compensated for doing something (i.e., video games in this case) then it's, and I quote, "a total waste of time and money". This is your opinion, which you are completely entitled to, but I think it's incredible narrow-sighted. My opinion.

Not everyone is a game developer, not everyone is a YouTube personality, not everybody is a paid video game tester, and because you put so much emphasis on these people and use them as examples as to why video games should be used to gain money as opposed for simple entertainment is absurd. My belief is if you gain something from a video game, be it entertainment, fulfillment, or even relaxation, then playing the video game was not a waste of time for that individual.

In order to humor you, let's take a look at some other places your logic could be applied:

Filmmaking is a huge business (also an entertainment industry like video games), and a vast population of people enjoy watching movies for entertainment. So, by your logic, unless you're writing scripts, creating films, acting in them, or producing them on any level, then watching movies are also a complete and total waste of time. Right? After all, you could be paid instead to write reviews about them or whatever.

Running a restaurant can be a good business for someone. But unless you're running your own restaurant, work at a restaurant, are a food inspector, or any other form or employee, then by your logic, eating at a restaurant is also a complete and total waste of time. Right?

A lot of enjoy music! The music industry has the capability of creating stars out of people and making them rich! But, by your logic, unless you're a musician, record label, music publisher, band manager, or some other form of person who makes money off the musicians and their music, music is also "a complete and total waste of time".

The problem with your viewpoint is that you completely ignore a huge subset of people who look to entertainment outlets as what they simply are: entertainment. Not forms of income. These are the people that will be your clients. They're the ones who eat at your restaurant, play your video games, listen to your music, watch your movies. And telling them that what they do simply because they don't do it to make money is a "complete and total waste of time", is insanely narrow-minded.

A real business owner doesn't look at their clients and tell them that what they do is a "complete and total waste of time".

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625 I completely disagree with you on saying that PC is for work only. Some great gamers are know to prefer gaming using PC than consoles.

Have you ever heard of gaming competition? Mostly, they play using PC and not consoles.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
This is a great point. eSports is becoming a lucrative business, and a lot of organizations have professional teams that compete in world tournaments that have huge prize pools in the millions of dollars. League of Legends, DOTA 2, Counterstrike and the likes all use PC's in their tournaments.

I've also read reports that the keyboard/mouse combo is more powerful than the controllers that Xbox and Playstation users use, which gives PC gamers an edge over them in first person shooters like Counterstrike and Call of Duty.

Yup! Competitors in gaming competition use PC because they can easily set up and upgrade for the best gaming experience.

I completely disagree with you that poster's opinion that PC is mainly for work because it's not.

Computers day can do multi-tasking. You can use programs for office works and at the same time play some music or browse the internet. And if you're not working, you can use it for gaming if your computer specs passed the minimum requirement to play a particular game. It's up to the user how the PC will be used.

These gamers are more comfortable with using pad controllers to play. It's actually one of the reasons I prefer consoles.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

PC can be confusing based on the keyboard usage. So I agree with the fact that console can be simple and worth playing in such case. I think PC is only good for those who are playing for long enough time and have got control over keyboard and mouse.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exactly! Having played more with Consoles, battling with PC keyboard becomes a very difficult game task for me.

Sometimes, I can easily have my eyes closed and still be able to play with the console pad controllers but it's not possible using the PC keyboard for me.

I like them both. I like that consoles are dedicated to playing games alone and it offers great game experience and fun. But there are games that I enjoy more on P.C. I am guilty of sometimes playing in the middle of work but only at times when I am too stumped to think and I need a break.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exactly! This is actually true about how gamers bond with their gaming devices whether they are playing with consoles or PC.

You are very correct with the assertion on having a kind of preference for playing some particular games on either PC or consoles. What's some of the games you prefer playing on PC?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I love playing The Witcher on PC than in consoles. It seems to me that the graphics put a lot of strain on consoles that it glitches or lags at times. Really very seldom, but still. Same goes with God of War.

God of War is perfect on PC. I'm definitely going to be very honest in saying that one even though I'm a fan of console games more over PC games but when ever I see where PC games is better than console games, I'm definitely going to tell you the truth.

Playing with PC games was one of my favorite whenever I feel bored or had nothing to do for the whole day. I also grew up for playing play station and other gaming console before but then I find PC games much more worth it since it is very affordable if we don't have our own computer and it is very convenient and we can have a lot of choices to choose from which is really good to have.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

PC hands down, no question here. Steam and their sales made me a PC gamer when I was in high school, and I'm still the same way right now. They just make PC games so affordable (if you're patient enough to wait for their annual sales).

That's not to say that I don't enjoy console gaming, though. I grew up on a Playstation 2 and Xbox 360, and I'd really like a PS4 as well. I really dig Sony's exclusive games like Uncharted, Until Dawn, The Last of Us, etc.

I am not a heavy gamer but I do play sometimes when I get bored. However that sometimes only takes about an hour or two depending on if I'll win or not, because if I lose I get easily discouraged and will close the game without thinking twice. And so, I just play on my PC because game consoles are a bit expensive for me because I'm not that into gaming. It's just an occasional hobby for me.

For me PC wins. The reason being console takes more money. Though console offers more performance and also a good joystick experience. But the PC seems to be good for many things. And it is something for which I'd be spending my money. That is something I'd be investing into if I were to have anything decent with the earning. It may cost less than console for upgrades too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You've got a point in the sense that when we are playing with PC, you tend to spend less money and this is different from what happens when we are playing with the consoles. However, I will pick the gaming console because of the high performance that it brings.

PC gaming is cheaper in the short term. But as games get sequels, and newer versions which are more resource intensive, and as your PC ages and its parts become more outdated - you'll find PC gaming will cost you a lot in future upgrades. That's why gaming on a large flatscreen television is much better.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

PC gaming is indeed cheaper but some games require better graphics card. So at some point of time cost becomes same with both investment. And there is not much can be compared after specific point. Default low RAM machines are cheaper with PC.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

If you can get better RAM and graphics cards, then the high performance is more from the PC. But that involves more investment. But overall in terms of multi use, I think PC makes sense. But people use different devices to keep things separate.

I play games with my console and I think that it is a better option than when I am making use of the PC. One thing that I have noticed about using the PC is that when you are playing, the graphics is not always super than when we are playing on consoles.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
That just means that your PC's specs aren't up to standards for the games you play. You'll need to invest in a better graphics card in order to play games with heavier graphics. For those who aren't technologically or PC-minded, that's why consoles might be a better option. If you're not up to maintaining their PC, then a console will be better since you don't have to worry about parts becoming outdated.

You'll only have to worry about your entire console becoming outdated before having to replace the entire thing (and most likely your game collection too, if your new console isn't backward compatible.)

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
That's okay though because new consoles don't arrive often. It's normally a 4 to 5 year gap before a new X-BOX or Playstation arrives. Then there's the time period between when you decide if it's worth your money or not based on what new games it has. As opposed to a PC for gaming. There are some REALLY high end gaming PC's but another issue with gaming online are hackers or people who access your end of things and take control of your character. Also some of the gaming networks get hacked, passwords stolen, networks crash or are down for hours, sometimes your favorite co-players aren't online when you are. Pain in the but imo. Console gaming is simple, pop in the game, flick on the console, and move on to gaming.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
Absolutely, and your choice for console over PC is definitely your prerogative, and there's nothing wrong with that. My PC however, has been relevant since I built it in 2011. For me, upgrading my rig is a satisfying aspect of owning a PC. Learning how the pieces of my PC work together to make a strong computer is fascinating, and joy to learn about.

My main problem with consoles, is the fact that newer consoles tend to exclude backwards compatibility among their games. With Steam client, I can purchase games very affordably for my PC, and the cloud-based nature of the software makes it incredibly easy for me to transfer my games between computers if need and keep them in a centralized location for easy access.

I haven't had any issues with the things you've mentioned, or at least not to the point that I feel the need to change gaming rigs. The co-players thing I'm confused about. I figure that your "favorite co-players not being online when you are" is a frustration that can be mirrored for console users as well who play multiplayer games.

Overall, both PC's and consoles have their pros and cons, just like anything I suppose. It's just for me personally, PC's pros far outweigh those of consoles.

Consoles are a few of the most simple gadgets obtainable, simplest requiring a disk to be slid in, a piece of navigation and it’s playable. In the meantime, the computer needs a bootup, disturbing different game-improving programs like Shadowplay, however may have a lot greater done on it. In any case, the most you could do on a console is play video games and perhaps watch a few videos.

I am a fan of both but the thing with console is that you'll have more experience of the game. These consoles were made not only to entertain us but also to make us feel comfortable while playing. I do more enjoy games in consoles rather than in PC because you have to be on where the PC is while playing. On the other hand, some consoles could be hand held so you can play wherever you want and whatever pose you like while playing. Most of the good games in PC needs internet connection also unlike game consoles which have a lot of offline games. Other than that, both were great and have their own advantages and disadvantages.

I also prefer console over pc since we all know that console are really designed for games. I also use pc and laptop for games but I'm a bit afraid that I might broke it. I am more confident in consoles than PCs.

For the past couple of years, I’ve been way more interested in PC gaming than consoles. I found the convenience of Steam and enhanced features like better graphics and framerate to be my main reasons for going PC. I tried playing consoles after going PC, but the graphics just look so much worse to me now.

That being said, I might have to turn back to consoles soon. The time has arrived that my gaming laptop is getting outdated, and I’m going to have to choose whether I want to build a new PC or switch to console gaming. I’m starting to lean towards consoles simply because so many developers are starting to ignore PC.

Consoles have been getting such great exclusives like Bloodborne, Spider-Man, God of War, and recently Red Dead Redemption 2, while PC gaming has practically zero exclusives. It isn’t worth having a great PC if you don’t have any new games to play.

I am more accustomed to play games in a pc. Specially during the times when I get addicted playing online games. (this was the time when smart phones are not yet available in the marget). Games like Ragnarok, Counter strike, Red alert etc are the most popular games during my younger years. I have to admit, that somehow I feel regret that the time that I used in playing those games could be used in more productive and meaningful activities. I just feel that it is a time wasted during my youth but hey I did have fun.

I prefer PC games. They're much better since I can play them online. And they're more flexible in terms of playing against people all over the world. I'm still enjoying my time playing games like DOTA 2.

I prefer the PC. The first argument of this confrontation is the exclusive titles of each option, as having certain exclusives can give more interest to a console in front of the PC. But what many people do not know is that Microsoft has more exclusive titles behind them than the sum of exclusives in consoles; in PCs, this is coupled with great compatibility with old titles thanks to DirectX. Having a large number of exclusive titles does not make a platform better.

Computers are very flexible and cheaper as well, we can buy cheap devices and play free games without any problem or we can also go further and have a good computer capable of playing in 4K. Computers are faster, and their functionality is much greater since you can do many more tasks besides running games.

And because I don't have a console game I choose to play in PC games. It is accessible to me and everyone.

I preferred using PC to play games than console because we only have PC not console hahaha actually i tried to play in console back when i was a kid in our neighborhood but now i only played in PC since we migrate to other place. And playing in console is a great experience and it's so good to have that's why i like to buy my own console when i got a stable job in the near future.

I'll choose PC gaming any time. The only game I ever play is online checkers and occasionally some scrabble on mobile. So since I use my PC to access the net, it is the only one I predominantly use for gaming. Things would be different though if mobile phones had bigger screens.

Yes, same here, you can play with it comfortably than the console games.

I prefer PC gaming. Maybe its because I don't have a console. I use my Pc for everything. And you are right@jayjaydimson I find it more comfortable to use then a console. You can PC'S of all sizes. Most are big and that is more comfortable for gaming because of the screen size.I vote PC over console, anytime.

I prefer playing with PC rather than playing with console. PC has more features than consoles. Of course it is already given that in terms of performance and graphics, console is way better than PC. Console is obviously intended for a better gaming experience.
Going back, PC has free yet great games. Practically speaking PC has more games to offer which are of different platforms rather consoles which only offer us limited number of games.
Different emulators can be used with PC as well which makes PC a better choice to choose when you are a die hard gamer.

Yes you are right. If you are tired of playing games, you may want to browse internet without any hassle as if you browse at console, its more difficult to navigate the controls so Pc is more convenient and have more benefits than console.

Well to answer your question I have to mention that I love both. The feeling of sitting on a couch with friends and holding joystick to play some Console game is a lot of fun. I remember playing Resident Evil 4 and GTA: San Andreas on a PS2 like it was just yesterday.
Boy it was epic.

But obviously, I prefer the PC because it's easier to maintain and understand. PC just has better capabilities and it's more universal.

I couldn't agree more. I do not hate the console, but it only serves one purpose - that is for gaming (well, maybe for playing DVDs) and nothing more.

That's right. Consoles give us that feel good vibe of playing with friends. Especially, since its actually made for two player mode. But computers are more flexible when it comes to gaming. You can also play them online unlike most consoles.

Yes, me too. I also prefer PC because it has better capabilities and you can choose what you want to do while console it's more only of playing games stuffs. I like also console but I am not use to play games, except Grand Theft Auto as I am free to do what I want to do like just drive a long the car and steal some cars or a motorbike. I can kill and steal money from someone although I have tried the mission but I always prefer not to do so. When it comes to horror games, I prefer watching others play the game.

I'm a PC guy, so I'll be biased towards the PC. I didn't grow up with the console controllers (didn't get used to it even though I tried) and mainly use keyboards to play games like Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty and such.

I also prefer using PC. Consoles are best for solo games and one on one battles. It's just that we enjoy online games more for their multiplayer aspects. They also get updated for further improvement and enhancement.

Plus, I don't know, but I think it's hard to play first-person shooters on it because of the limitations in its controller compared to PC's wherein there is a mouse to aim with ease.

I am not into console games. I like PC games such as Sims 4. I am one of those avid fan of sims and I really got addicted in playing sims even before, It was still The Sims Original and Sims 2 came up and sims 3 and lastly 4. Before Sims, I used to play star craft and Battle Realms but when I played Left 4 Dead, I can't walk from the game as I am afraid so I just play Counter Strike. I also play console and I remember I always played Grand Theft Auto while eating Kitkat.

I like both in different ways. If it was vacation and i am with my cousin in our grandmothers' house I like playing with console. Since we are not together all the time and it happens only during vacation playing aconsole is also a bonding time for us. To differ our connections and closeness.

I prefer playing on a console and I use a PS4. I find it easier to use a console than a PC for gaming. The only game that's easier for me on a PC is Sims and the rest for me would be console.

I can relate. Gaming consoles are really made for playing games. So it would make sense that we're comfortable using them. Good thing that computer games are also made to be played on PC.

Even though people are saying buying a PC is more practical since you can do a lot with a PC I don't think it's ideal at all. I like to use my laptop for work and having all that games and knowing they're there with just a click of my finger is a cause of distraction for me.

Exactly! Playing on console especially Playstation 4 is such an awesome gaming experience. Of all the gaming consoles that I have ever played with, Playstation 4 console has been the best.

Playstation 4 is quite expensive just like Xbox One console but the latter is more expensive.

PC games no doubt. If you already have a gaming computer with you, why go for console games? Though the recent console game exclusives like Spider-Man and Spyro are very tempting, I just watch playthroughs online. I trick myself that I'm the one playing instead of them. It sucks to be a gamer without any money.

In my own opinion, both are great and have there owned respective charm. Why limit your self in just one gaming option you can have a new experience in gaming if you use a gaming console. But if you would look technically PC in-doubt is more practical than a console and it has higher specs compared to any console out there. PC, in fact, is a master race in the gaming community.

Yeah. The console is a good thing. My first console was Sega Megadrive 64. Really like that console because of the funny arcade genre.. However, when the time has passed, I bought a Playstation Two. Hundred of games I have passed and a lot of them were about tactical combat, like Syphon Filter and Battlefield. However, when I got a lil older, I decided to buy an Xbox 360! On this console, the first time I came across CS: GO. The game was super nice since I really like the physics and the graphics part. However, a lil later I bought a PC with CS: GO, however, I didn't like the ranking of this game. Ranking requires a lot of personal time, so I decided to use the csgo boosters service csgo-boosters.com which will raise the profile rank pretty quickly, cheap, and effective. It helped me to save my personal time, so I'm thinking that PC is the best thing ever, because PC can save a lot of money and personal time..

Console games - my weakness. I am fan of retro games. I play it on console, but sometimes when I don't have access to console I use PC. ROMs games helping me in it. I find good resource with ROMs https://romsplanet.com/ . There you can find different kinds of it.
